This is the weekly "J.Crew Reviews {straight from the JCAs}" post, to help each other share our reviews.
So
if you have recently purchased,
or stopped by a J.Crew store to try
on an item (or two) from J.Crew, maybe you
might be willing to share that
information with us in this post.
Also, this request is not just limited to clothes. Please feel free to discuss bags, shoes, jewelry, accessories, etc.
In
particular, if you could
mention a few of the noteworthy
details like fit, size, fabric, and the
like— that would be fantastic! Thanks
in advance! :)
Some good deals on coats with FLASH75 promo. Ordered Chateau Puffer Jacket in cerise for $42 (stacked coupon with 50% off sale promo). @SuzHas has it and really likes, so decided to try. Also ordered brown sequin skirt after @welfedfred recommended.
ReplyDeleteMy tummy troubles woke me up, and I ordered one too. I also had received an extra 15% off, plus the promo. $42 I could not resist. It is back at full price this morning. Also ordered a second jacket for the Mr., we'll sort it out later.
DeleteI mean a second men's jacket, not a Chateau puffer!
DeleteWow that’s a good deal!
DeleteI myself am considering the car coat in deep curry. The color looks fun. I hadn’t seen it previously but I love how it looks in the pic with the glen plaid jacket under. I have a 50 off 150...I think at that price it’s fair but not sure if it was less previously,
In reviews someone said the dark curry looks like split pea soup, not the bright yellow online. Now I’m not sure. ðŸ˜
DeleteI think the photo with the Men's car coat next to it shows the color pretty well - a bit less vibrant than the solo shots. If the fit is like the men's version, you will want your smaller size. My husband really likes his car coat (it's the one in that photo) and wears it almost every day to work and on the weekend. But then, it has been a mild winter.
DeleteI’ll look again. I don’t need it to be super warm, it’s for going out. Since I wear all black mostly I love a fun colored coat.
DeleteI went for it in a size small. It’s very rare I get a coat smaller than a 4 and sometimes the 4s feel skimpy. Since the true size thing told me toget the 4 hopefully if it’s way oversized and I need the 2 they’ll let me apply the gift code. One never knows.
DeleteI mean the extra small Instead of the small.
DeleteAnd I think the slightly more muted curry color gives it more of that retro vibe.
DeletePost when you receive it!
DeleteDef. due to arrive the day my MIL leaves after a Visit. A well deserved gift to receive!
DeleteGot the coat! I’m going to post in Friday’s thread though... stay tuned. Not sure I will post on IG yet

really store had very little. sale section quite large..but "old" stuff 40% off.
this was the Vancouver store on Robsen st..
I noticed that jcrew mentioned they will have more new arrivals next week on Instagram including some sandals pictured in a recent post.
ReplyDeleteI’ve got my eyes on the sleepy lions print and a pair of the loafers.
Went to rockofelar last night for returns. Sale section slim. Small cashmere table, few racks of coats and jeans and some pilled sweaters. Did pick up cashmere joggers for about $71.... expensive but I been watching them a while...
ReplyDeleteDid see the discounts last night, but they did not have my size in chateau puffer.... so I passed.... looked and looked and went to sleep.... still looking for double breasted trench coat.... it may pop up...
On another note I found the 2010 lady coat on posh in cobble stone grey.... I think I may like it more then the coat above.... love the color....
It’s size 2.... does anyone have that coat and can speak to size.... I have 2016 version on size 4.... but I think they may have ran smaller.... any help is appreciated
I have one from 2010-2012 that’s a 4 and runs small. Let me check the date.
DeleteIt’s a little too tight for me to wear over a heavy sweater comfortably.
Mine is from Hol 2015! I’d ask for measurements just to be safe.
DeleteOT, but I've been purging lately, not buying. It's what I do in January ;) Can't seem to let go of the Tippi crewnecks and cardigans for some reason, though, even though I never wear them. I have a ridiculous amount of these, even though I've gotten rid of some over the years. I've gotten pretty casual but I don't know if I'm going to be back in an office environment and then I'd kick myself for letting the Tippis go. Can anyone tell me why I don't need all these? !
ReplyDeleteI also keep the cashmere cardigans and a few other merino cardigans "just in case" too. Ugh...
DeleteI'd keep them. However, I'm an admitted sweater hoarder!
DeleteI’d keep only if you can store them well. I only have one tippi, the camo tippi. I keep it neatly folded and have only worn it a few times and it just looks ok.
DeleteThanks ladies! I may need to find a better way to store them. Every time I reevaluate them, I think they look great. They are older Tippis. When I think about re-buying them if I miss them, I remember they aren't making things as well these days. Same reason I don't get rid of the few blazers I have. One thing I will say for J. Crew, these styles are timeless. They don't look dated at all. I will keep them for now :) .
DeleteAnd Suz, as you know, I'm super hesitant now to get rid of pants because it's so hard for me to find a mid-rise replacement now! At least it's easier to get a good fit on sweaters... but I'm still keeping them for now.
DeletePer WSJ, JCrew's new CEO will be Jan Singer, former executive of Victoria's Secret.
ReplyDeleteI was just coming to post this! Now there’s two brands you don’t normally associate with one another!
DeleteThis paragraph from the Business of Fashion almost made me cry:
Delete“But she also tried lowering prices in order to attract new customers and updated styles as frequently as some competing fast-fashion retailers, according to Bloomberg. Neither strategy was successful in reversing the slide in sales.“
Just give me some gorgeous printed pencil skirts and quality construction in natural fibers! I don’t want to go further down the rabbit-hole of cheaply-constructed nasty-fabric boxy crop-top “trendy” garbage. I have good money to spend if J. Crew would return to its glory days of beautiful staple pieces.
Victoria's Secret is doing worse than anyone... they barely have any stores left! What a terrible sign.
DeleteVS used to have amazing swimsuits. Unlike the ultra-skimpy Pink stuff they carry now, they used to have great mid- and high-waist bottoms, and bra-sized tops that actually provided support, coverage AND style. I own many of their suits from 8-10 years ago and they still look great (I wish my mid-section had aged as well as my suits have!).
