Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SUMMER sale, or to see some new SUMMER arrivals {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  2. There was a large update online this morning with new promo-priced items and lots of new markdowns (Merino Tippi sweater in school-of-fish print - $69.99, Water-ski girls silk tank - $99.99, and Collection café capri in Ratti regatta print - $139.99 to name a few). I've noted them all in this post on my blog. Enjoy your weekend everyone! :)

  4. I wonder if anyone has a review of the Large Bucket Bag? I've only seen one review and there was no fit picture. I've been watching the price for a month or so, and it's been stuck at $250 on sale. I think I may just bite the bullet and get it this weekend with 40% off. (But, I always have bad luck with final sale items.)

    1. Hi Shellye, I bought the Old Lace color yesterday in store for $113.99 - it was marked $189.99 minus 40%. It is very similar to the Coach Bucket Duffle bag in terms of size and shape, but with a shorter strap which I like - it seems to stay put better and not fall off my shoulder. The pebbled leather seems like it will be easier to maintain than smooth, and certainly won't show scratches as much. I am not an organized purse person, I prefer to just throw everything in and go. If I did need to have "everything in its place" this probably wouldn't be the ideal bag - it really just is a big deep bucket with a zippered pouch on one side and smaller pocket + phone pocket on the other side (interior). In terms of fit, I am 5'9" and the top of the bag hits at my armpit, and the bottom of the bag hits at my hip bone. The leather is supple and molds easily to the body. I looked at this for a long time as well but couldn't quite do $278 for another bag. At $114 I couldn't resist, and frankly it is perfect for me. I love it! HTH.

    2. Thanks, opheliasmom! Per your review, I ordered it! My purse style is a bit Russian nesting doll - a bag within a bag within a bag within a bag - so the depth should be great to hold pouches of all sizes. I was hoping J. Crew would redo the Uptown Tote, but this should be a nice change of pace. I'm interested to see how the Sienna Brown leather ages.

  5. Not visiting until Fall! I go maybe three or four times per month and I have not bought a single thing from a B&M since I bought a pair of ankle stretch skinnies in January. Had I waited, I would have got them even cheaper.

J.Crew has been so uninspired lately. Just sent a $600 box back to them - and now that final sale is back, I won't be ordering anything for a while.

My 2 J.Crews (Boston and Cambridge) have been pretty disappointing. I handled the blue whale tippi and was shocked at how plasticky it is. The same sweaters, tops, pants, and shoes on sale forever. For whatever reason, the discounts aren't as great as y'all have been reporting. Except for the cafe capris, the size selection is pretty lame too.

So done with the cafe capris. The legs are so much wider than how they look on the catalog models! I don't get it. I think they pin them for the catalog - or, as someone else remarked, maybe they cut them differently once they produce them?

Had a silk foulard cafe capri that I was hoping to tailor - but then I ordered an express ankle pant and was shocked how well it fit! Slim, elegant thighs and calves! I don't want to pay to have my J.Crew ones tailored the same way - so back it went. Sniff sniff.

    1. I know what you mean about the whale tippi. I love critters and the whales looked evil to me on the sweater!!! I was really disappointed. I did pick up in May the seahorse tee with a cardholder discount. Only regular store item I have bought in two years other than at factory store.

    2. I agree...it really has been uninspired. I love J.Crew, but lately, I haven't even popped into the store b/c I usually walk out of there empty handed.

    3. I know. I actually walked by the store when I had a rare chance to be in the big city mall. I shocked myself! My time was very limited and I didn't want to waste it so went to Vera Bradley instead!

  6. I got a email this morning from the Crew showing a model making a stupid face with her mouth open showing her tongue. Of ALL the photos they could have used, why this one? I hated it in their catalog and I hate it in an email. Who is running the marketing department....a couple of 10 year old girls?

  11. I am going home to the US in a few weeks, so I am going to hold out until then to see things "live and in person". :o) I am also saving my pretty pennies for the Nordstrom Anniversary Sales that starts with Early Access next week! I love my July trips back to Jersey!

  12. I went to Mall of Georgia J.Crew. I got toothpick jeans for $40, a store only black and white tee (almost looks like very small ikat patterns) for $15, the blue linen dot skirt for $23, and mint colored face nail polish for $3 (they took the 15% teacher discount on top of the 40%). I'm really pleased with my finds because I'm trying to find things that are wearable for fall. The jeans definitely were such a great buy and the tee will work in the Fall as well. I needed more Spring/ Summer teaching clothes so the skirt fit that bill. I probably won't be visiting J. Crew again till September. I got to say I'm not too thrilled with the Fall sneak peek. However, I am pleased oxblood is still big, since I bought a ton of it last year.

  13. This is a bit OT, apologies.

Has anyone seen a rain jacket that looks a lot like the Downtown Field Jacket in navy, but with a hood? Doesn't have to be J.Crew.

I saw it on a girl today, and I forgot to ask her where she got it.

    1. Banana Republic has released one a few seasons (I believe Fall) in a row. The one I tried from there did have a hood hidden in the collar. Overall it wasn't a good fit for me, but it was a pretty good stand-in for the J.Crew one. Keep an eye out on BR's Fall offerings as it may show up again. Hope this helps!

    2. Thank you! I thought the hood looked nice for rain.

  15. Not for me...I hit the factory ( much easier on the wallet ) and liking the summer offerings more than retail this year.
but the biggest reason is I DO NOT DO FINAL SALE. I have wasted way too much $$ in the past with some big mistakes. I learned the hard way...just don't bite ! Carolyn from Vancouver

    3. Chelsea, I saw the pale citrus boardwalk skirt for $29.99 on 7/5. Many stores have not marked their 2nd & 3rd cuts on the ticket. It should ring up at that price even if it doesn't say so on the ticket. HTH

  17. Park Meadows store was well stocked in most sale items. Saw a few roller girl dresses that are sold out online. Parrot pendant necklace was $30 before 40% off. Wild side bangle was $39.99 before 40% off, and the gold tone bangles that come in navy or mint http://www.ebay.com/itm/J-Crew-Mint-And-Gold-Tone-Bangle-/181120933940?pt=Fashion_Jewelry&ssPageName=RSS%3AB%3ASHOP%3AUS%3A101&hash=item2a2ba62034&nma=true&si=cs7Lf6j1lMT6N3Z8B%252BsxvUHdq1M%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557

  19. Some B&Ms are bringing out some old items from last winter. I bought a pair of light grey wool café capris for $11.99. Pencil skirts in red & vivid jade were ticked at $39.99.

OT - If you are at the mall today, BR sale section is an additional 50% off. Also Saks and NM discounts are up to 70%. I bought 2 pair of Castaner espadrilles for $83/$93. IMO they are nicer than J Crew and Tory Burch.

  23. Collection Bow Ratti Regatta Pumps are on sale for $249.99 before the 40% off. They don't show up online unless you type in the description and I had to get CS to apply the 40%.

  26. Dearest J. Crew Aficionada and loyal readers!

I have been hunting for a pair of Lucie Gold Leather Kitten Heels (sz 9.5 or 10) that I first found by browsing J. Crew shoes for my wedding and landed on this website. (I have been having a heck of a time finding a pair that will work!).

Does anyone happen to have a pair of Lucie Gold Leather Kitten heels (size 9.5 or 10) that they would be willing to sell to me? I have been watching ebay but am having no luck.

    Thanks a million for reading!!
    Tara

  28. Does anyone have the Collection jeweled-collar top? It is item # 34361. I gambled on Final Sale this morning and am looking for reviews after the fact. The price was really good ($83) and I'd been stalking it for a while. Because it seems delicate and was a pop-back, I am expecting something to be wrong with it, but maybe I'll get lucky. If you have it or have tried it on, what did you think? Please tell me anything bad about it too! Thanks :)

    1. It's white and long-sleeved with a round collar-less looking neckline, buttons all the way down the front, jewels around the round neckline.

    2. cate - Haven't tried or even seen that one irl. It says it's cotton stretch, so perhaps it's like fabric on the s/sleeve jeweled collar top. My guess is you gambled good.

      Delete
    3. I will need the stretch, I normally buy a size 10 but I bought the 8. I haven't seen the s/sleeve jeweled collar top, unfortunately. I don't think my stores had either one (we don't get much Collection, if any). I like the looks of that one too. Thanks Gigi!

  29. Hi Cate, I have been hunting for that particular top in size 8 so if it does not work out for you email me at markshell@embarqmail.com if you need to sell it. I can do paypal. Thanks! :)

    ReplyDelete
  30. Oh and Cate, I haven't seen it or tried it but have a similar one with a removable collar and always need an 8 in long sleeves at JCrew due to my wide shoulders and ape-length arms, lol. I hope it works out for you though!

    1. I have wide shoulders too, it makes buying fitted tops tricky, and I can't stand it if the shoulders feel tight. I will let you know if it doesn't work out. It has been elusive, hasn't it? Hope you get one one way or another!

  32. I went to the Factory Store this weekend and the store was having a store wide sale on everything. It was 50% off everything. Sale items were reduced to an additional 50% and final sale were reduced to an additional 60%. For example, currently online the Clare cardigans are 24.50. But in store they are $12.25! I got a pair of he Factory Classic Suede Ballet flats for$24.75. I didn't realize the additional 50% off was an in store only promo! I would have gotten more things!!!
