I love that new items went on sale. Not happy about Final Sale though. Meh.

  1. Biggest promo let down ever. After that wait, nothing I've been stalking is on sale and no major sale on full price items. 40-50% off is just BS. The exchange for Final Sale is the higher percentage off. The only upside is new sale doesn't appear to be final.

My items all seem like things that will eventually be on ebay/poshmark. I think JCrew just lost me for the rest of the season.

  2. I'm disappointed as well. Was really hoping for a promo code for full priced items. The sale section is so picked through with limited sizes at this point and Final Sale is a never for me. Guess I'll continue to wait.

  3. Yep, big let down! I got up at 3am to come out to the kitchen for a drink of water...and to check the new Crew promo, haha. Everything I had my eye on that was on sale yesterday is the same price today, same percent off, but it's final sale. No precent off the full price things I've been eyeing. Glad I ordered a couple things yesterday before FS hit.

  4. unless I'm having some sort of computer glitch, it appears they removed all the ratings and reviews from the regular items items that are now at 40% off. I think I have seen this before. I hate when they do that. Trying to get us to make uninformed decisions.

    2. I've noticed they do that often. Comments will be there one day and gone the next. Happens a lot on the Factory site as well.

    3. I would expect the reviews disappearing to be more a tech problem, usually they're up again soon.

  5. Everything in my cart went to final sale with no bump in % off. Thanks for helping me spend less, JC! What a joke for a retailer that really needs to move merchandise right now... Too bad.

  6. I made an early morning purchase of the patent Collins loafers in bright cerise and of course realized as I was submitting the order that they were final sale. 95% of J.Crew shoes fit me in my regular size so hoping that these work. I'll probably refrain otherwise unless it's something I know will fit.

Yesterday, prior to final sale I picked up the black sequin cardigan, mint/grey sequined fair isle and the wide leg pant in wool (the full length ones with the pleat in the front). Based on the reviews to size up, I'll be surprised if these pants work but I had to give them a shot. The more I think about those pleats, the more I think my things will hate them but we'll see.

    1. I believe you will love the collins loafer. I have them in tortoise in my regular size. I will tell you that the first few times I wore them they rubbed on the back insides of my feet. I don't wear socks or anything with mine. Keep some bandaids handy. After the second or third time they are awesome. I just know you will love them.

    2. DD, I love the tortoise ones too! Thanks for the heads up as I probably won't wear socks with them either. I never bit the bullet on the Biellas in the similar color and have always regretted it. I keep a Bandaid friction stick in my purse for new shoes, it's a miracle worker and goes a long way to prevent blisters! I'll report back when I get them :)

    3. Oh cool. I probably need to check out that friction stick.

  7. Yawn. I'm broke (and fat) from Christmas and none of the post-holiday sales at any store got my attention. Thanks, J.Crew, for making it a lot easier to pass on items by making them final sale!

    2. I have only thought a couple pieces were decent. I bought one. Most of the jewelry they've been doing has literally looked liked a kids craft project it's awful and tacky.

    3. I agree, Jessica and Pathos. I realize now that I have not bought a single piece of Jcrew jewelry for about a year.

  9. I'm struggling to find JCA reviews of the V-neck Tunick Sweater #E5392 (apologies if this has been discussed before.) I normally am a solid Small in sweaters, but took an XS only in the really large Open Cardigan and Collection Chunky Cardigan. I rarely size down. Reviews on line says to. Any reviews would be helpful, thanks! KT

    1. Hi pathos! Like Anne The fab life said,i have it in two colors, grey and navy.
There are pics on my IG and i wear mine quite often.
I am usually a xs in sweaters (tippi) and have the xxs in those and that gives me the perfect slouchy boyfriend fit.
They pill a little,it hasnt been too bad. Some people had more problems with it.
      HTH

    2. Hi, Pathos! I am usually a Medium in sweaters and the XS was HUGE on me. I am short-waisted and it was very boxy; made me look very wide as it hit me in a bad spot. I hope you have better luck with it! :)

    3. funny how mixed the sizing is! Ina, I'm going to start following your IG, I think we are close in size. Nice outfits! :-)

I ordered the XS this AM, and then called CS for measurements, which are about the same as my size Small Collection Cashmere Boyfriend V-Neck #47920, if this helps anyone.

At least it's not final sale. :-P

    4. How do you plan on cleaning yours? I wondered if a sweater stone would work on this fabric?

      Delete
    5. @pathos. Glad you like my IG!
I will probably dry clean the sweater and use my sweater comb on it to de-pill it:)
How do you use the sweater stone?

      Delete
    6. I've never used one, but after reading this article, it completely changed my orientation to pilling yarn and yarn in general. I was on a search on what to do with the Collection Chunky Cardigan because it just had this all over fuzz effect like a halo. I was trying to comb off the frizz with a lint brush, and after reading this article, I realized that this kind of brushing and pulling actually stretches out the shorter fibers, can break off the fibers too, which then creates more fuzz.

I'm interested in what the "laundress" said...maybe trying an oil on cashmere and a stone. I rarely wash my cashmeres as it is to help perserve them.

But in regards to this tunic sweater....not sure what would work best. I'm thinking the shorter fibers and the acrylic is what causes the fuzz and pills.

  10. Hi @pathos, I tried this on in store - I may not be the best on sizing because I'm usually inbetween sweater sizes - I'm a 10/12 on top and a M/L depending on the sweater. I usually size down in the oversized sweaters. I tried a M of this and found it to be slouchy but a little shorter than I would have liked. I didn't try the L for comparison. There's a pic on this post on my blog here, about halfway down the post.

Ina (@inawonderland5) has this sweater too - not sure if you're on Instagram but she has it on in several posts going back the last few weeks - looks like she sized down as well and it looks like she still has plenty of room in the sweater. One of the comments on her post though from a fellow J.Crew sales associate said the sweater pilled badly after a day of wear :(

    1. Ann, thanks for the link. I think the sweater looks fabulous on you! That's the look I"m going for. I have the cashmere v-neck boyfriend sweater from years past (really nice thick cashmere) that fits just like that---I'm looking to replace it. Not sure with this one, though, if it pills so badly! I ended up returning the Collection Chunky Cardigan bc of the fuzz! It came off in chunks. Anyway, I wonder if this knit is the same material as the Open Cardigan....I have it and can tell it will sag and stretch out, and it is starting to get fuzzy.

    2. Hi @pathos, this is OT, but thanks for the feedback you provided this week on the collection cashmere waffle henley sweater. I decided to go ahead and order despite final sale. The grey and black both popped back in a medium, so I went for it since they were 70% off. Thought I was done with winter, but still finding a couple of goodies.

    3. @Mygoddy,
Yay! I think this is one of the "good sweaters" from JCrew and I had to share! Fingers crossed you love it too (final sale - boo!) I bought another one in ivory to replace mine from last year!

  11. Nothing I must have. Was looking into the Thomas mason black watch plaid and a few other tops, and the pull on pants in floral lace in black because I think they'd be really cute to dress up for spring, but they sold out for the moment. A few other items in my bag but I'm sitting on it all.

    1. Now the lace pants popped back in my larger size but everyone says to size down. Even though they're reduced to about $40, I don't know if they'll look good too loose.
I'm also tempted to get the full length wide leg pant in glen plaid wool at $54. Of course I don't need the though.

  12. I had a huge order delivered--15 items---and returned all but two. As usual, JC pants are not made for my body. Returned every single one. And I ordered quite a few of the dresses on sale, and none of them were keepers even at $41. The dresses were true to size but were either not special enough, or had some weird fit issue that I've never had before with JC. For example, the merino sweater dress was waayyy too low of a v neck, half my bra showed, and the vneck black dress with white-purple flowers (forget the name) was also strangely long on top. I hated the belted suiting dress because the belt goes through the back of the dress. Very unflattering. I liked it much better when I pulled the belt out and just tied it myself. But not enough to keep. Sigh. I could have really used one or two new dresses.... I kept the perforated v neck sheath dress. It did fit well and was the only one I got on final sale. And I kept the boys Ludlow tartan blazer. LOVE and adore this!! I wear size 0 in JC tops, 00 if sleeveless, (I'm 5'4") and the boys size 14 fit me like a dream. I do have the size 16 on it's way to me---it somehow shipped much more slowly---but I can't imagine keeping it instead. If anyone would like a comparison between the two sizes, just let me know. I think the 14 is sold out right now.

    2. B Sheils - Did you find the perforated v-neck to be tts?

    3. @gigisgoneshopping -That's a tough one. Yes and no. My usual size 0 was the right call, but it'll depend where you need the fit to be right. The skirt is very straight. I sized to that. I usually size 00 in JC skirts but would not want mine tighter. I would not have sized down there. (Reference: I'm 5'4", size 00 skirt, 0 top or dress, and 2 in pant for JC) I might be doing an alteration to the top and will at least be wearing a light cami or tank underneath. I usually get a 00 in JC sleeveless tops, size 0 w sleeves. I'm small busted and the v is revealing on me. I will be flashing people if I'm standing and sitting often. On final sale, at $35, the fit is totally do-able. But full-price, I never would have kept this because of tiny fit issues as mentioned. I don't know if a petite option might have worked better... don't live anywhere near a store.... Possible it would have been better fit on top for me. But still, I think it'll be nice, casual option for me in the summer w sandals. Green color is gorgeous.

    4. B Sheils - Thanks for the reply. I can't remember if I tried the 4 or 6 (my usual size). But I bought the 8P and it took away the drapey-ness. I returned it. I think it's worth getting altered, esp at that price. It's a great dress.

  13. Can anyone advise on fit for the Holly Sweater? Some of the reviews say to size up, some say it's true to size. I never know anymore with Crew. Like a Tippi in my usual size fits nice, but a different sweater I have in my usual size was huge.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Hi Gabriela - Personally, I thought the Holly felt TTS, but since it's final sale I'd get in touch with CS for measurements. With some of the shorter sweaters, I suspect that people may size up to get more length in the body. HTH!

      Delete
    2. I agree with silverlining, the Holly sweater is TTS. I think some people size up to get more length,as it is a little on the short side.
I suggest getting your normal size and wear a shirt under it.
I reviewed it on my IG (in the heather rust color), but you have to scroll down a bit.
      HTH

    3. for me the holly runs small; I'm typically an xs or s in jcrew tops, and in the holly I definitely needed the small. the body isn't tight, but it's a shrunken/cropped fit, it hits at my high hip. the arms are fine and almost long enough, it's more the torso length that's limiting for me. I can wear it with high waisted jeans/skirts but not anything low rise. I think the fit is very sweet and kind of old fashioned, but I would have loved it in a size tall.

      Delete
    4. I am between a M/L in sweaters and found the L to be big in the body but it was a little too short for my liking to wear without something underneath. I agree with stripedsocks that I would have loved it in a tall. It reminded me of some of the older traditional J.Crew sweaters with the wider crewneck collar. I tried the large in the same post that I shared with pathos here. I contemplated it on this last price cut but I have to lay off the stripes!

      Delete
    5. Thank you all! I'm going to try sizing up to gain some length in the torso.

  14. I am wishing I had placed an order yesterday, too. I knew final sale was inevitable, but for some reason wasn't even thinking about it, and didn't want to have to spend $150+ to get the free shipping on a couple of sale items. I was actually hoping for another free shipping on all orders day yesterday, since they added a few new arrivals, but woke up to final sale today instead...what a let down!

    1. Hi Melissa - I agree, I saw something get marked down yesterday that I wanted to grab but there was no free shipping (didn't they usually do that on the last day of a promo?) and today it's final sale. Something to keep in mind for the future - and I think that our own JenniferD tipped us off to it - is that if something you're looking for gets marked down it will likely not be final sale on the first day that it's marked down, but it will be FS on the second day. No doubt part of JC's tactic to have customers checking the sale section every day... or maybe just JCA's! ; )

      Delete
    2. Absolutely, silver_lining! Although today I actually did bite on the Campbell blazer in velvet, which popped back in my size, and added 2 tippis that are on sale in colors I've been hoping to get for awhile now. I've tried on all of them before, so I'm pretty confident everything on the order will work out, even with final sale.

  19. A cautionary note for those who are considering purchasing a Lady Day Coat on FS: on the website, the front pockets are shown on the front seam. I have several older versions, and this is how JC has done this coat in the past. Very practical and flattering, as the pockets do not bulge sideways. I just received one in warm olive, which I bought prior to FS, and the pockets are on the side seam. This placement makes it more awkward to use, and less flattering as it adds a slight bulge on the sides. There were a couple of comments to this effect, but since the photo shows the pockets in the original (front seam) position, I took a chance and ordered. While the coat is still a great coat, it's just disappointing to me, and so I'm going to return it...

    1. I got it in bright cerise but haven't worn it yet and just realized it when you said that! Mostly I will be wearing out to dinner or parties, not walking outside long distances, so it shouldn't be an issue for me, but I do think you might be right in that it makes the sides of the coat puff out more.

  20. I just ordered the patio pants in mini-dot wool - final sale, but I've had good luck with the patio pants and feel like I know my size.

The reviews say these pants are LINED - can it be? That would be wonderful. The price after discount was very good for wool pants, and the menswear-style fabric seems like it will get a lot of wear from me.
