Mother's Day is Sunday (plus, a free gift…that smells good)

J.Crew' is offering a complimentary gift of their Arquiste® for J.Crew perfume rollerball with purchases of $125 or ore in the their stores this Saturday, May 7th.

Here is the thing... Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't this the same perfume that languished in the sale section for a year at like $3 at one point plus had mediocre reviews? I mean it's an alright gift, but not enough to spend $125+ over. Just saying.

What are your thoughts on the gift to customers? Do you think it is worth it or a nice touch? Please share!

Surprise! J.Crew Sends Their Love

I am happy with anything J.crew sends over for Christmas but this year is particularly lovely: a Carriere Freres candle in Lavender. In his note, Mickey asked how they can improve next year to make the cardmember experience better.

As JCAs already know, J.Crew sends Holiday presents to lucky JCAs every year. In the past it has been day planners and notebooks, as well as fruits and luggage (yes, luggage!) J.Crew even sends their male customers a different, more gender appropriate gift (like a silk pocket square).

I should also add, I do not really know how J.Crew determines which customers receive what gifts. I believe it has to do with your spending level over the year. But I could be wrong. Their selection criteria is a mystery to me, even though I am sure J.Crew has it down to a science! 

Lastly, this is wonderful gesture for loyal customers! It is a great gift and more importantly, a touching offer for those who receive it. :)

Hi. I received mine yesterday. It was nicely packaged and included an apology note and a 2014 day planner. I was surprised as I don't even recall having shipping issues during the holidays. I thought it was my rewards card at first.

So how do some customers get these apology-gifts? No clue. Honestly. No clue. However, it is a lovely and thoughtful way of saying sorry to those customers.

Surprise! J.Crew Sends Their Love

...I received a "Thank You" gift from J. Crew of two Grafika notebooks. The note says they asked the company to produce them in these colors and patterns just for our Cardmembers. ...

Also "thanks!" to Suzy (in this post), who also shared:

I received the notebook gifts today, but also included is a $50.00 donation gift card where you can log on and select a charity to donate it to. Did you all see that? or get that? It's written on a card enclosed with the notebooks. Don't throw it out!

This is not the first time J.Crew has delivered Holiday presents to lucky JCAs. Last year J.Crew sent out notebooks. The two years before last, they sent a planner

So how do some customers get these gifts? I believe it has to do with your spending level over the year. Don't feel too bummed out if you did not get one. (I never do. Except for that one time.)

I am totally shopped out, but I did receive two surprises from J.Crew and Madewell. Madewell sent me one notebook, and J.Crew sent me three notebooks in a box. :) I guess they are nice gestures.

Also "thanks!" to Suzy (of the lovely "Bichonluvr's Closet" blog) who posted an image of the gift being sent out from J.Crew this year. (Please check out her "Watch for a Present from Jenna!" post, where the above image is originally from.)

As for Madewell, I am not sure if they have ever sent out gifts to their preferred customers. In any case, it is nice to see this gesture being extended to those customers too.

I should also add, I have no clue how J.Crew & Madewell determine which customers receive what gifts. Especially since I rarely get them. (Well, I did get a planner once. But that was it.) J.Crew Goes To Italy {& shares!}

A big "thanks!" to the incredible GigiOfCa (who runs the Gigi's Gone Shopping blog) who shared the following surprise and images with us! (Just click on any of the images to view larger).

I recvd a little cardboard envelope from J Crew today. ...Inside the envelope is a booklet about J Crew's trip to Italy. To the left is a DVD that has About a Shoe, About a Print and About a Thread Count on it. I haven't played it, so I can't say if the features are longer than what we've seen online. In the book there's a little blurb about the city they visited for each particular segment. And the rest of the pages are pictures from the factories with quotes from Jenna, Frank Muytjens and a couple of Italian factory owners or workers.

I did not get this package (and seriously doubt that I will). Nonetheless, congrats to all those JCAs who got one! What an incredible gift to receive from J.Crew. I have to say, these little touches are truly what separates J.Crew apart from other retailers.

So keep an eye out for the "J.Crew Goes to Italy" package in your mailbox! {yey!}

In the "Surprise! J.Crew Sends Their Love {& earrings}" post, several JCAs mentioned getting a special gift of the Heirloom Flora Earrings (Item 19493; $45.00) from J.Crew in the mail. Well it turns out J.Crew is sending out a little something somethin' for the men too!

As shown in the image above, JB (the blogger behind the Thirty Selvedge blog) got in the mail the Striped Sterling-Silver Tie Clip (Item 21821; $60.00) from J.Crew.

JB mentions in his post:

First, J.Crew offered free shipping (with no minimum!) to certain customers until October 11th (refer to here and here). Now, J.Crew continues to offer some pretty fabulous perks to some of its clients...

OMG - I just got a gift from J Crew - Heirloom Flora earrings. It came with a cardboard folder that says "We hope you enjoy this gift (just our little way of saying thank you)" and a card (like a rewards card) that has "a number to call your own..." and a toll-free number on it. It didn't come with free shipping, but it does say at the bottom of the folder "PS keep an eye out for emails introducing our special benefits." My husband asked "Why did they send you that?" I said "because I spend too much money".
