Hi ladies! After looking through the new arrivals, I've concluded there's nothing my closet truly needs. We'll see if I change my mind when things hit sale.
ReplyDeleteHowever, there is one irrational want: the Fair Isle Leggings in navy/green. They're my favorite colors & they just look so cozy. But realistically I wonder if I would ever wear them outside my house. And $98 is WAY too much for me to spend on loungewear. Do any of you have similar leggings from previous roll outs or years? Are they as comfy as they look? And how did you style them? Obvs not for the office, but any casual or weekend suggestions? Or do I just need to keep talking myself out of them?

I have the ones from last year! I thought that I would style with them with chambray or a casual sweater/sweatshirt but they look too much like pajamas to wear outside of the house
DeleteIf you think the leggings are too much pattern, the wool racing-stripe track pants are a great alternative. In stores they were 40% off. I reviewed them here.
DeleteI wear them xcountry skiing (with a down jacket and lightweight wool sweater and I feel so bright and nordic) and downhill skiing (with ski pants on top). It's nice to take ski pants off after downhill and have cheery merino leggings for sitting by a fire. I also wear them under a skirt with a wool sweater on top and ankle boots.
DeleteI love them too, but I would NEVER spend that much on pants to lounge around the house. I was searching for cheap knockoffs on the internets last night, to no avail.
DeleteLast year, Lands End Canvas had similar leggings that were reviewed well and a little cheaper. Maybe they'll have them again soon?
DeleteThanks for all of your responses. I avoided an impulse purchase and for now, am content to shop around & see what else is out there. However, I have to admit to loving LTee's comment! It perfectly described exactly how I would want to wear the leggings! Sadly, even though I live in Utah (aka the greatest snow on earth) I've only skied once. :(

DeletePosted this under new arrivals but this is the better place for it -- anyone who has the leather-front Pixie pants or the Pixies with the inner leather trim (like jodhpurs), which shoes/boots are you wearing with them?
ReplyDeleteI got the ones with the inner leather trim but it hasn't been cold enough to wear them yet. I see them styled with ankle booties with heels or no heels, or with flat shoes such as oxfords or loafers. J. Crew's Aggie or Martie boots would work quite nicely, I think.

DeleteJ Crew Factory - SALE30 gets 30% off sitewide. I recvd the optical lace top yesterday. The black & creme pop together. They're not faded. The lace print is pretty. I'm not sure it's for me, though. I didn't like how it looked under the suit jacket I tried it with. I didn't get the feeling I did with the hothouse print blouse (review).

Sara - I have last years version And they are nice. But check out roots.com - they have a similar pair which are cheaper, just as lovely and not quite as thick. I find mine too heavy to wear under other things (ie skirts) easily. HTH

ReplyDeleteFor the former, I have thought of the usual suspects - jeans, black, grey, brown trousers or skirts. Other colour combinations?
As for the kikis - I think black, grey bottoms or jeans. Other ideas?
For the verdigris...Navy. I would also try cream or a light pink (maybe too easter egg but give it a go in your closet)
DeleteKikis - Bit hard to tell but red/wine, cream/winter white. These shoes will really brighten ones spirits and I do see them as year rounders.
I think the verdigris cashmere T would look nice with navy and camel/ivory, or maybe the right gray or taupe. Go across the color wheel for a red/berry accent. A scarf with one of those colors might be nice with it. As much as I like it, I think this is a difficult color to coordinate. Would your ivory moto cardigan be too heavy over this sweater?

(Tho pack green does look suspiciously like green bay packers green . . . ). Trying to figure out if either color would work with my mostly blue/navy/black wardrobe. TIA!

I need help styling my excursion vest. It's navy, so I know that it'll go with a lot of different colors, but I was wondering if it would look dumb with skirts. I've only worn it with l/s shirts/sweaters and jeans with boots.
ReplyDeleteI have worn mine with pencil skirts. A pencil skirt and a gingham top sleeves rolled up...I think you could easily wear it with more of a mini skirt with tights and boots (I don't do mini skirts but think it would look cute)...you could also switch up the color pants and shoes or wear it with leggings with a longer tunic/shirt. I like to wear mine open with a scarf to add some color...especially if the rest of my outfit is pretty neutral. Hope that helps!
DeleteThis is a bit off topic but has any one tried the Field riding boot? I am looking for a classic, sleek black riding boot. The boot looks quite wide in the ankles on the model in the Nov style guide. I fairly skinny ankles so am concerned that the fit may be bulky.

DeleteI have purchased the everly jeweled pump...so undecided whether to keep or return. They are cute, but not sure if they are just too much (glitter and jewelry); and how to combine. Was thinking would look best with capri pants in uni color with simple uni color tops; maybe a skirt or dress but all plain colors to let shoes standout, maybe? Help please!
