Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

    1. Net-a-porter sent me an email about this colab yesterday but no other images were attached. That coat and blazer are fantastic. Us stripe-sick gals may be in for wallet trouble!

    2. I'm only mildly interested, really, do I need to be told that a striped tee will pair nicely with a pair of "bold" pants?

Don't mind me, having a grumptastic afternoon paying bills....

    3. @shoppingcelle Def see wallet trouble ahead what with this collaboration plus the roll out next week ;-))

    4. You are hilarious WFF. I'm going to use that grumptastic moniker while paying bills from now on.

  2. Here's a gripe: I placed a Factory order the other day. Tracking shows it went from Lynchburg (an hour west of me!) to NEW JERSEY. WHY. What is this nonsense? I have never seen this happen before!

    1. I had 2 lone t-shirts from an order I placed last week with the previous promo go from Lynchburg to a UPS mail innovations facility in New Jersey as well. Then they went to a facility in Ohio, and now they are in Michigan where I am awaiting their arrival. It seems that each shirt is in a separate package. The rest of my package arrived last week. I doesn't seem very cost effective.

    2. I wonder whether the merch is in fact in Lynchburg or if only the master shipping computer is there, - the one that formats the packing slips, locates the merch in stores, warehouses etc., and then authorizes a "go." Or, in the case of multiple packages me multiple "go"s.

    3. WFF, pretty sure the dispatcher from space has taken over the central computers in Lynchburg and having some fun with it.

    4. Yes, happened to me, too. Skipped a state and went from NJ to Ohio then backtracked. Total insanity. Sorry for your frustration, I've been there.

  3. Today I am wearing the leopard cuff sleeve blouse f4738 with white jeans and magenta suede sandals. Love this blouse! I am 5'2" and weight 125. I ordered a 0 regular. The fabric is silky but not shiny and if is very forgiving to my middle section. I can tell this will be a very versatile top that will get worn again and again. When it gets cooler in the next few months I will put a cardigan over it - love clothes that I can wear all season!

    1. I may have to copy your outfit -- love the idea of pairing that lovely top with white! I really like the fabric and cut on this top, very flattering. I'm also planning on wearing it with the Cabernet faux leather pleated skirt. Planning to wear this one through the cooler months as well, with a cardi. Love when JC gets pieces like this right!

    2. I love J. Crew's short sleeved or sleeveless silk tops for that reason. They can really be worn all seasons and can add some color to an otherwise neutral outfit. They're always thin enough to layer under whatever you want. And they're almost always forgiving to my mid section too (I like to wear them untucked). I have a few :) A few from Madewell too.

  4. Somewhat OT, but I visited my store yesterday for a return and was surprised at some of the items that have already made it to the Sale section --- not talking about the regular tees or flutter hem dresses that have been lingering there for a while -- I'm talking about items that seemingly JUST debuted a little less than two weeks ago, like the Going Places dress (item F6531). Now maybe I'm mistaken and it's actually been out for a whole month, but I only saw it for the first time in my store last week, so was surprised to see it on sale, with 30% off. I purchased the Polka-dot Spaghetti strip dress about 3, 4 weeks ago, at Full Price (eventually got a small PA) but that too is currently on sale at $99, with 30%.

I just wonder whether JC's own production cycle is helping to hurt them, whether some of these items are debuting too late for the season so the get pushed to sale quickly? Just strange.

    1. I just looked at some of the reviews for that dress and it seems like it came out at the end of July so it wasn't 'just released' the way I thought, guess I just missed it. Anywho!

  5. Hello, is there a sale code available that will apply to the Collection Drake for J. Crew? I totally missed out on the code last weekend and saw it after it ended. Thanks :)

  6. I will be hitting up the clearance store this weekend. Can't wait. Everyone else in town is headed to the Battle at Bristol tonight and tomorrow so I am heading in the opposite direction (160,000 people, no thank you) Go Vols!!!! In honor of the big game I am wearing my Tennessee tuxedo today, Billie let out hem jeans and keeper chambray shirt. :) With leopard Gemmas and some bling. I really like these jeans, I went one size down from my normal size, they hold their shape all day and very comfy.

  7. I didn't know jammie tops were going to be so popular this year. I have several from J.Crew that I have picked up at the clearance store, basic blue with blue trim and white with navy trim...I have worn them as shirts before but now I will be right in fashion.

    1. Yes, you will be! I opted for Olivia Palermo's Chelsea 28 silk flower print pajama top. It was $11 at Nordstrom Rack last weekend. Don't want to invest a lot of $ in this trend.

      Delete
    2. @DD Such a good idea!! If you wear them as a shirt, are they oversized/boxy ? Thinking: should I size down or not?

      Delete
    3. No, I get my usual size. They always have them at the clearance store for $5.00!or $10.00 because the sets have gotten broken up. I just press them very nicely but the quality of the cotton is very nice and sturdy so I think they look good.

  8. I placed several separate orders over the holiday and just received the long field jacket in the green color. I'm really pleased with it. The color is gorgeous, the collar is corduroy, it has a hood which is great and lots of pockets. It's roomy in the body so it can layer over jackets and sweaters. Also got the Tippi turtleneck in the Sherwood green color. gorgeous! I love this style from last year and had to add this pretty color to my collection. I've got two more packages coming next week and I already have a list for the next rollout. Glad to have some things I like.....I haven't bought from J. Crew for awhile so I'm having fun!

    1. Hi Stray Cat, nice to see you back on the blog lately and I'm glad you've found items to like again! You've got me interested in the tippi turtleneck, I've never tried it. Do you handwash/machine wash yours (I'm trying to avoid dry cleaning)? Thx :)

    2. gosh....I wish I could wear green. it just doesn't suit me.

    3. Hi Jan, Thanks for the welcome! I have hand washed my Tippi sweaters with good luck. I just don't ring or twist them really hard. Be gentle and lay flat to dry. That's what I did and they look great.

    4. Thank you, stray cat! The Sherwood green looks beautiful for fall, hope it's in store to try when I finally get into a store.

  10. I finally went to my store to try a few things on and totally fell for the Drake pants in the Bengals tiger print. I thought I would love the midnight unicorn better but compared to the Bengals tiger they weren't so special. Went with a size 2 instead of a 0 (that also fit but just so and was a bit less flattering). I love as tapered the leg is, which makes them look less pajam-y. I tried them with the pink Bengali perfect shirt (also size 2) and they looked amazing together but I thought the shirt was a bit overpriced (I would have bought it if it were in the $150 instead of $200. It just seemed exaggerated). Plus with the current temperatures in Manhattan a long sleeve silk shirt isn't exactly something I look forward to wearing right now. I can wait for a better price

    1. My last big order included those Bengal pants too Ema. I originally bought them just to try for size thinking I would return and wait for sale. I may just keep them as they are really special, selling out and constantly exempt from promos.

      Delete
    2. Ema, I really like the pink Bengal perfect shirt too; @shoppingcelle those pants look cute also. I was able to get the shirt for 30% off during the promo switch. The Drake stuff was no longer excluded. I even called CS to place the order & was able to use a $25 off coupon too, so much more in line with what I'd want to pay. Agree about the pricing seeming to be a bit high. Other than the Green Bengal pants, the collection hasn't sold as well as I would've thought. Still full size runs in most of the shirts & same is true of pants with a few exceptions. I expect there'll be a promo/sale at some point.

    3. @shoppingcelle, I was surprised that of all the items in the Collection the Bengali tiger pants are the ones that almost sold out. They are a bit on the crazy size and even on these blog the bird of paradise print seems to be more popular. In any case my store had a lot of shirts and only few of the pants left so I thought that getting the pants now and wait for the shirt was a better plan. I just couldn't stomach paying $400 plus tax for both of them.

      Delete
    4. I meant crazy side, not size!

    5. @Mygoody, yes I remember you saying that in another post. Good for you! The shirt looked amazing on but I am tanned right now (plus I had the perfect pair of earrings on) and I just don't know how that color is going to look on my untanned face later. And as you said this shirt isn't selling as well as the other items so here is hope for a better price (if not sale at least promo).

  11. Nothing compelling enough for me to bother driving downtown and paying for parking to visit the store this weekend. However, I was surprised to see a pair of made in Italy Cece flats at my local thrift store for $8! They looked like they'd hardly been worn, but unfortunately weren't my size. I don't think whomever priced them realized the value of those shoes, they had them on par with Joe Fresh!

    1. Ha, I love seeing things like that! I saw a NWT schoolboy once at a favorite Salvation Army store. It was not even close to my size (and it was a petite size too, I take tall size in schoolboys), but it was like $4.99 and I paused a very long time, wondering if it was worth the trouble to get it and resell on eBay or something.

      Delete
    2. I'm glad I'm not the only one! I thought about grabbing them to offer here on JCA, just because I know everyone here appreciates them so much. Then I talked myself down off the ledge and assured myself that someone would walk into the store and be thrilled to find them, it was not my duty to find them a home!

      Delete
    3. I have given away alot of unworn (final sale mistakes) to the thrift stores. I hope someone gets it and wear it...Ebay would be just too much work for me...I DON'T DO FINAL SALE ANYMORE ,,,so lesson learned the hard way $$$

  13. Let's just say that I now own the "into the wild" Ratti pants and a Kayu tote plus several other goodies from the clearance store today. Everything else I got is transitional and fall but couldn't resist. The pants were about $20.00. There was a lady there that I see quite often that buys and sells on eBay, makes me mad, but I beat her to the punch on the pants. Ha!

    1. Great deal on the Into the Wild pants! I love that print, but couldn't justify spending much on something like the pants as I wouldn't have much opportunity to wear them, but I would be all over them for $20!

    2. Good for you!! Glad you got those pants & other finds too before the reseller could score. You're gonna love those pants; they fit great & are quite versatile.

    4. Yay for the wild pants. I just paid substantially more but at least got them on sale. Will need to be hemmed which will negate some of those savings!

    5. I don't like it at all!!! So disappointed. More off the shoulder and stripes. No wonder they are expanding the clearance store, looks like they will have a lot to unload.

    6. Good god, it looks awful. All those off the shoulder tops at bargain basement prices from this past season and they are doing more??

There was not one item that made me go "ooooh." And, sorry, if you're going to use "real" models, you need to make sure the clothes don't look like shapeless, sad sacks on them. That's just embarrassing.

      Delete
    7. Here's a link with a slide show. I like the pink wide leg pants, but they'll need to be tailored during production; right now they look very editorial to me. Also like the look of the denim skirt & shirt (could be cute for casual/weekend) and the black/white skirt that has a cold shoulder type skirt. There's also a pair of cute pink mules that a model is wearing with the pink satin shorts. With that being said, there's no jewelry to speak of, no beautiful prints and there's very little I would wear to work. Finally, the stripe shirt w/tulle looks like something similar to an item in the Net-a-porter collab.

    8. I agree Beverly, about the models. I think it's awesome they're using a variety of shapes/ages of women, but a lot of the clothing is just so frumpy and unflattering that it does nothing for those beautiful women.
Really not sure what the hell they're doing anymore.

      Delete
    9. I'm not sure who would wear those clothes. And what is with that big pink corsage thing like she just won the Kentucky Derby? And for all the strangeness, why do the guys get pink chinos but the girls do not?

      Delete
    10. I agree, I am not digging it at all. There is always something that I dream won't be $1k (like the candy stripe sequin skirt for SS16) but not a single thing here. I already have most of this stuff. I like the pink pajama top and the pink mules but I need them NOW, not sure I will still like them in 8-10 months...

      Delete
    11. I'm going to look at it again but I agree it's not what I expected or hoped for. It doesn't look like fashion show material to me and seems quite repetitive of this year (surprised to see a Pajama top and off the shoulder items in there). I've been more excited for past shows, disappointing because the expectations for somsack were high and jcrew needs to do well.

      Delete
    12. "Polished comfort"? Um, no.

J Crew is really stuck right now. The offerings are either really boring/dowdy or unwearable because of proportion and cut. I'm not finding much to buy. I've seen some good stuff at Brooks Brothers recently (shocking I know), and that's filling in the J Crew gap in my shopping habit.

      Delete
    13. I know Fashion Week tends to be especially editorial but I always find a print or style or two I am excited about. This time I'm confused and disappointed. The off the shoulder silhouette is going to look very dated by next Spring and the ruffley exaggerated styles and big flowers aren't very wearable IMO. And wear are the lovely colors and prints?

I haven't been buying much of late and therefore haven't had much to contribute here vs. years past, but the Tippi Turtleneck, Long Downtown Field and Drake prints brought me back this season. I hope there will be more to build on that momentum for me but not today.

    14. ITA with @jan and @Ema. Disappointed.... I loved the FW 2016 show and was expecting the same vibe translated to SS17. This looks nothing like it. What's with the Little House on the Prairie skirts, the off the shoulder tops and in general shapeless oversized clothes.
I'm sure I'll find things to love at J Crew come spring, just not what is shown here.

      Delete
    15. My apologies to those of you who love/like this 2017 Spring collection. I keep looking at all the pics posted and cannot find one item I would want or need in my wardrobe.
I have been shopping J. Crew for many, many years and with every new collection there was always so many pieces that I couldn't wait to buy. Now in each roll out it's always the same old same old. Quality has not gotten better. It is disappointing and frustrating! I loved J. Crew. It stood for beautifully tailored pieces with creative details. Sorry but those ruffles on the skirts and big flowers just don't do it for me! I would love to hear what others have to say!

    16. I think it is tough to make things fresh and new only with solid colors and stripes, especially if you are recycling (I mean, come one, paint-splashed chinos and sequin striped tee again? How many times did they do that). It lacked the wow factor, IMO (I am not even talking about wearability.) I personally like the sateen shorts but they look very occasion-y, ad everything that is at least mildly exciting in the Collection.

  17. No store visit for me, but I did call my go-to-store to place an order. The store tends to have better prices and much quicker delivery to me if they have the items.

Two merino slim v-necks are headed my way; one in navy the other in charcoal. I brought out my existing ones and they look alittle too past their prime, time to replace them.

While on the phone she mentioned the store will be receiving stock on Tuesday. Not sure if it's a restock or new items.
