Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  1. For TM93 - Review of the Puckered Gingham Blazer and Cigarette Gingham Pant

Blazer in P4 - I'm consistently a P4 in both Schoolboy and Regent, and this was snug around my upper back (weird). Buttoning the front was a little tight. Sleeve and body length were fine. The lining is poly, in a solid white color. I really like the weight, and puckered feel of the fabric. All petite sizing is sold out. I hope a P6 pops up, so I can try that size. I like the jacket enough to want to keep it. It's a nice spring jacket!

Pant in size 0 and 2 - I wish this was made in petite. A 0 fits all over except on my waist. So I tried the 2. The waist fits, but a tad roomy around my hips, and upper legs. It's not the pant, it's me. and I'm always a P2 in J.Crew bottoms.

So I tried the hook-up like the Style Guide, and my 8yr old daughter said I look like Willy Wonka! Hahaha! It must be the matching suit that Willy is known to wear.
I felt conscious wearing it matchy-matchy. The blazer looked better with jeans and a tee, IMO.

    1. @JSR, thanks for the thorough review! I have the exact same petite issues as you and would have experienced the exact same with both of these items (except, instead of a cute 8 year-old teasing me that I look like Willy Wonka, my husband would be flat-out laughing and making some Oompa Loompa jokes! :-p

Incidentally, I've also had that 'fits well everywhere except in the X, Y, Z' with so many items that I end up going a size and then the parts that were fitting nicely end up having too much material. Disappointing. In any case, I hope you're able to try the blazer in another size!

    2. JSR, i should add that I just now received the Perfect Shirt in Leopard print. I usually wear it in 4P, but I pre-ordered this from Nordstrom and at the time, it was only available in Regular, so I ordered the 4 Regular. I tried it on quickly here at work, but i think it works better than my 4Ps. Better room around the armpit and chest, which are my two 'tight' areas. Sleeve length seemed OK, but I always roll them up anyway. I like the fabric and print on this one and I think it will pair nicely with many pieces for Spring.

    3. I have it coming my way...in the tall size 14. the 12 is tight across the shoulders. I like the extra length in the tall. I am only 5'5" but I only order tall shirts now and tall pants...go figure.

  2. What J. Crew green is everyone wearing today for St. Patrick's Day? I'm wearing the Tartan maxi skirt from Christmas time and a Navy tippi.

  3. I am planning a visit tomorrow. My store is having a new arrival event - 25% off $125 so I'll go to at least try stuff on and I have a pile of returns to make.

For St. Pat's I'm wearing the mint/navy striped Tippi with the green bow and the kelly green regent blazer paired with navy BR sloan pants and the tortoise Collins loafers. Sláinte!

  4. Wanted to post a thank you to Taylor(I think) who recommended the Banana Republic scalloped merino sweater. Ordered two during friends and family and had rewards so they were a great price. Ordered my usual size and the fit is great. The merino is definitely a bit thicker than the new tippi and my wrists are not freezing since it has long sleeves. This one is a win for me. Plan on buying more colors and replacing my tippis with these.

    1. I bought the berry color in this scallop sweater and I love it...the longer sleeves are definitely a win!

    2. Yes, the fit and quality are IMO better than the newer model Tippi. I have long arms and found the long sleeves on the BR sweater to be a good length. I found the BR merino boyfriend cardigan to be nice as well.

    3. Yay, glad it worked out for you! I'll have to check out the bf cardi - I'm looking to replace several JC cardigans that have seen better days.

  5. Hi JCAs! OT to this post but I just wanted to mention that Anthro is having its big 20% off Anthro weekend this weekend. You may have received a code in your email but if not SPRINGPERK should work.

I have picks and more details on my blog.

I'm also hosting a $1000 gift card giveaway, which ends next week. You can choose from 7 stores, J.Crew of course being one.

Alexis please delete if you don't want this post here!!

  7. hi..popped in last night for a quick look..
saw and did not like the
-striped lace up dress (just not for me)
-popover in linen (do not like the gathering)
-eyelet summer weight cotton sweater. (short. sheer-
-garment dyed trench dress (I like my upper arms covered)
-cargo pants (meh... not great..just okay for lounging)
    - the safari jacket (cute but I would have no where to wear it..)
    I liked
    -the merci beaucoup t shirt
    -the linen/cotton leopard shirt
    - leopard print pants
-short sleeved popover in drapery oxford (hate the sleeves but the fabric is really lovely)
this was the pacific centre store in Vancouver.
I guess we will not be getting any shoes (on line only)
the store had 30% off sale. I did not see the 'HEELS ON FIRE T-SHIRT) Maybe Canada will not get it?

  8. This should wait for reviews but...decided to try the wide leg chino (pleated) in burnished moss and the wide leg cropped chino pant in the warm cerise and dark driftwood.
First the wide leg chino in burnished moss. Thank goodness they're not final sale. I don't think I can come up with any redeeming qualities other than "they fit" and the color is ok.
The wide legged cropped chino pant, really looks ten times worse on than I could imagine. I happen to love a high rise wide leg. They're much wider and longer and stiff...
OTOH, the Point Sur trumpet flare in washed black is super flattering. Not sure if I'm ready to go back to flares but the minute I put them on I felt a thousand times better. I immediately ordered them in the blue too.

I keep trying the crop flare but maybe the full length flare is the way to go.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I ordered the button fly cropped chino in dark driftwood also. I love the fit on me but there's something... is it the width, the length, the fabric? Ran it by my fashion consultant(my 22 year old daughter) and she wasn't sure either. I'm going to wait a bit longer to decide if I'll keep them or not.

      Delete
    2. For me the legs are much wider than expected. And they're long, which I can deal with. They are significantly wider than shown online. Honestly I hated the red so much I don't even think I took the driftwood out of the package,

  10. @Monica Bonica @Taylor, thanks so much for the recommendation on the ON pixie pants, I ordered 2 pairs to try, they came today and the silhouette and fit is great!! I'm 5' 3.5" but ordered in Tall for the full length and the length is exactly what I want. Size 2T fits like a glove, size 4T fits but slightly wider on the thigh and knees. I'm debating which pair to keep as I love the fit of the 2T but afraid it might shrink in the dryer since 95% cotton. Do you dry yours in the dryer and if yes, do they shrink?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I have worn the Pixie pants in the past, my experience has been that they do not shrink. Rather the opposite as I found they stretch with wear, so I would wash cold/dry delicate regularly to restore their shape. My suggestion would be to keep the smaller size, though perhaps Taylor and Monica have more insight as they wear them regularly.

      Delete
    2. Yay! I wore a pair yesterday ^_^ I haven't had any issues washing/drying them, so no worries about them shrinking.

      Delete
    3. Good to know. Thanks again!!

      Delete
    4. I don't dry mine typically unless I am trying to de-wrinkle but I have accidentally thrown them in the dryer & aside from slight fading of the color, nothing catastrophic has happened. I'd keep your smaller size. Glad they worked out! (I'm wearing a navy pair today... with J Crew everything else, hee hee.)

  11. Any reviews on the paper bag waist skirt in twill? Specifically how the hips fit? I am exaggerated pear and the crew cuts hips too narrow for my frame but reviews seem to say it runs large. Anyone tried it?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Hi liztriden, I haven't tried the one in twill but I do have the stripe one. I'm guessing they should fit quite similar. I usually buy a sz 2 in Jcrew skirts but ordered the stripe one in a sz 0 based on reviews. I still found it a little big around the hips and rear but the waist was pretty comfy and not tight at all. I'm straight but think if I had curves I would fill it out better. The tie is very long and takes some time/effort but when done well it looks so pretty! I'm 5'7" and it comes below my knee a bit. I thought it was supposed to fit like a pencil skirt based on a review but it is much looser on me. When I looked closely at the web photos it looks looser around the hips and rear on the models so I think it's supposed to be looser.
I ordered the 00 just to see and while it was slimmer the waist felt a little tight and did not sit well in the rear, it bunched up weirdly.
Since you said you're pear shape, if you can order your usual sz and one size down I think you'd find the right fit. I think it would look great on someone with curves! The hips are def roomier than some of their skirts. Hth

    2. Thanks Jan! I think I will give it a try - it's such a cute skirt :)

  13. Hi Everyone! After a long rest from the Crew, I decided to a check out the new things last night on the website. I'm still trying to check out the things on the website this morning. What happened to it? Whole sections won't load, photos don't load, I can't access any information about the items, the sales category section doesn't work. And to top it off, once I added to my cart something from the ONLY section that seemed to sort of be working (jewelry), I couldn't see anyway to get back to my cart to finalize the transaction. WTH? SOOO....I figure this is the Universe telling me "you were perfectly content away from the Crew. Stay that way". Anyone got any helpful advise? I really didn't think they could becoming more irritating, but they did.

    1. Hi Stray Cat! Welcome back. Yes, JCrew has been having issues with their site, been like that for months now. I'm usually shopping on my iPhone - photos don't load, the oops error appear when you choose an item.

    2. Hi JSR! Thanks. I wondered if it was just my connection. Seems really hard to sell things online if you have a site/server issues. The earrings I ordered last night were backordered until May...now they show IN STOCK. Geez, I guess I have to call them and see if a human being knows the truth about the availability. I'm not holding my breath. Universe...message received LOAD AND CLEAR! Ha!

  15. Gosh....I just talked with a local store employee that said she has troubles all the time with the site! The Crew needs to consult Amazon....I sure don't have any issues ordering from them....hee! I feel bad for the Crew since they seem to be struggling, but if you can't get your technology working properly, you don't have any chance of being competitive in this shopping environment.

    1. stray cat, welcome back! i've been having follow-the-bouncing-screen issues too, and also delivery issues - I order something for me, check the screen carefully, click, and lo and behold the shipping address has turned into some random address to which I sent a shower gift a year ago. This is bad, because by the time the confirmation arrives, is read, and a person found on the phone, the "cancel" window has closed. Since free shipping involves the post office, the CS reps claim they can't intercept the package. I've spoken with a couple of reps who claim to have fixed the default address to be me, but on popback purchases time is of the essence, and I'd prefer not having to check screens, hand-enter addresses, etc. or if all else fails to call the mother of the bride and get an earful about how the marriage is in trouble but it's too early to ask for our gift back, everyone has a rough few weeks or months....

    2. Oh for goodness sakes....what a hassle. Like I said, they managed to achieve the (I thought) unachievable! I can't help but look at this from "the bigger" picture....cause that's how I roll...and ask "am I trying too hard to remain a customer when the cost is my time, my patience...my sanity? This morning I thought back on the last 6+ months when I have had no experiences at all with the Crew, online and B & M stores, (they even stopped sending me the style guide...guess they don't need me?) and realized what a feeling of peace it was to be off the gerbil wheel. The momentary thrill of grabbing that item (in the wee hours of the morning!) or finding something on the sale rack in the store can't measure up to the peace I had when the Crew was out of my life. Swimming against the stream just isn't worth it to me anymore. I hope all your snafus get resolved...good luck!

    3. @WFF, (& Stray Cat, too!) WHAT! What a ridiculous mess!! I really love the Crew, but for a company whose business is a) in critical financial trouble and b) most importantly, heavily DEPENDS on online shopping, they really need to sort that sort of thing out!! Really, what a lost opportunity. I personally haven't experienced that frustration lately, but that's only bcc I haven't tried ordering anything in the very past few days. I'm sorry to hear about it all and hope the situation is righted soon! No need to be dealing with wedding drama when trying to an awesome popback, humph! 🙄

    4. I really hope they get with the program like almost ever other retailer from Walmart to Nordstrom and include a feature on the site where you can see if an item is in a local store. I mean how hard can that be??? It saves a lot of time and hassle

    5. Great to see you, Stray Cat. Many of the long-time JCAs have slipped away as J Crew has lowered the bar for quality and service, and their business results certainly show it.

I've been on a J Crew shopping ban for months and don't miss the compulsive buying and returning one bit either! But, I do hold out hope that the brand will get back some of what it used to be.

    1. If you mean item G0639 - I just got a pair delivered today. The champagne color. I decided to try them out since I'm always looking for a full length chino. I love the fabric and the fit at the waist - they come way up to my true waist and are super flattering. Great fit in my normal size 6. The length in the regular is great too (I'm 5'10" and they come all the way down and cover my shoe), what I didn't love was the wide leg. It was a cool overall silhouette, and some reviewers called it a "Kate Hepburn look" and I agree with that totally, just not sure I would wear them. It's not a flared leg, just wide overall. A nice pant, just not quite what I needed.

      Delete
    2. Thank you, Julie. I wish the description said wide instead of straight. Probably won't work on these short legs even in petite.

      Delete
    3. I guess technically it's a "straight leg" since it falls in a straight line from lower hip to hem. I have some older J Crew straight leg wool pants that measure about 9" across the hem when it's lying flat. I just measured these chinos and it's about 11.5" across the hem when flat.

    4. I so agree with so much of what has been shared. I just wonder if there is some underlying issue going on...something that can't be fixed with good technology. The update to my story is....I called and cancelled my order. I didn't ask if the earrings were really in stock or back-ordered. I also didn't mention my inability to access the site properly. They've heard it a million times. I called my local stores and found a pair. Granted there were at the downtown store (ugh) but my husband kindly drove me down, I jumped out of the car (while the car behind us honked and honked) and I ran into the store. I had spoken to a very nice young woman who warned me they were going be very busy due to a Saturday Event. I went in....and I was the only person in the store. I saw the donuts and coffee, but no customers. I asked how they event went and she said "well, the donuts were popular". It made me feel bad for the employees. I decided to go next week to one of the suburban stores and really take a look at the new things when I have time. I'm torn like many of you between the love of the Crew and what I see happening to it. I was under the impression they had identified their problems and were addressing them. We have retailers closing stores all over our city....I don't want that to happen to the Crew.

      Delete
    5. I feel the same way Stray Cat. Good to hear from you by the way! Several chain stores have closed in my area due to bankruptcy and such. I don't want this to happen to Jcrew, but I am not finding as much to appeal to me in in this spring's selections. I feel like many of us are trying to embrace a more minimalist approach to fashion and what I am seeing there is basically what I already have in my closet. What I want is the unique and very special pieces and they seem to sell out quickly.

      Delete
    6. J. Crew is just going too heavily with the trends. A lot of the trends right now are hard to wear. Or perhaps J. Crew is trying to make certain trends happen and they just won't (not on a large scale, anyway). Super high rises (11"+), very wide leg pants, off-the-shoulder tops, full-length ball skirts, tulle skirts, skirts and dresses that are too short (short people are ordering them in Tall sizes), ruffled sleeves, fitted dresses, too-small purses, paint splattered clothes, boot leg crop denim (everyone is trying to make that happen). Their sale racks tell the story of their mistakes and what not to do. They should be using that data.

  21. I cannot figure out what size in J.Crew pants to order. In dresses I'm an 000 or a P00. Skirts I can do 00 (shortened) or P00 or P0.

Every pant I have tried over the past 7 years looks horrible on me, except the bootcut cords from 2011.

I have tried the Cafe Trouser (City Fit), the Minnie, and the Campbell, of the following in my regular size (P0). They are generally fine at the waist but tight in the thighs and hips and butt. The rise is also weird. The Maddie was way too lose in the hips and thighs to be flattering. Plus they pilled like crazy.

I'm eye-ing some Campbells now - wondering if I should go up a size? I'm not sure that will help with the rise issues.
