  1. I found this on J.Crew's blog:

    https://hello.jcrew.com/2017-07-july/bag-of-tricks

Looks like some of their models (employees) are wearing J.Crew that hasn't been released yet. Like that backwards shirt, a style that Jenna wore to nyfw, and a Liberty floral print puffer-her outfit (Jenny) is cute! She was the pregnant model during their spring nyfw last Sept.

    1. I'm interested in the weird backwards shirt... I wonder if it will look cool or ludicrous on mortals like me.

    2. I saw that post, but didn't realize they were wearing some yet to be released items. I hope that's true. I'd love to try the backwards shirt. Also love the Liberty puffer, but guessing it will be too $$$ for me. I love that whole outfit, too.
      Thanks for the info @JSR!

    3. I love the look of the Liberty puffer also. Description says it is reversible. Hope J Crew makes more Liberty items in the future. I can't get enough of that stuff! :)

    4. I want Jenny's leopard flats!

  2. Saw the camo Tippi sweater in store yesterday...30% off promo on reg price sweaters (and I think, tops). Cute points in person!

    1. I saw that they were on sale in my store as well! Agree that it's cute but I can't bring myself to buy a sweater now. Hoping to purchase the tee if/when it arrives next week!

  3. Super fast shipping this week!

    1. It is always super slow for me. Takes 3 days to ship out and another 4 to arrive. I'm in a metropolitan area too, so I don't get it. Even slower if I pick ship to store - which is supposed to be faster.

    2. Orders I placed on Monday arrived yesterday. And I chose the free shipping option. This has never happened before!

    3. I find sometimes that if the items ship from a store, some stores overnight/rush ship items which is always a nice surprise!

  4. So I know the rainbow Gingham pattern is not everyone's cup of tea but I received the tie neck dress yesterday and I love it. Sized down one and it is so comfortable and I love the bright colors!!!! Now I want the other dresses in this style.

    1. The piece I want to try is the Bucket hat in rainbow gingham. I hope I won't look like a little kid.

    2. I think if the rest of your outfit is age appropriate it will be fine. I love wearing bright colors though so I might be biased.

  5. My retail therapy (really, 😑) continues this week with some "steals" including:
•the chambray OTS top—I tried it when it first came out and liked it but OTS is not exactly me, I will probably wear it on the shoulder which looks just as good.
•ruffle front top in white—this is another one I've liked even though i might look like I'm going to fly away (as Anne @fablifeforever said) but I think the shape will work well for me and I like it with the bow waist shorts.
•ruffle waist leopard pants in linen—I liked them when they first came out and trie them on so I know they fit. Leopard pants might be a stretch for me but they're comfortable and polished at the same time.
Under $50 for all. I know it's nothing I need but I admit needing the retail therapy at the moment.
The first step is admitting there's a problem, so...

    1. It's ok Suz. As you can see above I posted about a dress while insisting yesterday the one thing I don't need is more dresses!!!! In fairness it was ordered last week. I also ended up getting a one shoulder top after complaining about all the trends. Oh well happy to do some retail therapy that does it break the bank. I hope you enjoy your new pieces!

    2. Oh, I saw that! Haha! I ordered a few other pieces earlier in the week but they're not final sale and may go back, so I feel ok with it. I've been pretty good this summer and actually just sold a few things on Poshmark this week so I'm keeping it balanced.

    3. Suz, so glad you were able to snag the top! I should try it with the bow shorts - the black ones have been my weekend go to for evenings out.

    4. I think I saw a Pinterest or IG shot with the white top and black shorts. I also got the white bow shorts so I'll try both.

    5. @SuzHas, sometimes we all need some retail therapy! It's even better when you get goodies that don't cost a lot, sounds like you scored some good ones. Myself, I'm home for the summer with my 2 and 5 yr olds and have needed some retail therapy lately.

  6. Been reading some others talking about the need for retail therapy and I am joining the list...I admit it (Step 1-check)! All the while, there was a huge discussion about clearing out closets...I did that too, but that 60% off hooked me. Not much but a few goodies to fill in the empty spaces (major smile with a thanks to JC for my TM dress!)

  7. Well, I'm not sure if I love or hate 60% off sale... I bit again this morning. The point sur jeans came yesterday but zero stretch so back they go tonight...I did snag the collection leather jacket in black this morning and the button front denim skirt ($18). I am in denial about how many of coats are going to have to hit Poshmark/eBay this fall and am thinking long and hard about which coats will be the first ones I want to try and replace since it won't be all of them :/

I am going to the store tonight to check out new arrivals, will plan to post to my Instastory and get a blog post up this weekend hopefully!

    1. I feel like this should be a vent but I will turn it into a love. I love that I will be getting money back as I was able to reorder several previously purchased items at substantial lower prices. Not happy that I got sucked into the pricing and return games. I really was on a streak for a few months where there was none of that and it was nice. I actually can't wait until the 60% is over tonight!!!

    2. Anne my above post was really was not in reply to you. Must have hit the wrong button. Hope the leather jacket ships though. That is a great deal!!!

    3. JessF no worries. The skirt was $18...jacket was $200 but vs. FP of $600 not so bad. I ordered a faux leather BlankNYC one from the Nordstrom sale so we'll see how they compare.

    4. Anne--I posted this yesterday to an older thread, but you inspired me to bite on a black Regent after reading that you had picked one up! I also got the seersucker regent and am now a little nervous that I'm going to regret it, but it's a nicer more muted seersucker than the deconstructed regent (I returned that one last year). Ugh I was so mindful about purchases for the past 7 months (I didn't purchase anything from JCrew for at least 4 months and then ended up returning everything I did purchase over the last few months aside from some workout stuff). So...hoping this wasn't a mistake!! On the upside, I was able to stack a 20% card on top of the sale. I also just received the liberty top (BIG THANKS TO MB (mebpr on IG) for letting me know that my size popped back last week! -lep33shops

    5. ^lauren I hadn't noticed that darker seersucker until seeing it in the sale section. I have a back linen regent so I didn't even want to think about it, but I liked the look a lot.

    6. I have a BLACK linen regent

    7. Lauren - I'm so glad you were able to grab one! Such a good price. They went from a full size run to no sizes and it's one of my favorite blazers. Wow - and stacking the 20% off...that's awesome! I actually really miss my deconstructed regent blazer, it was so nice and lightweight. this year's striped one hasn't proven to be as versatile for me but I am planning to wear it tomorrow.

and that liberty top is great....the shorts have gotten a lot of love from me!

    8. Anne, that jacket is a stunner for $200. Hope you love it!

  8. I called to get 2 PAs this week and the Customer Service could not have been nicer! Pricing games are ridiculous but the easy PAs is even better!

  9. Madewell SALE item review:
HIGHLY recommend the Time off tanks from Madewell if you can snag them, my long torsoed self finds them TTS. the shape is great but what you can't tell from the horrible low res pics on Madewells site is the fabric. It's not your basic knit. I'd almost say it's a cross between a tee shirt material and a lightweight sweater. I ordered the black and the red/ivory stripe last week and got a PA this week. They seem to be sold out but keep popping back. I wore it last night with my eyelet shorts and my husband said I looked fierce. (I meant to take a pic and then promptly fell asleep.)

    1. Should add, I wore a racerback bra and it pretty much worked for me without the strap being visible, but it was one of those stretchy cami types with thin straps.

    2. Wow! That's quite a compliment. You sold me @SuzHas. Now to stalk the site for a pop back.
Thanks for the great review and helpful tip about the bra situation.

    3. I'd love to get the solid white/ivory as well!
I think CStyle Is actually wearing it and discssses the bra situation in a post, but I don't do the like to know it nonsense.

  10. Today I'm wearing my anchor print shirtdress from 2007 and I still love it! Miss some of the old prints for sure. Was worried my toddlers will stain a white dress but am trying to wear my clothes instead of them sitting in the closet. I've been rotating between oldies and new JC and I must say I love JCrew for all the great pieces I've bought over the years.

    1. Yes. it feels good to put clothes on. Wear and enjoy!
I wore my white linen garden shorts over the weekend and they did get marks and dirt on them but I washed on delicate and they came out fine. Usually I hand wash the linen stuff but it needed a little more aggressive handling. 😉
Not sure if this is well known, but a few years ago friends did research on how to get sand stains off white softball uniforms and it was found that rubbing ivory soap removed the stains, so of course I bought a six pack of ivory soap and keep it around for treating white clothes. I don't like to use bleach and this definitely helps.

    2. Thank you for the tip! I'll have to look for ivory soap, I hate bleach too so this is great! 😊

    3. Hadn't heard about using ivory soap. That's a great tip. Thanks, @SuzHas!

    4. One more White Clothes tip, but if you ever get the chance to buy The Laundress soap, (sold by JCrew), I do recommend it -- it is a stain godsend, getting everything from pen marks, food, ring around the collar, etc. A fellow JCA recommended it in the past and I am forever grateful!

      Delete
    5. @TM93, I love the laundress soap too and use it everyday between my hubby and kids messes. :) some stains I've had trouble with but overall I love it esp since it's more natural. I noticed the price just increased on the jcrew website.

    6. Hi Jan. I have a little one and really like wearing white. So... Yes to hydrogen peroxide, the Laundress stain bar, or white bar soap. I've had luck with most stain removal. It does put wear and tear on the clothes, but I do want my wardrobe to be worn. The Laundress stain bar has borax in it, which is effective, but I don't like keeping borax itself around since it's so lethal.

    7. I use powdered OxyClean to get out wine stains (because I always seem to spill red wine) and underarm discoloration. I have an old toothbrush that I use to scrub the stain with a paste of OxyClean and water, leave the paste on and let it soak in a sink or tub full of more warm water and OxyClean overnight, and then wash on hot. Usually that does it all. I haven't noticed it weaken the fabric so far, I use it on all my light colored summer clothes.

    8. Container Store sells Laundress products- and usually has them on sale in winter with the closet items promo they do. I stock up then :)

    9. @Laura Matey, that's a great tip, thank you! I often forgot to look for one while shopping online at JC, but I will remember it more easily if it requires a trip to the Container store.

  11. I also love that Liberty puffer on the blog! I found a bunch of stuff I loved from this week's transitional rollout and the SAs at the 5th Avenue store were ultra nice and helpful!

  12. My love this week is that there was a period of time when the 60% was not FS and I am thrilled with my goodies. I hope they all ship.

Happy because I just don't do FS based on too many mistakes over the years that I pay twice for - the second time when I look in my closet and feel bad about the stuff in there that seemed like a good risk but that I will never wear.

I got one shipping notification today so here's hoping!

    1. Agree, Ruffles. With the great sale, I got loafers, a swimsuit, jeans, a suede dress, and the new utility shirt. Only the jeans are FS, but I've already tried them a while back. Happy to find the pop backs at such a great price, and happy I resisted buying more summer-only pieces since I'm doing fine with what I have.

It's been fun just to scroll through what has turned up.

  13. I really like my plunge-front swimsuit in Bohemian red. You need a small chest but if you do it's a great style and you can still swim in it. Going to take it on my honeymoon!
