This is the weekly "J.Crew Reviews {straight from the JCAs}" post, to help each other share our reviews.So if you have recently purchased, or stopped by a J.Crew store to try on an item (or two) from J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.
Also, this request is not just limited to clothes. Please feel free to discuss bags, shoes, jewelry, accessories, etc.
In particular, if you could mention a few of the noteworthy details like fit, size, fabric, and the like— that would be fantastic! Thanks in advance! :)
There must be some site issues. Got an email that there are new arrivals but they are not showing up on the website. It seems like today is the release day with free shipping too. Hopefully the site gets fixed soon!

DeleteIt seems like such a mistake to send an email announcing new arrivals and have it link to the last roll out. Most shoppers would just roll their eyes and walk away.

ReplyDeleteTotally psyched about new arrivals at the NYC flagship on 5th Ave last night. I went to pick up an online order and ended up buying 4 new full price styles -- a rarity for me! The SA said new stuff came in on Sunday night.
ReplyDeleteThey've brought back a Drake's style tiger print silky pant and button down top...loved both, bought both. I also tried a darling cardi with embroidered tigers but didn't buy.
I picked up a pair of Sadie D'Orsay flats in glitter snake. So pretty!
Tried the floral eyelet bell sleeve button front top in both colorways (navy and white). Loved both, bought the white.

Delete@Alyssa....I considered the cardi to fit TTS but it's the first fitted cardi I've tried in ages so I don't have a reference point unfortunately!
DeleteI tried it on over a t shirt and it fit nicely. My guess is if you plan to wear it over long sleeves, maybe then size up or choose your larger of 2 sizes.

DeleteI can see the new arrivals. There are a few new shapes that interest me, like the perfect top which is offered in a blue and a red floral, neither of which I'd want, but I think the shape is nice. It's like the square neck penny top (I think that's what it was called) but with a round neck.
ReplyDeleteI find it interesting that jeans are still ranging from toothpicks to crop flare to straight leg, etc...maybe I'll keep trying the high rise crops I have and finally get used to them.
A few new ballerina flats I like.
Not as bad as I expected but I'm not whipping out my card just yet.
OT. - Madewell has 30% off sale online and in stores. Unfortunately, a lot of items are final sale.
ReplyDeleteI saw that as I gave up on JCrew's site (still can't see all the new arrivals). I placed an order for a Timeoff tee and Holly Ankle Wrap sandal - both final sale, but the tee was $10 and the shoes $14, so I'm willing to risk it :)
DeleteI was contemplating those sandals, and then, poof! Gone. I tried them in store when they were $80 and didn't bite, but for $14 they're amazing.
DeleteI ordered the time out tanks last week for $15 and they didn't ship yet so I emailed for a price adjustment and took a screen shot of them in my cart just in case.
@Suz - good to know, thank you! Yes! I did a screenshot the last time I emailed requesting a PA. It worked, even though the item had subsequently sold out. I have to say CS has always been so gracious, I really appreciate that!

DeleteSite seems slow but I can see the new arrivals now. It the usual mix of cute and crazy. The new styles of tops - tiered, peasant, plus all the OTS - don't work for my chest (34DD) and aren't work-appropriate.
ReplyDeleteI have to say - I like the camo. A little camo looks very "fall" to me. What do y'all think about the camo items? How does one over 40 wear it without looking like a fashion victim or Duck Dynasty extra?
@Ruffles, I can't see the new arrivals online, but assuming the camo items as the same as the ones we saw last week in the sneak peek (Tippi, cargo pants, shirt-jacket), I'm game (& over 40)! And if you want to avoid Duck Dynasty, don't wear it like i did earlier this spring -- camo mini with a Traffic Safety Orange v-neck, hahaha! I told my stylist that I was very 'Duck Dynasty' that day, hahaha :-)
DeleteFWIW, i generally like mixing white lace or other light-colored tops (light pink or blue) with camo. I bought a camo button-down from H&M this past winter and I like to wear that with my green JC moto pants. I definitely want that Tippi and the cargo pants, though I'm a little less optimistic about those (last season's cargo pants fit terribly on me -- either too snug or too loose.)

Oh weird, I just saw that there is now a Camo T-shirt (wasn't visible in Sneak Peek last week), but the cargo pants in Camo are no longer showing up. Wondering if those were meant for the Fall release instead.

ReplyDeleteI can't see them either, Liztriden. :-( I'm looking via my desktop right now, though I tried earlier via my phone -- I can see some NA items that are on the front page (Eyelet Floral Bell sleeve top, for instance), but not the rest of the items. Womp womp. Hopefully, it'll be fully straightened out later today.

DeleteI don't believe the J Crew website is secure. Shortly after saving my card info to my JC account, I had fraudulent charges. It's the only merchant who had my card info saved in an account. To be fair, it could have been compromised some other way, but that is less likely, as I am actually not a big shopper overall. The constant website issues and timing make me suspect them.

Delete@maryen I didn't, since it's just my best guess, and I'm not trained. I filled out some paperwork for the investigation, though, and I'm hoping they have tracked down and alerted the source of the compromise.

ReplyDeleteI can't see anything new either. In review related news, I'm styling the classic J.Crew suede pumps on the blog today. This is an older style, but fit is TTS. I really love these pumps, because they're a dead ringer for the Manolos.

ReplyDeleteThe website is crazy today. If you go to the new arrivals hardly any of the things that they sent us on the sneak peek last week appear. If you search for items individually they appear. An example is the camouflage Tippi. It does not appear in this sweater section or the new arrivals section but if you search for Tippi you can find it. Strangely enough there are many sale items that are not appearing in the sale section. If you pull up the sale page and search by category they don't appear but if you have them bookmarked or search by item number all kinds of things show up in stock and ready to order at an extra 60% off. Some examples: Linen skirt in palm tree print and the embroidered palm Tippi. Both show some sizes in stock but neither one is to be found on the sale section or comes up when you search for anything but the item number. I hope someone is able to use this info to find some treasures!

Ooh I'm intrigued. I'm guessing it's like the silver one from last fall? Since they kept the same online comments. I like the color matched w the olive colored tee. But what color shoes do you wear with that skirt?

DeleteSo it updated for me and my sale goggles were on. I actually ended up doing ok and did not go crazy. I reordered two items (paley pant and Thorpe top) Also snagged the Drakes elephant dress which will need to be altered as I tried it on and it looked frumpy in regards to length but for the price i am ok with that. The other item was the linen striped dress. I had the Thorpe tie waist shorts in my cart along with a few other things but they ended up being of of stock by the time I checked out which is a blessing! I might have to stalk the Thorpe short but other then that i think I am done.

I have those pants and they are really cute with a navy top. I would not wear the matching blazer with it.... ever!!!! And Suz from seeing your insta I can tell that pattern is not you. @maqsad, Agreed! Scarlett O Hara, that's funny. Are you referring to the tan one or the pink (or mint/navy, I forget which color you got?) tulle? I recall you got both. I keep looking at the striped ruffle wrap skirt. But I know it's way too "much" for me.
DeleteIn the grand scheme of things I really haven't bought too much this spring/summer. Especially with our pending move (which now isn't going to happen most likely, ðŸ˜) I didn't want to bring too much in and I know my summer wardrobe is pretty simple.

ReplyDeleteOn the other hand they came to a grand total of $27 ! I ordered a bag tag ($6), a hair clip ($5) and a perfect shirt in navy Stewart plaid ($16). This last one was inspired by the NYFW FW17 show where they paired camo with navy Stewart plaid, I knew I wanted to recreate that look! So In the end it was sensible shopping !
Thanks for mentioning the hair clips! I am trying to grow out my hair and it's at that horrible stage where I can't do a thing with it. I'm hoping a few cute clips to keep it up with help me bear with it for the next two months. $5 is a good deal for a high quality clip, which I much prefer to elastics at this length.

DeleteI understand not printing the July Style Guiide because it's always been very thin (less rolled out) but nothing for August??
My guess September will happen.
The images in the Looks We Love and summer packing sections look like they would've been pages from the catalog. I hope JC's not being penny wise and pound foolish in scaling back on the catalog - I think that's always brought a lot of interest (at least from the JCA's!).

DeleteAgree, @silver_lining. I always saw things in the paper catalogue that I somehow didn't see in the online images, even if it was the same image, especially things like jewelry. Seeing the details got me to buy things I passed by online.
Ditto. I understand the cost is high on a catalog but a few times a year (like H&m) would be nice. If they could do one for the fours seasons and holiday maybe it would be better than none at all.

ReplyDeleteI think in a situation like this, it's fine. The colors are in the same family. What I'm not a huge fan of is leopard on leopard on leopard. I had to stop myself from buying the signet bag in suede in the sunset/dove/blush combo. Luckily it's gone now. 😉

DeleteI finally got a minute to look more at the new arrivals. This morning I was too worried about stalking the sale section. I love the Lottie suede flats. Great colors. The pink is gorgeous with the multi color tassel ornament. I especially want the gray because it is a wardrobe need. The camo Tippi is also on my wishlist. Of course these are not included in the 40% off section.

DeleteI'm embarrassed to say that I've placed a few orders today, I lost all willpower. I've been so good not to scroll through the sale section but the free ship and % got me. My iPhone was so hot by the time I was done. :) I picked up some basics like perfect tank, hair clip, socks at great prices. Also a sweatshirt for my hubby. I decided to try the newish one-shoulder top as it was selling out today and the 40% off made the price appealing. I'm guessing that by the time I get to a store they'll be out of my size.
ReplyDeleteI didn't buy it today but I just received the Marcel George beach scene tee which I can't believe I snagged on clearance (Reg cdn price was $52). It's lovely and a great price now.
And here I thought I was the only one today. 60% off sale and free shipping isn't really fair to us. It's like leaving an alcoholic to watch the liquor store; you just know someone will over indulge. So... ah... me too on the more than one order. Oops ;)

Lord, someone stop me. I just trolled the sale section and couldn't stop myself on a few popbacks even though its now FS: METALLIC ANKLE-STRAP SANDALS (nervous about these, because the size reviews are all over the place); Audreys in Edenham floral (unsure about the fit - never tried Audreys before); SCALLOPED SKIRT IN WOOL-COTTON GABARDINE (got the tall even though I'm short) and PERFECT SHIRT WITH EYELET TRIM (also got the tall and 1 size up bc of the reviews). Ugh I hate FS. They need to stop this 60% promo before I go broke.
ReplyDeleteHa! You need a lifeline. I just DMd two IG friends about the ruffle waist leopard pants for $16...I hesitated just long enough that they sold out. But I did get my 5'10" daughter the popover in flax for a great price. She tried on my regular length one yesterday and it looked great aside from being a bit short, so the 2T should be perfect and it's a nice classic piece for her.
DeleteI do need a lifelime!! But all my friends are enablers - they love JC too. I had the pants in my cart too but while I was wracked with indecision, they sold out. Probably the best for all of us. I did send a panicked email to my online VPS and she told me to hold off next time (HAHA!!) until I can get measurements from her on FS items. She even tried to cancel my order for me but it was past the window. But the beauty of having a VPS has been I've been able to return FS items (I've only done this for 1-2 items though - not a lot). Another reason I highly recommend getting a VPS.
DeleteThis sale is bonkers. Every morning it's like Christmas and J.Crew popbacks are the gift. I hope this sale ends soon because I do not need another random collection item that is **so beautiful** in the moment when I have my JC goggles on...
