Saturday's Offer: 30% Off Knit Tops & Tees

"Thanks!" to many of you, including GigiOfCa (in this post), who let us know the following.

For today's "7 Days of Summer, 7 Days, 7 Sales" promotion... J.Crew is offering 30% off knit tops and tees for Women, Men, and Crewcuts using promo code SATURDAY. The fine print includes:
*Offer valid on purchases of full-price knits and tees in J.Crew stores and at jcrew.com on July 13, 2013, 12:01am to 11:59pm ET only. Offer not valid in J.Crew Factory stores, Ludlow Shops or the 769 Madison Avenue store, at jcrewfactory.com or on phone orders. Offer cannot be applied to previous purchases or the purchase of gift cards and cannot be redeemed for cash or used in combination with any other offer. Offer not valid on third-party branded merchandise or women's knit pants. Discount on store purchases applied at register. To redeem online, enter code SATURDAY in the promo code box at checkout. Limit one promo code per order. Offer valid in the U.S. and Canada only. Terms of offer are subject to change.
Some of you might have noticed that several items in the promotion today (like the Long-Sleeve Pocket Tee in Stripe and the Maritime Blazer in Placed Stripe) were also part of yesterday's 40% off Summer Layers promo. That is right- yesterday's promotion was an additional 10% off savings. Not sure why J.Crew did not just up it to 40%... At least you get a second chance for some savings on these items.

Will you be taking advantage of this latest promotion? What are your thoughts on this sale (7 days, 7 different sales)?

  1. so many of the links online are not working [vintage tank, favorite tank, etc]. guess i'll wait a few hours & see if they fix their site...

  2. This whole 7 days/7 sales has just been kind of odd. Just take all the summer stuff, mark it down (or mark down the summer colors) and offer a % off your whole order if you want to get rid of other items. It seems like by the time this is over, most of the stuff will have been on sale at one point - either 30%, 40%, or both. Who could keep up? Plus, since there's been no free ship/no min as part of the promotions, you have to weigh how much you want to pay shipping...or what will be on sale the next day. I think it hasn't been the best model for sales.

    1. I think it's kind of genius on their part. It's keeping people coming back to their web site to look every day. And then without the free (or $5) shipping, people might do ride-alongs to get up to the free shipping minimum. Not saying I like it as a customer, but I have gone to look every day at a time when I am bored with their stuff. At 40% off, I tried a few things I might not have otherwise. Some of it is a pretty good deal because it's new stuff (geometric eyelet top for example) or non-summer stuff (like cashmere). Which does make the sale kind of odd, in that regard. Boden does some different sale strategies, maybe J. Crew is taking a cue from them.

  3. Silver_lining--you've nailed the problem with the whole sale idea.

  4. Alexis, absolutely true about getting a better deal on the maritime yesterday. Silliness, I tell ya. My prediction is that Sunday's promo will be 40% off final sale. Let's strike up the band, silver_lining. lol

FYI, ballet flats are 20% off in-store. I think that includes the Quorra. As always, you never really know till you get your items scanned. I reviewed the ponte peplum in stripe, which is a part of today's promo. It's also good in-store.

  5. Gigi. I bet you are right about Sunday being an extra % off clearance. My other thought is maybe 20-30% off entire site. They are running out of categories. I popped into the store to make a return and flipped through the sale section but nothing called out to me. I'm ready for more markdowns and an extra 40%. Bring it on Jcrew and I'll bite!

  6. I love the vintage cap sleeve t...when I tried to click on it today...full price without putting a promo code in...it was saying final sale and they won't ship until Sept 23???? No thanks.

Additional 40% off sale in stores today...nothing great. Everything is so picked over...same stuff from a month ago. I did notice they have the Maritime placed stripe blazer at $89.99 plus the 40% off in store versus the full price online.

  7. i might need to sign up for a 12 step program to kick my J. Crew habit!! i just stocked up on tanks, boatneck tees, v-neck tees... as far as the free shipping issue, i usually order in two sizes or throw in something i know i'll return. i refuse to pay shipping on any online order ;D

  8. Totally OT but if you are at the mall today. Banana Republic has marked down the Milly collection and then all markdowns are an additional 25% off instore. They play price games just like Jcrew. Prices are better in store compared to online and you get the extra %off. Friday was extra 40% off today just 25%.

    1. Thanks for the tip! Anyone who has a BR Luxe card can always call any store in the US and get free shipping, PLUS the store will honor any ongoing in-store promos. Just use the "find in store" button on the site to locate your item.

    2. Thanks, Rose. No BR employee has eveer told me about the free shipping. Good info!

    3. You also receive free shipping from the stores if you are a GAP silver card holder.

  9. Thank you so much for sharing!! I was also able to get another pair of mari sandals for $40 with the additional 40% off. I still don't think I'm personally very find of the 7 days 7 sales promo though. I want to know I'm getting the best deal that day not worried I should wait or I shouldn't have waited.

  10. Trekked out to my outlets, and Factory had 60% off clearance. Pretty picked over, but found a nice shirt for DH and some white denim shorts for me, for a grand total of $28! I did see some of the Madewell holepunch flats (which I love!) there as well.

    1. I LOVE the holepunch flats! Did you happen to notice the price?

    2. silver_lining, I saw them at a Factory store a couple of weeks ago and I want to say they were in the $50-or-$60-ish range. Hope someone else can tell you for sure.

    3. silver_lining -- So sorry, I was running out, so only noticed the original tag sticker on there of $98 and didn't check for the factory price. Flats were all like 40% off though, so might have just been that? I definitely saw both red and tan though. They're super comfortable!

    4. Thank you both - I called my local Factory store and they were 30% off the sticker price - so $68.60. I don't see them go much lower than that on madewell.com, and my size in the brown was sold out online, so I did a charge-send. Only $4.95 for shipping, which I can totally deal with. These shoes are really so comfortable - I wore mine all over NYC last month.

  12. Shopping Celle, so maybe tonite will be an addtl 30 or 40% off final sale? They blew it each & every day with no free shipping on the promo items.

I love all the yawns and growns. lol!

    1. Yeah they're going to have this same stuff in the sale section come next March, it will still all be hanging around. I can only conclude that they don't want to get rid of it that badly, without free shipping. Although, is swim still always free shipping and returns (or did they change that?)? Before any sale update this morning, there were 227 swim pieces in the sale section. And most of what I clicked on was Final Sale. Final Sale swimwear is not appealing! A good deal if you know your size and you need swimwear, but... I don't!

    2. I put a full-price suit in my cart to see if there is free shipping. The 40% off applied, but $8.95 for shipping. No thanks!!

    3. Free shipping both ways on swimwear "for the season" ended this past Wed, 7/10. I would never buy swim on final sale unless I'd already tried it.

    4. I would have ordered some tees...but I'd have to order alot of them to avoid shipping. Geez, forget it!

  13. I look so refreshed this morning sinceI didn't wake up early and check for popbacks. No need. Gigi I hope you are right about extra % off starting tomorrow. I did not purchase anything retail or online this entire week of promos. Next time they need to through in free shipping or a lower minimum to move some merchandise.

    2. Shopping Celle - I didn't shop any of the online promos this week. I went in to place an order for a couple of things so I could receive free shipping. There should totally be free shipping for cardholders.

Stray Cat - I wouldn't pay $9 to ship tees either.

In other news, I reviewed the Mari sandals in portabello. $179.99 online vs $149.99 in-store.

  14. I almost ordered a swimsuit that came back in stock in my size yesterday, but had a feeling that today might be % off swim and decided to wait. Glad I did, since my size was still in stock this morning, and I ended up getting it with the 40% off and free shipping (since my order was placed by my VPS)...yay! :)

  15. Review of the marled linen v-neck sweater. $49.99 online vs $39.99 in-store.

  16. The promos of this past week have been disappointing. The only thing I was looking for was the Vacationland blouse, but without the additional 30-40% off, I felt it was still too expensive and I let it sit in my cart. I guess the price was still fine for others as it sold out yesterday. Oh well. :-(

Off topic, I posted an IRL outfit pic with the Lillian suede sandals on my blog here. These are excellent sandals, the suede is so comfortable against the skin. As others have commented, they do run slightly large. I went down a half size from my usual 7.5 to size 7 and they fit really well.

    1. I should also have mentioned that the J. Crew Panama hat has been an excellent buy. I got it during the 30% off promo last month and I have been wearing it constantly, it is perfect for the blazing sun and humidity we get here in Toronto.

  17. I was only tempted by a few of the promos, but saw several things in the sale section I wanted to purchase. Thankfully my VPS was willing to honor the in-store 40% of promo on my online/catalogue order. Alternatively, catalogue will apply the 40% off to any online order for sale merchandise you place with them while in store. So if you see something in the sale section you'd like to purchase, it's worth a call your VPS.
