If
you have recently experienced a
frustrating situation with J.Crew, maybe
you might be willing to share that
information with us in this post.
Please
feel free to share your story on almost
any topic— including poor experiences with
purchases & orders, promotions/ offers,
in-store visits, transactions with store
associates, etc.
Not a vent.
ReplyDeleteI just read on my J.Crew CC that rewards were mailed out 7/3. Expect to receive it in 4-6 weeks.
New arrivals are up'
ReplyDeleteUnless I missed something, giving the new arrivals as a whole a sideways thumb and a "meh"! Maybe I just need to look again...there has to be something!
ReplyDeleteOn another note, did anyone's Signet bag come with a dust bag? Or was it just mine that was missing? Thanks and good luck with the new arrivals because I am sure someone will find lots of love!
@Rashawnda, I bought my Signet bag in a B&M store last year and it didn't come with a dust bag. If I'm not mistaken, I don't think these bags come with dust bags, I think there was mention of that before by other JCAs.
DeleteNot seeing any loves (or even halfway likes) among the New Arrivals, but like you, I will look again! :-)
Mini roll outs are always a "meh" for me. I can't wait for the big roll out on the week of the 17th! Yay for pre-fall!
DeleteThanks on the Signet bag info! I see I am not the only one holding out for the next roll out. Please hurry JC, please, please.
Deletenew arrivals...whats up with the color block eyelet peplum sweater top. well a few too many trends on one top. looks like a home -ec project gone wrong.
ReplyDeletelack of updates to sale section... when 50% off
Right! It looks like a sweater project your grandmother's quilting club made. What were they thinking? It's like they want me to save my money.
DeleteI am not even fond of the colors that they used on those sweaters. Ugh! I do like the sequined Jackie cardi and shell, but they remind me too much of "back to school/fall" items so they were a def pass for me!!
DeleteAnyone buying the new rollout....figuratively and literally? Not me. Ugh.
ReplyDeleteI ordered the black embroidered jackie cardigan - with the 30% off and an additional 20% off coupon code I had, it was down to $45 or so, and I thought it might work with a lot of my stuff.
DeleteI also ordered a black no. 2 pencil skirt in cotton and an extra black perfect-fit t-shirt.
So 3 black things! A bit boring, but right now basics are good, and nothing else is appealing.
I would have picked up the new silk ruffle cami if it were a normal sleeveless top instead of cami. Making it a cami means I can't take off my top layer at work because it's too shoulder bearing for the office. Very little thought of the needs of women who work in corporate environments 5 days a week. Everything so casual/leisure heavy. How many gingham and plaid sundresses does a woman need?
DeleteI bit on the tennis t-shirt but that's it. Excited for the tigers in the August roll out :)
ReplyDeleteTigers? Have you seen a sneak peek of something?
Deleteyes jcrewismyfavstore posted some brookfield place items on her IG last week and we are getting more zoo animal prints. ...Because the monkeys sold so well last fall (not).
Delete@Alyssa - I called after seeing it on jcrewismyfavstore's instastories and they confirmed it was on the large roll out.
DeleteWow. I love big cats but that print is not subtle. And a horrible idea for a button down- who wants a placket-beheaded tiger front and center on their shirt???!
DeleteDidn't we just have the Drakes collab tiger print items? How many tiger print item does one need?
Deletealso the ratti monkey prints lingered on the sale racks and in the online sale section for months and months last fall/winter. As we also just had the giraffe print items (although that was a bit more subtle rather than just big giraffe bodies all over the place).
DeleteSorry huge tiger fan here... so quick answer is tons! ;)
Deletedoes the above blogger(Jcrewimyfavstore) work at Jcrew head quaters ? pic on instgram looked like JCREW office rather than store/?. she has the latest items ahead of time .
DeleteI do like her posts..just wondering. her posts are always positive..never negative..she is definitely a great marketing tool for J CREW. I wish i could shop her closet.
Breakfast with Tiffany- That is me with elephants so I understand!!! Overall I just wish they would do more paisley and fun geometric prints as I personally am not super into wearing critters.
DeleteJessF - 100%! I definitely miss the prints of days past
Delete@unknown no i don't think she works there, she is just super enthusiastic about the brand and has disposable income to spend on a lot of the items from each rollout. Pretty sure she lives on west coast and takes trips to NYC where she can visit different J.Crews and for NYFW. I think J.Crew obviously accommodates her with visits (i.e. personal stylists, NYFW), but can you blame them, she has to be their best customer?
DeleteTigers? It just keeps getting weirder.
DeleteYes! More geometric and florals and fewer critters!
DeleteCass. thanks for clearing that up. I wish I could afford collection pieces..or even items when they first roll out. I have to wait for sale. my size usually sell out quick. so I rely on pop backs. never get too many but have a few I love that were collection at super sale prices.
DeleteI like jcrewismynfavstore...but I really like INA (who does work in store) as I appreciate her effort andthe fact we do know she works for the company
m
my fav store
@unknown Thanks for the nice words!
DeleteI try to do honest reviews and share my favorites on my IG
and you are great at it..your effort is appreciated here 10X
Delete@inamack you are my inspiration on just about everything that I purchase!! Love ya girl!!
DeleteThank you so much @Jeannie!!!
Delete@cass -- she doesn't have disposable income. She is literally in bankruptcy proceedings. She purchases thousands and thousands and thousands of dollars of J. Crew clothing and shoes and then defaults on payments to other creditors. You can check the docket for the Eastern District of Kentucky and you will see she has filed for bankruptcy twice and is currently in bankruptcy proceedings. There is nothing to be envious of here. Getting oneself into serious financial trouble over any brand of clothing should not be a goal.
Deleteand every day for the past 2 weeks I've received promotional (sale! sale!) emails from West Elm.
ReplyDeleteThey added more items in the Pierre Frey pattern that so many of us liked in the scarf. I'm not looking for another caftan but I appreciate more stuff in that pattern. Cropped pant in shirting stripe - a week ago I overheard an SA telling a customer at the register that this has been super popular and selling out in lots of sizes. To me it looks like pajamas pants? Camilles in the rainbow gingham - looks like the colors would work for lots of outfits and totally appeals to my inner preppie.
ReplyDeleteI am tempted by the rainbow gingham dress but that is it. If there was free shipping I would bite. Other than that ready to see fall items. I went in to make a return yesterday and nothing was appealing. All the summer items I tried on were ill fitting or just were too ruffled and bowed up for my liking.
ReplyDeleteThere is free shipping, if you select to pick up in store.
DeleteProblem with that is my closest store is about 45 minutes away and in a direction where I need to make a special trip to get there. The ship to store option doesn't work well for me since they only hold the items for a week. I usually only get to the store once every 4-6 weeks to make returns from my on line orders. If I had a store closer to me I would use that option all the time.
DeleteI thought I'd seen JCrew do it's worse, but this mini roll out is so incredibly tacky. It's like a rainbow threw up.
ReplyDeleteHahaha. Most everything in it looks juvenile or at best uninspired.
DeleteThe Embroidered cotton Jackie cardigan sweater isn't bad, but the buttons pull on the model and I have seen them pull on another person who wore it. It ruins the look if they can't even construct the sweater to have it lay flat when closed, especially when there is embroidery highlighting that area.
ReplyDeleteTotally agree. I saw it on Ina and thought, why is the piping so squiggly? Then I saw it on the model and realized it's the stretchy fabric. Because if it pulls on that model, there's no hope for the rest of us.
DeleteI ordered the cardigan, so I will see how it looks. I never wear my Jackies buttoned, though, so I think I will be fine. I agree with Ina that it seems more fallish, but I'm always more attracted to fall things anyway.
Deleteagree...this mini rollout should have been scraped. it just makes me move on to other retailers.
DeleteStopped into crew and Madewell. Picked up a ship to store order. Store was very quiet and I didn't recognize one associate.
ReplyDeletePluses: scoopneck linen tanks online are a great price. Fit is perfect. They are slightly sheer as some reviewers noted but I tried with a nude cami bra and it was fine. (I do hope I have a bra that's low enough in the back.) I ordered the regent pants on sale for a great price. Returned the full price with promo purchase. I'm happy with the handful of items I've purchased this late spring/summer. I don't need anything else.
Negatives: Nothing new excited me. Nothing in the sale section excited me. I did try the silk cold shoulder top and it looked ridiculous on me.
Madewell, walked through and remembered an email regarding a gift...by the time I got to the front of the store I forgot and went home. Just realized it's a tote bag. I've placed orders, you'd think they'd send them out with an order. Not sure I'll get back before the July 9 end of the promo. Boo.
Here's a vent: No July "style guide"/catalog. I asked and they said there will be something in 2-3 weeks! Am I the only one who used to look forward to receiving these? Why are they ruining everything good about J.Crew?
ReplyDeleteI wish the "style guide" was electronic. I look forward to thumbing through the pages of the upcoming guide. However, I opted not to be on the distribution list, as I don't like wasting trees. So, I wait to visit a store to look through the guide.
Delete@carmelfor02 - J.Crew is on Pinterest.
Delete@The American Observer-July catalogs have been always super thin, like January. So given their $$ cutbacks, I read that they'll scale back on their catalogs. Maybe that's why July was not printed.
I really like the catalogs and I used to keep a lot of them, just to compare year-to-year (yes, I have been obsessed with JC for a long time). But when I do dispose of the catalogs, I am not wasting trees as we recycle. I don't care to receive most catalogs, but when I do, I always recycle all of them. That said, I like to see the J.Crew one because I think their new website is terrible and doesn't do a good job of showing the clothes and how they look on real people in real settings. They are cutting back on all of the wrong things, in my opinion.
DeleteNot a vent: I like the colors in the rainbow gingham print (especially in the dress and the Camille flats) and the Scoopback One-piece swimsuit. Also like the Colorblock Peplum sweater, but then I like things that are different.

ReplyDeleteIn case you want to refresh your memory about what to expect for Fall 2017...
ReplyDeleteAnd some throwbacks (early TBT) for fun -
DeleteFall 2016
Fall 2015
Fall 2014
Fall 2013
Fall 2012
Fall 2011
Fall 2010
Thanks, silver lining!
ReplyDeleteThanks Silver Lining - what a fun walk down memory lane! I see 2011 and 2012 filled with looks that seem put together and attainable. Looks that I could replicate. Looks that I could wear to work. And then it all gets a little too runway for my taste. I am not very optimistic for what is in store for us this fall.
DeleteI scored the Alpaca coat from 2012 in this look off ebay this past winter, NWT! http://www.vogue.com/fashion-shows/fall-2012-ready-to-wear/j-crew/slideshow/collection#2 Love it! There are still older treasures to be found...
DeleteThanks, silver lining! A delightful reminder of the days when I felt special wearing J Crew.
DeleteThe J.Crew site is down. This is the second time in two weeks that I've gotten the "Hmm, it seems we are unable to process your request" message when on their homepage! What is going on?

ReplyDeleteugh I wish I had paid more attention to online photos. I ordered the Jackie shell in lemon print and didn't realize until it arrived and I tried it on that the print is only on the front! The online description doesnt have a back photo and the side photo is partially blocked by the model's arms! I bought it to wear solo without the cardigan; now I feel forced to get the cardigan so I don't look weird with a party in the front and NOTHING in the back.
ReplyDeleteThat's terrible - why would they only print the front of the shell? The cardigans are printed all the way around!!!
DeleteHere's a vent: I bought the knotback tank and the Downtown Field jacket at full price at a J.Crew store on Friday. Now it's Monday and both items are 30% off, online only. I've written for a price adjustment but this sale isn't in stores so I wonder if they will give it to me. So sick of their business practices. What's my incentive for ever shopping at a store again?
ReplyDeleteTheir website is a nightmare now. I don't shop there anymore. Even if I wanted to, the photos pop up and cover the description and there's no 'add to cart' button to be found. There seems to be a trend with many web sites; their webmasters, in what seems to be an effort to justify their existence/salary, make sites impossibly complicated. Their business is to sell clothes, not to impress other webmasters.
