Sought & Found: Did you visit J.Crew this {past} Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopped by a J.Crew store this past weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store was/ is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

  1. I received two J crew emails this morning. The US promo is 30% off and the Canadian (international) promo is 20% off. How insulting! Canadian prices are already ridiculously inflated, and we can't even get the same percentage off? I'm refusing to buy anything.

    2. I'm in the U.S. but I noticed one code for 20% off and one for 30% off that ran on the top banner. I thought maybe this was a different percent for cardholders or something. Did you try the 30% off code for the Canadian checkout? Nothing I want anyway, but maybe you can still get 30% off in Canada.

    3. Not impressed at all. I tried the 30% off just to see if it worked, but it didn't, only the 20% code worked. I hope this isn't a the beginning of a trend.

    4. That's interesting because at 5:30ish this morning the main banner read 30% off with code Happyspring but when I went to the item itself it said 20% off with code Hispring and I was super confused. I did apply the 30% off code at checkout and it worked then.

    5. A while ago (months) we saw diff cdn promos. I hope we aren't going back to that.

    6. This is the response I received from CS - can anyone explain it to me?

The reasoning that the promotions differ between US & Canada is because we have some items in the US that aren’t able to be shipped internationally. This limits the number of items offered to our international customers, so the promotion will sometimes be less. The duties and taxes included in international orders also cause a difference in the promotions. There are some times where the Canada promotion is of a higher percentage than that of the US promotion, as well as the promotions being the same due to these reasons.

    7. A) I don't ever recall seeing a higher promotions for Canadians
      B) Why would the inability to ship some items to us translate to a lower discount?
      C) I appreciate the fact that JCrew covers duties for Canadians, something no other retailer does (that I know of), but if it's going to mean lower discounts, then that sort of negates any incentive I might have to buy.

So....none of that really makes any sense to me either!

    8. @Kitkat-cda I'm not buying that lame excuse. If they charge us more to cover duties and taxes why not keep the promo the same. Instead they will charge us more then offer a lesser promo.

As Canadians I know we are known for being polite, saying 'sorry' far too easily, but now they want us to take a subpar promo too? Mmmm .. pass.

  2. Factory has 30% off and free shipping, but they raised prices to nearly full price for everything. They must think we are really clueless.

    3. (Edited because I thought they had extra 30 off today but it is really prices as marked...)
Yes, this is their standard practice and it is beyond annoying. Basically you must know the bottom price for every item and only buy when it gets there - I'm sure they lose sales from me because of it. I also have had a price adjustment on basically every order I've placed in the last year for one item or another. Examples: last week using the Gilt promo, I bought two pairs of the Anya flats for $35. Today they are $85. Got the ruffle sleeves tee for $17, today it is $40.50. I will only buy when it is a 50% promo or when there is a Gilt code. Otherwise... you'll see the item for less within weeks. Nothing has ever sold out before I could buy it.

    4. @Heather - you are so exactly right. The factory store by me today was 50% off everything. Their games are getting more and more ridiculous. I read once that there was a lawsuit filed by a customer once about the whiplash price changes, but I have no idea what the result was.

  3. pricing games are getting more often and...yes are insulting to loyal customers.

  5. I stopped by this weekend (Sunday) to return both items from a recent order. The store opened at 11; by 10:56, there four of us waiting at the door, all with returns. None of us bothered to look around before or after our returns.
After my return, I was given a $20 off $100 coupon to use for in-store only.

On an unrelated note - anyone know what's happening with the Prince Street location in NYC? It's not my usual store but I was in the neighborhood running errands. From the inside they have walled off the shoe/accessories area on the street level, and from the outside the windows/door are papered up.

    1. I have asked recently at (Vancouver) my stores. they say they don not have any "bounce back" cards. luck you got one...now to see if you can use it. I believe they do have a expire date.

    2. Re: prince street store, I think they are giving up that side retail space back to the landlord and keeping the store slightly smaller. They have moved the shoe section to downstairs and the jewelry scattered around the store.

    3. The Prince St. store's shoe section was largely populated by bored-looking men lounging on the couch anyway.

  6. Not sure if anyone mentioned this yet, but I was in a Chicago J.Crew today (Michigan Ave) and they are having a 30% off everything sale. I was there to pick up an online order (just a tee) but looked around. Even with the sale, I didn't see anything I was really interested in.
