This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale
items at our
various local J.Crew stores. ;)
If
you are stopped
by a J.Crew store this past weekend
to see what's available (if
anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS
{sigh!} in person, maybe you
might be willing to
share that with us in this post. In
particular, if you could share
with us a few of the noteworthy items
that are available, at what
prices, and potential sizes the
store is carrying (as well as the
store location)- that would be
fantastic!
Also, please
let us know if your local store
was/ is carrying an additional
percent off sale. Thanks in
advance!!! :)
Another new promo: now they are offering an extra 40% off sale. So, in the past week they have gone from no extra % off sale to 20, then 30, and now 40. Ridiculous!
ReplyDeleteAgreed! I just asked for a second price adjustment on a sale item that hasn't been delivered yet...we'll see what they say.
DeleteI just asked for an adjustment too from several items that were expensive enough that the 10-40% difference is significant. Also ordered a few shoes to try before they're inevitably final sale.
Deletecalled, asked for price adjustments- got moralistic lecture on how i got price adjustment last week and only price adjustment per item is allowed. Phooey.
Delete@wellfredfred .... re-order and return in store. if they want to play the moralistic game, two can play :)
Delete@welfedfred, I didn't get that lecture when I requested an adjustment from 30 to 40%. I also received PA from 20 - 30%. Might try emailing or calling back. I'm with @ Suz Has, the PAs are worth it.
DeleteJust to be sure -- PAs are only granted on items that still exist on the site, right -- NOT popbacks, for example? Asking b/c I caught a denim dress on popback with the 20% sale, but it's no longer on the site. In the past when I've called for PAs, I feel like they usually look up the time and see what the current price is (so they can adjust what I paid to what the lower price is.) Just wondering if anyone had specific experience with this. Thanks!
Delete@TM93, they should be able to look up the price by style number, regardless of if it's on the site. I've gotten PAs on items that were popbacks as long as it's within the adjustment window.
DeleteOh, that's good to know, thanks very much for the reply, Anne! Worth a shot, especially since my item hasn't even shipped (& may not even exist for all I know, heehee.)
Delete@mygoddy, i've never had this happen before when i've called for a PA. i was wondering if this was a new policy - only one PA per item? I have a small collection of phone nos. of smart & helpful cs reps - but if no one I've worked with is on duty, it's a shot in the dark. I will try reordering what's still available in my size, I'm just aggravated enough to do it.
DeleteSo one of my orders shipped last Saturday and they won't honor the price adjustment. It's 10% difference but on an expensive item. Sigh
Delete@Suz Has, you might try the store; it's likely you could return and rebuy.
DeleteYes, hopefully I will get to a store before the 40% promo ends.
DeleteI'm returning the entire order I placed on Saturday. Everything is cheaper and still available. Just basics, but I'm really tired of the pricing games.
Delete@mygoddy, the item popped back today so I ordered this morning at 40% off. At least I don't have to worry about getting to the store today to try and get an adjustment.
Delete@wellfedfred That's so annoying. Perhaps they need a moralistic lecture on poor customer service and pricing games that make me want to discontinue shopping with them. I already gave one to LL Bean yesterday when they extended a (seasonal) backordered item by another month (2+ months from order date) before finally admitting it was available to ship from store. I went to J Crew Factory this weekend to make a return and didn't buy anything because I know the prices will be cheaper next week or the week after. They also had inane discounting in store - Caryn shells 40% off but the cardigans full price, etc.
ReplyDelete@Heather Mill, I've also been on the receiving end of misplaced moralism when I've asked to have wrongly applied sales tax credited back (NYdoesn't tax items of clothing that cost less than $110) or recomputed (sales tax is computed at rate where item is SENT TO not from). This happens quite often when item is sent out of state from a store. Lately I've been tempted to respond by mentioning that Cayman Islands business....
DeleteWFF. They've probably made enough profit from all of us here to buy the Cayman Islands.
Delete@wellfedfred - I never knew that about NY sale tax - do you know if that is the same in NYC? I think I have paid sales tax on clothing purchases less than $110 in stores. I try to avoid shopping in the city or shipping anything to myself at work for that reason! I'll have to look into this...
Delete@Heather Mill - there is definitely no tax on clothes under $110 anywhere in NYC. This is applicable to both shoes and clothing -- this law has been in place for a number of years now, since Bloomie was mayor. Note that your entire purchase can total over $110 -- you only get taxed if a single item costs $110 (so $90 jeans, $100 boots, etc = no tax, but throw a $150 jacket and the jacket will be the lone thing that gets taxed). I get all my purchases shipped here to me in NYC, sans tax issues.
