Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  1. Nothing for me despite the sales and having some rewards. I did break and get some boots over at Madewell's sale. Hopefully they ship.

  2. Ordered the sidewalk high top sneakers in leather with glitter from Madewell, mostly because I had a birthday promo and didn’t know what else to get!
The sneakers are pale parchment (white) with a gum sole with subtle specks of glitter mixed in. I ordered the smaller of my two sizes as sneakers tend to slip off my heel. One toe feels a little tight but just wearing them in the house the leather is not stiff and I think they’ll break in fine. I really like the look and could easily wear these walking around on a trip and not feel like I was in athletic wear. Two of my girls saw and approved so that’s a win in my book.

I also have crew rewards but nothing is a must have for me,

Ordered several pairs in different sizes of Everlane cheeky straight to try. They also have a new straight leg coming out at the end of the month. I’m finding this is a difficult cut to get right. I had previously tried the 90s cheeky straight which is all cotton and although I loved the rise and the top, something was not perfect about the leg.

  3. Here’s a style question but since there hasn’t been much activity lately I’ll just post it here and hope to get some responses.
I’ve really minimized my closet as I’m dressing more casually. I used to wear blazers with jeans out to dinner or anywhere but that hasn’t happened in awhile. I have several fitted blazers: hacking jacket and some school boys that are beautiful but only fit over a thin shirt. They’re not made like this anymore.
Would you keep just in case or sell? I know oversized blazers are having their moment but I really do find this more fitted style to be more flattering, I just don’t really wear them. (I do have a few black blazers that have continued to see occasional use and feel it can’t hurt to keep for funerals and other events where one needs to be conservatively dressed.)

    1. Keep the blazers!!! They don’t make them as before !

    2. You’re right. They really don’t. But I’m trying to be minimal. Maybe I’ll keep the flower one because it’s a little more springy and I can wear a thin shirt under it but I honestly cannot remember when I wore the others.

    3. I use my Rent the Runway Unlimited subscription to fill those sporadic needs. My conscience feels better knowing I'm not buying more stuff, I don't need to store it long term, and I can cycle in new stuff regularly. Would something like that work for your needs?

    4. I was (am) always very strict with myself about not keeping clothes (even very nice, well made ones) that I didn't wear, or if they went so many seasons without being worn I would sell or donate no matter HOW much I liked the item because, I thought to myself, "well it's not getting worn so you never will" etc.
BUT. But. Now the past few months I've been rethinking some of that, maybe it is because with age (ha) I am seeing how fashion TRULY goes thru cycles and also seeing how my own personal style goes through phases. Meaning - I have gotten rid of some things I now wish I had kept. Not a lot, but a few things. However, it is very easy to "feel" if something is really not your style anymore and I never feel bad letting go of a high quality or high value item if I just don't like it anymore and know it's not going to get used.

    5. Thanks for the responses!
Monica, I’m so not concerned about the need for additional clothes, although I’ve heard from many who love rent the runway...I don’t need it. I will keep the black blazers because they do fill a need and they’re versatile. The last event we had was this summer, a wedding, and although I’ve gotten rid of most of my dresses I had one from about 7 years ago that I wore and got many compliments...plus my husband loved it.

Julie, I haven’t really regretted getting rid of much that I can think of. I mean one thing is a pair of vintage levis that were literally threadbare, but aside from that, I can’t think of anything off the top of my head.
You are totally right, fashion goes through cycles and now that I contemplate getting rid of all my mid rise jeans that I don’t even want to put on anymore, I’ve wondered if they’ll be back.
For me the other part of it is, I really like seeing all my clothes at one glance. (Well as much as my current closet situation allows.) I don’t want to store stuff because I’d rather it get worn and not get destroyed in storage, then I’d feel worse.

  4. I purchased 2 sizes of the pull on slip skirt in zebra stripe (AF936). The print is a lot darker in person than on the website. The description is "academic black" so maybe I should have expected the dark skirt that I received. I also managed to get the black Nubuck winter boots with wedge crepe sole (AE996) for $97. I really love these. They seem comfortable and very warm. Although I've shopped at JC for years, I have very few of their pretty but often poorly made shoes.

    1. Oh, that’s not bad for those boots.

    2. I would have loved for the price to be a bit lower, but I figured in the future it might be final sale or I might have to stalk the website nonstop and I'm pretty tired of that.

  5. Sales are weak this year for JCrew! They have 2000 items in sale section and no discount! Insane! Not that I need anything. Lol

  6. Denim dilemma. What am I looking for?
I hope I can explain this well enough that someone will understand.
I’ve tried on many straight legs jeans from JCREW, Madewell and now Everlane. The thighs are too fitted. They look like toothpicks from the waist to the knee basically, then instead of being tight they’re a little looser from the knee down. I don’t like this.
The only straight jeans I have that don’t do this are the Madewell Crusier Straight but ONLY in the preston wash which is all cotton. The other ones fit tighter on the thighs.
Do I want a “mom” jean that’s more relaxed through the thighs with a slightly tapered leg?
I don’t even know what to look for but all I know is it’s frustrating.

  8. Question: when do the rewards expire? I don't want to use them right now but I also don't want to lose them.

    1. Good question. I’ll look into it. I had several hundred dollars worth of ikea rewards expire within a month of getting them which was so frustrating. That’s one credit card I won’t use again.

    2. All I can find is that the points expire one year from when you get them, I don’t see a specific reward expiration.

    3. It does specifically in the terms and conditions that if you return an item purchased with rewards you forfeit the rewards. Usually I’ve purchased “sure things” with the rewards and try to use it on only one item.

    4. Yeah... I learned about the return thing the hard way.
      :/

  10. Belated Happy New Year to everyone. Just received some previews from my VPS for the Jan. 21st launch. They’re bringing back Kiki Ballet Flats yay, cap toe navy tip with white body and navy with a kelly green tip. Silk lion print looks like blue grotto with gold colored lions so they say. Appears they’re going more classic again. Stated they are rereleasing some archived items. Lots of pink, blue, yellow and gold toned and the crazy leopard print. Sorry I can’t posted images. She mentioned this will be a large launch early spring.

    1. Happy New Year Lynn! Thanks so much for sharing that tidbit of info - I’ve been wondering and craving a rollout. Going to save my pennies for hopefully some items that spark my interest. Lions sound lovely; I don’t think my wardrobe can take any more leopard ;)

    2. Curious what blue grotto means. I'm looking forward to archived items, and blue and gold tones. I know the seasonal release of a silk cat shirt/pant has been working for them but would like something different - I'll take a silk cat sheath dress for example. I'm done with leopard.

    1. @Lynn- you hit it on the head! I know that the new year brings on the minimalize-conversation but I can't wait for a little something new for my need-nothing closet (just not ready for Marie Kondo)!

  12. It’s an old Jcrew color. A very pretty blue with no purple undertones similar to a royal blue and again prettier. It was a very prominent color about 5 or 6 years ago. They also made Italian Cece ballet flats in the same color. I purchased many pairs that I still haven’t worn for fear they’d kill the shoe. Glad I did.Oh the good old days!

    1. ah I thought you were referring to a print! I remember that color well. It's basically cerulean (or to most people... electric blue). I had a number of things back then that were that exact shade, including a pair of non JC lambskin basketweave flats that were my favorite shoes in 2009. Glad to see some bright colors back.

    1. Thanks for letting us know - I took a look and saw a few things I'm interested in. Don't understand the description of reimagined wool - it says the sweater is made with 100% merino wool but the fabric description says otherwise. I'll have to take a look in person when I get the opportunity to go to the store.
