This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale
items at our
various local J.Crew stores. ;)
If
you are stopped
by a J.Crew store this past weekend
to see what's available (if
anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS
{sigh!} in person, maybe you
might be willing to
share that with us in this post. In
particular, if you could share
with us a few of the noteworthy items
that are available, at what
prices, and potential sizes the
store is carrying (as well as the
store location)- that would be
fantastic!
Also, please
let us know if your local store
was/ is carrying an additional
percent off sale. Thanks in
advance!!! :)
Some JCAs have posted recently about their experiences with a sudden change in the (in practice vs official) price adjustment policy, and I'll add my two cents. Thanks to this forum, I started requesting and receiving price adjustments on sale items in the past few months with no problems. (Before, I had been dissuaded by the written policy online which said only full price items were eligible.) I was (politely) turned down this weekend when I emailed to ask for the recent 40% off discount on some orders on which I had gotten 30% off. I was told that the policy is to offer price adjustments on full price items only. So it looks like they will be enforcing their written policy.
ReplyDeleteThey have every right to set this sort of limit, but it doesn't make sense because now they are encouraging customers to repurchase and physically return previous purchases. More work/time for me and for staff, plus they have to pay to ship the items back to the return center. I don't see how it makes economic sense. I guess they are counting on people not being willing to make the effort.
I have almost always been able to get a PA within 7 days even if the item is on sale. However I usually call and speak with a CS rep. It seems like those that email have had firmer responses. CS was pleasant and had no problem adjusting, so the inconsistency seems unfair to those that couldn't get adjustments. I would recommend calling rather than an email. I hope JC will continue to offer PA within 7 days, as this seems in line with other retailers.
DeleteI would call and ask again.
DeleteMy "new method" of shoping JCrew is going to be waiting for the price I can live with and be done. for me that is usually one price drop and the 40% off.
I have lots of summer items I got last year on super sale and will see if I even wear these items.
I too am just tired of all the time I spend chasing a good deal.
I stopped playing JCrew and other retailer's pricing games over a year ago. Signed up for the Citi Double Cash Card, which lets you submit a request to honor a lower price found within 60 days of purchase. While you don't get the difference in tax back, it's a longer window to watch for price changes. For me it's been worth it, though I'm not a JCrew cardholder and don't know if those rewards would offset any potentially denied PA's.
Delete@Brenda I always forget I have a similar option with my Discover card. I have the J. Crew card but honestly I am earning so little in rewards it makes more sense to start using Discover instead and earn cash back that can be spent many places or applied to my bill.
Delete@JessF, if you go thru the "Deals" section at discover.com, you can often get 5% cash back on JC and Factory purchases, too.
DeleteSo today I found my size (hopefully) in Academy loafers Highland Mist. They did not show up in the sale section, but I just happened to do a search on Academy and they popped up. At $35, I went ahead and ordered.
ReplyDeleteI have the gold pair in 9.5 (fits amazing), the grey heather in 9.5 (ever so slightly tight) and the black in 10.0 (ever so slightly loose). Figuring that the smooth leather fit tighter than the others, I had previously ordered the highland color in 10.0. WAY too big, falling off big. Just when you think you've got the sizing figured out...well if they do not fit I will have another return. I wonder if the size variations are individual pairs not just a function of different upper materials?
As previously posted, I went on Friday and picked up my ship to store. I went back Saturday to return everything I purchased, except the foulard pants. Sale was marked down to an addl 50% off and I got a pair of orange suede lottie flats for $16.99. I've never owned this shoe but I really like the orange to go with my navy trousers and pixies.
ReplyDeleteI have several orders in the pipeline including:
bandanna printed tippi
gathered front popover
embroidered smoking mules
Colette suede d'orsay in nude - snagged these 1/2 size down from my smaller size, does anyone have experience with them?
bonjour tippi
tie front crewneck sweater in multiple size and colors
tartan mountain puffer vest I have wanted since holiday
popover shirt in metallic cotton voile (popped back in a 4t)
pink sweater ruffle sleeves, I just love my cream one
blue satin slide sandal with bow
I thought the satin bow flats were very cute. the lower price was tempting. but I know myself and I think I my wear/and tear of these shoes would have them lasting a only a short time.
DeleteI stay away from suede and satin...
I own the Colette’s in black and nude. They are TTS for me.
DeleteThanks Ina. Everything is always TTS for me, certainly never smaller, but I am stalking them and couldn't resist the popback. $100 saved.
DeleteI'm normally a 10 and I take a 9.5 in the colette, I have 3 pairs, one suede, one linen and one calf hair, I do think they run big. I love them, they are my favorite jcrew shoe of all time! I hope you like and keep them!
DeleteStripedsocks I am so excited! Thank you, your love makes me want them even more!
DeleteThe Colettes ran a half size big for me too - I'm usually a 9.5 in J.Crew shoes and I take a 9 in these. I still haven't bought them but I really should because I don't love their replacement, the Lucie.
DeleteI love my black Colettes. I bought them in my size (6.5) but I wear them often so they might have stretched out. I had to add heel inserts after a couple months and now the heel on one side started to slip again. Next time I will buy half a size down, might be a little tight at first but they will definitely stretch out if worn often.
DeleteAnne, I do love the look of the Lucie, and you wear them well. In fact, your insta pics partially inspired me to buy the Colette! They will be here tomorrow and I will report back. I am a true size 7, so if the 6.5 does not work for me, I will offer it here first.
Deleteaeio2, at least they're still wearable!

ReplyDeleteI received and set aside to return the bandanna Tippi. I wanted to love it, but somehow it made me look like I gained weight. Just not for my shape, I guess. Snug in the shoulders and too loose in the waist. So someone else will end up with a Tippi.
ReplyDeleteThe leopard print PJ's (despite a few poor reviews) passed the husband test, so when it gets warm I'm ready.
In a rare show of discipline for me, I returned mine too! The price was hard to say no to though ($30 Cdn!). A navy print sweater seemed like a great idea but I tried both the XS and the S and it just didn't seem to look right. I usually wear an XS Tippi but it seemed somehow tighter under the arms than usual then I tried the S for a slouchier look but that just seemed unflattering.
DeleteI found this is an informative blog and also very useful and knowledgeable. I would like to thank you for the efforts you have made in writing this blog
