This is the weekly "J.Crew Reviews {straight from the JCAs}" post, to help each other share our reviews.
So
if you have recently purchased,
or stopped by a J.Crew store to try
on an item (or two) from J.Crew, maybe you
might be willing to share that
information with us in this post.
Also, this request is not just limited to clothes. Please feel free to discuss bags, shoes, jewelry, accessories, etc.
In
particular, if you could
mention a few of the noteworthy
details like fit, size, fabric, and the
like— that would be fantastic! Thanks
in advance! :)
Hi all, I reviewed the paneled geometric dress and belted dress in textured herringbone, here and here. Hope that helps!
ReplyDeleteThe polka dot shift & belted tweed dress reviewed in this post. Both are on sale.
ReplyDeleteI'm having trouble with the striped gemmas. I ordered my normal size and they seemed way to big. So I sized down a half size and they are way too small. I think I'll try one more order of my normal size - maybe my first attempt was a fluke. They are so cute in person.
ReplyDeleteI received the lace up flats in pink and I looooove them. The leather is much softer than the patterned version (which I have and love, just took a few wears to soften them up). Now I'm stalking the black version. I'm only wear pointy toed flats so every few years I stock up on different styles. This version is a great style that will last me many years.
Oh no, that's good to know! These are on their way to me as we speak. Ina replied to my comment about them on her IG and she suggested that they run a little big so I went half a size down (I have the Gemmas in Leopard and this is true for these, for me, as well -- the half size down, I meant.) I hope this was a fluke and your second order fits!! Those shoes are irresistibly cute.
DeleteYes, I hope they fit you! I found the leopard gemmas to be true to size for me. So weird, per usual for j crew shoes though. I can't resist the striped ones which is why I going to places third order lol!!
DeleteI bought the Laila wedge in vachetta leather yesterday at the clearance store. They had a bunch of them - I suspect it's because they run half a size large so there were probably lots of online returns. I wear a 7 in the Cece & a 7.5 in the Martina but took a 6.5 in the Laila. As per the reviews on JC's site, the leather is not great quality. I would not even pay the sale price of $140 - 25% sale price - but they were certainly worth it to me to lay down $48 for them! They're the perfect neutral tone & the low wedge makes them super-walkable. They're a great addition to my Spring & Summer shoe arsenal.
ReplyDeleteThat's a great price Taylor! I almost always wear sz 9 in Jcrew shoes but the sz 8 in the suede Laila wedges fit. They seem to have long narrow footbeds.
DeleteI have about 7 different pair of Gemmas, including both fabric and leather. The 8 is perfect for me but I can wear a 8.5 with a little gel insole so I have both sizes (I buy them at the clearance store and so I make the 8.5 work if that is all they have) I do not have the stripe Gemma but have found all other versions to be TTS in my regular size. Hope that all makes sense. I would definitely try your normal size again.

ReplyDeleteIf anyone is interested in the gingham stack heel sandal (ties at the ankle) that was shown at NYFW, it's available for pre-order. Style # F1495; price is $238. CS can help with the pre-order or you can do it in store which is what I did. OT. Bloomingdale's and Shopbop are both having a friends and family event, so you can save 25% off. Code works on sale stuff too; there are exclusions. @ Bloomies you can also earn a $25 Reward Card for every $100 spent. Nordstrom will price match, so the Sam Edelman Gretchen is less than $98. This is a good option for a spr/summer trend item. I have a pic of the sandal on my IG (peterst1) and @valleyoftheshoes has one on her IG too. Also, Bobbie Brown is 20% off at Nordies too, so if you like her stuff, may want to order since cosmetics rarely go on sale.
ReplyDelete@mygoddy, you got the camel ones, correct? Is the material on the straps navy or black? I know on the ivory ones it's gray. I can't tell from the pic. I was looking at a similar style on the sam Edelman website but haven't found them anywhere else (Lisabeth I think the style is called). I may get the Gretchen instead but not sure which color is better for me.
Delete@Suz Has, yes I bought the camel & it's definitely navy. The camel and navy works well with what I have in my wardrobe. I like the ivory too but for me that would be a less versatile option. I looked for the Lisabeth after seeing your post but didn't have any luck. It's a really cute option; is that sandal from a previous season?
DeleteThe Lisabeth is this season's style, I noticed it before I saw the Gretchen, but now that I look at it again I like the Gretchen better, the Lisabeth has more beading and less embroidery. The only place I've seen it is on the Sam Edelman website.
DeleteTie waist skirt in chino (formerly called washed cotton skirt) - I ordered my usual size in skirts and it fits well. Some reviews say to size up, I think if you're curvy that would likely be true but for me it was TTS. I really like it, think the quality is good and mateial is substantial. I'm 5'7" and like the length as it hits just past my knees but I can see the length being an issue depending on your height. I do feel that the slit is too high for me personally and the slit is a bit wide IMO. I def wouldn't wear it to work but I'm planning on wearing it casually. This is a keeper for me despite the slit.
ReplyDelete@Jan, so glad that the skirt worked for you! (I didn't notice that the skirt goes by a different name now) but still, since I praised it.. it would be my fault if you were disapointed in it:)
Delete@Nan, I thought of you when I received it! I'm so glad I tried it and am thinking of getting the white too. It's been excluded from the last couple of promos so it must be selling pretty well.
Delete@Jan, keep in mind that the white, although substantial ,isn't totally opaque..maybe not as thick as the honey brown as you can clearly see the outline of the two front pockets. My store had it styled with a white top.. and a pretty necklace. But I'd say that if you tuck your top in and keep the extra fabric aligned with the waistband of the skirt (double fabric plus the belt) , you will be just fine. If that doesn't work, they have it the red clay :)
DeleteNan, thank you for the info! That's too bad about the white re: pockets outline sometimes that bugs me. Did you end up keeping the white? I bought the honey brown. They don't have them at my closest store (apparently not many cdn stores are getting them). Have you seen the red clay IRL?
Delete@Jan,the jury is still out on the white one:) I've tried it with a white linen sweater slightly tucked in the front and it looks nice; tried with a stripped light blue & white button down and liked it too. But as you said, the fact that I can see the outline of pockets bothers me a little (just a little )..I'm more concerned with the back that might be more revealing than I'd want them to be but as far as I can tell, nude underwear is perfect (same with any white pair of jeans).I'm leaning toward keeping it:)
DeleteOn the red clay..didn't see IRL but on an instagram account of another jc aficionada (meuban10). My personal preferences are the honey brown (love) and the white (like it a lot and see the versatility of that color).
@Nan, thank you so much for your opinions! I like the ideas for tops you tried with the white. With free shipping and promo I think I'm going to try it out. :) I love the honey brown too.
Delete@Jan, :) free shipping gets me every time.. Hopefully you will end up loving the white too (and if you can pull the ruffle-sleeve top) it would look very nice with it (I tried but felt like a flamengo dancer:)
DeleteToo funny, I tried the ruffle sleeve top and felt like a clown lol. Too bad as it's so cute.
DeleteLooking for comments on the women's vintage and tissue tees. I want to order a navy blue short sleeve V-neck, but really worried about it developing holes. The vintage tee reviews don't look promising, but I'm considering that tee because there's a petite option available (not so with the regular tissue tee). I know the Perfect Tees are of a more substantial weight, but the cut is a little too slender, and I'm looking for a looser fit. Should I not even bother and look for a navy tee somewhere else?
ReplyDeleteReview of the eyelet top with collar.

@Suz Has, I think it looks nice on you and the color is pretty! I had the same issue as you re: the body being pretty wide. I really wanted to tuck it in like in the style guide but couldn't so I returned it since I was mostly hoping to wear the white with skirts. I also had trouble getting it off over my head. :)
DeleteI don't remember seeing it tucked in in the style guide, I'll have to look. I remember the pic from the website in the light blue half tucked into jeans.
DeleteI think it was March, the white was tucked into the collection skirt in lilac I believe. I remember seeing it on jcrew's Pinterest.
DeleteYou are right! Just saw it. No way that's possible. It must have been pinned/tucked. When I tried that it got very puffy in the back. Granted it's wide on me, but if it's wide on me, I can't imagine it's that fitted on the model.
DeleteRec'd and swooning over the Colette d'Orsay pumps in glitter mosaic. (But beware, to love it as I do, you must believe, as my 10 year old daughter does, that "you can never outgrow sparkle!")
ReplyDeleteFits like the dulci kitten heel (i.e., I took my normal shoe size (8), not my usual JC heel size (8.5). Have not worn them out yet, so cannot comment for sure about comfort, but I have worn the Colette in patent tortoise (not for extensive walking) without any discomfort so I suspect these will be similar if not better, as the material is more flexible than patent.
