This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)
If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available in the Summer / Fall sale, or to see some new Fall arrivals {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!
Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)
P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!
I'm dying for:
ReplyDeleteCotton Corsage Cardi in the mint green in XS
Whirling Ruffle Cardigan in the blush in XS
Scattered Petal tank in a 0
Thanks ladies!
Well it won't be the men's shirts. I tried them on and they're way too long. Too bad too because some of the men's shirts had great colors, better fabric and the tartans, checks and plaids looked great for Fall.
ReplyDeleteAm I the only one that thinks the Gwen dress is just adorable?
ReplyDeleteI know! I have been wanting a lot of the men's shirts too! They keep styling with them and they are super cute! I wish they had made them for women...grrr
ReplyDeleteI'd be interested to hear back if there are any store-only colors that are not showing up online.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I know it says online/catalog only, but if by some chance someone sees a Maya dress hanging around somewhere, I'd love to hear back what it's like!
Happy shopping everyone :)
What's up with the measly offerings on FS? I understood why they weren't updating when the 20% off was going on but expected a huge update as soon as that was over. Not sure what I'm looking for anything specific but it's now part of my morning routine to check FS. I am surprised at how few items are on it this week.
ReplyDeleteLaura and Sunny...I've bought several of the men's shirts and tuck them in (I'm 5'4)- they look fabulous and of nice quality (dress them up with pearls). If you want to wear them untucked, have it tailored. Why miss out on a look you want?!
ReplyDeleteThank Itztru! I will have to try out the men's shirts. Has anyone tried a crewcuts boys shirt?
ReplyDeleteGood morning
ReplyDeleteI purchased and Imperial Tee, size S. I'm about to return it, as it's too small. If anyone is interested, let me know asap.
Just yesterday I bought 2 more open-crewneck painter tees online. Hated to pay shipping -- would have bought 1 more if not for that jacked-up shipping! -- but I love them so much I bit the bullet. The 'Mars' red color popped back; I hope it's pretty and not SUPER ugly like the 'deep persimmon' painter henley I bought a few weeks back ... never saw such a browny orange in my life, booo .... also got the soft graphite because I'm having a gray moment this year. :-) Can't wait for them to arrive. My parents are making their yearly visit this weekend, so no doubt mom & I will hit the nearest mall for mani/pedis and maybe do some Crewsin', whereupon she'll grab whatever I decide to buy and pay for it, woo hoo ... even at 36 that part's still fun. :-D Happy weekend JCAs!
ReplyDeletehas the site already updated this am??? Thanks
ReplyDeleteI went to my B&M yesterday and the chiffon trim cardigan was on sale, as well as all of the matchstick cords, four different styles of chinos, and the usual tee suspects.
ReplyDeleteBelle Du Jour- please email me: jcrewjunkie at sbcglobal. net
ReplyDeleteTHanks!
Elain--that sounds SO fun! Wish my mom would do that! That stopped around age 20 for me:) Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteIf anyone sees and tries on the Merino Maya Dress this weekend I would be interested in their review. Usually their dresses that hit "mid-thigh" hits mid-calf on me and are hard to alter. This one is supposed to be 34.5 inches long in size XS.
ReplyDeleteHas anyone seen the Abby cap toe ballet flats in whisper pink IRL? I like they way the look in the catalog with the not-so-shiny pewter toe as opposed to the shiny silver toe online. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteGood morning JCAs!
ReplyDeleteI was at the Westport, CT store a few days ago and they had an *amazing* jewelry sale going on. They had the following:
-Constellation Locket for $9.99
-Gilded tulip earrings for $29.99
-large yellow big bangle for $4.99
-solid medium black bangle for $9.99
-Siren necklace for $19.99
-Scattered-locket necklace for $39.99
-Gilded Tulip/Acorn necklace for $39.99
If you are in the store, it's worth checking out. :)
If anyone sees the Pointelle twilight-stripe V-neck cardigan in an XS in the shadow/navy or gray color please let me know. Thanks!
ReplyDeletesbash123@yahoo.com
Arianna - I saw a bunch of the cotton corsage cardi in the breeze color at the Prince Street b&m (NY) yesterday, they seemed to have all sizes. On sale for $29.99. Might be worth calling them. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteIf anyone sees the cotton/silk medallion perfect shirt in a size 2can you let me know? It was just added to the sales section, but they're out of my size. Thanks!!
ReplyDeleteWhen I logged in this morning, I was underwhelmed at the numbers of the sale section, it made me think there wasn't an update, but I guess I was wrong. Not much stuff, but some decent reductions in prices. JC jewelry doesn't usually call to me, but I had to order the Libretto necklace this morning for $39.99. I'd tried the Crystal garden but didn't like the colors too much once it was on, so I'm glad to get the pinky-orange tone. I also reordered the pointelle cardi, which I like a ton more for thirty bucks than for fifty, and sized up in that for more room to match the extra length. I have to go into the store today to return a sweater from my last order. A big time bummer, I was supposed to get the short sleeve featherweight cardi in misy lav. and got the v-neck tunic in the misty lav. instead. They have to override the FS when that happens, and it's the second time in a row that I've had an order like that. I'm really bummed that it was this got messed up, I was really looking forward to another of these cute summer sweaters for next year.
ReplyDeleteI'll check on the pointelle in xs for Ashley when I go in, there were a few last week but I don't know what sizes.
If anyone comes across bell flower top size 4 and Imperial tee sz M at your local B&M, could you please email me ptriciahoward@gmail.com
ReplyDeletei went to the bethesda store for the first time yesterday. my usual store is towson and couldn't get over the enormous selection bethesda had.
ReplyDeletei picked up some cords on sale, the fresh plum pencil skirt, some crewcuts for my son and a pair of pants for the hubs.
now if only the towson store would expand...
Elaine: LOVE the mars color in the painter!! Grabbed it up before it sold out a few weeks ago! Perfect fall color!
ReplyDeletesweetsy, I think it was you that was asking about the cashmere cardis vs. last year?
ReplyDeleteI ordered the mustard yellow, awesome color. Strikingly similar to honey glaze, slightly more brown than green tone.
The cashmere is still the same old quality 12 gauge, soft and cozy, probably going to pill, haha. The dimensions overall are slightly smaller. I found last years to be the baggiest of the four consecutive years I've bought this cardi. The sleeves are almost an inch shorter, length on the body about half an inch shorter. The rib trim at the cuffs and hem are a half inch bigger than last year. Grograin ribbon trims the button plackets again, and the buttons seem to be tighter than last year's, which I had to reinforce right out of the package. The only other difference of note is an added length of fancier stitching on the front from the shoulder seams to a few inches from the buttons on either side. These are the same stitches used to reinforce the sides of the arms that extend from the armpit area.
HTH!
Pointelle twilight-stripe V-neck cardigan now on sale for $29.99 online.
ReplyDeleteNo trip to J.Crew for me this weekend, but I did visit the Factory store yesterday. They now have their version of last year's candy tees, the Merino Lili Ruffle Chiffon Cardigan, Sparkle Tweed skirt, and many others. The Berry-Trim Astrid jackets were marked down to $99.97 with an extra 20% off and were in the sale section.
ReplyDeleteIf anyone sees the in-store only denim miniskirt in size 6 and 8, please let me know. I think it was just marked down from $49.99 to $29.99. Also, I am looking for the pointelle cardigan in size small in the driftwood blush color. TIA! love2shop4bags AT yahoo DOT com.
ReplyDeleteI am not planning on visiting, but i have been trying to order online for the last two days. I have been trying to get a hold of JC's customer service via email and they will not respond! Has anyone else had this problem?
ReplyDeleteI really want to order the toothpicks and the professor jacket!

ReplyDeleteCheesyGoodness the fancy stitching you mentioned on the cashmere cardi is fully-fashioned stitching. When pieces are knitted that way they reduce the amount of waste where rectangular pieces would be sewn together and the excess cut off because they can knit the exact piece in the size needed for the garment. They can also create a better curvature than a flat piece, which is more streamlined for the armholes and also can add shape for the bust, as the J.Crew cardis do with the fashioning at the shoulders.
ReplyDeleteFully-fashioned garments should provide a better fit and being a bit busty myself I have found this year's cashmere cardis to fit a lot nicer in that regard. Something for the more well-endowed of us to consider when purchasing sweaters.
Not to go all know-it-all on you, just intending to share some useful information. Have a wonderful day.
:-)
WOW-that was A LOT of useful info today! Thanks to cheesygoodness for the cardi fit info and the necklace info!! Finally--on sale--whoo hoo!! ShuLvr for the endowed sweater info:) very helpful.
ReplyDeleteFFM,
ReplyDeleteWhat colors did they have the Lilli Cardigan in?
Thanks!
Do all the stores have the toothpick ankle cords on sale for 49.50? The website only has one color. I contacted CS by e-mail and it took over 24 hours for them to respond. I didn't get the automatically generated message either that said they would get back to me.
ReplyDelete* Arianna - Did the cotton corsage cardi come in mint? Or do you mean the blue color?
ReplyDelete* CheesyGoodness - Congrats on your necklace. Thanks for pointing out the lower prices on items.
* Gingersnap - Are you using contactus@jcrew.com? I have always gotten a response within 24 hrs using that. Or maybe go thru erica@jcrew.com and they will get your email to the right person if that dept is different and cannot help you.
* I saw the J'Crewlet berry trimmed astrid and it's pretty good. FWIW, I own the b&m version.
I am looking for the dog tee in M. If anyone sees it can you post or email at Itsmelealee@gmail.com Thanks All
ReplyDeleteOh yah
ReplyDeleteI cannot get my hands on a Merino Maya Cardigan in Amber, I've tried we will find it for you too. So if by some miracle anyone finds one in S or XS please let me know!
Thanks
BTW Pakcola-I am pretty pleased with the tiered cami from Charlotte-nice find! Esp. for like $19 versus $795 LOL! It looks really cute with ribbon chiffon flower belt.
ReplyDeleteNo pointelle sweaters or imperial tees in any sizes at Ann Arbor. They probably aren't getting in any of the Maya dresses, so I couldn't get a peek at that... So, nothing of note for today.
ReplyDeleteShuLvr, thanks for the help with the terminology! I sat there for a couple minutes before deciding to call it "fancy" so it is much better to call it what it really is! I'm busty too and by necessity shop for the girls, I'm happy with this cardi, too.
OT the sale section has the Galaxy Ribbon and Chain Bracelet for 19.99in Dusty Blossom and Black.
ReplyDeletePakcola-they had one in S I believe a few days ago at the Portland, Washington Square store. I almost bought it:)
ReplyDeleteGigi-It's the blue color that you're referring to. I remembered it being a bit green when I tried it on and LEFT IT a month back. Kicking myself profusely:)
This comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteHi Pakcola! I saw the Lili in Ivory and Black. It wasn't *ruffled* all the way down the front like the retail version. The ruffles stopped about half way down the front of the cardigan instead.
ReplyDeleteoops, I just posted under my other google acct. :)
ReplyDeleteanyone remember the name of the NARS lip pencil that was suggested on the J Crew website? They have removed it! Thanks
ReplyDeleteSweetsy, that's so cool! I'm glad you got it, it looks really pretty. Show us some IRL pics if you can.
ReplyDeleteFFM, thanks! I loved last year's Lili, I might have to go check these out.
Reesfamilyfun, Thanks so much, but no luck, the SA directed me to some other Oregon stores but they were out too. There is a Medium in Amber at the Bridgeport store if anyone else is looking.
I'm really annoyed with J crew's we will find it for you, I don't think it works!
cheesy- thanks for checking! hopefully i'll get a pop back later on! and sorry about your mishap! same thing happened to me...it is such a hassle when they send the wrong item!
ReplyDeleteJust got back from the Cambridge store:
Most sizes of silk tiered cami papaya $19.99
Black Gray Cream $49.99
Toothpick cords Warm Maple $29.99
Matchstick cords some colors $29.99
Mixed shape Crystal Necklaces $19.99
Siren Necklace $19.99
HTH!
I visited my local B&M in Boca Raton, and they didn't have all of the new arrivals out yet. In fact, they were in the middle of putting everything out. They did not have the maya dress. I did see all of the jewelry Alexis mentioned in an earlier post. I purchased the destroyed Vintage Matchstick jean in S instead of my usual Regular lenth and they are A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! (didn't see the exact ones online) I usually don't purchase JCrew demin, but they are so soft and the fit is great! Also received the Ikat dress in warm maise and it fits a little large in the chest area, but not enough to size down. Runs really long and is headed for the taylor! The color and style is really beautiful and I highly recommend.
ReplyDeleteI was at Georgetown store in Washington DC yesterday, they have some tees on sale for 29.99, cashmere cardigans for 99.00, painter tees and boatnecks in grey for 19.00 and matchstick cords in eucalyptus and sandalwood for 39.99.
ReplyDeleteQuestion, ladies: Did anybody try to use stores red phone to order item which is on back order on-line? I'm talking about cadogan ankle boots. They are on a back order till the end of November, and I was thinking that may be I can get them faster by placing the order at the red phone. By the way can anybody comment on them, please? Are they comfortable? TTS?
BTW, I tried on the Evie ruffled top in light berry and it is kind of boxy. Doesn't create a nice shape, but the color is nice. Not worth $80 IMO. Also saw the Ruffled collier top in Wild Blackberry and it is really lovely. LOVE the wild blackberry color and just placed an order for the Silk Streamers cami in that color. HTH
ReplyDeleteHey Ashely,
ReplyDeleteWas only the silk tiered cami in papaya on sale for $19.99? Or are all colors on sale for $19.99? I'm crossing my fingers that the black and white one has been reduced in price :)
TeriLyn13,
ReplyDeleteAt my B&M, the maple, blue, and gray ankle cords were all marked down.
Little Scientist - I think the red phone's inventory is the same as on the website. However, I ordered the Cadogan ankle boots a couple weeks ago. They were backordered until 11/23, but I received them a couple days ago. So you might want to go ahead and just order them. I don't usually receive backordered items quite so quickly, but it's almost always before the stated date. I'm actually returning them (prob to Pentagon City) because I found a pair I liked better and for much cheaper. They are black, size 6.5. If that's your color/size, let me know and I can have the store hold them for you.
ReplyDeleteccurran, the NARS color was "Red Square".
ReplyDeleteLittle Scientist - Sorry, I forgot your other questions. Yes, they are TTS and they seem comfortable. The heel is quite substantial so I think that will help with the comfort factor.
ReplyDeleteThanks Lauren S for the report. I need to investigate. Stacy said in an earlier post that our Towson store tends to not have as much variety, they also run out of sizes pretty fast. Sounds like Bethesda might be in my future.
ReplyDeleteMichelle- At my B&M I think only the papaya was $19.99. The others were also in the sale section but marked $49.99. Not sure about other stores... HTH!

ReplyDeleteSorry, forgot to ask if anyone sees
ReplyDeleteJuliet suede/patent mid heels in whisper pink size 9 (on sale $79.99) can you please tell me? Thanks!
Also, leather Monterrey driving mocs were on sale $69.99
mommydearest: I just emailed you. :)
ReplyDeleteJust got the catalogue. I'd rather go naked through the day than dress like the picture on page 64. I see that one of Gayle's "style tips" is that "there's such a thing as being too pulled-together perfect." You know what, jcrew? There's also such a thing as looking too preposterous.
ReplyDeleteI received the Elsbeth Oxfords and IRL they are like brown dancing shoes. Pretty cute actually, great with jeans and cardigans and very Fall-like. Also, the Warm Burgundy and Vintage Forest colors are gorgeous, when I saw the burgundy cashmere cardigan in the catalog I knew I should probably order before they were sold out.
ReplyDeleteLa Belle Helene I think they were drunk when they styled half this catalog. Camis over turtlenecks? They did that one twice. And I'm all for layering but this looks like a contest to see how much clothing you can wear at once. It's goofy. And I lost count how many times the one model points her toes in. I was thinking of sending her correctional shoes.
ReplyDeleteKathrine: thank you very much for sharing!I'm size 7, unfortunately:(
ReplyDeleteJust went to Sacramento, CA B&M and picked up the Papaya Silk Tiered Cami for 19.99! They had a lot of sizes. Black and white one was down to $49.99. They had the navy Eden blazers down to 99.99 and cords ranging from 29.99-49.99. They had one lone denim pencil skirt in size 6 for 19.99 too! I also picked up the beigey pearl ribbon necklace for 19.99. Not too bad!
ReplyDeleteboot cut cords in maple down to 40.00 annoying since i bought some last week.
ReplyDeletethe cracked gold shoes down to 80.00
i bought some to wear with jeans
and the boyfriend chinos 20 they are very long
Did anyone bought leather gloves? Item 18178 Or has any older ones?
ReplyDeleteI wonder how they hold up over the winter....
I am going to B&M in NYC on Sunday and I hope I'll find ruffle-front vine-print shirt there .... and some boat neck tee preferably in grey ...
have a nice weekend!
Stopped in my B&M yesterday and picked up a cute cotton cardi-It is the nice soft thick cotton like the Bow one from last year and has sequins around the collar- not too much, but enough to make it fun. Comes in Pewter and black and is only $49.50. It is A LOT more substantial than most of the tees and super cute. I will probably head back this weekend to check out the jewelry.
ReplyDeleteVisited today, bought the Silk Tiered Cami: http://www.jcrew.com/AST/Browse/WomenBrowse/Women_Shop_By_Category/shirtstops/camisblouses/PRDOVR~18934/99101838185/ENE~1+2+3+22+4294967294+20~~~0~15~all~mode+matchallany~~~~~silk%20tiered/18934.jsp

mommydearest:
ReplyDeleteThe Maple Grove, MN store had the bootcut cords in buff sand in a size 4S on Wednesday. It might be worth calling them! Good luck!!!
Is anyone interested in buying Juliet patent-leather midheels?
ReplyDeleteColor is driftwood and size is 6.5.
Bought them a few days ago but too small for me.

ReplyDeleteDoes anyone have the Molly printed platform peep toes?
Arianna - I have the Scattered Petals tank in size 0! Please e-mail me because I'm looking to get rid of it!
ReplyDeleteI also have the Cotton Corsage Cardi - but no in mint green.

pixelant: I don't have them but I tried them on. They are sooo comfy, and adorable!
ReplyDeleteThe antique gold manor necklace in soft graphite in on sale online for $39.99 from $128
ReplyDeleteI am in frantic search for the
ReplyDeleteSCATTERED GLASS NECKLACE (18035) September catalog p.60. It was wait-listed and now it's sold out.
If you see this please, please let me know. I would really, really appreciate it. Or if you have it and don't want it please email me at:
notaryjulee at gmail dot com
TIA!!
I'll be going in to make some returns and see what new arrivals are in my store. There is only one in town and it's small so we tend not to get much. I'm also going to hit the sale rack, I'm hoping some of the crinkle perfect shirts show up in my size. I have one and I'm wearing it to death!
ReplyDeleteSunny,
ReplyDeleteI wear a "0" or "2" in j crew woman's shirts and have one boy's XXL crewcut button down shirt. I would get more, but I don't live near to a crewcuts location. They are proportioned different than a womans shirt in that the sleeves end up being about 3/4, but they aren't too long at the bottom.
Does anyone know how the Juliet patent mid-heels run? The website has some in the color I want that are a half-size bigger than my usual. If this style runs small or narrow, I'm thinking they might work but I'm hesitant to take the plunge without more information since they're final sale. Any feedback?
ReplyDeleteThanks so much!
Julize - I usually take 7.5 and have both 7.5 and 8 in the Juliet mid-heels. I have only the patent ones, so not sure about fit for the suede. I prefer my size 8s. Esp in the Serengeti. I think many of us sized up in the patterned Juliet. If you have a narrower foot you might go with your regular size. If you are prone to swelling a bit (I am), then you might want to size up. You can also search Juliet here on the blog and find other posts that discuss fit. I know it's been discussed here. Use the search feature on the right-hand side of the screen. Not the blogger search on the left side.
ReplyDeleteIn the past I've always received the catalogs. This time, nothing for me and my husband--who doesn't have a JC CC and has made one purchase in five years--received a catalog.
ReplyDeleteWhere are the jewel toned ballet flats like the Soiree and the Fleur Suede that you can match a cardigan too? Like this:

Hello
ReplyDeleteIf anyone comes across an Imperial tee sz XS at your local B&M or the Trevi Tank in a size 0 or 2, could you please email me taaisjacobs at gmail dot com?
Thanks so much in advance
Oh, two more item on my search list :
ReplyDeleteThe Havona tank in a 0 or 2.
Perfect-fit falling ruffles tank in champagne in an XS or S
Thanks again!!
Thanks for the info carleen. I am usually a 2 in shirts and willl give it a try!
ReplyDeleteI picked up the Bouquet Cashmere Cardigan because it looked so cute. I would have preferred they use cashmere or blend with silk to have fashioned the flowers, but oh well.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, I know that it's 12-gauge similar to other cardigan sweaters though it does have the flower embellishments. My concern is durability, pilling and the unfinished chiffon. Has anyone tried or seen this cardigan and can comment on the likelihood that it will hold up? I haven't worn it, and It's a bit expensive. I don't want to deal with the pilling on top of fraying.
TIA!
Whoever was looking for the Buff Sand bootcut cords in 4s, saw them at the sacramento arden fair store for $39.99 this morning.
ReplyDeletePixelant - I have the Molly printed peep toe shoes in a 10 in the pewter print and they are big on me. I should have bought my normal size 9.5. So IMO they run TTS.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE these shoes and get so many compliments on them. I am bummed, though, that I paid full price and now they are marked down to $130.
Definitely pick these lovely shoes up, so worth it!!!
PS - Has anyone seen any good sale items in the stores in NYC? Please let me know. Thx!
Cleo, how great that you got the Bouquet Cardigan, I was considering it but it sold out quickly and was pricey for not having seen it. What do you think of it? If it pops back, is it worth it?
ReplyDeleteJulize --> I have the patent Juliet mid-heels from last fall and found them TTS, though I take 7.5 I think I could have managed with an 8 as well, you can always put an insole in them if they're a touch too big. They're awesome shoes, I wear them to death.
ReplyDeleteHave any of you seen the spicy olive and/or burnished olive colors in person? Seems as though the burnished olive color is a little more on the gold side than the spicy, which seems to be more muted. It's so hard to tell online though...
ReplyDeletemommydearest: I was at the Chicago Premium Outlets in Aurora, IL last Sunday. They had two root colored snow leopard Jackies left (XS and S)-price $39.99 plus add'l 20% off. They also had several berry Astrid jackets but I don't know what size. They were reduced to $99.99 plus the 20% off.
ReplyDeleteI love the watercolor leopard print, but not the shape of the evie top. Has anyone seen and/or tried on the skirt?
ReplyDeleteI bought the matchstick cords in breeze - so glad that brought this color back. I also bought the noir crystal ring. I tried this on last weekend and couldn't stop thinking about it, so I went back today and bought it. It's in the catalog, but not online. I also ordered 2 girls' items that my b&m didn't have.
There wasn't a whole lot of sale items, just mainly odds and ends. You know, one or two of an item. There were plenty of the light green cords, but I didn't check the price. Also, lots of socks and the sparkly/shiny striped scarves (black, light gray, and dark gray). Unfortunately, there wasn't much jewelry left. My b&m sells a lot of the specialty jewerly pieces.
Gigi - and everyone:
ReplyDeleteI did email them at the contactus email (like normal). I finally got a response 2.5 days later! Not kidding. I am appalled at the response time and by the actual response. Or should I say responseS! I got three responses - with - you guessed it - different answers!
I am going to be doing a post on this very topic later - but it is my BIGGEST pet peeve with J.Crew. They have the most inconsistent customer service EVER.
math teacher, I just got the watercolor leopard skirt in the mail today and its gorgeous! I will probably wear it to work on Monday and post IRL pictures on my blog in the evening.
ReplyDeleteLaura,
ReplyDeleteI can't fully commit on whether it's worth it to buy it if it were to pop back. (You could try a we will find it search.) While i admit that it's cute, i have concerns about the sweater's longevity.
(1) It's 12-guage knit, so your regular J.Crew cashmere, which has a history of pilling.
(2) The sweater is mid to lightweight (not feather), but i would have hoped for a higher gauge given the embellishments (and price).
(3) The florets are hand-cut and unfinished. The silk doesn't look to be much of an issue, but the unfinished chiffon.... Being lightweight, i imagine the chiffon will flop, and being unfinished, get that "vintage" look.
All in all, i don't know if i'll keep it. Perhaps it would be easier to buy a black cashmere Jackie cardigan and sew some raw (my preference) silk flowers on myself.
I'm curious to know what you decide.
Cleo based on that I think I would return it too. For $250. I expect a very nice "Collection" item. I bought the Lombard in both colors, was supposed to be silk, it was cotton lawn with burn marks and I returned them. Sounds like these silk flowers and chiffon won't age well. I like your idea of the black cashmere cardigan with silk flowers. One of the big appeals was the combination of navy and black. I really appreciate your feedback, thank you!
ReplyDeletevanessa, is it TTS? Does it fit like the perfect pencil skirt? Thanks! I'm looking forward to seeing your pics. :)
ReplyDeletecame back from the wrentham outlets:
ReplyDeletenot much in clearance but,
matchstick cords only $24.99! (originally $59.50) in a great deal of colors
tons of B&M "look-a-like" jewelry 30% off (there was a symphony type one, mixed shape crystal one, constellation locket one.)
had all of the candy tees from last year, and even saw rolling ruffles tanks that were seriously identical to the B&M one.
prices weren't that great but they sure are making LOTS of "made for the factory outlet" items that were past season releases.
Hey guys, I'm looking for the boyfriend military jacket in gray size xs. Please let me know if you've seen it at any of your stores. The link is at the bottom. The King of Prussia store only had size M, L, and XL if that helps anyone. TIA!
ReplyDeletehttp://www.jcrew.com/AST/Browse/WomenBrowse/Women_Shop_By_Category/outerwear/cotton/PRDOVR~12542/12542.jsp
math teacher, I took my normal jcrew size it the skirt and it fits great, but it it a little more form fitting than some of the other jcrew pencil skirts.
ReplyDeleteIt actually does fit very similar to the perfect pencil skirt. That being said, my perfect pencil skirt was more form fitting at first, but did stretch out a bit after wearing.
I thought someone in comments was looking for dog tees: the double dog? there were 4 left at Stonestown JCrew, 3 Medium and one Large. Hope that is helpful to someone!
ReplyDeleteMichelle,
ReplyDeleteLake Forest IL had several gray boyfriend military jackets yesterday, but not sure of sizes. Might be worth a call. HTH.
Cleo/Laura, chiming in a little late here, but IMO "Collection" cashmere is a rip-off. I bought the Fleur cardi last year and the yarn/knit quality and craftsmanship are *exactly* the same as the regular cashmere. And, it has pilled just as badly as the other cashmere I purchased last year. I basically paid double the price for some lousy frayed chiffon flowers. If the price difference is substantial, IMO you are much better off buying a basic cardi and a $10 silk flower because "Collection" doesn't mean better cashmere.
ReplyDeleteMichelle, Charleston, SC, also had several of the jackets, but I didn't check the sizes.
ReplyDeletevanessa, thanks for the info. One more question - the evie top is very silky, is the skirt the same?
ReplyDeleteLots of new items on the web--many that are not in the newest catalog!
ReplyDeleteI agree with Hexicon as well - I received the cashmere cascadia cardigan (Collection) as a gift and while it is very pretty, the chiffon placket frayed significantly after one wearing. I like the color and the style a lot but don't think it is superior to any non-Collection cashmere pieces.
ReplyDeleteAnyone seen any button-cuff Melanie sweaters anywhere? I just wore mine from last season and fell in love with it again!
ReplyDeleteno problem math teacher! :) The skirt is only 12% silk, so not really silky at all... I actually prefer this because it won't wrinkle as I'm sitting!
ReplyDeleteHi, everyone -
ReplyDeleteI am very interested in some of the flat shoes. How comfortable are JCrew shoes?
Thank you!
Pleasanton, CA also has a stack of doggie tees. They had one of the market totes in metallic gold (on sale). A few of the indigo velvet Eden blazers. Lots of collier necklace tees. And the black silk posy cami (18679) is $49.99.
ReplyDeleteHey everyone, thanks for the feedback on the Juliet patent heels. My feet run slightly wider than average so I think I'm going to try them in the half size up. Now I just need to pick a good ride-along so I don't have to pay the shipping. Come on JCrew--how about a free shipping code with no minimum?
ReplyDeleteWould you agree that the back of boatneck tee is poorly finished? I went to b&m store today and wanted to get some but after "felling" in IRL I passed. It looks to me like its not sewed al the way up ?!?! Or maybe it is supposed to be that way .... LOL
ReplyDeleteBut I did get grand corsage top for $17.99 and ribbon front top for $19.99, no ruffle front vine print shirt though ..... but I am happy :)
Laura, Hexicon, silver_lining,
ReplyDeleteI agree that the 12-gauge knit cashmere of their regular line is exactly the same as the 12-gauge in Collection (at a significant price difference). However, the lower-guage knit such as that of last year's Janelle, Pavia, and Butterfield jackets are much better quality. I have each of these and am very happy with how well they've maintained. They're so cozy, and I haven't experience any pilling.
I wish they had created the cashmere bouquet sweater at 5-guage or less with raw silk intermingled between silk habotai flowers, either of which could have been blue. It's such a cute sweater that it's a pity if it doesn't last past one season.
Walnut Creek -
ReplyDeleteKelcey ballet flat in gold, $49.99. I'm sure I saw a size 7. Not sure of other sizes.
Scout chinos - $19.99. Only a few pair in pebble, size 0. No nickel. Lots of light khaki, which reads as a green khaki.
Broken in boyfriend chinos - $49.99 BUT I definitely saw a tag marked $19.99, so have them do a register check. Lots of grey left.
