Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SUMMER sale, or to see some new SUMMER & FALL arrivals {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  1. Hey all, I had to get your input on this...I am not liking the Madewell clothing, BUT, you know that "signature clasp" on our JCrew jewelry? Well, it's also used on the Madewell jewelry. So much for signature.

  2. I'll be visiting the North Ave store in Chicago to check out Fall arrivals and remaining sale stuff!

  4. I will (hopefully) be visiting the Pleasant Prairie Crewlet on my way to/from Chicago tomorrow or Saturday. If the bf is feeling particularly patient with me, maybe we'll hit up one of the B&Ms in Chicago, too! Can't wait to check out the fall arrivals in person.

  6. I just picked up a pair of Piera ballet flats in Sandy Rose (with pretty neon trim) at the B&M in the Shops at Riverside in NJ for 55.99! So excited to get gorgeous J. Crew collection ballet flats for under $60. They were pretty well stocked with tees and ballet flats in the sale section.

  7. I will be stopping by to see the new arrivals. I swung by the Prince St (NYC) store yesterday and found the mannequins inspiring. I bought one item -- a wonderfully slippery camel slip dress that I can't seem to find online.

  8. Roxy--that dress sounds pretty!

  9. Has anyone been to the outlet lately? I went about six weeks ago and I'm thinking about making the trek again this weekend, but would like to know if there's anything there I can't live without first. The outlet is only 30 minutes away from me, so maybe I should just stop being lazy and go.

  10. OT, but has anyone purchased or tried on the Crinkle Chiffon Tunic? Size up? Size down? TTS? What about the colors? Are they as pretty as the look online? I want to get input on this top before I buy because it is FS. TIA!!

  11. I shop at Garden State Plaza in NJ, and they are a concept store. They have beautiful pieces before most stores. I was able to pick up the jeweled wool tank in a yellow ($74)-gorgeous for fall. They also have amazing skirts in for fall in metallic wool/lace that are priced at $178- best I've seen in awhile. I also saw a vest online, not available yet, but you can preprder. It is $275, heavy beadng along the zipper. Absolutely gorgeous.

  12. I went to Easton Town Center today to check out new arrivals. I didn't try on a lot, but here are my thoughts on what I tried on...

    Cascading sequin cardigan
QUITE sheer and a bit boxy in the cut IMO. Not for me. Not special enough for the price.

    Marled knit Thandie blazer
I LOVED the feel of this - Unlined and stretchy. I tried on an 8 (normal size) and could have almost taken a 6. I didn't bother to try it on, however, as the sleeves where too long and bulky for my short arms. It doesn't come in petite in that color.

They had a really interesting floral merino v-neck (I think) in deep reds/fall neutrals. I didn't try it on as patterned sweater don't really work on me.

They also has a new art tee that was quite pretty IMO. It was VERY sheer but would have looked nice under the seashore green Jackie as it had waves of gold, green and blue beads on a nice square background. It looked very delicate though. Price at $39.50.

I saw the new Jackie in bright cinnamon. It was a lovely color, but too close to some other options I have to warrant paying full price.

There are a few things I ordered that I wanted to try on but my store didn't have...

    Burnout baseball tee
    Boys' jaspé ballpark cardigan
    Merino rayé cardigan

Clearance was still an extra 30% off, I didn't even bother.

ALSO, if anyone is visiting the outlets, I'm interested in what graphic tees they may have out for this season. Nothing abstract, actual graphics and straightforward beading/designs is what I'm interested in. TIA

  13. I will be looking for the
Dolmina shirt-jacket (item 28735), want to see it IRL because my head was spinning after reading the description. Never considered ruffles a "tomboy" touch before.

  14. Anyone know if the catalogue is in stores? That would sway me to stop by .... looking at items on-line, home-run hit in description of lace cami: "So effortless and elegant, this is the camisole every woman should own. (We're obsessed.) "

Harris tweed jacket for $595 - is this covered under free-market economics, or can we file a protest accusing j.crew of highway robbery? For $600, it better be sewn by the Loch Ness monster... Not really swooning over any of the tweed offerings, which is unusual for me. Hope they come up with better items for September. OK with waiting, anyway, as it's 90 here with humidity to match, with occasional torrential downpours. Had to use a just-purchased large dessert bowl as a hat earlier as I emulated Usain Bolt sprinting from store to car. That is, if Usain Bolt was a 5-foot-3 woman wearing kitchenware.

  15. Roxy and Tracey - I think that dress is online in the "Intimates" section of Accessories (also, they sell thongs online now?!). It's the silk slip dress, item 29516.

  16. First time posting. I went to the jcrew outlet yesterday at Prime Outlets in Jeffersonville. They had several nice things out fall. I got a new graphic tee in a putty color that is an ad for headache remedy and it has clear beads sewn on the border- the tees were 30% off so it was about $20. I also got a long sleeved tee that looks like a sweatshirt (if that makes sense) I got a putty color, they also had charcoal and navy. I think they were $39.50 but I can't remember for sure. They also had a version of last year's dream open cardigan. Not sure what the real name was for it last year but it was a nice long open cardigan. Also lots of pretty colors in the long sleeved tees. Denim was 30% off as well. Oh and sale was another 40% off and I got a gray pair of pants that are the outlet version of the pixie- ended up being about $30. Hoping to leave the kids with daddy tomorrow so I can go the "real" crew and see new arrivals. I am also returning the Brompton Hobo in Henna. The bag is a bit too large IMO for crossbody wear and the color was a bit too orange. But I still like it and if it goes on sale I may have to purchase it again. Something about it keeps drawing me in. Sorry for the long first post.

  17. La Belle Helene,

I stopped by a B&M today and they had the new catalogs already. Hope you can find one!

    ReplyDelete
  18. Thank you lbelleconner for the Crewlet info. You tols me exactly what I wanted to know!

I called Jeffersonville to ask a few questions and they told me that, in addition to the headache tee, they also have the crewlet version of the Imperial tee out in this shipment.

  19. @silver_lining - yes, that's it!! Thank you for finding that.

@La Belle Helene - the August catalog was out in the J.Crew I was at yesterday. HTH!

  20. For those questioning the $$ price of the Harris tweed jacket, this is one time when it is the small crofter, weaver, and sheepherder who directly benefit. One may not be able to afford it, but one must applaud keeping the small crofters and old looms in business.

    From the web:
Our Stornoway mill is the oldest producer of Harris Tweed in the Outer Hebrides and has been producing Harris Tweed since 1906. The process has changed little over the last 100 years. Virgin wool is dyed and spun into yarn that is delivered to the homes of crofters throughout the islands. Then, as their ancestors have done for centuries, the crofters weave the Harris Tweed using traditional hand looms.

The handwoven Harris Tweed fabric is then returned to the mill to be expertly washed and finished. Only when the Harris Tweed Authority inspector has hand checked every 50 metre length of Harris Tweed cloth, is it stamped with the famous Orb trademark and released to be made into Harris Tweed jackets. Harris Tweed Scotland Limited directly employs over 30 islanders on the Isle of Harris and provides work for over 100 self-employed crofters throughout the Western Isles.

  21. Thanks, Professor, for clarifying this. Harris Tweed jackets are expensive, and there is a reason. My husband has several that look smashing on him; I used to get mine from the Salvation Army in college. In any case, the price is completely justified, IMO. Congrats on getting it! I can't afford it, but can appreciate it from afar. Wear it in good health!

  24. @mommydearest: a current Lands End free ship code is "schoolbus" with the PIN "9421" (you can find this if you google search the topic). I think it works for Canvas items too.

I wish I could say that I'll be visiting J. Crew this weekend, but I've been there at least 3 times this week already . . . a different store each time. (eek!) I've returned a few items, and always ended up with something from the final sale. It's pretty much picked over by now, but I got some 3/4 and long-sleeve stretch slim button-down shirts for $14 each. I was able to get a good deal on some jewelry too (the Carlyle bracelet and earrings in soft blossom, and the crystal tides bracelet). It helps soften the blow of the fact that the shirts are for work, which I start again next week. So long summer!

  25. Like Jane Marple, I have an affinity for Harris tweed, and this jacket is quite overpriced.

    Thanks for info on catalogues!

  26. Visited the Prime Outlets in Lee on Wed., lots of basic tees, some corderoy, oodles of printed silk tops, an adorable pair of girls jaupers!
I picked up a navy and white stripe jersy dropwaist frock for just $13.98, nothing super special, but soft and a great basic.

  27. I wish I can go to a JC B&M to check out the new arrivals.

If anybody sees the dip-dye leather ballet flats in 7 gray or blue please hold one for me. TIA!

  28. It's all lbelleconner's fault!!

I ran to Jeffersonville to pick up the headache tee and the imperial tee. The originals were too snug around my middle, but the crewlet versions fit me well. Each one was $17.55 with my teacher's discount.

All clearance was an additional 40% off. I got my husband a couple of graphic tees for $7.78 each after discount. They had a BUNCH.

  29. Been in to b&m to see new items and then again as my exhibitor bag arrived but they sent the wrong color. It is a gorgeous bag. Nicest findings I have ever seen on a jc bag. Can't wait for correct color! Also got a nice denim shirt not on line. It is like a prefect shirt. New waverlys are nice too. Attention gals who don't like the scout -- you may like. I like them both for different footwear and weather choices... Many things I like not in my shop so will have to order...

  30. Mall at Millennia in Orlando, FL is offering 30% off of marked down sale items. Got the tissue Zoe tank for $9.09 and the dip dye linen vneck for $12.49!

  31. Nichi- Sorry!!!! :) I thought the headache tee was cute- glad you liked it too!

  32. I stopped by the Tysons Corner B&M today (one of the SAs knows my face now--she always calls me out! She even called out to me that I should be working there, lol). I was in a hurry and there only to return items, so I didn't get to try on anything. I saw the Rimini cardigan in the cinnamon color *drool* which I will go back and try on later (I want every color, seriously). I also saw about 20 Brompton Hobos :P (all in the henna color). The bag is very large, esp. for my petite frame, but I still can't help but feel drawn to it. I intend on nabbing it if it ever goes on sale...

Also, I saw the Silk Fringe Scarf in "pebble squash". The color is better suited to fairer ladies, IMO, as it seemed to wash me out (I'm tan with yellow undertones); it's kind of a blush color--not really cream. However, it feels WONDERFUL. I wasn't really interested in this one before, but after feeling it in my hands, I think I may reconsider the black/ivory one!

  33. I went to the University Village B&M (Seattle) today. There was no more sale section. My PS said that the store got some fall things early because they were so cleaned out.

They didn't have any of the tweed jackets. They did have the marled Thandie blazers, but none of the tweed jackets. I loved the side-zip sweat shirt and had to have one, the bayberry wool scarf, and the sparkle waves henley.

The Madewell opens on Tuesday in Seattle.

  34. I will have to visit the store this weekend because my Ares Platform sandals came today and they are too large!! Ugh...I ordered a 9.5 because I find their shoes run a bit small for me and these are way too big. I'm so bummed I have to wait an entire additional week for them. Anyone have advice on whether I should go down to a 9 or 8.5?

    ReplyDelete
  35. Sorry, no JC for me this weekend!

Just an fyi about the landsend canvas promo., I found you can't use a free ship code if you apply the 20% off from the main page.

I was able to get free shipping + the 20% off currently offered on the main page by using the store's computer to place the order. This is great if you live close to a store. Also, they have cards at the register with free ship codes for future use.

The le canvas Women's Chino Utility Shorts are worth a look (at $14.39 ea. I bought four pairs of them). They're kind of thin but really comfortable and look great on - not sure why but I love them.

  36. I have a question about sizing if anyone has any input :)

I'm typically a 0 in all J. Crew stuff. 00 pants are too tight in the hips for me, but fine in the waist. I wear a P2 or 0 in skirts and I have extra room in the waist, but the hips are fine.

Now in the new arrivals I'm seeing that they added P00 as an option for a lot of the wool dresses. I know that would be too small for me, but I'm wondering if a P0 is now slightly larger than it was before and therefore, a better fit than the P2 for me? If you take a P0 in dresses, or have tried one on, can you tell me how it fit?

Thanks! I so wish stores carried petite sizes so I could try things on before ordering.

    Lauren

  39. Lauren S, I recently ordered a size P00 super 120s high pencil skirt and it perfectly on me! Usually even a size P0 would be loose on me so I don't think they're making the P0 any bigger. They just adding more smaller sizes which I'm very happy about!!

P.S. Does anyone know the sale price of this purse?

  41. Jean and Lauren S - Yey! I didn't notice they now have size P00 until you mentioned it. 00 was fine in the waist for me but too long. THANK YOU and I will be off to a B&M to try them out!

    ReplyDelete
  42. Hi Lauren S.: In the past, I have ordered my clothes in a P0 but since they introduced the P00 sizing, I have purchased it. The P0was always still too big for me, so I think they introduced the P00 for even smaller sizing. I have still had to order items not offered in a P00 in a P0 and I don't find they've changed the sizing of the P0.

  43. Heidi,

I know that is so strange. Bath and Body Works is the exact opposite. The more you buy the higher up you go on their ranking and received more promos and coupons. Kohl's is the same if you have their charge card and spend a certain amount per year. Your perks go up.

JCrew makes me really made when I spend a bunch of money there and get nothing to show for it!

  45. Went to prince st. store in soho yesterday. They had many new arrivals, but none of the jersey dresses (surprising, given the heat. i think people would snap these up right now rather than look at the cashmere sweaters and think they'll wait several months to buy). I tried on the betsy dot wrap cami. It actually looked nice, but was completely sheer, so I think I am going to wait to get one of the darker solid colors when they go on sale. I liked the look of the calista cami but am not feeling any of the color offerings on that one. They had the remini cardi, in a light pink color not offered online. Tried on but the zipper on the front was too motorcycle-looking for me. Also, tried on the knot pearl necklace in gray. Would have bought, but the threads are GREEN and give the necklace a green tinge which I did not like. All in all I just ended up with the flower patch tee from the sale section for $10.

  46. Went to a B&M for the first time in 2 years! Yes, ladies. My impression was they could do a better job displaying the clothes--I like the catalog for putting the items together. Without the "total look," most of the items just sat there looking so so. The only things that caught my eye were the side-zip sweatshirt, the rimini were pretty IRL, the merino vest was thicker than expected, & the bayberry scarf felt nice. I stocked up on cords over the summer on sale, and found cute ones at Anthro so most pants were a pass. I think it was the gingham shirt(26238) but it may have been the buffalo check shirt (28642)--OMG, I would have snapped these up as I love the look & colors, but were they thin! I could see my hand behind it, so these were a pass. I bought a check shirt last spring and that is traditional perfect shirt weight, so what has happened? I looked at the men's check shirt and the weight of those are similar to last winter/spring check. If anyone can clarify--is it the gingham that is *so* thin? Is the buffalo check a traditional weight? This would help other shoppers, as I doubt many would want such a thin shirt at $70.

  48. Stopped by yesterday - oh, that glen plaid ruffle skirt, I so visualized pairing it with a tee, one of my black jackets and a pair of booties, but I didn't even bother trying it on because it's so damn short. Ugh, ugh, ugh. Who buys cheerleading-length skirts when they're not working a field?

Saw the knit thandie blazers, too - not impressed. That's a lot of money for an unlined pseudo jacket. Have we figured out what their Fall 2010 "it" jacket is - following the lineage established by the Bella & Fiona & Ecole?

Didn't buy anything yesterday - it's been brutal here, hotter & way more humid than normal - and since it's only July, why pay full price for fall clothes I won't wear for two months. Snagged some good finds at Nordstrom's anniversary sale, though :-)

Now to sit back, enjoy a cup of coffee and treat myself to the catalogue. I hope it's good. I have a soft spot for the august issue simply because three years ago, it was aug. 2007 which presented to me the awesomest purchase I've ever made at j.crew... that enchanting, beautiful azalea Bella, lol.

  49. I'm heading to Chicago to shop downtown tomorrow. How is the N. Michigan Ave store compared to the Collection store on North Ave. Is it a Collection store like the one in NYC?
    Thanks for any help!

  50. la belle H and other dear friends, I think I have figured out the demographic that the ruffled cheerleader -- oops, herringbone -- mini and the candy kiss foil dress and the like are aimed at: Snooki's wannabee preppy cousin. Greedy, greedy J.Crew. But points for being inclusive.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Debby-I was at the North Ave store on Sat. I didn't know it was a collection store, and think the Mich. Ave. is instead. That one is huge! North Ave is more boutique size. Report back, I haven't been to Mich. Ave in a while.

  54. Thanks Karen! I looked at the store locator on the jcrew site and it says North Ave. Collection... that made me think it was a Collection store and might have some of the unique pieces that the other stores don't have like the NY Collection store. I'll be sure to go to the Michigan Ave. store. I'm wondering how far it is from the Water Tower.

  59. Just went to the Santa Fe J.Crew-- got a summer white, shawl collar sweater for $52. The original price was $118. They are in the midst of their "extra 30 percent off" sale price, but it's still a final sale...

Odd thing: has anyone else noticed that J.Crew has stopped offering men's clothes in a number of locations? (Aspen and Santa Fe are just two- I am sure there are more). What gives?

  60. la Belle -- that video is the best! Alas, a shopping expedition will have to wait another 15 pounds. A few months ago I learned that antihistamines depress appetite control system, and so am dealing with summer allergies another way while the weight slowly slides off. Meanwhile, JC mens' flat front chinos & whites in size 31 are about a size 8 - 10, come prehemmed in a few lengths, do not show butt cleavage, and are getting me thru the summer nicely.

  61. wellfed--I love the men's chinos. After an injury I put on a few pounds and now they are off I can still wear the chinos as "boyfriend" pants. while I rarely use it--fabric softener definitely helps them drape a bit.
