    1. Agreed -
They do have 20% off today (though there are many exclusions). If there is something you really, really want I guess it is OK, but I'm waiting for a better promo, especially as sale was an extra 40% recently and they will probably have 30% off reg price at some point.

    2. 20% off was disappointing! I'm off tomorrow and was thinking of going to a b&m out of town to check things out in person but the 20% off isn't tempting so I think I'll sadly pass on a store visit. I rarely get a chance to go so I was disappointed.

  2. Definitely the lame promos. Why would I pay double what I would have a few weeks ago for the same items? If all my recent purchases go back, this is why. (Some don't fit, but some I really like, so this makes me sad, but it's the principal.)

  4. SO mad at J. Crew!! I know yesterday had no extra off of sale online but I went to the store expecting something since store can differ from online. They also had no extra off the sale! Are the kidding??? I saw items I got a few weeks ago at extra 40-50 off not marked down more...so one shirt was 59.99 before extra 40-50 weeks ago and now same shirt is still 59.99 with no extra off...How stupid. How do they think they can go from constant percent off then go to nothing extra off and think people will actually buy. I saw some things I would have bought if there had been extra off but I didn't spend a cent as I refuse to without getting anything extra off...I notice the promo changed online today with a small percent off of sale and full price but still a weak sale promo given what they had other times recently. Very disappointed I could not buy anything last night!

    2. Looked to see what the new promo was then promptly exited and went about my day. Saw 50% off final sale is back but it same old stuff I didn't want a month ago.

    3. The 50% is only for like 100 items out of 2,000 in the sale section.

I only picked up one item with the 20% off because it was a spring item markdown and there was one left in my size. I would not budge for the scarves, coats, holiday pieces that are now not marked down further and only extra 20% off.

    4. The fact that their is still almost 2000 items in the sale section, down from around 2200 early this morning, speaks volumes.

  5. And I'll add pitiful styles - nothing here to see. Just some boring old button ups and same old linen blazers.

    1. Was there a small roll out? I noticed maybe 5 new items but nothing good for me. I saw the peplum lady jacket in person already and it is unattractive on the hanger.

  6. OT new arrivals at Factory today as well. Even though I don't purchase much from factory I wish listed more from there than retail this morning. Most are dups of retail things from last year and there are some natural fibers to be found!!Also the tan/ black Pom Pom flats are now available. $82.50 and another 20% off if you spend $100. I am considering placing an order but with the pricing games wondering if I should wait.

    1. Factory's pricing games are so irritating. I've found that the first promo on their items is never the best; later promos typically only vary a few dollars for the same piece since they jack up the price when they offer 40% off. That being said, if you get 20% off those shoes, that's a really good price. Since I live so close to factory, I often will buy to get the % off and then take the other item back. If they can play games, so can I. Haha!

    2. I like a few of the factory items, and I was happy to see many were cotton not poly. I'm waiting for a better promo as the prices don't seem as tempting as they were during the last roll out. Last roll out I bought a bunch of stuff, which was unusual and I was happy with all of it. But yes the prices did drop from the initial day of sales.

    3. I found lots to love at Factory today. Prices might go lower but I was weak. I'm so happy we can still get the Schoolboy blazer style at Factory. New today was a gingham schoolboy that I like better than the new retail gingham blazer - I ordered it in pink. I was a big fan of Minnies but those are gone from retail too - I ordered the Winnies in coral. Hopefully they work. I have a few Teddie sweaters and really like them so I ordered the polka dot.

  7. I wish they would provide fabric content on denim. I have a pair of grey toothpicks that work well, so I decided to order a black pair. Lo and behold, there is 1% elastane difference between the two, which apparently makes a big difference. The black are much more rigid than the grey. Not what I was looking for. Sigh.

  8. I made it another month on my shopping ban! It helps that I don't even have anything wish-listed right now. I'm a lot happier when I don't stalk the website, wait for packages, return things, etc, though I like following along here. I'd like to make it one more month! Anyone else? -lep33shops

    1. Good for you, Lauren! I've had two slips since Jan. 1 -- ordered a scarf from JC and MW's shrunken ex-boyfriend flannel shirt (the grey one) that got rave reviews from JCAs. I love and will definitely wear both, so no regrets. I'm going to try to keep my shopping slowdown going a bit longer. I have more than enough in my closet, and current trends don't hold much appeal for me so I'm happy to get more wear out of the loves I already have. And like you, I'm not missing returns, price adjustments, and especially Narvar!

    2. Congrats ladies to doing well on the shopping ban/shopping slow down! I too slipped up in January, bought a pair of lookouts but am happy with the purchase. My only Jcrew purchase in Feb. was the paperbag waist skirt in stripe. So I'm on a good slowdown but not ban I guess. :) I have to say that it's gotten easier and I'm making more careful decisions now. Over the holidays I bought too much for myself but now that I've really slowed it down I can't believe how easily I was buying before. I'm being more thoughtful now.

    3. I only purchased two items in February. It really does feel good not to have a bunch of packages coming to the house all the time and coordinating trips to make returns. It is getting easier to just say no. I have a few items in my cart but if they sell out before we get a promo that makes them a price I am willing to pay oh well. I am seriously tempted to place a factory order for the floral print basketweave pencil (all cotton and lined!) and a few other odds and ends. I will leave them in my cart and wait for a better promo. Again if it doesn't happen oh well. I used to just buy and then decide if I want to return or buy and if there was a better price later reorder type of person. It is so nice to have broken that cycle. It does help that I am just not into a lot of what is being sold right now. Here's to keeping the momentum going.

    5. I'm still on my shopping slowdown, def shopping less. It helps that it's still cold here so I don't feel the urge to shop for spring/summer. Also delaying (and saving up) the shopping till our trip to Boston in April. A vacation isn't a vacation without some shopping;-))

    6. My ban goes thru March and I'm good. The current offerings - splatter, bell sleeves, tulle - are so trendy that they will start looking dated quickly, so I don't feel deprived. I'm noticing that j Crews silhouettes lately just don't flatter me - midi and long length skirts, mini skirts, high waists, bell sleeves, off the shoulder, the weird gathered shoulders - so it's probably a good time for my break.

I have a very few things wished that I will definitely purchase in April, but I do think Boden will get most of my money this Spring.

Oh - and my shopping ban treat to myself has been a weekly massage, which has made it MUCH easier to avoid mindless purchases!

    7. @fleur de lys, we don't have sales tax on clothing here in
Boston! The J.Crew in Copley Mall is pretty good; ask for Lauren or Amanda.

    8. @sharon bernstein I know, no sales tax is so awesome! I will def be visiting the Copley Mall store, so good to know who to ask for.
Any recommendations for the Cambridge store? As our Airbnb is near Harvard Square we will def visit that one too

  9. While I agree about the pitiful promo (especially in regards to the sale section) - it doesn't exclude the merino wool blazer, which I just ordered as this is the first promo I've seen on that piece. So, I guess I'm happy today.

    1. 100% yes. I already own the gray, so when I saw this was on promo today, I ordered the black! Love this piece!

  10. A-line dress in vineyard jacquard
Since I'm almost six feet tall, I'd like to buy the tall option of this dress, but all tall sizes are sold out. A few of the reviews for the regular version of this dress mention that the regular sizes are too short; therefore, they've purchased the tall version of this dress. Now what are the tall people supposed to do?

I did purchase the Tuxedo blazer with satin lapel today because there was only one left in my size. It really looks like a great piece.

  11. I am sorry. i am 5'5" and i purchase shirts and dresses all in tall from J Crew. its true....everything is too short otherwise

  12. Me too! I have the navy one from the fall and love it so I picked up the black one. (I think I will be happy to have it come fall...I tend to gravitate to navy in spring and black in the fall). I would buy the gray but I look awful in any gray but charcoal.
