This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale
items at our
various local J.Crew stores. ;)
If
you are stopping
by a J.Crew store this weekend to see
what's available (if
anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS {sigh!} in
person, maybe you might be
willing to share that with us in this
post. In particular, if you could
share with us a few of the
noteworthy items that are available, at
what prices, and potential sizes
the store is carrying (as well
as the store location)- that would be
fantastic!
Also,
please let us know if your local store is
carrying an additional percent
off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)
P.S.
I noticed that many of
you have already been reporting sale
items (and in which stores) in
other posts which by the way "thank
you!" :) I really appreciate how
helpful we are for each other!
I probably won't go until new arrivals are out.
ReplyDeleteHowever, JC - are you looking at your own sale section, especially the 50% off category?
Classic v-neck cardigans for $25
Pixies for $30
Ceces for $35
Majesty Peacoats for $45
These are all formerly best-sellers that were tinkered with to cut costs. Just sayin'.
silver_lining - Good point! I don't plan to buy any of them.
DeleteOh wow - so wait, when you cut costs so much that consumers are no longer interested, you have to lower the selling price to an almost laughable point, and your profit margin diminishes? What a concept.
DeleteAgree, silver_lining. And let's not forget the 'improved' Tippi!!
DeleteI'm one of the rare few who liked the new Cece's better, so I bought two pair at these bargain prices.
DeleteI bought a majesty peacoat and have been wearing it steadily for a few months. I really like it. I surprisingly never tried on the older versions so I can't compare but I'm very happy with this years that I purchased. :)
DeleteSo I tried the majesty pea coat in array of sizes and colors. Tried reg 2 and 4 petite 4..black, grey and navy.. All have same issue with the pockets sticking out... Makes my body look short... Although tempting to keep for such good price ....sending back
DeleteNo J. Crew for me this weekend, but I was able to visit a Madewell store this week. I continue to see lots to love there. They are definitely in that in between season where the winter stuff is looking a little tired and there hasn't been a big spring rollout yet, but I loved the loafers in leopard, the high rise skinny jeans, a little tee with a ruffle hem in linen and a couple of really cute skirts.
ReplyDeleteI only purchased the tee, but the loafers and the jeans are on my wishlist. I'm hoping for the unlikely event of a full price promo (although they sometimes do a % off if you spend over $125 or something.
I don't remember in the past if Madewell did a % off on full priced items during spring season, same goes for J.Crew. I'm hoping for a % off, too.
DeleteDid you try the loafers? I'm surprised it's not selling as fast as I thought it would online. I was worried my size would sell out, but it hasn't.
I did try the loafers. I would say size up, but I have a wide foot.
DeleteOne of the things I did notice was that there were a ton of the Brushed Plaid Pullover in the sale section. They looked awful. They were so pilled and fuzzy and shapeless looking. I have been so impressed with Madewell's quality, and I really, really hope they are not going to way of J. Crew. This sweater looked unwearable and that's before even one wearing. The state of this sweater made me fearful of what's to come at Madewell. Please don't mess this up, J. Crew. You've got a good thing going -- don't run it into the ground.
I haven't been in a J. Crew store in so long, I can't remember the last time. There is only one small store where I live which has limited inventory. No shoes or other accessories except some jewelry. It's never been a big draw for me and I generally purchased online. That has diminished significantly over the last few years. Nothing like 2008 and 2009 when I bought every single thing! Many of those pieces I still own.
ReplyDeleteI did check the site today, nice sale update. I've been after the Reid jeans in classic rinse and they popped back in my size this morning. At least I hope they are my size. I have the Reid in black and the reviews on classic rinse said they ran small so I went one size up from the black. Weird how the different colors fit differently. They were 40% off of $49.99, so even after tax and shipping they were just over $35. They must be losing money on these deep cuts.
I asked J.Crew on IG when they'll be rolling their new stuff, and they replied back, Jan 26. :-(
ReplyDeletei thought someone who worked there told us jan 20th....
DeleteMy store director told me the 25th
DeleteSomebody told me the wrong info,so it is on the 25th.
DeleteI got an email announcing 50% off final sale items - exclusively for cardholders for the next 72 hours.
ReplyDeleteHow is this different from the current 50 off final sale? What am I missing?
@wellfedfred I think the early access is for 50% off everything opposed to the smaller sale section that's 50% off. Of course, they should knock that up to a higher percentage off, but we know that's probably too much to ask for...
DeleteI visited a store yesterday afternoon and the entire sale section was additional 50% off. Mentioned the difference with the online site and the SA laughed and said, yeah, we finally have the better discount!
Deleteooo, I'm a cardholder and I didn't get the email, is there a special promo code for that?
DeleteThe code is EARLYACCESS.
DeleteCode for cardholders is earlyaccess. They got me to bite on a few things I know should fit and a pair of pants that may not but for the cost not a huge risk.
DeleteI have a day off Monday so I may swing in then...not sure if I'll get there over the weekend. I have a few returns to make and I was really hoping they may have some of the new stuff out since I thought I recalled seeing that next week is the rollout, not the week of the 25th...
ReplyDeleteI did pick up the Collection cropped pants in painterly floral and a grey cashmere turtleneck this morning online and of course saw the 50% email after I placed the order so immediately emailed for a price adjustment.
With the additional percentage off I finally bit the bullet on a few items (online). The belted zip trench in heather turquoise, the metallic tweed blazer with front pockets in ivory, the Elsie suede pumps with enamel heel in Kraft brown, the Thomas mason. In Stewart plaid, and a few basic tops and sweats that were just too good to pass up, including the turtleneck in wool cashmere in gray (I already have red and black, though it's boxy, I love it and $30 it's tempting to get a second black one!)
ReplyDeleteI was tempted to also get the wide leg pants in glen plaid, but I'm trying hard not to buy for the sake of buying, even though they're such a great price. The lace pants still are on my radar but unavailable in my size.
DeleteAnd, lol, the marching band pants are now again available in size 4, for anyone who might not have them. I bought them last March and in the smaller of my two sizes, fit just like the model, kind of slouchy. Pants this fall run much much smaller!
DeleteDisappointed a few items from my order got cancelled. Skinny sweats and the cropped denim shirt sleeve shirt. :( I was especially looking forward to both of those items.
DeleteJust to let everyone know...They are doing extra half off clearance now in store but two different stores told me they are not allowed to also use student/teacher discount...very disappointing as they always have on every other clearance in the past...
ReplyDeleteHi @RN, I went tonight and didn't have a problem; my store is in D/FW, and it wasn't even an issue. Didn't come up at all. Made a few returns & some price adjustments. My pa's included items that had shipped, but hadn't been received. I gave the SA my phone with the shipping info & she honored 50% instead of 40% & gave me the 15%. I explained that I didn't want to make a 2nd trip when the items arrived and the SA was happy to help. After adjustments: stripe faux fur tunic $53, collection wool a line midi skirt $68 & buffalo check shirt jacket $38. You might let them know this "policy" isn't universal. Wishing you luck @RN!
DeleteWill go but only for a few online returns. Have what I need from JC at this point. Gonna wait for new arrivals plus I need to "cool it" since I picked up Chloe Marcie; a small crossbody in tan has been on my must have list for travel. OT, I bought the white lace dress from BR for < $10. It's more expensive online, but $15.99 + 40% off in store. Saw a blogger (Fashion Jackson) wearing it off shoulder; this will be great for vacation. Off shoulder is in again for Spring 2016, so interested to see what JC does with this trend & others.
ReplyDeleteI also ordered with the early access code with the markdown of the sale wool Martie Pants at $25. These fit me well, one size up in a 2. But the cotton ones do not fit me in regular or petite ( I am 5'4") in 0 or 2. Also the belvedere red Silk Drapey Blouse popped back in a 0. Cross my fingers it ships.
ReplyDeleteSo someone asked if I posted pics. I posted my first (ok, second) Instagram. I'm wearing my marching band pants, a Madewell denim shirt, and the wool backzip sweater in charcoal. Shoes are Anne Klein but the calf hair leopard Elsie's are very similar. It's #wearthislikethis. Lol. Maybe I should have used the @ sign. Not sure. I forgot how to even post and my kid had to show me.
ReplyDeleteWould love to see your pics. Do you have the link?
Deletehttps://instagram.com/p/BAl5tTUpl_M/
DeleteKeep in mind I'm a total Instagram novice! Not sure why I couldn't crop the pic. Lol. And my lighting is terrible!!!
I also decided to get in on the blogging fun, so here's a link to that.
Deletehttp://wearthislikethis.blogspot.com/2016/01/january-15-dinner.html
@Suz welcome to Instagram! Once you get the hang of it, it's a lot of fun and there are a lot of JCAs on there. You can use an app to edit your photos for Instagram - I use Photo Grid/Instapic but there are others out there that help crop them correctly for Instagram since they have the square format - you can search your apps for Instagram photo app. And congrats on the blog too!
DeleteThanks for the tip! I will look that up!
DeleteYour pics look great, Suz! I wouldn't worry about cropping them, especially if it takes the fun out of it for you.
DeleteThanks for sharing them.
Thanks! I found an app as Anne mentioned, seems easy enough! I'm going to have fun with this. ;)
Delete@Suz Has, so glad you started posting! It was me that first asked so yay! I have the most interest in seeing them as your taste echoes mine repeatedly(reading your comments & items that I either have or would like to)... Looking forward to seeing your Rayner wide legs pants styled...
Delete@nan, I almost wore the Rayner to dinner last night but I was feeling a little slouchier so went with a different pair of jeans. Posted the pic on IG. ;)
DeleteLove the looks!
DeleteThanks!
Deleteoff topic here but I can't wait until "Looking to Vent" post coming up and need to vent now. I bought a shirt from jcrew factory item item c1196 on final sale at $15, because the price and it seems to have a good review. The product is very thin, Target quality, and it has fragrance smell and it doesn't even have a tag. I intend to leave a comment on Jcrew but didn't realize that Jcrew makes reviewing so difficult, I wrote but can not find my comments. Don't know where it went. So I have to post it here. I feel like spend $15 in a not-really-want goodwill item.
ReplyDeletehi....been there.
DeleteThat has happened to me. This past summer I received a used, white, lattice skirt with a great reddish pink stain in one of the pockets. I think whoever had it last left something in the pocket and it bled when the person washed the skirt before returning the skirt to JC. I called straight away; JC apologized, I sent it back, and JC refunded immediately. Call JC, they will take it back.
DeleteThank you. I will give a call to try, even if it is final sale.
DeleteI've returned items due to quality issues. Even if it's final sale a garment should be in acceptable condition. Over the summer I returned the sleeveless keyhole top after wearing several times because although the garment was washable, the dye ran and it looked like garbage. My store took it back without any issues.
DeleteLast summer I received a pair of jeans on FS that looked like a preschool was in charge of the dye job, and not in a fun stylish with a twist way and nothing like the product pic. I emailed CS ahead of time and received an ok to return, printed it out and took it to my B&M with no return issues. I just can't buy the FS items anymore unless I have tried them on and take the chance. Online only items should never be FS. I would absolutely contact CS even if they give you that patronizing, we will make an exception this one time, garbage answer.
DeleteThe military trench popped back in my size, so I scooped it up along with the Ava ballet flats in the pink with black trim. If all goes well these should be easy versatile basics, even if I have to wait a couple of months to wear them.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to some new merchandise, it HAS been awhile.
I got those flats and returned, but kept the black with the ivory bow. I love them but the first time I wore them, after a few minutes the leather JCrew label inside the shoe came off and now they're sticky and uncomfortable!
DeleteCaille, if you get a chance, can you comment on the pink color of your flats, please? One of the reviews mentions the color being closer to salmon, rather than a true pink, so I'd be interested to hear your thoughts (or anyone else's). TIA! :-)
DeleteI returned them because they didn't really work with my skin tone and I preferred the black. It's not salmon, but more of a dirty nude pink, lol, if that makes sense. Think about the color of girls' ballerina slippers but a little muddier. I happen to have another pair from a few seasons ago with a neon pink patent toe, and they are very similar, but slightly more frayed down, almost like a very like mauve.
DeleteCaille, I got the trench too and should receive it soon. I'm eager to see how it will look! If you haven't already seen their reviews, crazyaboutjcrew (Ema) and maqsadshop reviewed the trench on Instagram.....
DeleteSuz Has, thank you for the info about your pink ballet flats -- I somehow missed that you'd bought them in pink as well (knew you bought the black, but somehow reading comments on my phone made my eyes glaze over part of the comment!) So apologies for that, but thank you for additional info re) the pink color. I don't think they'd work for me either based on your description. (PS, I've started following your IG, looking forward to more!)
DeleteLauren, I'm eager too! I don't know why it's so hard to find a more polished jacket in military green. And TM93 when I get the flats I'll post details in the reviews thread. Hope you had a good weekend!
DeleteThank you, Caille, appreciate it! Also curious to hear about your trench - liked it since it debuted, but wasn't crazy about it not being lined (at that price point, I mean). I think you got it for a great price! It's a gorgeous design and color.
DeleteHope you had a good weekend, too!
What I'm stalking, patiently waiting to go on sale is the Collection Double-Faced Wool Vest in cedar. Been wanting to try this. Also curious about the length not working due to my height, but I saw a blogger wearing it (she's 5'3) and the length didn't look too bad on her. So there might be hope for me...hehe.
ReplyDeleteAlso to add, a JCA mentioned about off the shoulder tops on trend this coming spring/summer season. Yes! I'm totally digging it as well. That style has been a wish of mine for many years. It would be nice if J.Crew designed a top that's made of merino knit, off the shoulders, and in stripe. Yum. And very French.
One of the coldest days this winter; so what do I do? Buy a heavily discounted short sleeved sweatshirt and chambray shorts. With the additional percentage off it was too cheap to pass on.
ReplyDeleteLOL, you're just being optimistic. Nice catch. That's a great deal!
DeleteThat's great preplanning for spring/summer. :) with our Canadian dollar it's wise to buy at a good discount.
DeleteI will not be visiting the store this weekend, but I did receive the Denim Trench Dress from Madewell yesterday, and absolutely love it! I am normally a size 0 in dresses at Madewell, but knowing that the denim would have zero stretch to it, I ordered the size 2. The fit is perfect, other than the bust area, which is a tad snug if I button it up all the way, or at least have the second button fastened. I will more than likely leave it undone like the pic of the model does on the website, and sew in a hook & eye to keep it from gaping. As for the length, the dress falls just above my knee (I'm 5'5"), and is perfect for tall boots now, or sandals come springtime, depending on whether or not our spring in Montana this year is another warm one. All in all, I really like the dress and believe it will be a keeper for me.
ReplyDeleteIn other shopping related news, I've shared a bit of style inspiration via J.Crew with my own personal twist for a less spendy version of the look here: J.Crew Looks We Love... Shop It: The Real Deal or The Real Steal. :)
Melissa-I'm glad that you liked the dress! I received mine last week. For me it takes some getting used to since it's out of my minimal style (diversifying my style)...I'll have to play dress-up and see again if I'll like it.
DeleteA trip to the clearance store yielded a red chateau parka, Sloan obi bow flat(gorgeous) fabric backed Crystal cluster necklace and brown Frankie boots. Necklaces were $25.00. Also picked up a black velvet regent blazer and a couple pair of earrings. It was a good day.
ReplyDeleteGreat haul DD. I would probably go bankrupt if I lived nearby.
DeleteWow!
DeleteIt's like 90% off at times.
DeleteThat's amazing, you are so lucky to live nearby! Great finds. :)
DeleteAn open letter to Mickey
ReplyDelete(if Mickey does indeed read this)
*** I really really want to see some dresses and tops with sleeves
Many of us do not want to show our arms (esp in Jan. nevermind the summer) I hope for the best from J Crew this year....good luck Mickey. C
J. Crew used to make really nice blouses. They only make shapeless, drop shoulder sweaters, or sweatshirts with crap glued to them now. It's a sad state of affairs. Clearly there's only one person in this universe buying boxy sweatshirts with lace glued to its sleeves (currently priced at $29.99 - 50% off). Please start designing for fashionable people again, instead of Crewlade drunk lemmings who will buy any piece of crap you put out.
DeleteI saw a pair of the Roxie zebra calf hair ankle tie heels IRL at the local JC store and they are gorgeous. Size 11 50% the sale price. I think it comes to $110 plus tax. If you are looking for them, email me ohjoymorelaundry at gmail dot com. I will give you the location.
ReplyDeleteOff topic but I received an email a little while ago that the cashmere turtleneck I ordered yesterday was out of stock. The email wasn't the stock email, it was from a VPS and then also said they would be sending me a $25 gift card for the inconvenience. Oh, if we all had a $25 gift card for every time something was out of stock! That being said, it was a nice gesture and I'll take the $25 :)
ReplyDeleteAnne - I had that happen twice in December! I wonder how they decide when to give gift cards or if it's just random. Because I'd probably be able to fund an entire spring wardrobe if they gave me one for every out of stock item I ordered and had cancelled.
DeleteVery nice gesture! I ordered a cashmere turtleneck the other day and it shipped, they are a great price right now.
DeleteHappened twice to me too during the holidays.
DeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteGift cards burning a hole in my pocket! Sale section was so shopworn and sad today and I try to avoid FS. Hanging on til new arrivals.
DeleteI hope we can some nice new bags and for gosh sakes some better jewelery !
DeleteWhat are my chances of finding the Biella Mirror loafers? They appeared stocked in all sized this week....I put it on my wish list, and they quickly sold out by Saturday.
ReplyDeletePathos, if their was a full size run in stock just a few days ago then I think your chances of finding them are high. I would call a store and they will usually help you track a pair down.
DeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
DeleteI called the store I shop at in chicago and they had them in stock so a pair is being shipped. I thought online reflected warehouse and store stock level? Remember when they touted "dynamic inventory?" Good to know. :-)
DeleteWhat size? I returned a pair to a store yesterday.
DeleteWent to the smaller of my two stores w/ my giant bag of returns. The sale section was very sparse and picked over. Not much else in the store to be tempted by. Left empty handed. They really need more new merchandise. On a different note looks like most of my 50% off FS order has shipped one item per package as per the usual. It is annoying. Sick of looking like I have a massive shopping problem and also concerned about the items looking shopworn as more than likely are shipping from a store. I will keep my fingers crossed.
ReplyDeleteIf you're looking at the metallic textured dot dress that was recently cut, I reviewed it in this post. If it came in petite, I would've purchased it.
ReplyDeleteI was lucky to find the online only, drapey floral splash dress in-store. I reviewed it in this post. I ordered the boy shirt in green blue plaid. I've been over buttondowns for a long time, but they're easy.
Can't wiat for the vent thread. I'm also over jcrew.com sending me to non-US sites when I click on links in a Google search.
(that would be wait, not wiat)
DeleteI've been stalking the site for the Elsie star pumps and they pooped back in my size. Let's hope they ship. I don't usually wear blue, but I love stars and thought even with a white button down or gray sweater they would be fabulous.
ReplyDeleteAlso ordered the skinny trouser sweatpant, which I ordered a few days ago and just received a cancellation notice. I figured I'd try again!
And customer service is taking back my Ava pumps in black, because the interior label is peeling off, and got all bunched up. If I try. To take it off I will rip the lining. No issues with the return at all, so I ordered them again. I love the shape of the shoe.
Not Ava pumps, Ava ballet flats.
DeleteWeirdly, the code for the extra 40-50% off Final Sale is showing up on the site as SALEONSALE, but if you try to use it you will get a message that it has expired. I called CS who informed me that the new code is GETSHOPPING. Just in case anyone needs it!
ReplyDeleteFYI.....when we Canadians are online ordering this is what happens
ReplyDelete1. you get a order email right away
2. very short time later (mins.) you get a confirmation.
3 few days (or less ) shipping confirmation
*** have done a few of these and all arrive in one pkg and I would say it looks as though none are from stores. Have not got the dreaded "oh my god look at all the returns this lady makes...goes she keep anything" and yes I do keep a few things that actually fit and that I really really like.
wish Borderfree was faster with the $$ back to my credit card....but with the sinking loonie are prices have been stable as of late. C
I didn't end up ordering anything, just can't stomach the price difference. But I wanted to see what the discount would look like - thus my call to CS. The one or two times I have used Borderfree my experience has been the same as yours, though I'm pretty sure one item came from a store (scuffed shoe sole).
Deleteoh....i forgot the best part. final sale never applies to international orders. THANK GOD FOR THIS ONE !
DeleteYes, no final sale is fantastic and maybe the only good thing about borderfree. :)
DeleteAt first I didn't like the idea of Borderfree and the higher online Canadian prices. But being allowed to return items to the store and no final sale makes for great shopping for Canadians!!
DeleteI asked CS about store fulfilled items for Canadians and the items only come from the warehouse. I too have received things that looked like they have sat in the sale section of a store when in fact they came from the warehouse. I think the warehouse staff are missing some major defects on returned items!
There are a few striped shirts I'm looking at from the most recent roll-out, but I'm holding back on buying anything until there's a percentage-off sale on regular-priced items, or free shipping for an online-only skirt I like. Though even with free shipping, I'm not sure I'd bite, with the way the Canadian dollar is sinking right now. Otherwise, I picked up the Zip Mini Skirt in Windowpane Jacquard I'd wanted for a long time awhile ago at 50%-off final sale and the Wool Melton Toggle Coat in Heather Grass last week, but the sales sections of every J Crew here have had the same items for weeks now. Can't wait to see the next roll-out!
ReplyDelete
