Several people have mentioned that the shoes and flats are not comfortable -- anyone have any opinion of the comfort level of the boots? I'm specifically looking at the tall leather Nottinghams. Are they tts? Thanks!
ReplyDeleteChelsea,
ReplyDeleteI don't know about the leather boots but my sister and I love our wellies:)
Yes, the shoes (at least the flats) I have tried are horrible. Poor quality for the price and not comfortable at all. Save you $ I would not pay more than $30-40 for a pair of JCrew flats! The first pair I ever ordered were defective too!
Chelsea, i have Nottinghams flat leather tall boots in pony brown and i love them. They look great and are super comfy. Fit TTS imo. I even got compliments from some guys at work that never ever compliment. i bought them with 20% off and they are worth every penny. also before i sent $$$ i look everywhere and did not see anything comparable for less money, i wanted super clean line almond shaped brown boot made of nice leather. Question i have for fellow JCAs, how do I care for napa leather? My PS told me not to do anything, what do you think?
ReplyDeleteThe Templeton tall boots are also on special. Anyone have any opinions on those? I so need a pair of boots!
ReplyDeleteAnd I too second Genny on the wonderful wellies! I've worn mine a ton and just love them!! And I get tons of compliments. Who knew a rubber boot would garner such attention?
Oh, I got excited seeing the Pippas on sale but unfortunately the wild orchid color that I want is still full price. J.Crew, I'm not paying $200 for shoes with the synthetic lining and sole.
ReplyDeleteGuess my three pairs of Lulus will have to satisfy my desire for bowed peep-toes.
ajc, I live in a rainy city, so I always waterproof my leather boots. You can buy napa leather/suede spray at Target in their shoe section. It works well, imo, and extends the life of the shoes/boots. It also won't stain.
ReplyDeleteShuLvr, if you're looking for bowed peep-toes, Ann Taylor has a fabulous pair that are leather, and way more comfortable than any pair of JC shoes. They're also doing free shipping now, and 30% off orders of $200+ with code ITALY30. ;)
ReplyDeleteAlthough I love the look of JC shoes, I think the quality does not justify the price. Plus, the Abby pumps I'm interested in seeing IRL aren't on sale. Are the Pippa's basically the Joley's with a bow? I'm thinking of looking into some shoe clips just to mix things up. I was looking at absolutelyaudrey.com and they had some really cute ones!
This spastic post brought to you by one too many cups of coffee. ;)
I've tried on the Mollys, for being so high they are comfortable because of the platforms. They are cute!
ReplyDeleteChelsea, the boots are really comfortable. I have heeled and flat ones, and they are all very comfortable for all day wear!
I bought a pair of J Crew boots about 4-5 years ago that are similar to the Templeton tall leather flat boots. I love, LOVE those boots and they are still in great shape! I always get compliments on them. The leather still looks wonderful and they have held up well. Worth every dollar I spent on them!!
ReplyDeleteI'm now eyeing the Bronwyn tall burnished leather midheel boots. Anyone have any comments on how these fit or wear?
I just ordered some flats over at Piperlime yesterday. I'm not seeing any cute flats for the price I want to pay at JC.
ReplyDeleteI used to only buy JC shoes but I'm going to branch out. I just don't want to pay $100+ for shoes unless they are boots. I've also noticed the quality of heels and flats have gone down compared to few years ago.
silver_lining, thanks for the info and code for the AT shoes. I'll have to check them out. I realized that I haven't even worn my metallic Lulus yet so I should really consider whether I need yet *another* pair of bowed peep toes. I enjoy multiples but maybe it's getting a bit much when I haven't even worn what I've had for months already. :-{
ReplyDeleteIf your B&M carries shoes check it out before you buy online. I bought a pair of black Spencer MJs on Monday (very cute and comfy for high heel with no platform). I only bought them because they were marked down to $99.99. They are still $215 online :( I thought I got a great deal until I went to DSW yesterday and snatched a pair of Stuart Weitzman black patent musa pumps for $108 (about $300 original, down to $179 and 40% off). Now, these are DIVINE and I don't feel like they have heels at all... Now I really should return Spencers, right? This will take some will power...
ReplyDeleteI bought the pippa flats when they first came out...they're not cut right and the top of the shoe digs into your foot. Just a word of warning, try them on in B&M before buying...
ReplyDeleteI'm not planning on taking advantage of this promo. I just recently ordered the AT bowed peep toes in black and porcini, during the 40% off/FS promo, so I got them for $93 each.
ReplyDeleteJCAs: "Thanks!" to JR who let us know that J.Crew updated their Facebook/Fan feature. Enter code JCADDICT for free shipping (no min). This expires 10/29/09.
ReplyDeleteHas anyone tried the Juliet or Joley style shoes, and are they comfortable at all? The tortoise pattern is adorable! I have a pair of silver crackle metallic Claudia pumps that aren't comfortable (although still very cute!), and the Juliet style looks similar so I'm afraid those will be uncomfortable too.
ReplyDeleteOT but anyone else notice Madewell items available for purchase on JCrew.com? Whaaaat!?
ReplyDeletecheck it out
Guess this is a way to avoid having an actual madewell e-commerce site..
Idc, the Juliets are pretty uncomfortable (narrow at the toe) but the Joleys are very comfortable. HTH!
ReplyDeleteOT - but the Velvet Eden blazers are now back to FP at $148
ReplyDeleteThanks EC- that was the problem with the Claudias too! I'm going to try the Joleys... at least we can return sale items now if they don't work out!!
ReplyDeleteIDC - I have the Joley heels in the tortoise and I love them. I ordered my usual size 9, and debated for weeks if I needed a 9.5,but after wearing them around my apartment with socks, they fit perfectly and are super comfortable. I recommend them, they go with everything!
ReplyDeleteI caved and ordered the joleys in the tortise pattern. I've been eyeing them for weeks. I love my Juliets and think they are very comfortable!
ReplyDeleteI have to defend J.Crew's shoes here! I love their heels, ballet flats, and boots. Find them all to be just as comfortable as other brands. And my ballet flats last me awhile, though it is true they have no padding or arch support, no other ballet flats I've seen do either.
ReplyDeleteWishing the Nottingham high heel boots were on sale!
cortney joy: the Nottingham Tall Leather High heel boot (in Pony Brown only) is on promotion at the Southampton, NY store for $199. Their phone number is 631/287-2869
ReplyDeleteI love my juliets too!! They actually aren't terrible now that I have broken them in, but I wish they were more shaped like a real foot.
ReplyDeleteCan't remember who was asking, but
ReplyDeleteNotthingham - I usually wear 8.5 or 9 and was very surprised when I tried them on and needed a 9.5
Tortoise Joleys-same! I had to go up to a 9.5. I LOVE these shoes and cannot say that enough!!
I have a few pairs of Juliets too and love them! Stable medium height heel, soft leather and not too pinchy on the toes. I can wear them for hours on my feet before I have to switch, and I think they look great with slim jeans and skirts!
ReplyDeleteI got the Juliets in pale pink suede/patent leather and they are really cute! The only problems are that the toe box is a bit narrow and the quality of the suede isn't that great. They make my legs look longer, but I doubt they will last beyond this season.
ReplyDeleteI have both the Juliet's and the Joley's and I find both pretty comfortable but the Juliet's slightly more so. Shoe trends come and go and the peep toe may eventually be passe, just like all the chiffon and ruffles but that doesn't mean we can't enjoy them while they are popular. The Juliet is a more classic look but I'll be wearing my Joley's, Lulu's and Pippa's to death until the peep toe trend is over and done. Until the next go-round, of course
ReplyDeleteCan anyone comment on the Charlie ruffled mary janes? I'm returning the Bettina T-straps i ordered and thinking of getting the Charlies instead. TIA!
ReplyDeleteI bought some tall leather J.Crew boots (riding style, not high heel) about 3 years ago and they are great. I still wear them all the time and can walk forever in them. Worth the money. But all the other J.Crew shoes are overpriced and uncomfortable. I would never buy any footwear from J.Crew except their boots.
ReplyDeleteMiss Penny Z. - I ordered the Charlie Suede Ruffled Mary Janes, and unfortunately I had to return them, as the shoe was cut really narrow near the toe cleavage area, which for me is the widest part of my foot. I could barely get my foot into it, and when I did it dug into my skin and was painful! Too bad, since it is such a good looking shoe. HTH!
