Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available in the Summer sale, or to see some new Fall arrivals {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  1. I remember someone asking about the sparkle blouson dress (item# 93510). It's currently in the sale section. Only size 10.

  2. Feeling very unispired to shop JCrew right now. Nothing I have to have. Will save my $ and be hopeful for Oct. rollouts

  3. I'm hoping they'll put the cashmere V-neck cardigan on-sale soon, and in some colors I'd actually like to wear. I also keep dithering about the toothpick ankle cords in the eggplant color. Even though my store marked those cords down, they don't carry that color, and I'd like to see it in person before I buy so I can get a sense of whether or not I have anything to pair it with.

Also a few updates to the sweater sale section on-line. Nothing very exciting--Jackie in tangerine; cashmere turtleneck in tangelo, and a couple more.

  4. I visited the Lexington KY JC b&m earlier this week. Sale section was pretty piddly, and they have a very limited color selection of Jackies (disappointed there). They did have the tissue turtlenecks which I was glad to see, also in a plum color that wasn't online. The SA's were really nice and helpful.

  5. Does anyone have the nottingham ankle boot? I have seen one blog review but am trying to decide and am wondering if people are happy with it? It is really pricey but it is my b'day gift from someone so i am trying to focus on the boot: i like the texture of the leather, etc. Any cons from someone who has it?

  6. Lauren: The Cashmere V-neck Cardigan has been selling really well, I think the only way we are going to see a sale is with a private code.

  7. Are the toothpick ankle cords marked down in the store?

    ReplyDelete
  8. Hi Hexicon, the toothpick ankle cords are marked down to $49.99 in store but only for warm maple color. I did see it from the Prince St store in NY that the rest of the colors are @ special price of $69.50. Hope this helps!

  9. Was at Michigan Ave. store in Chicago yesterday. There were quite a few of the Farrow bow top in ivory for $19.99. Noticed a LOT of size 6, if anyone is looking for that size. There were a couple of the navy version, too, but I didn't check the sizes.

  10. Hi all,

I hope to go by the B&M in the next week or so to taken in some new items for tailoring.

    I just recv'd the blush tweed (aka Michelle's Vogue & Jenna's pick) skirt this week. Unfortunately, it's toooo long, more than 3 inches past my preferred length. I'm a little worried that the tailor will be unable to hem it to fit w.out ruining the look. I know that hemlines drop w. the DOW, but honestly -- if jcrew is going to lengthen the skirts, they should offer more petite sizing :}

    Also, this is completely OT...

However, if any of my fab JCAs are interested, I saw a Library print dress on ebay today. It's listed as; "RARE J.Crew Library-Print Dress".

I seem to remember a few folks mentioning it on previous posts.

Hope all your finds are fab.,

    Heather:D

  11. Mmm, that library print dress is so pretty. I wish I had the matching cardigan, oh so badly.

Nothing of interest added to the local sale section, there's still a few boyfriend cargo jackets left, and a table half full of cords. Meh.

  12. OT - AT is offering an extra 25% off all sale items in their b&m's, no coupon needed.

    ReplyDelete
  13. That's a bummer, casual-crew. I just can't bring myself to shell out $168 although I do think it's a lovely cardigan.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Hexicon, at my Seattle store, all the ankle cords were marked down to $69.00, with the Maple marked even further down to $49.00.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Has anyone tried the sapphire tweed pencil skirt? If you see it in your B&M visit this weekend, I'd love to read your comments. An IRL photo would also be greatly appreciated.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Hi CheesyGoodness,

I agree w you about the sweater. So Cute! I would absolutely add it to my "Dear JCrew, Please Bring Back..." list.

Hmmmm, but then I'd HAVE to fend off my sister (the librarian) & scores of friends determined to raid my closet.

    Somehow, that's a risk I'd be willing to take :}

Hope y'all find something amazing this weekend,

    Heather:D

  18. I just got back from J. Crew. I did not see anything of interest.

Everything is ruffles, sleeveless and boring drab colors. Getting so sick of the greys and blacks.

Let's have some color J. Crew!

    ReplyDelete
  19. Sign in to your account at J Crew, there is a screen asking you to update your information and there is fs no minimum for updating your information.

There is going to be perks given time to time so every time we visit we are to sign in.

I did a mock order and I did not see fs.

    ReplyDelete
  20. casual-crew - I signed in and updated my info, but no code for FS.....

    ReplyDelete
  21. Hi again,

Since I had just mentioned the "Please Bring back Thread" I realized that I found another item that someone wanted. I ended up going back & checking.

Sooooo, Kathleen02, if you're still looking, there's a lobster dress on sale @ ebay as well. It's listed as; "New JCrew Lobster Print Dress"

    HTH,

    Heather:D

P.S. Thanks again Alexis for the really smokin' search features. It makes it a lot easier to find info. my weary mind has trouble finding.

  22. Hi! I'm going to try on some of the suiting dresses - I'm in absolute lust with the Olive dress (3/4 sleeves, cowl neck).

    ReplyDelete
  23. i updated my email preferences and once it saved i did a mock checkout and although there is no code, it automatically applied the fs. hth!

  24. Celia, I saw the Bellini dress instore and it's very pretty in person, but it looks very unforgiving. Not that it wouldn't be flattering if it fits someone nicely, just that there seemed to be NO give to the fabric and it seemed to be a very shaped silhouette. If it's showing as final sale, I'd call CS and ask for dimensions and for them to let you return it if you don't like the fit. Good luck!

Enabler alert: babyGap and GapKids are extra 25% off sale prices at the B&Ms, Gap and Gapbody extra 40%!!! I got an awesome denim pencil skirt (my first pencil), peep toe flats, pj pants, and five pair of socks for around sixty five bucks. I'm still not bowled over by their tops and sweaters, even at the reduced sale prices, but there's plenty of cheap and good stuff to be had.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Since there are posts about sought-after items, I will mention that Anony posted yesterday - there were bubble necklaces in the sale section online.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Casual-crew & Ashley: How does this work? I don't see a screen asking me to update...hmmm... Thanks for the helps!

    ReplyDelete
  27. Sarah: When you sign into your on-line acct, the first screen that you see is the account one, there is a message saying Welcome____your name, and then the speel about updating your info. and fs. It worked for Ashley.

  28. did the ribbon bow top drop down to 19.99? I just bought it last weekend for 49.99, so I will be trying for a price adjustment if so!

    ReplyDelete
  29. I wonder if is random that is why it is only working for some people, so their system will not be overloaded.

    ReplyDelete
  30. nothing about free shipping for me either

    ReplyDelete
  31. Hmmmm....all mine says is this: "Hi, Sarah. Great to see you. Now that you're signed in, just roll over the options on the left to update any of your information." I guess I didn't get picked to be lucky today... ;)

    ReplyDelete
  32. holy crap. the account update/free shipping worked for me! I cannot believe I just got free shipping with no minimum from JCREW!!! It totally made me just spend money I wasn't planning to, but I felt like I had to take advantage of that! Are pigs flying!?!?!?! Did hell just freeze over?!?!

  33. I was at the store last night and they had the tiered cami's - only certain colors as well as the black and white printed - on sale for $69.99. There were several things reduced that didn't seem like they've been out very long - I was surprised. Nothing in my sizes to tempt me, thank goodness.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Oh, yes! The ribbon tops were 19.99! Only the light color, and seemed to be all sizes!!

    ReplyDelete
  35. Glad to hear there are lots of ribbon tops out there and for $19.99! Missed it online, maybe I'll get one yet. ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  36. On the cashmere v-neck cardigan, has anyone ordered it? Is it TTS or running large? I wear these over a button down shirt with the sleeves rolled back for winter and some of the other sweaters have run slightly larger, which is fine, but I don't want it too tight either. Trying to keep shipping costs at a minimum!

    ReplyDelete
  37. speaking of j crew cashmere - has anyone tried on the cashmere turtleneck yet? I had to size down in last year's version, and am wondering if the cashmere is more tts this year.

    TIA!

    ReplyDelete
  38. Laura-I ordered the cashmere v-neck cardigan in black. I am usually a medium at J.Crew and the medium worked great for me. Though I think I would get hot if I put a long-sleeved shirt underneath, it would likely fit.
Just got back from the B&M in Novi, Michigan. Got the ribbon top for 19.99! Wanted it when it was FP, so I am pretty stoked. That was the ONLY thing that tempted me though, everything else was bleh.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Ooh! I logged in to my account and it gave me free shipping too. It said, " For today, free shipping". There is no code- I put something in my cart and went to check out and the shipping was zero. Funny though because there is nothing right now that I want to buy. Well, I do want the cashmere V neck cardi but not at full price. I hope this free shipping thing won't go away.

  41. Bow tops 19.99 and ankle cords 49.99 at my B & M too, got both today.

Also,my knock-off Storybook Charm Bracelet from Aldo arrived today. $20 and free shipping w VIPOFFER code. It is UNBELIEVABLE. So much like the real thing, and I have the JC pink starburst and yellow enamel flower necklaces to compare the charms/baubles side-by-side. Differences are slight. How can they do this? How can JC charge $125? Get one ladies, you will not be disappointed!

  42. Hi guys!

I found in the Greenwich, CT store a few things to pass along...

-the bow tops (in both white and navy) were for $19.99 here too
-the Grand Corsage Top (in all colors) for $19.99
-the corsage tee (in all colors, including white) is now $9.99
-the headache tee is now $19.99
-the patent market tote bags are now $39.99

    Hope this helps! :)

  43. I am not sure if I'll visit Fashion Valley. I received a postcard saying I'm close to getting a $25 reward, but they didn't tell me how close.

When it's 90 degrees out, not feeling inspired for fall. As a Californian, I'm more of a spring/summer clothing woman. But I do love the bluestone merino cardigan.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Cheesy,
LUCKY YOU! My Gap was only extra 25%, but still got some good things: sweaters, wool herringbone blazer and the last boyfriend blazer in my size within 50 mi (unfortunately that one was not on sale)!

Ruffles, thanks for the post! I went in to Aldo to look and they didn't have any. The SA offered to find it, send it to me free, and went ahead and did the get one free, so now I have two coming for $14.98!! They will make great gifts... :)

Got the ribbon top yesterday - totally worth it for $20! And I almost fell down when I tried on the Pixies and didn't hate them (with a long boyfriend cardi anyway). I actually think I might really like them. Has anyone tried to wash them by chance? I hate dry cleaning...

  45. Rebecca, thanks so much for the feedback on the v-neck cashmere cardigan!

  46. I am looking for the shirred slub cotton ruffles tank in a size small. If anyone happens to see it in ivory or shadow please let me know. TIA!

    ReplyDelete
  47. I received the Jaspe Hoodie this week, I had to send it back it was too big in the arms. I recommend ordering the same size as the sweatshirt size down.

Also a note on the Dark Rinsed Matchstick jeans they stretch out alot after wearing them a couple of times.

Even though I phone CS for measurements I finding most items are running big this Fall.
    What a pita!!

  48. Hi Gals!

The Cossette Mary Jane peep toes in whisper pink originally priced at $165.00 are now $79.99 in my local B&M - Tysons Corner . Looks like this shoe is still $99.99 online.

  49. Alexis-
which corsage tee was at Greenwich? Was it the s/s tee or the 3/4 tee? I love the corsage idea in a tee but not a cardigan, go figure.
I'm assuming these fit like their normal tees...

    ReplyDelete
  50. Good morning Marisa! The corsage short sleeve tee and the cotton corsage cardigan were both at the Greenwich, CT store. (The Westport, CT store had both of them as well). Most of the sizes for the short sleeve tee version were mediums and larges (but in all colors, including white). Hope this helps! :)

  51. Thanks Alexis. I didn't realize they were spring/sale until just now since they were in the recent catalog and I have been "off jcrew" for a few months. What a bummer!

    ReplyDelete
  55. Off topic, but received an online order the other day - actually my first buy from the fall collection so far...

    First what I didn't like:
    * Perfect pencil skirt (grey), got it in size 6, the smaller of my normal sizes. TTS. I found the fabric to be very stiff, not comfy. Might help to get a bigger size? Or maybe some of the other colors will have a softer feel. Beautifully made though. It's going back.

    * Silk tiered cami (deep aubergine), got a size 6, my normal size for sleeveless tops. Fit TTS. Looks ok without anything on top, but looks really chunky with a cardi or jacket. Color is dark, a brighter color might show off the ruffles better, thus not giving the same chunky impression. Comfy, but not liking the style. Going back.

    * Velvet Eden blazer (iris): got in a size 8, I'd say more or less TTS, as in I think the size is right, but I hate the fit. Might be able to size down, but don't think that would improve anything. Hits too high on the waist for me, which makes me look weirdly wide in the middle, and very difficult to pair with anything (tried poofy skirts, slim jeans, pencil skirt, etc). Color is pretty, but I'm disappointed in the fabric, would prefer a plusher material, this feels a bit skimpy. It's soo going back.

    The the undecided:
    * Cashmere fiori dress (grey): got a medium, my normal size for cashmere/sweaters. TTS to slightly big (but probably not enough for a whole size down). Love the cashmere, seems much improved from last year. Says 12-gauge, but feels a lot more substantial than the cashmere I got last fall. Very, very soft and drapes nicely. Also love the long sleeves, and it hits just a bit above my knees, thus fine to wear to work without layering. Still undecided because of the fit. I would have loved a slightly more open neckline, and a slightly lower waistband, on me. Still, it's almost perfect, so it might get to stay...

    And what I love:
    * Forever cardigan (navy), got a M, my normal size. TTS, and not bulky! Actually quite slim, which I think is lovely combined with the long length - comfy cardi without too much fabric around the waist. Will get a lot of use out of this one!

    * Silk pleated posy top (shadow), got a size 8, which is a bit big (so TTS). I decided to size up since it doesn't come with a zipper. Probably wouldn't have needed to, but it's not a problem as I will mostly be wearing it tucked in. Great silk, not too thin. Love the neckline, but it needs some fluffing and steaming.

    * Sapphire tweed skirt, got a size 8. TTS, so I could have been able to go with the 6. It sits somewhat loose, but I like how that gives it a teeny bit more of a casual look. If you want it to sit really high on the waist, consider sizing down. Now, I loooove this skirt. Fabric is so pretty, true to website pic (of the skirt by itself, not on the model where it looks a bit lighter in color I think). Very, very soft yet with just enough structure. Great cut. Made a cute office/meeting outfit with the forever cardigan and posy top.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Using the free shipping code I snagged from the website log in (I did have to email my PS to get it) I scored a navy fine striped wool tie and striped shirt in orchid. The tie has since sold out.

I had my eye on both, but was unwilling to pull the pin for them at full pop. Actually these are the first two sale items in about two months; so I guess I was due for a deal.

    ReplyDelete
  57. has anyone seen a bow ribbon top in a 0? i'd love to get one too! if you see one at your local store could you please let me know? thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  58. OT: does anyone own the jackie cardigan in Deep Rose? I received mine few days ago and the color is not what I see online. I was expecting more of a deeper red as it appears online/catalog, but the one I received was more of a washed out/faded color more like coral/orangish color. I called CS and the one they had on hand was same color as mine. I wonder if it is some problem with the dye process. I was hoping to wear it next week... I don't know whether others have the same color.

  59. J Crew in Santa Monica (3rd street) had tons of corsage cardis in what looked like every size and color. Also many Ribbon tops in the cream/black in all sizes, smallest size was 2. I really liked the market patent totes for $39.99 but its really big...

  66. Ashley: I saw the bow top at the Rockefeller store on Friday afternoon. It was a size 0 (otherwise I would have bought it for myself). Good luck!

  67. I went to KOP yesterday. The store was a madhouse and it looked like a bomb went off in it. I'm sure the SA's had a lot of cleaning up to do when the store closed.

They had lots of embellished Ts. The sale section was very small. They had wool pencil skirts and pants that were very cute. The sweaters were very picked over. I didn't see my size - Small - in anything. I didn't try anything on. I just made a return and got the hell out of there. Hopefully, it's more peaceful if you go today.

  69. Hi again,

    Well.... I'm a little disappointed.

It seems the tailoring option should be called the "hemming option". I took in my skirt to be fitted & they said that although they would pay for the hem I would have to pay for any additional alterations. In my case, the waist needs to be taken in a wee bit on my tweed skirt. I think they changed the sizing a bit from last year as those skirts fit fine.

Now I'm stumped. I could order a size down & hope it comes before x-mas(it's waitlisted) so I can compare it with what I have & pay shipping instead of tailoring. Otherwise, I could just give up on the longer skirts this season. Judging by Mrs T's review (thanks by the way - it's v. helpful) I won't have better luck with the other tweed skirt I had on my wishlist.

Oh & Mrs. T, I think I should mention that the fabric on the pencil skirt is similar for all the colours. It's a denser weave of fabric that does give it a somewhat "stiff" hand. I think jcrew went w a sturdier fabric to give it a fall/winter weight. I also found myself sizing down in these. Luckily, they do come in petite so I won't have to worry as much about the hemline.

    Anywho... Thanks to my fab JCAs for letting me vent :}

I hope all of your finds are fab & fit perfectly!

  70. has anyone tried the felted wool bistro mini yet? i'd love input on colors, fit & length.
    thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  71. question - what is j.crew's policy on price adjustments? I was told that they only adjust from full price to first mark down. I bough the ribbon top at 49.99, and then saw it dropped to 19.99, so I went in for an adjustment. they told me they don't do that since it's an adjustment from mark down to mark down. I complained and they gave it to me "one time," but I was wondering if anyone else ever had this problem.
    Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  72. Chanel Fashionista - yes, the policy you were quoted is correct, unfortunately.

    http://www.jcrew.com/help/returns_exchanges.jsp

    ReplyDelete
  73. yes thats correct about price adjustments, but if they wont do it, just rebuy the item and return one with the first receipt. it's baloney that they wont do PA's anymore after the first markdown.

    ReplyDelete
  74. Marisa,
With the vanity sizing, I find I'm usually a 2 in J. Crew, but I tried the felted wool bistro mini in a 4 for length (it would be close to indecently short on me in a 2). It's cut pretty straight, so the low hanging effect of the larger size didn't also come with a too much fabric at the hips look. Plus, there are pockets. Really cute.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Heather:D you mention that all the perfect pencils are made from the same fabric but someone else posted a while ago that the dusty blossom was a lighter fabric and they returned it for that reason.

Can anyone else comment on the dusty blossom pencil compared to the others? I am considering picking up the dusty blossom as well, if the fabric is the same, at least in the quality department.

    TIA

    ReplyDelete
  76. I asked if I could return the item and rebuy - the first SA wouldn't let me. She said returns are held off the floor for 24hrs before they can be resold. Probably to avoid us doing exactly that. Not cool

    ReplyDelete
  77. jcmama, the deep rose was a no go for me too, once I had it in hand. It's not that bad of a color, the dark orangey red which sounds like what you got as well, but not what I expected from the color on the website. I thought it would be dark pinky red and was disappointed.

Not doing the price adjustments on the sale items is bunk pure and simple, but has been policy for a bit now. This is in my top three pet peeves about JC, along with crazy sizing and final sale. Most shoppers don't even know about the price adjustment policy other stores have, let alone use it frequently. For JC to strictly uphold this policy targets the most JC obsessed among us, who know more about products and prices than some SAs!

    ReplyDelete
  78. ChessyGoodness: The GAP and BR are other retailers that adhere to this policy at least in my stores. They will not adjust markdowns on markdowns. The GAP will not price adjust on promotions anymore, I have been told no many times.

    ReplyDelete
  79. casual-crew, ouch! I did a price adjust at Gap in the last couple months, but I haven't got bought anything at BR in a dog's age. Come to think of it, the most Gap shopping I do is babyGap and only when it's sale with extra percent off- it's not worth it to me otherwise. I wonder why the disparity with such a corporate place?

Other places, like Williams-Sonoma (food porn central) have started doing sale price adjustments on sale only if the item in question is still in stock at that store, good within 14 days of original purchase. Last year you could do price adjustments to sale if the price went down further on the website or other stores regardless of whether that particular store still had it in stock. I lucked out majorly this summer on a supremo 22 piece Henkels knife set there. List price was like $1190 or something, $500 on sale when I bought it, and when I checked back 14 days later it was down to $250 with one still in stock!!! That was my best shopping experience in many a moon, and I've been slicing and dicing like a madwoman since I got the set. I would have probably returned the knifes (or at least been really on the fence about it) if I hadn't gotten the price adjustment on such a large (for my family) purchase.

  80. Hi xoxo,

You're quite right. I should have specified that the colours I meant to describe were the ones in stock at my B&M. They included; grey, orchid, & cinnamon. I have yet to see the blue or the dusty rose. My bad :]

I hope one of our lovely JCAs can help with a description of the other colours.

    Sorry for the confusion,

  81. Just got back from my B&M- had to have my perfect pencil skirt shortened...in talking to my personal shopper it sounds like evryone is having that done. Anyway- my store (central Ohio) had a promotion going on the basic cashmere sweaters- both V-neck and Crewneck- $99.00 each. I hadn't seen that posted anywhere so I thought I'd throw it out there...

  82. xoxo -- I just got the perfect pencil skirt in dusty blossom today. It is a bit thinner than the others....I have the skirts in the plum, blue, and cinnamon. This one does fit a bit differently than the others...it's more "flowy". I'm going to return mine...not because of the fit, but because of the color. It's more of a light pink than beige...and I was looking for a beige. HTH!

  83. OT -- I got my first order from Boden today -- I placed an order when I got a 15% off coupon with free shipping and returns. I had ordered 2 of their "fun skirts" -- the brown one with the birds and the black one with the circles. WOW! They are so pretty and so well made. I LOVE them! They also fit really well -- I usually wear J.Crew size 2 skirts and like them a little long, so I ordered a 8L and they fit perfectly. Just wanted to share :)
