J.Crew Rewards Card {around the corner!}

A big "thanks!" to JW who shared some very exciting news:
"...I was sent an email saying that I am less than $50 away from getting the next reward card. And to encourage me to spend the money before September 30th, they sent me a one-time use shipping code (no minimum!) I think this is a great gesture..."

This email sounds similar to a previous email J.Crew sent to J.Crew Card Members– reminding them to use their rewards card before it expired and providing a one-time free shipping code. (Refer to the September 11th "J.Crew Reminds Members of Rewards Card ;)" post.)

[I should once again quickly mention that the email image above is not the actual email sent, but an email sent back in July. (Refer to "J.Crew Fall Rewards Card {be on the lookout}" post.)]

I l-o-v-e that J.Crew is offering the free shipping code (with no minimum!) for card-members. I mentioned it before, but it really is a *wonderful* incentive for card members. I am happy to hear J.Crew is offering it.

So if you are a card member, *check out* your email account to see if you got this email! :)

  1. I got this email too! :) :) I'll take it!

  2. Hmmm... do you think they are sending those out seeing that JCAs are doing the September Shopping Ban?

  3. Sarah: Yey!!! That is great! :)

Pixelant: If they did, then that would be genius marketing on J.Crew's part. :)

  4. I am a cardholder since day one that the card was offered. I did not get this email.

  5. Meant to add: That is pretty cool...

Does JCrew often do this if you are within $50 or is this the first time people have gotten these? No minimum shipping code is pretty cool too. :)

  6. i also did not receive this email.

when does the rewards period end?

  7. I have j.crew card but I haven't gotten anything from j.crew about my rewards! I've been wondering what's going on with j.crew and my credit card. I went to my gmail spam folder and I saw an email from j.crew today but the image didn't show up and gmail wouldn't let me click on any of the links. I did see that the email address is jcrew@e.jcrew.com and the reply email is a really long address. Could this be spam? If so, where are my regular jcrew card emails? I know I should probably call them but I was wondering if anybody else had the same issues.

  8. Pixelant-This is the first email I've ever received saying that I'm just "one splurge away" from earning my next rewards card. It maybe has something to do with the Sept. 30th cut-off date for this periods rewards mail out...not sure!

G-That email address(jcrew@e.jcrew.com) is the address on the emails I receive. You most likely just need to add that address to your contacts/safe list and you'll receive the emails again! HTH!!

  9. I want one! I'm a card holder, but barely ever get anything for it. (no email reminders, etc) Oh well! :)

  10. I am way more than $50 away from earning rewards and I received this email/code today.

  11. I've had a lot of trouble with emails from J. Crew. I used to get them all, but then about two months ago, they stopped coming. I'm a card member re-subscribed on-line and at the store but still, nothing--not even in my spam folder. I have to rely on this site for promo codes, but completely miss out on things like this one-time free shipping thing.

Also, since I don't get these emails, can someone explain how the reward card works? I thought if I spent $500 (which I have) I'd get a certificate for $25 off. Is that now how it works? I don't get the expiration date thing.

Thanks to anyone who can shed light on this!

  12. Bisou-At the bottom of the email, in the fine print, it says: "*Current point balance as of 8/31/09 was between 350 and 499. Required point balance must be
500 by 9/30/09 in order to be eligible for seasonal rewards.*"
So you can be more than just 50 points/$50 away...hopefully this explains it...otherwise, consider yourself lucky I guess! ;)

  13. While I didn't get this email, I think I've actually gotten one similar in the past. And, I'm quite happy you brought all this to light! I didn't realize the next rewards date was coming up so quickly - and I'm only 13 points away from another $25 card! (I just ordered myself another skinny belt -- on sale at $14.99 to replace the one I bought at full price!)

Isn't rewards card time the bestest. :)

  14. I never get these emails either and I'm a card member. I'd be so lost without this blog!

I hate they do seasonal rewards though. I'm a Banana Republic Luxe member and like getting the rewards when I earn them. The expiration is also like six months out.

  15. Hmm, I am within $50 of the next level and didn't receive this e-mail (and I know they can reach me via e-mail because they certainly know where to send the bills!). Not sure whether I want to spend $46 to get $25 right now. Still waiting for a promo.

Also, just had a bad experience with a FS Harper sweater popback being so huge I was convinced the size was mismarked. According to CS the sweater was *supposed* to be A-line and *supposed* to be 4" wider at the hem than any other JC sweater I own--but you'd never know this from the way it looked (pinning?) in the catalog and online. I was authorized to return it as the proverbial "one-time courtesy" but I really had to press for it.

I would like to be able to order my *real* size and know that the piece will look and fit more or less as it does in the photos. CS pointed out that I can call for measurements--and I will be doing so in the future--but I think it's unfortunate that the sizes and depictions are so inconsistent that I need to make this additional effort.

  16. Went to the mall earlier to meet a friend for coffee, stopped by J.Crew & finally got my little hands on a catalogue. Just going to peruse it now.

Also stopped by AT - and found a chic black ribbon skirt (stunningly enough exactly in my size), originally $119, on FINAL SALE for $9.98. Now if jcrew did final sale like that, I'd never say a word against their practice again.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Hexicon,
Glad you're getting to return that sweater. What a joke. I don't think the onus should be on us to have to discern j.crew's level of dishonesty in catalogue/online pictures.

I've never experienced such size inconsistency with another retailer. Ever.

    ReplyDelete
  18. J. Crew should just post the measurements for each garment, not make us call and ask. I know other retailers do this (Boden for one, and I find it extremely helpful).

They should also allow user reviews on their website, like most retailers are doing now.

    ReplyDelete
  19. For what may be the first time in *a while*, I may not spend enough to get a card!

    ReplyDelete
  20. Even when you call for measurements they can be off, it has happened to me 2x since August.

I have also had incorrently tagged items this Fall, the color was wrong, and the other was the size was tagged M when it turned out to be a large.

  21. Lauren S. - The quarter for earning points for the next reward card ends September 30th with actual reward cards going out around the first week of November.

So if you've spent $500 by Sept.30 those points will go towards your $25 card you will be getting in November. The reward card itself typically has an expiration date, for example, the last one that came out in August expired on September 15th. Hth!

    ReplyDelete
  22. jmpb, thanks so much! I had no idea that it's based on a quarterly total, not a "whenever you get there, you're rewarded" system. I really appreciate you explaining that!

  23. OT: I've been dithering about cords because the JC toothpicks and matchsticks are twice as much as the new Land's End Audrey skinny cords but the JC color selection looks better, so I can't decide whether the savings is worth the difference between "soft ochre" and "golden yellow." Did you know that LE will send free swatches? What a great service!

  24. I did not get this email, but I just got over the threshold for a rewards card. So no big surprise. If I had known I would get a free shipping code I would have waited to make a purchase or two!

    ReplyDelete
  25. I have currently have about 940 points with my card. I did not get this email. At the time of the last rewards cutoff date, I had 650+ points banked, and received no card. I also have been having bad email probs like Lauren S. - just bad JC probs all around really. No catalog, sporadic emails, no earned rewards cards...I would be lost without the updates from this blog. For a self proclaimed customer-service oriented company, JCrew's really been missing the boat with me lately. I don't get it.

  26. Hexicon: I have seen the Lands Ends cords in person, I found the fabric to be not as soft as the JC Matchsticks which I have. I personally love the fit of the 09 Matchsticks, I had to size down 1 size compared to my Matchstick jean size.

I agree Lands End has great customer service, they will do just about anything for you. Their styles are coming around and the new slim fit is very tempting to try.

  29. Does anyone know how the whole cutoff dates thing works for the rewards? Like, when those dates are? I need to not buy anything when it doesn't count for rewards!

  30. Sorry, OT..

I went to the factory store and they have rolling ruffles tank there!!!I have one from first spring rollout and it looks very much like mine(natural).XS looks so huge. It was about $39(sorry, can't remember). And I bought a Tartine-25% off $55. It is basically a Jackie with chiffon ruffles around the neck. My Tartine from last year is wool, has bottom ruffles, longer length, and bracelate sleeves(little longer than 3/4 sleeves) Outlet tartine has shorter body and sleeves, but it fits better than wool tartine(too thin...?)

  31. i kinda feel like the J.Crew card is a crock. They are sooooo inconsistent with emails, etc. Offers should go to ALL cardmembers, not just random ones. After all, that IS what they advertise as an incentive to open the card. I get NOTHING...lame. False advertising?

    ReplyDelete
  32. I would not go and spend more "just because" to get to the next reward level. I, mean, the JC Credit card is not that great of deal! You have to spend $500 just to get $25 which doesn't go far and most people spend more money than their rewards:) so it truly is a money making scheme for JCrew. yeah, in essence is it nice but just remember JC would not offer this to be nice; they are making $ off the rewards program

  33. The lombard cardi is available in fresh guava right now, sizes small and medium. Not on sale anymore, but I know some of you wanted it.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I'm a new cardholder and got this email too. It looks like they count up the points at the end of each quarter. So if I hit $500 mid-quarter, do I get a card then? Or do they wait until the end of each quarter and send, for example, a $75 rewards card if I'm 1t $1500? Thanks for the info!

    ReplyDelete
  35. I keep trying to add the ruffled hem dress to my bag @ jcrew.com and it won't go! It doesn't even say that it's out of stock, it just won't go in...

    ReplyDelete
  36. Like others, I've had problems with getting emails and the whole rewards system is frustrating. Why not just send a certificate when someone reaches a certain amount, rather than establishing these quarterly rewards periods and then sending out reminder emails that not everyone gets? I remember with my Old Navy card, I'd get $5 or $10coupons whenever I spent $100 and I ALWAYS used them and ALWAYS spent more than the amount on the certificate! So it's really a win-win.

Since the goal is obviously for more people to get the credit card--because the more people who have them, the more money the company makes--I really don't understand why JCrew doesn't make the incentives sweeter and more simplified. Small awards at certain benchmarks like $100 or $200 would attract more people, in my opinion. Maybe I'll write a letter to customer service:)

    ReplyDelete
  37. Katherine, even if you hit a $500 benchmark midquarter the rewards card is not mailed until the end of the quarter. The quarters end 9/30, 12/31, 3/31 and 6/30. The cards are usually mailed out about a week later. When I qualify I get mine around the 15th of the month following the quarter's end -- so 10/15 for example.

I have decided to cancel my J.Crew card -- just not feeling the love or the benefits, and the interest rate is ridiculous. One of my credit card rewards programs offers 5% back PLUS rewards points, so I'll get my "rewards cards" that way.

  38. I am a cardholder but did not receive this e-mail. Equality for all cardholders please, J.Crew!

  39. I've had more than 500 points (got a little carried away :)) on my card for months now and I haven't received ANYTHING. One of the reasons I signed up for the card in the first place was for the rewards (I was spending money at J.Crew anyways) and those elusive "card-member only" sales. I've been a card member for months now and I haven't seen a single "card-member only" sale. What gives? I like the clothes at jcrew better but banana has much better service.

  40. OT - my husband got a new free shipping code: EB-879 (free shipping on +$150 or more, expires on October 4th)

    Hope this helps!

  41. I agree with other JCA's about Jcrew's reward program. It's not worth much. I am very close to closing my Jcrew account.

I'm also a member BR's Luxe program and they treat me very good. It's totally worth being a member. First all you get rewards as soon as you earned them and you can spend them at any gap store. $25 to me does not put much of a dent into any purchase at Jcrew.

  43. Marisa- I had that problem last week with an item. I waited a couple of hours and then went back to try again and found that my size was no longer listed. So, even though you don't get a message, I think it means it is sold out. Very frustrating!!

  44. I am a silver card holder and did not receive this email. Not sure how many points I have right now but I always receive a rewards card - usually a $50 card.

  46. I didnt get this email either! I checked my account and I'm only $55 away from getting a 2nd rewards card. I want to order a pair of shoes that are on sale but I'm $25 short of $150+ free shipping. Do you think if I call and mention not getting the email they might give me free shipping?
