"Thanks!" to many of you, who let us know that J.Crew had an update to its website (click here to view online).
There are some new arrivals for men (click here) & women (click here). {wahoo!} It looks like Crewcuts (click here) has been updated, but not the J.Crew Collection (click here).
The OCTOBER catalog (click here
to view) is now available to view. However, the latest NOVEMBER catalog is not. (Check your mailbox as it is being sent via snail mail
to customers!)
J.Crew is also offering customers to take an additional 25% off SITEWIDE ($150+) with promo code SHOPNOW.
Yey! This code expires October 30, 2013. J.Crew is also offering free shipping with every order (no min!). This offer is for today only, and is automatically applied at checkout.
Okay, so after taking a long look through the new arrivals I can say that I am not too excited. Yes, there are a few embellished sweatshirts that look cute. However, I own my fair share at this point.
The issue is the categories I am normally super excited about this time of year (coats, blazers, skirts) are seriously lacking in my opinion. Skirts is such a skimpy category for Fall, so I am overlooking it for now. But blazers and coats? The only ones I am gravitating towards are the Collection pieces and those prices are too high. Where are the more reasonable Hacking Jackets?
Lastly, why are there so many items on the site that are for "pre-order"? Perhaps, J.Crew should be saving those items for the next roll out when they are actually available. Meh.
Sorry to be such a buzz kill about this roll-out. With all that said, I can't wait to see what the Holiday new arrivals bring from J.Crew. :)
What items are you most excited
about and why? Which items are you surprised (or not surprised) to
see? Which items did you hope would be included? Were you
expecting a bigger roll-out today? Also, did you receive the
latest catalog? :)
I will check out new arrivals in store today.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait!!!!
Ina, I would love to see a try on of the collection glow stripe jacquard pencil skirt if they have it at your store since they won't at my b&m. It was the one I ask you about on your catalog sneak peak. The sweater I want is preorder so they won't have that. Probably won't order either one but some sizing info would be great for future sale stalking:)
DeleteSorry Shipping Celle,i read your comment after i got home.
DeleteI will remember it for next time, because the store i am going to is becoming a collectionj store.
are you able to try on the collection handknit popcorn sweater? it's $650 and exempt from the current promo, so i hate myself for even thinking about it, but i'm so curious what it's like.
DeleteNext time i go,i will check for both your things.
DeleteNot sure when i will go though:)
I just posted this on another thread but I'm having trouble checking out since 5am, couldn't check out on my phone or ipad, haven't tried using a laptop yet but it still won't let me check out now it's almost 7:30am
ReplyDeleteCouture, I had a problem too. Log out of your account, then log back in. That fixed it for me. Hope that works!
DeleteShould add that my problem was on a laptop, didn't try a phone or ipad.
DeletePhone problems here. Keeps dumping my cart and redirecting me to main page again.
Delete:/
Thanks ladies, after 5 hours of trying I still can't check out (Cate - I was able to re-login to get to the final order review page but it is giving me some other account error), finally sent my list to my awesome online VPS and she put the order in for me, but what a big ol' PAIN IN THE ****
DeleteWhat a pain! Hopefully nothing you wanted got sold out while you were trying.
DeleteI'll be heading to my store as well, so should have some reviews soon!
ReplyDeleteThere were also some web updates -- they now have a new "quick look" pop-up for each product, which I like.
Anyone not able to check out?
Yes - log out of your account and log back in and see if that fixes it.
DeleteI was able to check out on Explorer, but Chrome was having issues on my computer. Anyway!
DeleteI found a number of great items. My favorites: Wool Flannel Tuxedo Dress (I missed out on the grey, but love the ivory even more!), Tipped Schoolboy, Bib Necklace Sweatshirt, Cashmere Tunic and Pocket Sweaters, Jaspe Tunic, Sperry Shearling-lined Flannel, New Balance in dusty beechwood, Wrap Pencil Skirt, Cashmere Infinity Scarf, Toothpick in velvet polka Dot, Colorblock Duffel Coat, Herringbone Topcoat.
I was surprised to see the Stadium Cloth Boulevard Trench back (don't recall seeing it in the catalog). I'm going to try the Deep Violet color, since I've been wanting a blue coat. I thought I'd want the peacoat or the Metro coat in the blues, but the SCBT is a favorite style of mine so I'm going to try that first.
ReplyDeleteI thought of trying the Convertible Toggle coat, but it is backordered and excluded from the promotion.
The fair isle leggings look great this year. I love that "Hthr Mineral" color in just about everything. The Collection Cashmere Pocket Sweater is back this year, love mine from last year.
There is a ton online that is not in the catalog.
I guess because of my climate... not much for me to love. I will purchase the Tuxedo suit because I have been looking for one.... shoes... meh.... jewelry... gaudy.... Few odds and ends, but overall, underwhelmed!
ReplyDeleteI didn't see much in this roll out, just a lot of the same in different colors or with different jewel collars which I haven't been interested in. I have high hopes for the next rollout though and a number of items from the fall (I'm talking about you scarf sweaters) have been re-stocked! I did love the catalog though, got it yesterday.
ReplyDeleteI did not see much that interested me. I was still hoping for a flair or sterling skirt.
ReplyDeleteMadewell also has new arrivals. I like some of their offerings. There are no new square storyteller scarves and I was really hoping for them.
I love the storyteller scarves, too. It's been a while since they've had any.
DeleteI think I may give the wrap skirt a try. I have plenty of pencil skirts and the wrap is a bit different, especially with the angled front panel. I'm undecided on the color. Wish it wasn't poly, though. I'll order and see if it feels like sandpaper, LOL!
ReplyDeleteI'm also interested in the wrap skirt and also undecided on the colour (and the poly definitely puts me off).
DeleteI was shocked to read that the wrap skirt is poly. What the heck? I can get poly skirts at Target, for $24.99, thank you very much!
DeleteVERY excited about the black studded penny loafer! Ordered this morning. Can't wait to get them! These will be in regular rotation in my closet for a long, long time.
ReplyDeleteThat shoe looks so great, I agree!!!
DeleteI didn't see much that I needed online, but maybe if I see it in person something will stick out to me. I do love the website changes, though.
ReplyDeleteI'm looking at a new coat - but have a question about thinsulate: I tried a thinsulate coat a number of years ago, and it was so *heavy*. Have they improved this, or do the thinsulate coats still have so much weight?
ReplyDeleteThanks
I also have an old JCrew coat with thinsulate. I did not find it heavy, but the lining shredded around the "seat" area after a short time. I read somewhere about other people having similar problems. I've avoided coats with thinsulate ever since. Is the shredding still happening?
DeleteReally liking the garnet plaid shirt, the cheers sweatshirt, the linen rose tee, and the gilded paisley offerings. I will have to check some of these out. This is the first rollout where I've liked numerous offerings in awhile.
ReplyDeleteThere are some cute pieces. I'm probably going to place a "fact-finding" order to see if the wool utility pants are just like the wool track pants that went down to $50 and to compare JC and MW military shirts. I think the girls' reversible capelet is cute minus the fur - thanks M, for mentioning to check out the girls' pieces last rollout.
ReplyDeleteI was really looking forward to the tuxedo bib sweatshirt but now that I see it has shoulder detail and a back yoke I'm no longer interested. Same with that duffle coat. IMO, there's just too much colorblocking in this rollout.
Truth be told, I'm hoping some of the things I missed out on last winter get resurrected at Factory. Save me a seat on the bus, Gigi!
Also, the stretchy toothpick jean (07076) is made of "cotton with power stretch". Is that like, Pajama Jeans?
Delete:)
Deleteyou always hit the nail on the head!
silver_lining - All aboard!! I'll shuttle us all there where the prices are palatable and they get the cut/fit right the 2nd time around.
DeleteYeah I've bought much more from factory this season than from retail. Count me in on that factory bus too!
DeleteMaybe I missed this before but I saw some wool rollneck sweaters in the men's section which I always loved and miss terribly. The main difference seems to be the lack of a rolled hem which was my favorite thing, maybe it will come back one day.
ReplyDeleteLove and cherish my roll neck sweaters from JCrew. I have an ivory and light blue. The quality of their sweaters used to be amazing/over the top GREAT!!!
DeleteI love my old men's lambswool roll-neck sweater, but I tried ordering one from the men's section last year and didn't care for the fit on me. They used to be a more generous fit at the hem, but now they taper at the waist in a way that doesn't flatter me.
DeleteWow - love some of the offerings this morning. Prices are a little high but I feel like these are good investments. My picks:
ReplyDelete1. Rylan blazer
2. Hughes satchel
3. Popover in Ratti geo
4.Twill flare dress
5. White flannel pants
Not digging the shoes at all. And the jewelry - oy. Crazy town.
Ditto for the Hughes satchel. It's definitely on my list. I have so few handbags because I'm so picky about them. I'm going to order the blue and hope it lives up to expectations.
DeleteOh and White full-length pants! Yes!
Although I can't seem to get the Collection draped pant out of my head. I wonder if you'd need to be built like a model to pull it off.
cousy, I love all your picks!
DeleteI agree that there are some really cute pieces this time around. On my list are the Collection topcoat in tweed, Open cardigan in indigo & heather graphite, as well as the Crinkle boy shirt in both red check & black check.
ReplyDeleteHas anyone noticed the new shipping options? I'm not really excited that the free shipping is smart post or whatever it is called where USPS delivers the package. I want my stuff! So I paid for standard shipping.
ReplyDeleteOh wow. I hate smart post. It takes FOREVER. It is the main reason I quit shopping at several retail stores b/c they use it. Disappointing to hear that.
DeleteOh my God! I'm going less and less to the store...I'm making enough de age online through my VPS, and I now there is a bunch if love for me in this new collection :-) going to the web now to check it out ;-) lol
ReplyDeleteI'm a bit disappointed that only the Stadium-cloth cocoon coat comes in that sumptuous Regal blue. I love the shape but I already have it in Dublin green. :(
ReplyDeleteThe Piamita Audrey top is singing to me but the whole 'wear your pj's out'' thing is really not me. It doesn't look too much like pj's though, right?
I think the Audrey top is fine - not too pajama-y. Go for it!
DeleteBut the Piamita Alexa and Isabella llama items are inexcusable IMO.
Lol! I didn't even notice that there were llamas on those two pieces since I was definitely not interested. Oh my! Lol
DeleteThe stadium boulevard trench comes in a deep violet blue-ish color.
Delete1. I am disappointed in the pant offerings specifically the lack of thicker weaves and lined wool pants. Last year I bought the herringbone wool cafe capris in all 3 colors and the gorgeous thick camel plaid. I also bought the navy tweed, and the collection graphic tweed. Even the silk/wool blend is great when it is lined and I bought the abstract diamond cafe capri and the collection graphic print pant. The only thing I really see this year is the Harris tweed pant for $398 but that is too $$$ I have not purchased a single pair of pants this fall. I don't even mind the crop pant for winter since I am 5'3" but these little silk pants they are showing aren't going to work when the temperatures plunge. I might as well wear paper.
ReplyDelete2. The 3 items I have been lusting for since fashion week are crazy $$$. I was already bummed out about the gorgeous tattersall pant at $288 but now I'm really mad about the other two pieces on my lust list. I want the collection glow stripe jacquard pencil skirt $395 and the matching Cashmere diamond sweater $348. Does anyone have $1000 I can borrow til payday:)
LOL!! I know exactly what you mean. I have been waiting for these two pieces and was totally bummed to see the prices.
DeleteI am liking a few things that I will have to see and touch in the store to pull the trigger like the Double-zip Sweater in black (sick of colorblock), the Stretch Wool Moto Jacket, the Stadium-cloth Cocoon Coat in green, the Eaton pant in pinot noir, the Kate Cami in paisley, the Secretary blouse and the Falsetto heels. But what does JCrew have against full length pants?! How long will this capri trend go on in the wintertime? Granted I have a few pairs for the fall but since I live in the NE there is no way I can wear those and not die of pneumonia.....And the jewelry is little cray cray.
ReplyDeleteI was hoping to see the Merci tee online.
ReplyDeleteI'm stopping in today to look at the navy foulard popover and the Fanned Leaf necklace. I haven't bought a piece of jewelry in such a long time. I just haven't liked the pieces, but the Fanned Leaf necklace has a vintage bakelite look and I really like that. I agree, not alot I see in the catalog....where are the nice wool skirts? And as usual I like the men's things much better than the women's. Go figure.
ReplyDeleteI tried the navy foulard popover and found it way to thin.
DeleteWill review it later.
I put in an order for the Houndstooth Chiffon Shirtdress, or whatever it is called. I think it might be just what I need for an upcoming trip. Other than that . . . I like the $400 Collection stained glass sweater. But not at $400! And I'm curious about that photo of the new bag. I haven't liked any of JCrew's bags in the past. But that looks sort of interesting and practical.
ReplyDeleteIndeed - where are the skirts? I really like JC's patterned pencil skirts, or non-patterned ones in cool colors, and would buy more if they carried them this season.
ReplyDeleteThe everyday and casual items in this rollout aren't that great. On the other hand, the Collection pieces are better than usual IMO.
Yes! Where are the pencil skirts?! They are the item I order most from JCrew. I have a gorgeous paisley one from a few years back and also a telegraph skirt in bright purple. The skirt offerings this season so far are pretty drab. Why? Why?
DeleteOverall, I'm incredibly underwhelmed and only one item has gone in my cart (the wrap pencil skirt - although all colours except black are already backordered?????). I've really been disappointed with J.Crew this year (although my wallet isn't).
ReplyDeleteI really like the tuxedo suit and may order that as I've been wanting one for years. The new Hughes satchel looks really functional, but I'm not sure about the zipper all the way around?? There is a jacket to go with printed tweed pants, but it isn't on the site yet - though is showed up on Pinterest yesterday. As usual-prices are inflated so whatever I order has to be prefect or it is going back.
ReplyDeleteLove new arrivals day! I always enjoy reading through everyone's observations and picks!
ReplyDeleteIs it just me or are the "Looks We Love" really meh this time around? There are some lovely new things that would've made much better outfits to feature!
Ruffles. I thought the same thing. Looks we love needs to be the most fab things they have to get us to buy not a bunch of basics we already have. Yawn.
DeleteAfter relooking at the items, I think that the new arrivals are really nice, but they aren't what I'm looking for. I need l/s basic sweaters that aren't there (and not for that much $). I'm also going for outdoorsy/warm flannels and the only things I'm looking at are the new excursion vest colors and some plaid that I know I can get cheaper at Eddie Bauer.
ReplyDeleteHowever, that Cate cami in iced lilac paisley is gorgeous.
Definitely check out the flannels and sweaters at Madewell. I was in a store last weekend and everything I touched felt so soft and thick- like it would actually keep me warm; better quality then J. Crew has now and more practical I think.
DeleteI also like the Darby Fabric Loafers. I can't decide if they're really cute or really ugly (I have this problem a lot lol).
ReplyDeletecate - I'm stripesick & I love the Darbys, but I decided I didn't like those. The colors are drab. If they'd chosen different colors, like maybe vibrant blues...?
DeleteWouldn't that be nice! I have the Darby bead-stitch loafers already so I don't need any more but I kind of like the drab fabric Darbys. I feel more comfortable in quiet colors. That's my excuse, in case I buy them :D
DeleteOff topic, but does anyone have any IRL pictures of the toggle coat in Navy? I tried on the black in store and liked it. I'm trying to decide between black and navy. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI love the Herrigbone Collection Top Coat! I really REALLY wish it wasn't $500! And its excluded from the 25% off promo. Of course! I also love the Crystal Button Earrings in Deep Rivera, the Crinkle boy shirt in Black Watch plaid, the Navy Foulard popover and printed airy wool scarf in burgundy. I really like the new burgundy Schoolboy blazer in tipped wool as well. I am a bit shopped out on blazers at the moment though, so it may not be in my purchasing future anytime soon. Overall I like the roll-outs this time around. But, I know the holiday stuff should be out early November so I may have to wait to make any major purchases! Love to hear everyone's reviews on the new items in the next couple of weeks!
ReplyDeleteI also love reading what JCAs like.
ReplyDeleteI rounded up things that caught my eye here.
I was hoping to see the burgundy/pink tipped blazer online that was in the catalog - but ooh, loving the Rylan blazer, just not the price. Ouch.
ReplyDeleteNot sure there's anything I have to have right now, I like the tie silk capri and box pleat skirt, both of which would be a disaster on me, so I'll just admire them for now...loving the white wool flannel collection pants and they way they're styled with the grey/silver.
I would have liked to see more work appropriate skirts and non-skinny capri pants, maybe some prints in pencil skirts/sterling skirt.
I was strangely drawn to the delphinium sweatshirt only to say...what the heck, $400 for a sweatshirt?!
I would love to see the falsetto silk print in a blouse or a different pair of shoes - looks interesting but those shoes aren't for me.
Those are my random ramblings...in summary, nothing I have to have, but I'll be interested to get in to the store and see it all in person which I'm sure will change my mind.
Oh! and definitel love the new quick shop option!!
The burgundy/pink blazer is online but not under new arrivals - It's in the schoolboy blazer section.
DeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteCan anyone comment about the warmth of the duffle coat? I bought a duffle coat in heather acorn, but went into the store today and tried the stadium cloth cocoon coat and it seemed MUCH warmer. Will I be cold during NYC winters? The last J.Crew coat I had was a the 2011 Elements coat which was stadium cloth...just want to know if I'll freeze in the duffle coat!
ReplyDeleteI think last year's duffel coat is much warmer than the elements coat.
DeleteI received the Convertible Duffle Coat yesterday in the gray color. Agree w Cate ... I think it will be warmer than the Elements Coat.
DeleteThe only thing I wanted to try immediately was the girls long sleeve skating rink tee. I like the long sleeves and black and white print. I'm always drawn to the botanical/floral tees, but I can't ever get a cardi or jacket that looks right. They look great in polyvore sets but in real life, brights always seem to compete with the tee print and most neutrals look too blah. I figure black and white with hints of red and silver, I can handle.
ReplyDeleteOf new arrivals, loving the iced lilac paisley tee, but the neckline looks like it's ridiculously plunging. Ditto for comments on the dearth of full length pants and skirts that are suitable for work.
It's a low scoop on the cate cami and I thought it was going to be too low to wear, but when I tried it on I thought it was fine. That was just with a quick try-on though. Hope others can give an opinion in case my memory isn't right.
DeleteDoes anyone else find it hilarious that JC chose the angry model for the Maison LaBiche "I love you" tee? Is this an attempt at irony?
ReplyDeletehttp://www.jcrew.com/womens_feature/NewArrivals/knitsandtees/PRDOVR~A0627/A0627.jsp
Ha! Raggedy Ann does that look so much better.
DeleteI am not a fan of that model. She scared me away from the bar-stripe tee!
I didn't notice that, but you're right-not a welcoming expression to match the sentiment of the tee.
Deletethanks, cousy, and now I have to go wipe the remains of my very late lunch from the desk. So much for multitasking.
DeleteI think it's mainly that she has what my kids used to call "angry eyebrows."
DeleteHas anyone seen the stadium cloth duffle coat in heather graphite in store? CS is trying to tell me it isn't currently offered in stores. TIA!
ReplyDeleteso i ordered the Medallion tie-silk skirt item 07477... i love all the silk prints they do but i can't pull off the capri pants and haven't had much luck with the other skirt versions. i'm hoping the little pleat in the front helps make it look a little more A-line on me. (a little OT, but i asked CS about the length of this skirt when i saw it on pinterest. they said 19" but the site says 17.5"... assuming the shorter length is the correct length... annoying)
ReplyDeleteI sort of love the leather-front Pixie pants. They seem like they'd be a lot better than the full leather leggings, which would probably stretch out too much. Am I crazy?
ReplyDeleteCaille - I bought the leather-front pixie pants from the last roll-out and I like it way better then my other full leather leggings (non-JC). I find that the pixie ponte "holds" everything in better, if you know what i mean =)
DeleteI do and now I'm even more tempted ;) They need to go to sale, quick!
DeleteActually if you're still around, Couture, I'd love to know what kind of shoe/boot you wear with these! Thanks!
DeleteReview of the Double zip sweater in colorblock, the popover in navy foulard and geo ratti print, the vintage sweatshirt in cheers, the bibneclace sweatshirt, jaspe sweatshirt and the crinkle boyshirt in black on my blog here.
ReplyDeleteand also a review of the mixed prints tee,
DeleteAside from my frustrating checkout issues this morning, I did manage to put a fairly large order through, mostly outerwear I want to try on.
ReplyDeleteAnd I absolutely don't mean to offend anyone who loves the jeweled sweatshirt/sweater, but I am soooooooo over them. There are at least 3-4 versions of the jeweled top in the last 3 roll-out, and believe me I love me some blings and bedazzles and I never thought I'd get sick of them but JCREW manage to just do that.
This reminds me of the ruffles-you-to-death roll-out a few years ago when everything has ruffles.
I agree Couture,I thought the same thing when I tried all the jeweled sweatshirts today.
DeleteThat are not special if they do a thousand of them.
Plus even Old Navy has them now,so that takes part of the fun out for me.
Whoa, did anyone see the description on the cashmere popcorn sweater (08441)? "We recommend folding (never hanging) and storing in tissue paper." Kid gloves sold separately.
Deleteoh gosh, I love the new website and the "quick look" feature!
ReplyDeleteMy lust list:
Collection Wool Flannel Tuxedo Dress
Collection Guilded Paisley Skirt
Contrast Collar Top Coat
Collection Herringbone Top Coat in Irish Wool
Valentina Mirror Metallic Pumps
My wish list:
I like that the Merino Embroidered Lace Sweater now comes in a lovely blush pink and that the Fluted Skirt in Double Crepe now comes in Navy. May stop by the store later tonight to get these and pick up some Marled Henleys in more colors for the husband.
Dmitri - I think the apricot mist colorway for the lace sweater came out along the last roll-out, but it was on back-order. Anyway, I just received it yesterday and I think the online pic is misleading....I am pretty sure the one I got was more on the beige/ivory side rather then blush pink. It is still a lovely color but I was kinda hoping for a more nude pink also.
Deleteoh bummer! i had no idea it was part of the last rollout and definitely didn't see it in any stores, so your review is very helpful, thanks :)
DeleteI have a few items in the "Apricot Mist" color and I think it is intended to be a nude or flesh tone (for some people anyway).
DeleteStopped in to look around and as someone mentioned, sure enough, the navy foulard popover is a sheer poly feeling fabric. I just don't understand this. Foulard says cooler weather (IMO) so why the sheer fabric? Anyway, also took a look at the Fanned Leaf necklace which actually looks like feathers to me. Like it, but not enough to get today. Even with 25% off....I'm hoping to pick it up for under a hundred! Didn't see anything else that I wanted to try on....but that's how I've felt for quite a few roll outs. That's fine...I spent a bundle at Pottery Barn!
ReplyDeleteHopefully it's just a bug with the new website, but right now free shipping is not applied to orders shipped to Hawaii. I only had the option to select UPS 2nd Day Air for $8 (in the past J Crew has sent stuff via USPS for the standard shipping cost/free shipping if over $175). I had to place my order over the phone to get the standard USPS free shipping option.
ReplyDeleteI have a weakness for hooded bottle green coats, and so I am very interested in the colorblock duffle coat in green (though I'm curious about IRL shade of the green, it may be a bit lighter than I would like). I think it would be good for fall but probably not warm enough for winter (what happened to optional Thinsulate?) I also like the long open lambswool cardigan (I like that it's 100% lambswool).
ReplyDeleteSo many lovely things! I promised myself I would wait for my rewards card. I am hoping they arrive soon. Past JCA posts about holiday rewards are dated Oct 24 and Oct 28.
ReplyDeleteMy vps told me they will be shipped the first week of November! We should have them by the second week of nov
DeleteBummer. I was hoping we'd get them while the 25% promo was still ongoing.
DeleteOff topic -- is anyone who lives near the Arden NC JC Clearance store willing to purchase an item for me and ship it to me? I will PayPal the cost plus shipping to California to you ASAP. They're holding the item. kriscrew5519 at gmail dot com Thanks for reading!
ReplyDeleteI ordered the Collection Flannel Tuxedo Dress and the Pleated Stretch Flannel Dress. I absolutely love Jcrew Suiting/Wool Dresses. I wear them to work almost every day.
ReplyDeleteMy Like List:
Jaspe Tunic
Tuxedo Bib Sweatshirt
Houndstooth Chiffon Shirtdress
Color Block Silk Folard Blouse.
I can wait for a sale on all my "Likes". I really do not need ANYTHING!
Although would it kill Jcrew to make the minnie in navy? Maybe they did and I missed it.
The twill minnie is available in navy. I'm wishing they would do the olive color in twill - I find the wool minnies too thin.
DeleteI agree, Alexis. I am underwhelmed with this roll-out, too. If anything I only like 2 items, and of course the Collection...but can't afford that. Nothing is screaming OMG for me, like it used to before...oh well, I'll be looking forward to the Holiday Style Guide.
ReplyDeleteSorry to be late to the party, I am having troubles commenting these days.Nothing is screaming "Buy me right now" at me but I typically like things better when I see them in store. I like the crinkle boy shirt in blackwatch and I am vaguely interested in the open cardigan if it doesn't overwhelms me (but not fp). I also like the gilded paisley cami but it is cold outside! I was happy to see the velvet toothpicks in new colors as I have both the navy and the mauve blush from last year. NOT loving the jewelry except for the tassell necklace.
ReplyDeleteI must have the tipped schoolboy in the burgundy/pink, but I can wait for sale.
ReplyDeleteI am also annoyed at the lack of real pants. I am glad I have a boatload of J.Crew wool pants from 2004-2008. All fully lined. Lots of cute tweed, houndstooth, etc. Actually warm and work appropriate. C'mon J.Crew!
The cate cami in iced lilac paisley is gorgeous, but silk georgette = way too delicate. Maybe on sale!
As kitsmommy mentioned yesterday, Madewell also added new arrivals to their website, and there are a lot of new promo-priced items now, too. They are also offering free shipping on all orders. I've updated the Madewell Promo-Priced Items list which can be seen here. :)
ReplyDeleteHas anyone seen or tried on Colorblock silk foulard blouse Item item 07559? Any information would be appreciated. TIA
ReplyDeleteHad to order the Collection quilted satin popover in merlot-hope it's as gorgeous in person. The merlot color in everything is calling my name-Tippi, pencil skirt, Hughes satchel.
ReplyDeleteBetter late than never...my favorites:
ReplyDelete*Hughes satchel in leather. Love! It looks super lux and expensive. I love all the colors. I don't need it and usually prefer bags I can put over my shoulder but not cross body or single long strap (I haven't seen it in person but the handles look too short for that). I will probably admire from a far unless it goes on deep sale with promo
*Glen plaid schoolboy. Love me some plaid and love me a schoolboy. Don't need it though. A contender for this promo but not decided yet. Don't like that it's back ordered. Has anyone seen it in stores?
*Stretch and boucle moto jackets. Both look super cute. But ouch, 200+? Loft had comparable offerings for less than 1/2.
I like a lot if the coats but sheesh they are so expensive and way too many color blocking options. I was never a huge fan of the color blocking trend to begin with and certainly not for an investment piece. I would consider the short color block toggle jacket if it came in solid colors.
I love reading JCA picks and can't wait to hear what folks end up getting and loving (or hating).
I agree with Alexis and others who are disappointed in the skirts and blazers. I'm always hoping for some lovely options in skirts not minis especially for fall.
ReplyDeleteI do like the collection wool tuxedo dress (although too pricey in cdn $ for me); the garnet flame plaid shirt; tweed sleeve tee. I love the look of the eaton boy trouser in the burgundy but know they won't work on me. Like others have said we really need some more full length pants offerings. Love the huges satchel.
Am hoping for some skirts that aren't too short or too expensive (collection) in the holiday rollout.
Ok, a bit late, but I posted my thoughts and observations here.
ReplyDeleteAnd a few more questions and concerns:
ReplyDelete- What's with the narrow, exposing cut on the Cate Cami, Cutaway Crepe Dress, and Collection Twill Flare dress? I get that they're going for some aesthetic effect (but what, exactly?), but it kind of looks like they're just cutting materials costs or something. The narrow shoulders and/or thin straps just make one's shoulders look broad/fleshy, and that's not something I need with my wide shoulders. Why doesn't J.Crew ever do fitted, figure-flattering woven tops? Also, the drape and the neckline of the Cate make the models looks completely flat-chested. And I just find its simplistic shape uncreative, I guess.
- Love the Iced Lilac Paisley and wish it came in some other silhouettes, though.
- Same with the Stained Glass. Too bad no adult-wearable Girls' pieces in either of these patterns (Copper Bloom shorts turned out to be a go!).
- Glad to see the Toothpick Jean in Velvet back. Why not more colors? The two offered seem kind of dull, though maybe the mutedness of the green will turn out to be subtly delicious. Good thing Factory has the pink color.
- Accessories have been really blah lately.
- What the hey is up with the jewelry?? I feel like the agglomerative designs of the past half-year to year or so just seem like an unsophisticated attempt to mimic some Lulu Frost by gluing random discordant pieces together. Did they lose a jewelry designer from the past or something? I always wonder this when a retailer suddenly starts making no sense in some aspect.
- Need more reasonably priced, everyday, non-Collection items that are still interesting and not basics.
I don't think they offered the Matchstick velvet jeans this year. I'm glad I bought them last year, Toothpicks don't work for me at all.
