This is the weekly "Other JCrew-like Retailers" post (similar to the "Off On A Tangent"
posts), where we can share our finds from other
retailers that have offerings similar to J.Crew
(like Anthropologie, LE Canvas, Gap, BR, Talbots, Ann
Taylor, and the like.)
If you
have recently encountered items that are similar to
J.Crew, maybe you might be
willing to share that information with us
in this post.
Please feel
free to share your story on almost any topic—
including experiences with certain merchandise pieces,

Banana has 30% off full price online and 40% in the stores today
ReplyDeleteHas anyone seen the Kate Spade suzette coat in a 2 4 or 6?? I've been trying so hard to find it!
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone know if Anthro is still running a promo on sale items or has that ended? I recently bought some fabulous pieces both online and in-store and just spotted a few more in the sale section that I'd like to order. On that note, I've become a huge fan of Anthro's blazers in the last month or so - I like that they're a little edgy, I LOVE that they all seem to be fully lined, and I also love that the starting price points are in the $168 range which I find totally reasonable. I picked up the Moretown jacket for around $60 a couple months ago (still in the sale section, presumably because of fit issues as per the reviews) and I am absolutely in love with it! I'm very straight bodied so it fits me perfectly, and it compliments my mainly-J.Crew wardrobe so well! Yesterday I paired it with a perfect fit tank in a maroon color and a wool No. 2 pencil skirt in camel with some camel knee high boots (Jimmy Choo courtesy of eBay) and I felt so polished and well-styled! I used to avoid Anthro because I felt their starting price points were too high, but given the extent to which JC's prices have increased over the past several years, I now find Anthro's prices a lot more competitive.
ReplyDeleteThe extra 25% sale items ended, but the trend is to have one during December around Xmas. If you can hold off, or rather, I would pick up the items and hope for a price adjustment within 14 days. Unlike the Crew, Anthro has the most wonderful price adjustment policy.
DeleteI was hoping there would be another sale around the corner! Many thanks for the helpful info and for letting me know about their price adjustment policy!
DeleteSome J Crew-like jewelry items on a budget here. I hope these finds help!
ReplyDeleteThanks to the JCA who posted about the LE down parkas. Mine arrived last week and I love it! We've had extremely cold weather here (-2F) and I'm toasty in the coat. Was $50 all in and lifetime guarantee! Can't beat that.
ReplyDeleteHope no one will mind a question about Ralph Lauren Rugby here.
ReplyDeleteAs some of you know, Rugby will be shutting down entirely in February. No kidding, I felt absolutely devastated when I heard the news. Since 2008, I've bought almost 90% of my clothes there especially when I realized that the quality was very comparable to the RL Blue Label and pre-2008 J. Crew: lots of wool/alpaca, wool/cashmere and wool/angora mixes for considerably less. Great craftsmanship too. Teamed with my RL Collection shoes and accessories, my Rugby jackets, coats, and sweaters make me feel like a million bucks.
I suppose I could return to Blue Label, but I know I will feel "ripped off."
Lauren, which is most similar in price to Rugby, just does not do it for me as it's always struck me as dowdy and not very well made. Denim and Supply does not do it either as it shares similar quality issues. And Club Monaco just isn't my style.
The closest alternative I've found so far is Jack Wills. Their jackets look elegant, yet up-to-date. Does anyone know if the sizes are similar? It's confusing because it's a British brand which run numerically higher (i.e., a US 6 = UK 10 or even 12).
Ann Taylor Loft has a pretty nice lined (!) wool pant on promotion for $35. The Marisa straight leg pant in flat wool twill. Plus it's not cropped, so it's a nice alternative to the Jcrew wool cafe capri for colder months. Bought the red and waiting for the navy to go on sale.
ReplyDeleteAnthro - MERRYMERRY for $25 off every $100. Promo also good in-stores. Ends Sun, 12/16.
ReplyDeleteLand's End has 30% off everything, once again. Discovered the Ashby suede heels (look like Monas but with slightly lower heel) in the "Not Quite Perfect" section for $39.99. I previously ordered the regular ones but returned because the 11 was just too big. I re-ordered these NQP ones in 10 and 11, just to see if I can possibly make them work. If not, back they go, but they are lovely shoes and the price is unbeatable. The leopard ones are also in the NQP section.
ReplyDeleteJust noticed that Land's End Canvas has velvet skinnies and they are on sale for $39 today. And you get 30% off on top of that.
DeleteAlso, you can return Land's End to any Sears store that sells it. That's what I do; it's painless and costs me nothing.
Thanks for the heads up! Going to check these out!

ReplyDeleteCan anyone comment on the fit of Jack Wills crew neck sweaters? I think I might snag that pheasant sweater (so cute!), but I have no idea how they run. Tippi- like? bigger? TIA! BTW-I wear a 2 in JC shirts, but take a S in Tippis because I don't like things to be too waist conscious.
