Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  1. I went yesterday to check out the new arrivals and the only thing I really had my eye on was the Mens-y tiger cardigan. I was so excited about this and the tigers are sooooo cute. Here's the thing: it is a white sweater, and the pattern is printed on. So, the white shows through in the ribbed parts that are normally in the folds, and is quite noticable if you have any strain at all on the placket or at the waist. It really put me off. It makes the sweater look old and like it has runs/snags. Even the seams under the arms showed up as a small white stripe standing out against the navy. They really couldn't afford to actually dye the wool?! I was tempted to buy at full price when I first saw it online, but now I will definitely wait for sale, or at least a decent promo.

Also stopped by Nordstrom and saw that J. Crew will be bringing back the Reese pant, in both navy and olive.

    1. I saw that sweater in store yesterday. The pattern is nice (I love menswear patterns), but yes, the whole thing is printed and the white underthread shows through. I think the days of real intarsia knitting (remember the Butterfly Sweater?) at J Crew are over. I also noticed that the placket is serged to the body and it looked kind of cheap.

Bottom line: cute style, poor construction. Good Sale-Plus-Promo item.

    2. Saw the Reese pants online this morning at Nordstrom. I like the olive color; however am reminded that in my last closet clean out I gave away the navy pair that had the white stripe down the sides. I work with mostly men in a business casual office environment. The few times I wore these, despite styling with heels, I got several strange looks accompanied by "are you wearing track pants?" Lol. Men!

    3. YESSS!! I came here just to gripe about the tiger sweater being printed on. I also went to a store yesterday to look at it, and while I love the embroidered tigers, WHYYY did they decide to print the color/pattern on rather than use the colored thread?? Any sort of stretching (as in, your body wearing it) will thin out the vibrancy of the color and sustained stretching will make the white underthread come through. Plus, printing instead of actual dyed threads means this sweater will be washed out after a few wear and will definitely not last beyond 1-2 years. I am so disappointed - this was the only thing in the rollout I was excited about. (while I was there, I also asked the security guard at the door whether he thought the silk tiger shirt and pants looked like pajamas, and he advised not to wear it together - valid and honest fashion advice from what I consider the average man).

    4. eeps, that's a good point about printed-on dyes fading quickly with laundering. Dark dyes like that will start to look washed out after a few months.

This IS fast fashion. Cute, "buy now, wear now" pieces at mass price points that aren't meant to last year to year, or even season to season. I'm okay with it if that is my intention when I buy.

    5. J Crew has been doing printed sweaters like this for ages. I have printed cotton and wool sweaters from 2007 and 2008 (Florentine, Bahia, Tangier), and they have held up great. But I think they did a better job of printing back then or maybe they used better dye, because I could tell even from the online photos that there was white peeking through in this one and I don't have that issue with my "vintage" sweaters. Hopefully the camo Tippi is better, even though it also looks to be printed.

I'm not sure if they could knit this pattern in as opposed to printing it like they did - the pattern itself is very small and intricate. They did use an intarsia knit in the Palm Tree Tippi that they released this summer. I also thought that maybe they could have used a navy sweater as the base instead of white and only have printed on the pattern, but then realized that the colors wouldn't have shown up.

    6. I have a few printed sweaters from around that same period, and they also have held up well with handwash. However I noticed that the printed sweaters from back then I never saw the white underthread even when the sweater was a dark color. This was the first time I immediately noticed it.
That said, as Ruffles said, if you accept that quality for that price, then it's OK. I personally think its still really cute but I'm not going to pay FP or even 30% off for that quality. (but 40-60%? I'll definitely bite)

  2. Shame about that sweater. I was curious, but it sounds like it looks (and is) cheap.

  3. I'm excited they brought back Crewcuts at the b&m in San Francisco. Took it away and replaced it w Men's Ludlow shop...wonder if they took that away now. Might want to visit this Saturday to see and hopefully try the new stuff.

  4. Thank goodness the 60% off sale is over. I feel like the fever that I had over the last couple of days has finally broken.

I was not very disciplined, but it's hard to be disciplined when things are marked down so much. Did I "need" any of it? Of course not. But it's hard to say no when your cart holds multiple items and the total bill when you check out is $100... (Or in my case, my many carts and many checks outs...) I bless and curse those "popbacks"

    1. @TorontoModern, exactly what you said! My 'careful' shopping went right out the window. I'm going to be embarrassed when my mailman brings me 5 packages. They've all shipped surprisingly quickly and will likely arrive together.

    2. I agree that it is so easy to get sucked into things when the prices are that low. I placed 3 orders and everything from the first two shipped already. The last is a reorder of previously purchased shoes ( raffia Lilly) I have not worn yet and the tie neck tie top in cotton. The good news is 40% off and Final Sale is not appealing at all. I am hoping to just sit back and wait for the fall items to be released.

    3. Thanks J.Crew for removing 60% off with 40%. Like the rest of you I've overindulged and have a wee bit of a shopping hangover. The lesser promo should keep me in check till the fall rollouts begin.

  5. Did not get anything from the 60 off sale. I has gotten a good amt when it was 50 off and was tired of the same selection left so I waited to spend my money at the Nordstrom Anniversary sale which just opened to the public. Prices are still kind of high for many things but I was awake right when the sale went public and and ordered a Kendra Scott bracelet for around $35 and cute silver Halogen loafer mules for about $60..Need to stop shopping now I keep spending too much!!

  7. Madewell PSA: if anyone is considering purchasing The Boardwalk Buckle Sandal (item G2004), I'm not sure I would recommend going down a half size, despite what the majority of reviews. IMO, I think these might be closer to TTS. I am a 6.5 with most shoes (despite taking a 6 with some JC styles), but reviews said these shoes run narrow. I do not have narrow or particularly 'small' feet, so I got these in a 7. They fit well everywhere, except at the length at the toe, which is now off by a good half inch. It's enough that I worry about tripping over them while walking up stairs or some such.

They were cheap enough ($21, but Final Sale) and I might still try to make them work, but I just wanted to share my experience.

Also, they do feel snug, but not tight at the bridge with the second strap. Since they're leather, I think they will loosen after they're broken in. Reviews also mention that that the first strap is tight - I did expand the width of the buckle, in hopes of having my toes reach more of the edge of the shoe top.

These are cute and easy, at a good price -- the trick is finding the right size. (Again, I didn't get a chance to try on the 6.5 and for all I know, those might have then been too tight.)

Oh, a few reviews mentioned that the strap holes aren't fully punched in -- that was my experience as well. I managed to push thru the hole using the buckle clasp.

  8. i have to say i'm having a fairly easy time resisting all these sales. so far this month i only bought the eyelet striped tee (on sale) and pre-ordered the NY sweatshirt and the ruffle utility dress (which is backordered until august)... i'm really trying to be more conscientious of what i spend my money on.

    1. @Miss JR, that's great that you've stayed on track! I really need to get back to shopping with thoughtfulness and care. I also ordered the NY sweatshirt even though it's scorching hot here. The utility dress looks nice!

  9. Jcrew Factory is having an extra 50% off of clearance items. I typically don't bite, but I actually ended up getting a bunch of stuff for my entire family! I purchased a couple work staples for me (pencil skirt and tee to wear under my suits), some boxers and a pair of shorts for my hubby, and some handstand shorts and tees for my kids. It was a ton of items that added to a few dollars over $100, so I even got free shipping to boot. I will probably receive everything in the mail in 6 different packages, over the next three weeks...but I can live with that. ;)

  10. I went to the store last night (which I rarely get to do because it's two hours away). I was generally not impressed. The sale section was actually quite picked over, which is different that how I found it a month or so ago (busting at the seams). The new arrivals were fine, but I think my issue with this roll out is it's not cohesive at all. How does the embellished white peplum top at all mix (seasonally or aesthetically) with the camo Tippi? Anyway, the camo Tippi is very nice (I also like the collared Tippi). I also liked the white eyelet dress. I didn't try it on and I really have no use for it, but it looked like a nice piece on the rack. They were running 30% off most items, and if you had a card it was an extra 20% off so that was cool. I didn't get anything though, after seeing the basically free items J.Crew had this week with the 60% off sale even the 30%+20% didn't seem like that great of a deal.

  11. I was in store today, diff location than my usual. I had a dress to return a few days past the 60 days. It was first refused because they only take returns up to 30 days. I corrected the manager, and he acknowledged, but of course I was a few days past. I explained this was a gift for someone, and it didn't work size-wise, but that I had also already reordered the same dress in a larger size and that that one was on it's way. He seemed to take pleasure I refusing me. I left after relaying that I buy most of my clothing there and that I was disappointed they did not want to help me out. I called CS a few minutes later, they said he could have just accommodated me, and that they would accept the return by mail, as well as sending feedback to the store. She said they may call me about it. After driving to a B&M I end up using the return mail service after all. I highly doubt I would ever go back to that location.

    2. That sounds really frustrating and disappointing, Sarah, sorry to hear. I agree that I don't understand why the manager was taking such a hard stance, why he couldn't even do the 'one- time courtesy' spiel. I'm glad CS came thru, at least. 😕

  12. I WILL be visiting JCrew this weekend BECAUSE MY LOCAL STORE IS CLOSING. Email rolled in last night. It is going to RE-OPEN on July 28 as a JCrew Mercantile. WHAT???

That's what's happening in Charlottesville, Virginia. University of Virginia, horse farms, wineries, some tech start-ups, regional health care and lots of restaurants are the local employers. The mall its in, Fashion Square, is anchored by Sears and JCPenny, and has been superceded by a higher-end outdoor mall a mile away, Stonefield, which has a Wms Sonoma, Vineyard Vines, Brooks Bros., Crate & Barrel, LLBean, LuLuLemon, big movie theatre, restaurants, etc.

Charlottesville is about 70 miles from Lynchburg (the company's outlet stores have closed there) and the closest JCrews are in Richmond, about 60 miles east, and in and around DC, 80 - 100 miles north/east.

This JCrew has been here for a couple decades. Sad.

    3. I understand they are closing about 20 stores nationwide- I wonder if they are using existing leases to turn them into mercantiles. Very interesting!!

  13. This is a continuation from yesterday's post but I wanted to give my daughter the Madewell Mariel Buckle sandals. I bought them and she loved them, so I wanted to pick up the Talisa Buckle sandals for myself which are a little higher. I called my store this morning and they had a 9. I vary between 8.5 and 9 and they held them for me. Ends up the 9 works. (The 8.5 might too, but these don't feel too long.) I actually prefer the darker saddle color for myself anyway. Win. Win.

I stopped in to J.Crew to return the tie waist shorts in white. I had bought them a few weeks ago and paid a great price on sale, but the silhouette of the pockets created a weird shadow around the crotch (where there are no pockets) and each time I tried them on it was apparent to me even if no one else would notice. I'm glad they took them back and I'll keep the white linen ruffle skirt instead.

    1. I liked the linen ruffle skirt on you, Suz Has.

    2. Thank you, Sarah! I did too, more so than the tie waist shorts in white!

    3. I love the look of the shorts, and wear them, but I'll admit the linen skirt looks easier to wear. And... linen.

      Delete
    4. I love the shorts too and I'm glad I got the black, but I agree, the linen skirt is just easy. It's funny, I tried on a few skirts today because it was so hot and I felt some were too puffy, some too constricting, and I find the shape of the linen one perfect.

  14. So the first of my 60% off orders arrived already in three separate packages for four items. I am glad this order was not final sale! I like the striped NB leggings and will keep but the NB top was so tiny I swear I hurt myself trying to put it on and it was skin tight. The eyelet one shoulder top just looked downright silly on me. I know I will not wear it. I like the Suede Fiery sunset Lillies but I really like the new Lottie tassel flat and think I would prefer that style. The up side was a received a 20 % off stackable code good through the end of August. Hope to pick up a few more of these along life's way as I think I have two more packages coming from the warehouse. Looking forward to hearing about everyone else's successes and/or failures. My other two orders are final sale but I am more confident those items will work for me.

    4. Hi JessF - I found those NB tops to be super small as well, even after sizing up. It felt like I was going to dislocate my shoulder trying to put it on (and then off as quickly as possible!). The non-NB JC workout clothes tend to fit more true to (JC) size, IMO.

  15. Sale got me this morning with a maxi dress popback. I got the navy/white stripe version a few weeks ago and it works so well with my bump. I sized up and there is plenty of room. Today a cobalt/white stripe version popped back so I bit even though it was final sale. Should work just fine and I'm in desperate need of maternity clothes! Nothing is fitting or comfortable anymore! Both of these dresses will work through September.

    1. Glad you found those dresses, liztriden. That style worked well for me before, during, and after baby. I put off buying a lot of maternity clothes while pregnant, but once I had them, I was sorry I hadn't had them sooner! Most of them were short-term use but were still worth it.

  16. Although I didn't get the coveted 20% off codes, I did get two orders today:
First box contained the Wide-brim hat with leather trim in mauve blush. Size S-M. It's a little big but a great hat for a great price, if like me you're sitting at your kid's sporting events or the pool/beach and like a big hat for sun protection, I recommend. I like that I can wear it around my neck when walking.
    Next package contained:
Long-sleeve chambray shirtdress, XXS, XS. I bought the Madewell midi dress last summer and realized that length is not for me. The smaller size of this fits close to my body but not tight. I don't find it as fitted as shown online but it works well with a belt or casually without. I like the bigger size too but it actually looks a little sloppy belted.

High-waisted short in postcard print, 00, 0. I like the fit of these shorts. Both sizes fit although the larger size is more comfortable. These have front pockets that are sewn so tightly I'm not even sure which seam opens the pockets. I'm not sure I love the fabric. The shorts are a light but nice weight. I wish they offered them in a simpler pattern. I know factory has had a similar style but I haven't wanted to take the chance after a few less than thrilling factory short purchases. And no easy access to return.

Playa sandals Bright poppy. These are great easy sandals and the color is bright but not neon. Love that they slip on so easily. I believe they are only full sizes.

  17. Oh this is funny. I forgot I had ordered some factory sunglasses a few months ago. They shipped today. I ordered a pair of retail sunglasses this week and I think the styles are similar but the retail cost 3X the price. Styles are similar. I look forward to seeing how the quality differs, if indeed it does.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. IMO the retail ones are nicer in general. I was at Factory today (2nd visit there), and thought their accessories looked too cheap. Not to say the ones you received couldn't be good, though! I hope you like them. The only things at Factory that caught my eye were a tiny Crewcuts suit jacket and for me, a red skirt. The skirt was a rich color, and was a low price, but I didn't try it on since the little guy was with. He looked cute in the jacket, but it was too big and we ended up not purchasing anything.

      Delete
    2. I have avoided factory for that reason for the past few years, in addition to the fact that i don't have one close for returns. For $11 and change, I might keep the second glasses as extras no matter what, but for clothing I've been more hesitant.

      Delete
    3. I have had the same pair of Factory Crewcuts metal aviator style sunglasses for 4+ years now, they have been everywhere from Disney World to New Orleans and have taken a beating but are still in perfect shape. I might have paid $15 for them. I am usually so tough on sunglasses that I have been amazed they have lasted.

    4. Thanks TeriLynn, that's good to hear. I had bought a few pairs awhile back and gave one to my husband and daughter, one the lens was cracked and these were backordered.

  18. I went to a store at lunch to sadly return the Zip-front dress in Petite (bought last week, but with The Great Sale, I was able to get a PA so that it came down to $32.) I should've remembered that sheath styles rarely work for me - too tight on top, too big on the bottom. Shame as it's a well-done, albeit fussy, quality piece. (Fussy in that you have to undo and redo a few buckles to get in and out of dress.) Bummer.

All was not lost, however! I spotted a boys' canvas double loop belt (navy with white stars) in the sale section, was so cute and only $8+! So that was a nice surprise.

  19. No store visit since I'm in MI and closest store is 90 minutes away. But major love to CS who did PA's to include 20% off coupon on my 60% off sale purchases.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. The coupon clearly says it's stack-able, but one manager(?) at the Downtown Portland store is always making some BS about what types of promos they can be stacked with. It changes every time I go in. I'm hoping to either use mine online only. Otherwise I will probably go the J.Crew further out because they aren't petty about those things.

      Delete
    2. Yes! I also had that experience at Pioneer Square! "50% off is our lowest price" and the next day it's 60% off online...I was not pleased. Washington Square is much better about it but so far away.

    3. It's sad those stores make you go out of your way just to get proper service. Don't they think accepting a coupon is better than losing sales and alienating customers?

      Delete
  20. There are about four things I want, but I am holding off until August to get them. I want them to all be on sale. I also have the additional 20%, a new one, that expires at the end of August.

I did get the rest of my orders and I love everything. The Collection Thomas Mason® for J.Crew top with tulle trim is just precious. I am happy I didn't wait because I would have been bummed to miss it. I heard some reviewers saying it runs small, but I don't think it runs small as much as it runs petite. I often wear a petite on top and this one fits perfectly around the armpit area/shoulder area, that I think us petites struggle with. I could see taller ladies needing to size up for that reason.
This shirts has convinced me I need the tulle vest when it pops back.

I got the ruffled short in black after seeing this (https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/originals/51/e1/e7/51e1e712cdf06d41a74ab15b97c2c032.jpg) outfit. They're cute, true to size but wide in the waist. I have quite a large gap, but hopefully it will be disguised when I tuck my shirts in.

Late to the game, but also got the Tie-neck top in oxford cotton. It fits me a million times better in the petite. When I tried it on in a regular in store I wasn't impressed, but I was motivated to give it a shot by all cute photos of other people wearing it.

Same thing with the Petite white denim skirt with raw hem. It was overwhelming and not cute in the regular. The petite was scaled down a lot better for me, so it looked more the way it does on the model.

More ruffles, I got the Linen short with ruffle trim. I actually don't remember seeing them full price, they do say SP17, so I must have missed them. They're super cute, short, but the ruffle really makes them feel longer.

I hope it's still warm when I travel to Japan in October, because I feel like a lot of these "cute" things will fit right in.

  22. My Tiered Eyelet Dress came today, Ina had a pic on her IG. It's more of an off-white/ivory instead of a true white which I think is better. I bought a P6 which is the larger of the two sizes I isually buy. It's beautiful, all cotton, with a shift style. The length is perfect which is good since it would be hard to hem it. It's a little roomy in my bigger size but because it is cotton I think I will stay with it. I like a little more room when it's hotter and I think sizing down will be too tight on my hips, I have a pear shape. The online review said it wrinkled easily and I can see how that might be. The only thing I worry about is whether or not I'm too old to wear it in my mid-40's. I hate having to think about it but even though it makes me feel pretty, I don't want to look ridiculous.

I struggle with similar thoughts, but lately I've been thinking that when you love something, and especially when it makes you feel pretty, wear it!
I think its a beautiful dress and am planning to order it to try in a petite, too.

    2. TeriLynn13, no no no!!! Why do you think you'd look ridiculous? I am unfamiliar with the dress so just looked at Inas IG. I don't think it's too cutesie or youthful. If it makes you feel good, go for it, (though of course I'm a fan of trying something a few times if I'm unsure)

    3. TerriLynn13, I'm also in my 40s and I would wear that dress without fear of looking too young or like I'm 'trying too hard' - I think it perfectly lovely and age-appropriate. I'm CERTAIN you can wear it, too!! I'm glad to hear that it fits so nicely. The lace looks really pretty and I think the color almost gives it an antique and soft look. Enjoy!!

    4. Thanks ladies, I appreciate your words of support and encouragement. The ivory was really a smart choice to make it more vintage and less bridal. It's hanging on my closet door as I ponder and because I need to try it with the right bra. More and more I realize the importance of how undergarments can really change how something looks on you. I used to have an A cup and have moved up a little so I have to care a bit more. I have been also doing a 48 hour waiting period on clothes before I actually take the tags off. I have a section of regret items that I hurriedly took the tags off only to realize I didn't like it as much as I thought. It was one of my New Year's resolutions!

      Delete
    5. I am that person that leaves tags on until I wear the item. a) It's the lazy thing to do, b) it's easy to return if I change my mind, and c) if I don't return it in time and don't wear it, it will have highest resell value possible for that item, NWT.

      Delete
    6. ^absolutely agree. And I got burnt on this recently because I actually WAS wearing an item for the first time and changed (not like I was even wearing it around the house, I put it on before I was leaving for an event and switched pants). At this point I would have returned them but too late, :(

  23. I stopped by for returns today and asked the store manager, whom I've known since 2007, what's going on with the Style Guides. He said that the next one will be August and, from what they're told, JC is going to "relaunch" the Style Guide. He says they are not told much, but he thinks the frequency may now be every quarter. Will be interesting to see. . . .

  24. Tried the garment dyed utility popover, Neptune green. I really thought this was going to be the same lightweight material as the long sleeve one in moss with the bottoms on the side. Oddly enough, it's more of a stiff, heavy (utility?) weight cotton. Fit is wide and boxy. I tried it with the tie waist shorts as shown in pics and it doesn't work for me. Luckily not final sale so back it goes.

    2. For me anyway, that's how it fit. I do Happen to have a. Long narrow torso and have to size up to a 2 for my shoulders, but I have other popovers that fit better.

  25. I stopped in on Thursday to check out the new arrivals. There were quite a few things missing from the rollout but I guess they were expecting "part two" this week. Seems a bit odd but oh well. I tried on the tiger silk pants and cardigan, collared Tippi, camo Tippi, slim boyfriend jeans in Silverwood wash (love), Lucie pumps, hand embellished peplum top, tiered Eyelet dress, tulle Tippi, embroidered floral mini skirt, ruffle chino jacket and the ruffle-neck dress.

You can see photos and reviews on my blog here

    1. Those jeans look amazing on you. How are the back pockets? Sometimes I find them to be a little too small in crew BF jeans. And the Sweaters (minus the Mensy sweater) are perfect.

    2. Love the first look with the collared Tippi on you. You looked good in everything, but that was my favorite for style. I thought I was over all-out preppy but I guess not.

I want to try the daisylace pants, too. Looking forward to your review and styling choice.

    4. Great reviews as always, Anne! You look great and I like those distressed jeans on you (don't want to enable, but I totally understand the jeans situation! 🙈)

I like both of those Tippis and I'm hoping they produce different versions of the collared one. I love the look of shirts under sweaters, but rarely wear both since my office is so hot in winter.

One thing about that Tiered Eyelet Dress, pretty sure it's cotton, including the lining. I checked the label in store when it debuted because I was curious about the online description saying that it's poly (i thought j. Crew must really be losing it if they were indeed making poly dresses for summer!) They had so many copyediting mistakes with this rollout that I'm not surprised this has the wrong description. Incidentally, they finally got around to correcting 'Tencel'.

Can't wait for part 2 of the rollout and seeing what else you try on! I'm hoping to pick up that camo tee.

    5. ladies, thanks so much for the kind feedback!

Suz - the pockets seem the same as my other styles of JC jeans - I don't find them to be small.

TM93 - thanks! interesting and that makes so much more sense because in hindsight I kept thinking there is no way that dress is poly...

Sarah - decisions re: the daisy lace items! I'll have to find out what my store got and hopefully get in next week. Will keep you posted!

    6. You look so cute in everything, even those tigers that I can't stand. I would be interested in the eyelet dress if it wasn't polyester. I have an eyelet dress from Abercrombie I like alot that is polyester, but the lining is cotton, so it still makes it nice to wear against the skin. It is also significantly cheaper, so I can forgive it. J.Crew tends to line it's dresses in polyester, so I don't have a ton of hope this one is.

I do like the Ruffle-neck dress. Again, you model it better. I think it would make me look like a cupcake, which is fine. It would need to come in other colors for me to buy it though.

    7. @Jessica, the Tiered Eyelet Dress actually isn't polyester, despite its description online - JCA TerriLynn13 just got it and also confirmed that it's cotton.

Last winter, the online description for a wool Rhodes blazer listed it as poly upon its initial debut! They really need to double-check these descriptions better.

    8. I should clarify that the shell and the lining are both cotton. (The lone review for this dress says that it wrinkles easily so perhaps this is partly the reason why.)

    9. Apparently the embroidery itself is poly, it says that on the tag. That doesn't explain the fact it is described as poly on the web site. It's not the worst mistake they could make, hope someone is spell and grammar checking all the new items 😄

  26. I tried on a few things this weekend when I was picking up an online order. Tryon posts of the Camo Tippi, Tiger pants, Tennis Tee and summerweight stripe sweater are on my IG.

    1. Like the tiger pants on you, shopping celle. I'll give them a try, assuming my store has them.

    2. Thanks Sarah. Just waiting on a promo!

    3. Yes, on a regular decent promo the price would be good. I'm glad about that. I've noticed some items have lower Regular prices. I can't think of another silk pant that J Crew debuted under $100. hope this is a step to mitigate pricing games. That would allow me to buy more in store and spend less time stalking online.

    4. Agree. Maybe that could help us,that still have them, to support our local stores instead of shopping online.

      Delete
    5. Yeah I noticed the utility dress is $79.50 reg price, then with promo comes down to $59. I consider that a bargain. A few years ago I think it would have come out at say $148.

    6. @cass Jyst got my "Pardon my french" tee! Thank you for shipping it!!!!

  27. Seattle store had a card holder 20% of everything sale today. They were very nice about ordering me a shirt not in the store and honoring the discount. Has anyone seen the new Boy-meets-girl shirt yet?

  28. Their is a new promo up: 25% off with code MONDAY. I'm sure their are exclusions but it looks like a lot of new stuff is included. Sale items are still 40 or 50% off.

    1. Already ordered the Silk Tiger shirt, new chambray shirt, and the stripe ruffle shirt that Ina posted on her IG.

A reviewer online posted that the tiger shirt fits the same as the Drake's birds of paradise. Which was not good.

A size 2 fits me on the BOP, so hoping the Tiger won't be a problem for me as well. I don't know...I already own the green/pink Drake's pj top, one tiger shirt is enough. 😁

    2. oh, yes, there are exclusions.

    3. Oh course the camo Tippi is excluded. Sad trombone!

    4. Curious about the promos for the rest of the week after today's Jcrew email. I'm assuming TUESDAY, WEDNESDAY etc. Wish I knew what day would be the best deal.

      Delete
    5. Hi SC - from the looks of the icons on the main page, I'm guessing Tuesday = tops, Wednesday = shorts, Thursday = swim and Friday = ? Probably a better % off sale. When they've done these daily sales in the past the promo is like 30-40%... so maybe tomorrow 40% off (select) tops? I'm basically thinking out loud at this point. ; )

    6. Duh! Silver lining thanks for noticing the icons!

    7. Silver lining, that analysis has brought forth the urge to track the J Crew promos and figure out their science. Like airline deals for the J Crew afflicted.

  30. Hello JCAs! I've been on a bit of a hiatus from J.Crew (and blogging), but I did wear a few J.Crew pieces to an outdoor wedding here in Montana this past Friday. I've shared a little glimpse of 'life in the 406', including what I wore on my blog today... hope you'll stop by and say hi! :)

  31. Love how the camo pants are styled with the broad stripe shirt on the website. This is a men's shirt so I asked CS for measurements and ordered it in a size S (I'm normally a size 8/M). The shirt was eligible for the 25% off (the Tippi in camo sadly not).

    2. Hi Ina, that's great to hear. It looks like a beautiful blueish green on my iPad. Now I'm waiting for a decent promo to order the camo patch pocket pant and the Tippi

  32. Today's 25% promo led me to order the long-sleeved striped dress - it looks like a shorter version of the striped maxi dress (which I have, and which fits me very well!) - so fingers crossed!

    1. A) Your instagram handle is amazing.
B)Thanks for posting those! I want pretty much every pair of shoes you showed.

    2. Lol, I went through like 4 different handles before settling on that one. :)
You're welcome. Yes, the shoes were nice walkable heel heights and cute fabrics.

    3. Love that striped shirt (is that the backwards top?), the (bee?) pants, that cube retro print dress and the (tweed?) heels with the bow!! Very fall and VERY cute. Did you buy anything?

    4. Thanks for the preview pics, Cass! I'm looking forward to the next roll-out and the Style Guide!!

Madewell has new arrivals on-line. A couple of items I was interested in have already sold out.
I'm interested in the Slim Straight Jean. Wonder how it compares to the Rail Straight from years back. Also like the Modern Tie-front top, Province Crossback Pullover (concerned it might be too overwhelming for petite frames), Small Transport Cross-body (hard to see if it has some sort of closure. Wish they'd show the interior of a light colored bag), Elinor Loafer, Tiny Jewels Amazonite Lariat (wish it was silver, though, or gunmetal), Side-zip Bomber, Jacquard Diamond shape scarf (love the shade of blue with the cream).

      Delete
    5. I didn't buy anything--didn't even try anyhting on--just went to snap pics! I won't buy without a promo so I will wait for normal rollout time and promos. :) Yes the pants/shorts were bee print. I think it is the backwards top. I will try that on when it comes out in the regular stores. It's not really "backwards" because there's no pointed collar in the back but it appears that way because the front collar looks like the back of a normal collar. It had buttons on one shoulder and hi-low hem (which some people may not like).

  34. Tuesday promo is everyday styles .... . Wed shorts? thursday swim? friday ? cam anyone confirm or have any insider info on the weeks sales? As Canadian shipping is $12..if will have to be really good for me to buy anything. But I am looking...and hope for pop backs.
