J.Crew Email: Our head-to-toe style pile (plus 20% off, in stores & online)

"Thanks!" to many of you, including Ketan, who shared the following email.

The email (using an animated gif!) pulls together an entire outfit by pairing the Military Tunic (Item 37345; $59.50), Shrunken Fisherman Sweater (Item 41313; $88.00), Eyelet Short (Item 38847; $75.00), and the Sardinia Wedge Espadrilles (Item 26446; $118.00) together.

It is a perfect outfit for late Spring/ early Summer. I love how simple, casual, and chic it is.

If you need help imagining what it looks like altogether, the image to the left can help. Although the Voile Tuxedo Tunic (Item 38993; $89.50) is used under the sweater and the Mackintosh Rousay Trench Coat in Gingham (Item 39829; $975.00) tops it all off.

It's like J.Crew came back from its redonkulous styling (crazy layers anyone?) to its classics-with-a twist roots. {sniffle} Oh, how I missed your styling J.Crew!

What are your thoughts on the overall outfits and individual pieces? Do you any of them? If so, please share! :)

  1. Love the outfit! I recently received the eyelet shorts and really loved them. I will hopefully get some IRL photos on the blog later today or tomorrow. Overall I think the fit is TTS. I ordered a 2 in them, a little lose in some areas but I never like my shorts skin tight. I think the shorts look better when they are layered with longer tops and cardigans as opposed to just wearing a cami or tank with them.

  2. The shrunken fisherman sweater is indeed a classic as the online copy says. I own a few of these from other retailers and would probably have bought this one from J.Crew if it came in a gorgeous summer color.

  3. Has anyone tried on the Shrunken Fisherman's sweater? Photos? It looks so cute but I'm wondering if its bulky.

  4. I tried on the fisherman's sweater yesterday. It looks classic J Crew folded on the table. Very beautiful! Many will love it. I didn't like the nubby texture. It looked a little too worn for me in the beechwood color.

  5. ...oh, sweater is definitely not bulky. It lays flat and fits to the body. The arms are long and I would say take your regular sweater size. It stretches to fit but didn't look overly shrunken to me.

  6. For some reason 'style pile' sounds not-right to me. I don't know why.

  9. Love the outfit, but the big ol' sweater isn't practical for me in the South. Liking the vibe though!

  10. OT: need some help. I returned a mail order via UPS on3/18. I contacted jcrew and they do not show the order as yet at the warehouse. Of course I can't find the tracking slip. Do I have any recourse? I only live a couple hours from lynchburg so it should have only taken a couple of days to get there.

  11. MaryMoo, did you use the pre-paid label? The tracking number is at the bottom of the part that you keep.

If not, did you drop it at a UPS store? They might be able to determine the tracking number for you based on the time of your drop off.

  12. Ok, someone at JC has an iPod & tried to create a Polyvore set...dinkle-dinkle-dink, a "style pile" was born!

I'm def liking the look of the style pile. I tried the eyelet shorts and really liked them (just not at f/p). Will def pick them up again if they go down a bit. They fit tts, which for me was not tight, not too loose, just right. The scallop edges are too cute and I don't have anything like them in my wardrobe. I think they'd work in early fall too w/opaque black nylons & the right pair of heels/booties.

  13. Just remembered the b&m's have the eyelet shorts in a light blue color too. Darn it! They've sold out of the shorts in my size online.

MaryMoo, did you get a drop off receipt from UPS? It would also have the tracking #. One time I shipped JCrew, JCrew factory and Madewell back in one box. All of the items were returned except Madewell. Madewell CS returned the items based on my word & it totalled a few hundred dollars, which leads me to believe they may have some issues w/disappearing items at the warehouse. You should call CS and see if they will assist you with the missing package.

  14. I don't know if I like the look (maybe without the jacket, I could never inderstand the concept of wearing shorts with a jacket, especially one longer than the shorts) but I tried the sweater today and it is really flattering (not bulky at all). I have no idea why they are calling it "shrunken", my size hit me below my hips. It fits TTS. I tried this color bit I saw the white one just berote exiting the store (the two colors weren't displayed together but at the opposite ends of the store) and I think it's a better color for this sweater (as Gigi said it has a nubby texture and it looks better in the white IMO). I have pics and will post probably tomorrow.
