Surprise! J.Crew & Madewell Sends Their Love

image from "Bichonluvr's Closet"

"Thanks!" to sartorial theorist (in this post), who shared the following delightful surprise/ news with us:
I am totally shopped out, but I did receive two surprises from J.Crew and Madewell. Madewell sent me one notebook, and J.Crew sent me three notebooks in a box. :) I guess they are nice gestures.
Also "thanks!" to Suzy (of the lovely "Bichonluvr's Closet" blog) who posted an image of the gift being sent out from J.Crew this year. (Please check out her "Watch for a Present from Jenna!" post, where the above image is originally from.)

This is not the first time J.Crew has delivered Holiday presents to lucky JCAs. The last two years, they sent a planner for the end of the year. Although I think this year's version is a lot more useful.

As for Madewell, I am not sure if they have ever sent out gifts to their preferred customers. In any case, it is nice to see this gesture being extended to those customers too.

I should also add, I have no clue how J.Crew & Madewell determine which customers receive what gifts. Especially since I rarely get them. (Well, I did get a planner once. But that was it.) I believe it has to do with your spending level over the year. But I could be wrong. Their selection criteria is a mystery to me, even though I am sure J.Crew has it down to a science!

Lastly, this is wonderful gesture for loyal customers! It is a great gift and more importantly, a touching offer for those who receive it. :)

So check your mailbox in the next few days to see if you got something extra special from J.Crew. :)

  2. I seem to get JC's gift each year and my spending is sporadic to say the least. Interestingly, I haven't shopped at Anthropologie in about 2 years and I got a gift from them last week. A box of delicious caramels. For someone who likes to eat as much as I do, it was well received and made me very happy. While the notebooks and day timers are a nice thought, they don't get used in my household and I've given them away every year.

  3. I received the notebooks from JC this year and have received the planners in the past. I have heard that it could be based on your spending but that your personal shopper may also have you added to the list?

  4. I have received the gifts in the past but this year my spending is down dramatically so we'll see.

I did receive an item ordered on the current promo. How and why they shipped it here so fast is a mystery, especially with free shipping. Inside there was the J.Crew 101 Gift Ideas booklet and on the front and back there are partial covers, each with a 20% off code good until December 30. Did anyone else get one of those?

  5. My husband received a nice Rizzoli book from Jcrew by Glenn O'Brien (How To Be A Man). He is not much of a shopper so the gift is very much appreciated. I have received the agendas every year but we'll see this year since I finally got off the crewlade wagon.

  6. I was just thinking about this yesterday, and wondering if anyone had received gifts from J.Crew this year. I have in the past, but so far nothing this year. Hopefully soon, though! :)

  7. Got my gifts today. I was quite surprised. I really didn't think that I spent that much this year. But then again every year my resolution to shop less always tends to go off the rails. I didn't get a gift last year (even though I think that I spent just as much) but I did the two years before.

Who knows how JC makes their lists but I'm happy to be on it. I should also note that I receive almost every, if not every cardholder coupon, discount and perk.

I'm incredibly unlikely to receive anything from Madewell as I rarely shop there. In fact I just made my first major purchase from them in November (most of the stuff is going back). Their aesthetic is just not me. Love the Archive boots though!

  8. I bought so much this year, returned so little, and got zip in the mail. In the past, I have sent gentle emails to customer service from time to time explaining why it upsets me when I'm excluded from nearly every promotion they extend to their "special customers", and ultimately it changes nothing. There's no rhyme or reason to their marketing; I've finally decided to accept that.
