J.Crew Reviews {straight from the JCAs!}

This is the weekly "J.Crew Reviews {straight from the JCAs}" post, to help each other share our reviews.

So if you have recently purchased, or stopped by a J.Crew store to try on an item (or two) from J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Also, this request is not just limited to clothes. Please feel free to discuss bags, shoes, jewelry, accessories, etc.

In particular, if you could mention a few of the noteworthy details like fit, size, fabric, and the like— that would be fantastic! Thanks in advance! :)

  1. Wearing the grid-print Teddie sweater from Factory today - paired with the longer-length silk sleeveless collared top from a few seasons ago in ivory, navy Old Navy Pixie pants, & the dark aubgergine patent Martina wedges. I cannot say enough good things about this sweater! It's 100% cotton but feels like merino wool, it is that ridiculously soft. I'm a 10-12 right now & the large fits perfectly. It skims the body without being clingy & the length hits me a few inches below my hips so it is certainly not a box like so many JC sweaters are nowadays. I bought the leopard Teddie as well which is identical to this except for the print so now I can't wait to wear that one!

    The retail v-neck swing sweater & cherry-print Tippi are on their way to me today so... fingers crossed they both work out.

    2. Taylor--I've been holding out on the grid print Teddie because I want a better price, but it keeps being excluded from promos and is holding steady at $40. Did you pay less than that? -lep33shops

    3. @SC Thanks! I miss it too. I deactivated my account & I guess left it idle for too long - it's been deleted permanently & I can't get it back! I miss seeing everyone's posts.

      @Lauren - Hi! I actually did but I used my birthday discount last month. I haven't seen it less than $39.95 either. It's a really great sweater - I'd have paid the $39.95 for it! I have received many compliments on it today as well. :)

  2. Putting this in here because I have to share this crazy with SOMEBODY: I buy & sell on Poshmark. I was just checking out the latest J Crew listings & a seller has two used scoop-neck 3/4-sleeve tees listed for the low-low price of $80. EIGHTY DOLLARS FOR WORN T-SHIRTS SHUT UP NO STOP IT RIGHT NOW.

  3. A handful of Madewell reviews:

    Chambray classic ex-boyfriend shirt: The black buttons definitely add interest and a bit of personality. They're spaced rather far apart, though, with only six buttons down the placket, and even on my boyish figure there was some unfortunate gapping. Size XXS measures 35: at the chest, 36” at the hip, and is 28” long. 100% cotton.

    Fleet jacket: I wore my outbound jacket into the ground, and was hoping the fleet jacket could take its place. The fleet does have a nice hefty fabric, 100% cotton, but it’s cut notably smaller than the outbound. I sized up one from my usual XXS, and really should’ve gone up two sizes as the shoulders were still a bit tight and the waist a bit high. The XS measures an even 34” at the chest, waist, and hip. The “dark metal” color is a warm grey, not quite as red as in the online pix, and nicely weathered. Made in China.

    Rivet & Thread button-front boyjean: I finally tried these! My usual size 25 was comfortably loose at the waist but too big through the hips/thighs. Not a bad look, and reminded me of wearing actual men’s jeans in college (before boyjeans were made/marketed to women). Measurements for size 25 are 11.25” rise, 26” waist, 29”inseam.

  4. Jcrew: contrast tie-front silk top: since I'm obsessed with Chanel-style and only really wear black and white (or whitish!) I was eyeing this top online. The solid color was on sale as of today but not the color I wanted with the black tie. Went to the store to make some returns and got lucky. The vintage champagne color was in the ale section. I'm usually a 0 or 2 in tops. The 0 was tight and I tried the 2 in another color but opted to get the 4. I think this looks better a little blousier. I have a long narrow torso and not much chest wise, but I am broad under my arms from working outage this size doesn't pull at all across the upper back. Didn't love it with the dark jeans I was wearing but I think with really distressed jeans it could work, but I'll probably wear with black pants or skirts, I think it will look great with the faux leather pleated mini.

    Stopped at Madewell and they still had 30% off sale and I was able to get the mock neck sleeveless top in black. In my usual XS it's nicely fitted but not skin tight. Some. Reviews said to size up but I found it TTS.

  5. Bought and promptly returned the cashmere short sleeve tee. True to size but not what I remember cashmere feeling like. Left a review on the website; user name Heart of the garden. Was going to leave a review of the long sleeve cashmere tee too, but I just never got around to it. Whatever happened to j crews quality cashmere? Customer service contacted me regarding my feedback and claimed that this is Italian cashmere. It may be Italian cashmere for j crew now but it wasn't always this bland.

  6. Just received the LEOPARD TEDDIE SWEATER from factory - love it! Fit is TTS. I typically take an XS and this one fits pretty well. It is lightweight but not at all sheer. It is 100% so should be easy to care for. Got it for about $32 with the cardholder promo last week - well worth the price. I really like that the background is white - feels fresh to me.

    I also got the WIDE-STRIPE SWEATER in Navy/White. Just did a quick try on with this one and I think it's also a keeper. Fit was good. Classic sweater.
