hi everyone! any fit reviews on the everyday cashmere crewneck in solid color? does it fit similar to a tippi sweater? I'm tall so I expect that it will be 3/4 sleeves on me, but I'm wondering about the body, is it slouchy in a way that only looks good with pants/jeans, or is it fitted enough that you can wear it with skirts or over a dress? Also has anyone posted a review with a photo of the sweater on? I always find that really helpful, versus the stock photo. Thanks and have a good week!
ReplyDeleteI have the solid and the striped versions. I am petite (5 ft) and typically wear XS in regular Tippi and S in the petite Tippi. I tried both the XS and S in the cashmere crewneck and preferred the S. The body on the XS was fine, but I found the XS too tight in the arms and under the arms (but I have relatively broad shoulders and back for my size) and I was worried about shrinkage after washing. Because I sized up, the body is relatively roomy, but not excessively. I have only been able to wear it untucked, with pants. I really like the sweater, and there have been some amazing deals. Not sure at this point about the longevity, but when they are going for $40 (Cdn) or less, I can live with a shorter life-span.

DeleteLike the look of the tie waist jacket in camel; lavender could also work well for a trend item. Wish it was cotton or silk instead of poly. Happy to see more low chunky heels for summer sandals. Tropical sandal is cute & like the dark pacific color. Too bad metallic gold is synthetic. Stripe knit maxi is also cute; I’ve worn other iterations of this a lot. Glittery pool slides will work for vacation and beaded watermelon earrings are fun. That’s likely the only fruit I’ll purchase. Hoping for some fun prints for spring and summer.

DeleteI love a subtle fruit theme (lemons for life) but this is just too much. Can't hate on the merino parrot sweater, though. I'll probably buy that and my husband'll tell me I look like a preschooler, but let's be real...that's not gonna stop me from loving it lol
DeleteI saw a summer collection preview and there are lots of flower prints in it (some bright,some more muted). Also a lot of wide legged crops,tons of straw bags in all shapes and sizes. There will be a tee fit guide that explains all the fits of the tees. Loved the leopard platform espadrilles that are come (and more option in the espadrilles are coming. Lots of earrings and tees with sayings on it.

DeleteNo pics to share, but here are my impressions from my fitting room try-on. I would say it is TTS for your normal Tippi size, slightly heavier in weight, and just a touch looser in the hips and slightly longer. I probably would wear it mostly with pants. It's not slouchy, but because of the heft, the bit of extra room, and the small slit in the hem on the side seams, I don't think it would work if you tried to push it higher on the hips and self-blouse it, and it would add bulk if you tried to tuck it in. But it's not out of the question, and others who have actually bought the sweater and tried it with various outfits might disagree.
ReplyDelete@Alyssa I agree with your assessment that you can’t tuck the everyday cashmere. I returned for that reason. It was also a bit short with the side slits and I wished the sleeves were full length as well. They were 3/4 sleeves on me for sure and I don’t have super long arms.

ReplyDelete@Amy - I don't understand why they discontinued the Tippi cardigan. It's such a nice shape. I bought it in numerous colors and I still wear them regularly.

DeleteI miss the long cardigan and the tippi cardigan. I'm trying to keep the ones I have in good repair - my tailor keeps patching little holes (the kind from constant wear at the elbow and cuffs, not a quality issue).
DeleteNordstrom has a long cardigan in their halogen line in a modern red color for $29 on sale. Viscose and rayon, rather than merino but for the price decided to get it as a backup. I wear that color all the time and am not sure I can patch the elbow again one the merino one I've had since 2012!
After passing on it the first time around, I picked up a popback of the Liberty print June's Meadow floral perfect top recently. I really thought I'd hate the smock-like shape, but I actually like the style a lot. I'm really pleased with the prices I've found on Liberty tops recently. When I was inputting clothes into Stylebook, I was reminded that I paid the full price of $150 for several of my Liberty shirts! I've worn them a ton, so I still feel good about buying them, but I doubt I'd pay that much now.
ReplyDeleteI'm also really enjoying the dirt cheap (about $20) slim boyfriend jeans in Charles wash. I decided to keep both pairs, one in my larger size and one in my smaller size. Honestly, the size difference is nearly imperceptible. They do stretch out a bit with wear and become more "boyfriendy," especially in the larger size, but I don't really mind as they don't creep down like some jeans tend to do. There are few things that annoy me more than having to constantly hike up my pants.
I also bought two pairs of the slim boyfriend jeans in Shelton wash for even cheaper ($18 a pair!) but they just arrived and I haven't worn them yet. The color is a bit lighter than I usually buy, but I do like light washes for summer, so I'm fine with it. Again, I decided to keep both sizes as there seemed to be little difference between them and both fit just fine.
Wow, I was just coming to report about the slim boyfriend jeans in the Charles wash, and you did even better pricewise than I did!
ReplyDeleteEven still, for about $30 I ordered a size up and size down (regular size 25 not available). The size down fits exactly as I'd expect from a slim boyfriend style. The back pockets are flattering and I like the wash a lot. The size up doesn't feel outrageously huge. They're both a good supplement to my favorite Goldsign for jcrew jeans that I wear to death and I'm hoping to preserve a little.

DeleteI was lucky enough to get an extra percentage off on the Charles wash jeans, bringing the price down to $22 for one pair and $20 for the other. Definitely a great buy as I’m sure I’ll wear them a lot.
