This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale
items at our
various local J.Crew stores. ;)
If
you are stopped
by a J.Crew store this past weekend
to see what's available (if
anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS
{sigh!} in person, maybe you
might be willing to
share that with us in this post. In
particular, if you could share
with us a few of the noteworthy items
that are available, at what
prices, and potential sizes the
store is carrying (as well as the
store location)- that would be
fantastic!
Also, please
let us know if your local store
was/ is carrying an additional
percent off sale. Thanks in
advance!!! :)
No store visit this week. Not much I like right now, and waiting for a better promo.
ReplyDeleteMy local store had everything 30% off, plus an additional 25% off if you used your Jcrew card. I've never seen anything like that. I would've gone nuts, but there just isn't much out right now that I want -- even at nearly 50% off.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if that’s the new promo for 5/1?
DeleteMy store had the same promo going when I was there on Friday night and it was very busy with a line at the registers.
DeleteAnyone tried the Cora Slide Sandal? Any opinions on it? I am thinking of ordering today while it is still 40off but not sure. If I did and had to return in store, would the store refund me the shipping cost ?
ReplyDelete@RN, Yes I did 2 pair one in the stripe and the other blue glitter. I am a size 10, they fit my feet very well, have a narrow heel, medium width. I like them very much. Some have said they run a little small in length but I found this was not the case for me.
DeleteI tried on the Cora crisscross sandals in store, and I found them to run narrow. I have normal to wide feet, and I would go up half a size.
DeleteThe store wont refund your shipping, only if they shipped the wrong item or another mistake was made.
DeleteHi RN! I have not tried the Cora slides but I am curious about them too as they have gotten pretty good reviews. Unfortunately, the store will not refund your shipping but maybe consider shipping to a store? Then, you could try them on there and return them immediately or take them home and enjoy wearing them!
ReplyDeletemore.puppies.
ReplyDeleteI would prefer a communication with a % sign in it.
i just got an email saying Free Shipping Forever for cardmembers.
ReplyDeletei know we've been getting free shipping but i thought that was supposed to end. but i guess not! :)
I’ve been wondering about that. That’s a great perk!
DeleteFinally! So happy to hear they’re listening.
DeleteAny tips on how to wear wide leg pants? I recently got the Cropped Silk Pull-on Pant for a good price, but am debating whether they look silly on me or not.
ReplyDeleteWhen I first tried them on barefoot with a random tee, I felt like I was wearing baggy pj's, and not in a good, intentional, tailored-menswear-pajama-trend way. More like "I just had surgery and haven't left the house or showered in a week."
But then I tried them on with a black and ivory Ines de la Fressange cashmere tee and pointy silver loafers to add polish, and I almost convinced myself it was a good look. I'm just not sure I could really wear them to my business casual workplace.
My real question is -- does anyone actually wear wide leg pants? I mean, outside of the J Crew website... And do they "work" for work or play? And do any J Crew aficionadas have styling tips for this particular item? I am wondering if wide leg pants with a paperbag waist would be more versatile.
I really like wide leg pants butthe silk ones didn't work for me as well as I hoped. It could have just been that they needed a steaming or I wasn't crazy about how the waistband sat. Personally I like a drapier wide leg like the silk or crepe, as opposed to a stiffer material. I had intended to wear the silk ones with a sleeeveless silk shell.
DeleteI agree, they were exceedingly rumpled out of the bag, and they probably would have looked a little better with a steaming. That was probably why I felt that they made me look like a social misfit. And yes, the waistband is a little off as well... just a bit too heavy compared to how light and flowing the fabric is. But I think that would be hidden with an untucked top or a blazer... I'm still on the fence...
DeleteI have super wide legged trousers (not cropped) from Madewell (the Caldwells) and I love them and wear them to work. They are high waisted so I wear them with a shirt tucked in or a cropped sweater. While I was traveling in Europe earlier this year, tons of folks in creative industries wore the cropped ones to work and paired them with T-shirts (tucked in or shorter ones) and tennis shoes or Toms. I personally can't pull that off at my job, but if you work in a more lax environment, it looked pretty cool and comfortable. The trick seemed to be keeping everything simple and the colors neutral.
DeleteI have some in a denim and a sweatshirt/terry material. Both are cropped. I like mine with more form fitting tops (tees or even button downs) and either pointed flats or athleisure sneakers depending on the occasion.
ReplyDeleteYes, the pointed flats worked quite well with them... I worried I would look like an extra from Aladdin, but they were actually good together.
ReplyDeleteMaybe check out Tara’s Instagram feed @peterst1 - she wears the navy stripe version of those pants all the time and always styles them beautifully! I will admit they didn’t work for me as I felt the lightweight silk wasn’t quite right, but I do have other wide-leg pants I love from other retailers as well as JC’s ponte version from a couple of years back. If they are long, I like layering a long linen tunic over, if they’re cropped I generally wear a slimmer top to balance the look. (You’d have to do a lot of scrolling on my IG to find them all tho)
DeleteThanks for the tip about Tara Peters' Instagram -- great outfit inspiration! She has great style.
