This is the weekly "Other JCrew-like Retailers" post (similar to the "Off On A Tangent"
posts), where we can share our finds from other
retailers that have offerings similar to J.Crew
(like Anthropologie, LE Canvas, Gap, BR, Talbots, Ann
Taylor, and the like.)
If you
have recently encountered items that are similar to
J.Crew, maybe you might be
willing to share that information with us
in this post.
Please feel
free to share your story on almost any topic—
including experiences with certain merchandise pieces,
promotions/ offers, in-store visits,
transactions with store associates, etc.
The Shopbop Friends & Family Sale Event started yesterday and runs until 4.7.16. Save 25% off your order with code INTHEFAM. Lots of Madewell items including the Transport Tote which nets $126 with the discount. I've shared my picks for the sale event in this post for those interested.
ReplyDeleteI have a couple Everlane reviews on my blog here. I really like their newest batch of T-shirts and think they'll be my go-to for those, especially since every T I've bought from J.Crew has fallen apart or stretched out!
ReplyDeletei recently bought a pair of huarache sandals (ECUADOR SANDAL BURNT SIENNA) from Nisolo.
ReplyDeletereally nice soft leather, TTS for me (slightly wider feet). just enough cushion on the sole. comfy right out of the box. plus super awesome customer service. not only did they email me a thank you after i placed the order, but i also got a hand written note with my order thanking me again for my order. free shipping and free exchanges. they also have some other beautiful sandals and totes which i might also check out.
i have a referral code for $25 off if anyone is interested.

Caught in a recent downpour at my son's baseball game, I decided I needed an inexpensive lightweight contingency rain jacket that I could just keep in the car, that could be kept crumpled in the trunk and would still be presentable. Yesterday at my weekly target run, I found the perfect answer, the women's rain anorak by merona, for $39.99. Target does these jackets really well -- I also have the cotton twill and grey versions from last year in the same design (but I think their mossino line), and they are very cute. Online reviews are 5 stars, with one 1 star for not being water proof, but I ran it under my bathtub faucet for a full minute and the inside remained perfectly dry.
ReplyDeleteRuns tts, although I ended up getting a medium bc it was the smallest size they had in black. Because the waist cinches, I could not see much difference in the way the medium fit, versus the small.
Lands' End just sent an email "introducing Canvas by Lands' End". Some interesting looks but nothing I have to have right now.
ReplyDeleteI was surprised to see the Canvas brand resurrected, this time it seems to be targeted at an older demographic, maybe more in keeping with LE's current customer base, rather than trying to attract younger customers like the first version of Canvas.
DeleteIMO, the prices are too high. It certainly will be interesting to see how this plays out for Lands' End.
DeleteAs I cruised my local thrift shop, a skirt caught my eye. I pulled it out and was instantly impressed by the quality of the fabric and the construction. Lo and behold, it was a Boden skirt! There isn't a Boden store anywhere near here (not sure if there are even any Boden stores in Canada), so it was nice to see a brand that I've heard so much about. Unfortunately it was not my size, so it will be someone else's good fortune to find it, but it definitely made me want to see more Boden pieces!
ReplyDeleteSpotted a few Lilly Pulitzer shorts and an Elsa silk blouse at the local TJ Maxx. The shorts were all SHORT shorts in size 0 or 2. I would've purchased the Elsa blouse if it was in a print I loved.
ReplyDeleteI got an amazing Lilly necklace at my TJ Maxx a couple of weeks ago. I believe the price was $25.
DeleteI forgot to check the jewelry counter! The great finds have been few and far between at my local discounters lately. Love it when something fabulous shows up!
DeleteI have really been liking Banana lately. Their work pants beat J Crew's by a mile in terms of fit (for my body anyway) and the prices are pretty good. I have also finally found the perfect denim short! woo woo. Anyway, check out my reviews here
ReplyDeleteOh wow, that strappy Gerber Floral dress is so pretty on you! I had tried the pencil skirt with that print, but decided that having the Watercolor skirt would be enough (part of the issue for me is the fit -- 2P too big, while 0P is on the snug side so I didn't want to have two of these skirts.)
DeleteI love all their pant colors but they fit me super funny, whether it's the Petite or Reg. version. But I've been impressed with Banana's offerings lately. I'm loving this dress:

and this one:

I'd like to try on the strappy one you reviewed. I'd seen it before but didn't think it would work for my figure, as I'm broad-shouldered and strappy can be tricky for me.
Great picks!
With a promo, I plan to try the following BR dresses: the Strappy Midi Dress, the Pintuck Vee Dress and the Peplum Floral Dress. I liked the Ryan Black pants I tried, and I would like to try the Ryan Fit Gray Slim Pant. For years I've begged J.Crew for more tall options and they either don't care or don't want to increase their tall options.

ReplyDeleteKate Spade - I reviewed three of the newer handbags in this post. YOUANDME gets 25% off your purchase thru Sun, 4/10.
ReplyDeleteI've shared a list of sales & deals taking place around the web this weekend (including J.Crew & Madewell), as well as my personal picks from each of the retailers. Check it out here. :)
ReplyDeleteCan't believe I would ever be saying this, but several things from Ann Taylor have caught my eye, as I pass by their windows on my way to work in the morning. Loving the pineapple prints, the oversized gingham and the eyelet pieces.
