  2. I am hoping to make it to this sale! It all depends on my level of exhaustion Friday night. These sales will take it out of ya! :)

  3. If anyone is going and interested in looking for some items for me and making some extra $$$, please contact me at tamara dot chicago at yahoo.com. (When did I cross over the line from liking J Crew to being a junkie???)

  4. How often does the warehouse sale in Arden happen? I'm not in the area but will be in June.
I did attend their warehouse sale last year and it was AWESOME! I had two bagfuls of clothes for the DH and the kids! Unbelievable prices!

  5. No offense to the Muslims, but I'm about ready to start calling the distribution centers "Mecca". :) And I should make the journey once a year. Do people travel to these things?

  6. I've seriously considered it, Tamara, if for no other reason than to get some shoes. It makes me ill to see the prices people are charging on eBay for shoes that I KNOW they paid like $5 or $10 for.

But I haven't gone yet out of fear of not being able to control myself. I could just see myself going OOH OOH OOH every 5 seconds and adding another item to my pile. ... There actually was a warehouse sale here in Chapel Hill and like a fool I didn't go. Next time I will for sure!

  8. To be fair, a lot of the items sold at the warehouse sales have some serious flaws--marks, tears, weird sewn-together spots, stretched out, etc. I have seen several pieces with gaping holes cut in them. Many items are samples, too, so the fit is a little off. I remember once finding a pair of Juliet heels in my size, but they were so scuffed and beat-up looking that it wasn't worth buying, even at the lower price. Hope that makes some of you feel a teensy bit better :)

  9. AppGal, yes that does make me feel better, thank you!

Does this mean that J Crew isn't going to do any more popbacks on the web site, because everything is being shipped off to the clearance sale? I'm wondering if I can sleep in tomorrow. :) This getting up at 4:30-5am every day is really screwing with me.

  10. I went to a warehouse in Arden last fall, got there at 11:00 and had to wait in line for THREE HOURS to get inside the door! Anyone know if it is usually that crazy crowded? I don't want to waste my whole day again!!

  11. Kristen, I was reading someone else's blog and she wrote about going to the clearance sale, she recommended getting there at 8am and said the long line is crazy. Did you end up finding a lot of good stuff?

  12. Thanks Tamara, looks like I'll be up at 6 am for the drive there! It was totally worth it, even getting in late. Cashmere for $30, super cheap jeans, even found a rose chiffon tee from fall 08! But you've got to REALLY dig for the good stuff!

  14. tamara, I've been to many of the Arden warehouse sales (I love the thrill of the hunt!) and I can tell you, they don't put first quality stuff in the sales.

Everything you buy in a warehouse sale either has something wrong with it or is a sample. Everything. Of course, the flaw can be minor like a cracked button (with the extra button still atttached, I've gotten lots of jackies this way!), or a scuff mark on a pair of patent heels, but like AppGal said, many items have huge holes/stains, or are just plain hideous.

Hopefully that makes you feel better about getting your popbacks/not being close to the warehouses!

  15. Does anyone know if there is a coupon out for the warehouse sale this time? I know there have been some in the past.
