J.Crew Email: Jenna's Mother's Day picks (plus, EXTRA 30% OFF sale items & FREE SHIPPING ends today)

"Thanks!" to many of you, who shared J.Crew's most recent email, which showcases all of Jenna Lyons' picks for the latest catalog. Click here to view all the items selected.

The theme for these picks is: "Since this month's theme in the catalog is all about love, I had to include my first love— Mom. She's an amazing piano teacher and the most young-at-heart grandmother I know. Her students are her toughest critics, and she takes great pride in looking great for them. This is a special 'Jenna's Picks' for my mom and maybe yours..."

The picks also include something really special, that I really love... The inclusion of photos from the private collection of the Lyons family. They are a super nice & personalize touch.

Now for the actual picks... The item I love from her picks is the Casbah Bandeau Tank (Item 44507; $92.00). I am loving the Casbah print— such vibrant hues matched with a delicious print.

The item I could not disagree more with is the Flak Trench Vest (Item 44125; $168.00). It is an expensive piece that seems difficult to wear. At first I was intrigued by it. However, every photo I have seen it styled with looks "meh" at best.

Last, but not least... J.Crew is reminding customers to take 30% off all sale items (no min) and free shipping on $150+ with promo code OURTREAT. This offer ends today!

What are your thoughts on the items selected? Which items would have made your top picks that you are loving?

  1. OT, but I got an email invite to spend my rewards card on Tuesday, May 3rd, 5pm, at select stores. It says 'You're invited to a Rewards Splurge'. So I guess it's a wine-and-cheese type gathering, probably without wine or cheese (maybe juice?). I would go if they were offering 20% off full-price items! Otherwise I would rather shop anonymously.

  2. I think I would like the Flak Trench Vest it if were in leather. Same color. I like the honeycomb bracelet.

  3. As a Californian I also get the idea of the sleeveless trench--would definitely have to try it on though. Cute photos--her son looks just like her and her brother!

  4. I assume that's the Blythe in the new beautiful color as seen on Dinster. I might be into the flak vest if it were longer. That's too cropped for me, Marissa.

Irl pics of the flyaway cardi, drapey stripe tee, downtown skinny jean & silk utility tee in this post.

  5. I wish they would add 30% off full price for Mother's Day as well!

    The bracelet is lovely though...

  6. I love the Bronwyn satchel in tuscan olive. Anyone else eyeing it?

  7. The picks are OK but I either have something similar already or the item is of no interest to me. For example, I have enough denim/chambray shirts for a few years and the look is heading toward overdone as it is; I would not wear a bandeau one-piece at this point in my life and given my ample bust, probably never. Yawn. I did order the casbah bikini though, it should be here sometime next week.

  8. What happened to the matinee trench? Did it sell out?

  9. Susan, I had emailed and asked for measurements of the Matinee Trench and another jacket to compare the sizes. I was told by the online PS that I could call them but they could not give me any info. on the Matinee Trench because of "technical difficulties". Very odd. I think the trench is just playing hide-and-seek and will return again at some point.

  10. Can anyone help me find an item? I saw it on someone today who told me it was current Jcrew....it was a striped tank that was white/ivory background with textured stripes (that also were not straight, but a bit free spirited)...the stripes were tan/blue/purple. I don't see it online and LOOOVED it!

  11. Dinster, I got that email too. I agree that I don't need a special night to shop w/o some discount or gift as an incentive.
