This is the weekly "Help Style Me!" post, where we can share items we are having trouble putting outfits together with. Elaine (in this
post) says it best, "You know, that thing you
bought because you love it and you keep pulling it
out and then putting it away without wearing it?"
Please
share your J.Crew item (either that you own or
are thinking about getting) that you would love help
creating an outfit with.
Also,
please help out by offering your styling advice. Feel
free to include links to your blog (where you
incorporated that piece) or to Polyvore (where you
showcased an outfit with that piece). Thanks in advance!
:)
OT - I updated the In-Store Price Guide with 3 new markdowns:
ReplyDelete* iced lilac cafe capri in wool - $29.99
* Nicky top in heringbone - $49.99
* Tippi sweater in iced lilac - $39.99, now matching online price
Those are the three I'm certain I saw & can remember. Did *not* see reduced prices on items I was sure would go down like the Invitation clutch in sequin, shawl collar striped sweatshirt... Will examine tags again when I visit store. It's too bad the tag info is unreliable. There are probably markdown that we have yet to discover.
Those of you who have the Hacking Jacket in sheer mint--how have you styled it? Can it be both dressed down and seasonally appropriate?
ReplyDeleteI'm 5'2" and would order the petite size for the sleeve length, but I have a longish (non-petite-length) torso with undefined waist. I would probably size up to a 4P (I normally take 0 or 2P) so that I could layer and wear the blazer as outerwear in the spring... if I decide to order it before 3PM, that is.
I tried the Hacking Jacket in sheer mint with a pair of ivory cords and an ivory cashmere cowlneck sweater and Martina wedges in black/white. I'm sure it would fine with brown boots though. I thought this outfit was seasonally appropriate but then again I don't really care about seasonally appropriate colors...
DeleteWhat goes with the Telegraph Pencil Skirt in Landscape Green? Besides a couple of plaid shirts, that is! thank you for any ideas.
ReplyDeleteI love to use that green in "frosty woodland" color schemes with aqua/mint/silvery tones.
DeleteCashmere turtleneck in nightfall blue. Silk shirt in nightfall blue. Before you search, J did not make either of these items in the beautiful nightfall. Next best might be the collection luxe silk shirt in navy or a black cashmere turtleneck. I love that skirt and love the catalog shot of that skirt in blue with a blue shirt. Understated elegance.
DeleteDress it up with a navy/blue/white/dark purple/navy or black stripes silk shirt or top or dress it down with chambray. Tippis or turtlenecks also work.
DeleteOn W2WW today, we used the J. Crew Polka-dot jacquard sateen-twill skirt, the knotted bracelet, the 'Wild Side' wide bangle, and the pearl twisted hammock necklace to style looks for 'Hosting the Holidays'. Check out the looks here at What 2 Where When:

WFF, here's my stream of consciousness ideas for the green telegraph skirt. A black/white print blouse - like the heart throb, or a stripe - with black pumps; a white turtleneck, tweed jacket, cognac boots; burgundy cashmere sweater and leopard pumps. Chambray shirts go with everything, and are a great way to dress down a pencil skirt.
ReplyDeleteThis is a little silly, but I'm not sure how to wear my vachetta belt (item 18811) in butterscotch. I know, it's just a belt, but the color is throwing me.
ReplyDeleteToday I bit on the no. 2 pencil skirt in metallic floral (green tinsel). So beautiful! I should have asked before ordering, but does anyone have a review of this skirt? Also, other than a black blouse or sweater, does anyone have styling ideas? Thanks!
ReplyDeleteA SA told me she was going to wear the skirt with the crazy lady sweater (la parisienne?) if you remember that (it is sold out online). Not for everyone, of course, but I thought it was fabulously creative & fun.
DeleteKLlovestoshop, I just styled the skirt: http://everydaymusingsetm.blogspot.com/2012/12/j-crew-metallic-floral-skirt.html. I love that shade of green and I'm sure it will work with a variety of colors.
Deletehi-- does anyone have the madewell fairbanks parka in black? can anyone review? thanks so much!
ReplyDeleteConster, I tried it on my last trip and it is quite fitted in the shoulders. I sized up to a M from S as I have broader shoulders. HTH It's a great jacket.
Deletethanks, Rose -- I may have to get it before the 30% promo at Mdwl ends.
DeleteMerry Christmas!
kiwigem, yippee, rose, Desert Flower, thank you all for your great suggestions!
ReplyDeleteHi all, I just bought the sequin dot top in black and it's totally outside of my comfort zone but I love it! I want to wear it for NYE to a nice dinner with the hubby - any suggestions on what to pair it with that would be dressy (no jeans)?
ReplyDeleteBlack velvet pants would look very dressy. I would add the ivory tipped pea coat on top. HTH !
DeleteSounds very cute, thank you!
DeleteI love the winter white wide leg crepe pants by Ann Taylor and sky high red heels (my choice is Stuart Weitzman Bowtie). Reviewed both on my blog. I got the sequin dot top to go with but just couldn't pull it off. Instead wearing black cashmere tee and very bold necklace.
ReplyDeleteI got the sequin stripe tee in vintage champagne and was looking for suggestions how to style it. I have the schoolboy blazers in the festival blue and orange/red but was wondering what else i could layer it with. Thx!
ReplyDeleteA black blazer or coat ?
DeleteDo you have room to layer it over something, if you're feeling a little funkier? Might be fun over a blouse.
DeleteDoes anyone know if the old and new icon trench fits compare?
ReplyDeleteRather, how they compare. I am expecting an "old" icon in the mail soon. I have a "new" icon on backorder. Just wondering what to expect.
