Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  1. Sale purchases at B & M's are not final sale. I bought 2 items at Boston Copley, lured by the additional 60% off shoes and accessories, 50% off clothes. The SA didn't mention that the sale was final and my receipt doesn't say final sale either. I plan to keep my pink Dulci's ($40) and high rise lookout jeans ($45) and a FP midweight striped T, but glad to know that nothing is final.

Loads of petites at Copley in case anyone is looking.

    1. Hi, Cousy-how was their selection of lookouts? Lots of sizes/washes? Thanks!

      Delete
    2. Hmmm . . . I would verify this. It's my understanding that any items marked down to .99 in a store _are_ final sale items. It varies as to how much this is emphasized. Some SA's make sure to state it, others may forget. Sometimes it says "final sale" on the receipt, and sometimes it does not. And sometimes SAs take that awful red stamp and mark up your receipt (just so you know!).

    3. Hi Wendy - there were only a few pairs of the lookouts in the pile from which I plucked mine, but there were jeans all over the sale section so there might have been more available. These are a rather dark wash with very little stretch and very little whiskering.

JenniferD - we have very strict consumer laws in Massachusetts - if it doesn't say final sale on the receipt then it is definitely not final sale.

    4. Thanks for that tidbit abt final sale cousy...I had no idea that if it doesn't say final sale on the receipt then in MA they must give refund :)...good to know

      Delete
    5. I like that policy . . . can I move to MA?!?

      Delete
    6. The receipt is not what makes or breaks the MA consumer protection law. If the receipt doesn't say final sale but the bright neon orange signs in the sale section have it (fine print!) it would count as disclosing the final sale status of the item. Also, the return policy sign at the register could be verified. The law states that the customer must be informed prior to making their purchase...so if the signs say final sale and the receipt doesn't, then it is final sale.

  2. Hello! Can anyone tell me about the fit of the Collection cashmere chunky turtleneck sweater (item B7503)? I wear a petite medium in the silk camisole and a medium in the painter tee. Thank you!

    1. I really like this sweater. I'm 5'11" with long arms and the sleeves are long enough. I ordered a small and it is fairly loose (my usual weight is about 135 lbs, a little lower recently). On me it doesn't look AS slouchy as on the model, but it's not a close fit either. I normally wear smalls unless I know it is an oversized item. This really is a great sweater :)

      Delete
    2. The first time I ordered this sweater I found it to be very oversized (I ordered my usual XS size). I'm petite, so the sleeves were way too long on me, and it looked dumpy rather than slouchy and cozy. I exchanged it for an XXS, and that one was practically skintight! So I returned it and reordered another XS. That one right much better, so I'm wondering if the original XS was actually a S that was mislabeled (or maybe they accidentally sent me a S and I just didn't notice). The sleeve length was much better on the second XS, and while it was not as slouchy as it appears on the online model, I found the fit to be slightly loose. That being said, I don't think it's worth the $298 price tag. I've worn it three times, and it's pilling horribly. I've contacted CS, and they asked me to return the sweater to them to see if it can be deemed defective. If it's defective, they will refund me. If not, then I'm getting a pilled $298 sweater back. Just beware before you buy. I expected there to be a small amount of pilling, but not to the extent this one pilled. And I treated it with great care. I'm very disappointed. If you decide to order it, I hope you have better luck.

    3. I forgot to mention -- I'm 5'2" and 115 pounds. XS is my normal size in J.Crew sweaters.

      Delete
    4. I have both a XXS and a XS on this sweater (XS is my regular size). The XXS is very fitted but I like the shorter length to wear with midi skirts. The XS is slightly more relaxed but still not slouchy in any way (however, completely different from the classic turtleneck which is very fitted and longer). I have a pic of the Heather flannel (XS) on my IG (crazyaboutjcrew). HTH!

    5. Thank you everyone! I went to a brick and mortar store and got one. I like it, and I will see how much it pills.

  3. I bought the oversize gingham popover in store last night. I had a percentage off coupon and a gift card. I thought it was really cute. The jewelry was 30% off and as others have mentioned, 50% off sale and 60% off shoes and accessories. The selection at my store was terrible so didn't buy anything on sale. I did want to mention that they had two pair of the snakeskin collection Sloan D'orsay with mini bow in blue (e4477). They had a 5.5 and 6.0. They were on sale for something like $269.99 less 60% off. They were very pretty and sold out online. They are at the West Town Mall store in Knoxville, TN if anyone is interested. Made me wonder what else is out there that I might be looking for that is no longer avialable online???

    3. I Tried on the Teddie pants and bought the navy ones! They are tts with a flare at the bottom cute pants! Comparing them to Campbell capris the Teddies are a heavier cotton pants. I know Ina on IG reviewed them and said she bought the black also.

      Delete
    4. I tried on the navy blue sailor style Teddies. I found them TTS, too, though a bit short on me (I'm 5'10"). The sailor buttons looked weird on the front, but the two in the back were kinda cute.

    5. I tried the navy and pink Teddie pants on in store today - I'm usually a 12 in the Minnie/Campbell/Martie pants (14 in suiting) and the 12 in these were perfect. I preferred the navy - the pink showed all of my size 12 leg imperfections. I liked the midrise of these and they have zipper pockets. I'm 5'8" and they were a tad short and I found the flare to be a bit more pronounced than the Campbell capris. It's still winter here so I wasn't ready to pull the trigger on any full price spring stuff yet. I have the floral ones on their way to me fron an online order. I will hopefully get pics up on my blog this weekend.

      Delete
    6. Thanks so much, Anne. I am same size as you. Take 12 in Campbell. Plan to try the Teddies' this weekend. Appreciate the fit info. I'll give them a whirl!

    7. Thanks to all of you for your take on the Teddies!

    8. I tried and bought the black ones. I like the fit better on me than the Campbell. The Campbell's were too grabby in the butt area on me, not forgiving of extra trunk junk, I thought. And Campbells didn't have belt loops (non-sailor Teddies do). I wear the same size in the Teddies, Campbells, and Minnies. I like the flare/kick on the bottom of the Teddies a lot.

      Delete
    9. I needed to go with a 4 in the teddies, though my minnies are a 2. I'm slim with runner's thighs. The flare on the teddies struck me as disproportionate--too much--but I'm only 5'4", so that may have something to do with visual.

  7. received the chateau parka rain coat and I love it---got it in my normal Chateau parka size but would like to see one size down. It felt great in the shoulders but then bells out (what is that a line) at the bottom- still looked good and I figured I can still wear a sweater in early spring and in fall and even a blazer underneath.

  8. Hi everyone,
I went to the Eaton Centre location in Toronto and tried on some new items today - the navy tweed pencil skirt and moto jacket, the tweed A-line mini skirt and matching jacket, the tipped orange cardi and shell - and found nice pieces. I haven't shopped at J Crew in ages: can anyone tell me what their sale % on new arrivals is usually like, and how often it rolls around? I've been shopping at Banana Republic a lot lately and guess I have been spoilled as the whole store regularly goes to 40% off online. I don't expect that big of a percentage off from JCrew, but do you think these new arrivals items might start going on sale in the next few weeks? thnks in advance.

    1. We've been seeing 25% off new arrivals, sometimes 30% for cardholders, but that didn't happen this time...

  10. I'm not sure if this has been posted in another thread here.. After browsing the catalog today I noticed that the blazer shown on page 8 / double breasted C0577 in ivory (also comes in bright grotto) was on the sale section a few weeks ago(in both colors). I ordered after reading a glowing review from someone (not sure who was though.. @Jan maybe ?) and was quite happy when I received mine. Since has tags still attached I can confirm that is the same item. With the percentage off I think it came to $40.
Interesting is that the day after I ordered mine, the item disappeared from sale section ..I thought it had sold out but a day or two after, it was there again, available in all sizes in both colors. Probably another oversight as with Kiki's.

    1. Oh boy! Wonder whether whoever is in charge of maintaining the website might really get in trouble for this kinda of mix-up! I can see it happening on one type of item, but more than one? Yikes! Anyways, good for you! I just saw the blazer you're talking about, seems like a really nice piece.

      Delete
    2. I noticed that and thought I might be going crazy.
I think they move things around a bit. Sometimes I see stuff reintroduced in a new color, and then the old colors that were on sale go back to full price again.

      Delete
    3. @TM93, I definitely hope no one gets in trouble over this. And just to add to it, if you scroll up and find a conversation between @wellfedfred ,@ema and @milljcrew you will see that there was a third glitch...on a much more expensive item. Oh boy indeed!

      Delete
    4. OMG, Nan, I just saw that conversation between them about the red loafers, I can't believe that! Wonder what's going on with the website in general because I've noticed odd pricing here and there, not just with the more serious underpricing issue, but also with putting only the Regular price of an item on sale, while Petite and Tall remain stubbornly at full price (Rhodes Houndstooth blazer). I called CS to confirm the price disparity and they said that was indeed the case. Still, I thought that was unusual.

Anyways, I certainly hope no one gets in trouble for this kind of thing nonetheless! It's just surprising that it's happening to this degree in the first place! :-O

  11. Went into my store today to return the defective pair of Ava flats and also, after much deliberation I decided to return the black wool patio pant with leather stripe. I put them on today to actually try and wear them and felt like they just did nothing for me. Figured while the tags were still on and it wasn't past the return period, just do it.

Anyway, of course I ventured into the sale section and found a pair of collection calf hair ankle boots, item e1188, in a box marked 8.5. Squeezed them on. Ends up, they were an 8 and not in the right box, but they actually fit and were cute. With the additional percentage off they came out to $80! In particular I like the ivory background and the pointy toe. (Now to obsess how to style them!) I'm less of an ankle boot person these days, with skinnies I prefer knee height and although I have a few other ankle boots they don't see as much rotation on my feet, but these are gorgeous.

  12. Visited Madewell. Extra 30% off sale items. The SF store is stocked full of sale merchandise--jeans, sweaters, shirts...

Also visited J.Crew to see the new stuff. Meh. Nothing caught my eye. As mentioned, not much to like personally, since its too early in the Spring. Maybe next month's roll-out or in March would be better.

Saw and tried the new sunglasses. Substantial and good quality--looks expensive. Since I am not familiar with companies that make sunnies, Marchon (Is that how its spelled?), seems like a good brand. I think I tried the Sam and the Ryan, both framed my face nicely.

  13. I stopped in and bought the Teddie pants, in black (not sailor). These fit me perfectly. The crop is exactly where I want it (I'm 5'4"). And they have belt loops, which I think the Campbell Capris didn't.

Hi Cate.I was wondering what shoes you are planning on wearing with the Teddies?I bought them and tried them on with my sloans other flats and it looked good but in all the pictures on the website most of the models have heels on with them.I think I will try my kitten heels also with them since I am 5'8 I think higher heels will make them look like short pants.Any suggestions would be great!

    5. Hi Mary G, good question. Most likely a pointy flat, maybe suede Sloan D'Orsay flats or Harper leopard flats. Maybe in spring, those blue and white striped flats (I don't own them yet) or my Lillian wedges. I think kitten heels would look great with them, but I don't wear heels. I have to try them with some shoes and see if I come up with other ideas.

  14. The sale here (I generally go to the Eaton Centre and Yorkville locations) is still 50%-off clearance (including accessories, so no 60%-off where I am), final sale (which it seems like it always is in Canada?), and full-price jewellery is 30%-off. Both locations' sales section seemed pretty shopped out, with nothing new added recently.

I picked up three sale bracelets (one was a bit pricey for what it was even with an extra 50%-off, but the other two were only $8 each in the end, and I appreciated finding bracelets small enough to fit my wrists at all) and a back-up plain cotton black tank top. When there was free shipping earlier in the week, I ordered the Mini Skirt with Grosgrain Ribbon, since the dress version didn't work for me, and hopefully it works out when it was a final sale online exclusive I couldn't try out first. And I bought the retail Tri-Buckle Waist Belt from a few years ago off eBay. I'm a little worried about the size, as small is bigger than I'd usually wear, but it's a belt, so I'm sure it'll be workable if it's too big.

    3. Would love to know what you think of the Mini w/ the Grosgrain Ribbon -- the dress version of that one worked on me and I loved that fabric/style so much that I happily ordered the skirt, only to find that it looked too costumey on me, flared out too much in an unflattering way on my petite frame (short legs/regular torso).

      Delete
    4. Sure thing, TM93! I wrote a review in the latest review post. I didn't have too much of a problem with odd flaring (I'm also petite in height, though I think I'm long legs/short torso), but I did think it looked frumpier and more wrinkled (from all the micropleats) than I thought it would be based on the photograph online.

  18. Went for price adjustments and to check out new arrivals since there was the New Now Event. Event was meh; couldn't tell there was anything going on. Did pickup oversize gingham popover since I had gift cards. Wantsd to try on chateau trench, but store hadn't received it yet. Picked up some sale earrings, including the Jenna earrings; they were $20 & I was cool with that price given their construction. Nothing was FS. Planning to wear for date night. OT, Zara is having a crazy end of season sale. Picked up cashmere sweaters for $23. They also have a dupe of the Alexa Chung Pixie dress that retailed for $325. That style was too expensive & too short for me. Wore Zara's $20 version today with flats. Temps in 70s today so it's feeling a little like spring.

  19. An online order arrived today with the Tipped wool Jackie cardigan, the sleeveless silk popover in Deco Floral, and the Collection Secretary Bow Blouse in Dalmatian.

Love the sleeveless silk popover. Gorgeous colors. Fits TTS (am usually a 10 in tops). Pulls slightly at the button placket (am a 36DD for reference), not enough that I would consider a deal breaker. Even unbuttoned an extra button, it lays flat and closed, which took care of the slight pull. Length is slightly longer in back than at front. Looked good with my jeans and with a pair of dress pants. Keeping!

The Collection Secretary blouse. This is a lovely piece - silk feels nice, drape of the sleeves is well done, pattern is fun and modern looking. However -- the v-neck is too low for me -- can see my bra, and it pulls a bit at the shoulder if I move my arms over my head, making me concerned I could tear it. For the price, can't justify keeping it with the concerns. Return.

The tipped wool Jackie -- I got this in a large and the large is probably correct but feels shrunken. It's short (just at my hip) and I just couldn't get it to look right over the tees and blouses that I had in mind to wear it with. It's lovely to look at and the wool is nice (I wear merino all year because my office is always cold). I just can't get it to fit in with my wardrobe. Return.

  21. OT: No trip to J.Crew for me, but we did recently have an H&M open up in Missoula, so I decided to check out their new arrivals online to see if a road trip might be warranted. I've shared my personal picks on my blog today: Now at H&M: New Arrivals & Free Shipping on Orders of $50+ Take a Peek at My Personal Picks. The last time I was in one of their stores was several years ago when I lived in Florida. 22. Ah, J Crew you are making it so easy to save money. Stopped by and was not impressed with the new arrivals. Left with a pair of sale tights. But I will say, if anyone is looking for sale items, call Cherry Creek, CO store. They either have a very lax return policy or lousy inventory system. I always have found items from prior seasons, collection items not carried in store and random pairs of shoes in various sizes. Last night was no exception. Sale items were 40% off. These maybe also coming from the Aspen store where I have been told they carry a mixed collection of items to cater to the tourists.

    2. Agree! Only a select few sale items have any extra %off today online. Of course the sale item I am interested in is back in stock today with nearly a full size run. With free shipping today I would have definitely ordered. Sad trombone for sure.

    3. Nothing in the Sherway sale section even worth looking at, especially at 30% - and with no sale perks on regular price merchandise, I didn't even bother trying anything. Liked the look of the oversize-plaid popover but not touching it at $102. Was in the Yorkdale location last week, sale room was stuffed full, think all the clearance stuff gets sent there - but still nothing I wanted!

    4. I dropped by the Eaton Centre store during a break today to see if there was anything new in the sale section after last week's new arrivals, and I was also surprised to see that sale is only 30%-off now, and there was absolutely nothing new added, even with the new roll-out. I had been thinking about getting the yellow matte Chelsea rainboots (I have the olive green ones already, but like the brighter yellow for spring), but not at that price.

Also, does anyone know what's up with 25%-off on select full-price items in-store? There were some items on my wishlist that were marked as such online, but I saw no marketing or signage for it in-store, so even though the fine print online says it's also in-store, I wasn't sure what was going on with that.

    1. Have you called a store to ask them to check inventory on the size you want? They found a blouse for me this weekend that online CS thought was sold out. Good luck!

    2. hmm that's a tricky one...I felt the loafers ran long not large...and I'm a true 8.5-- so I ordered the 8 to compare and the toe break (where the toes flex as you walk) was really uncomfortable for me, width too tight and still felt long (but not as long as the 8.5) I kept the 8.5 even though i slip out of them if I walk too fast-- I may get a heel pad or something to keep them in....so it's a tough one...if they are not on final sale maybe go up to test and return if it doesn't work out.

    2. I was disappointed too, weak deals.

But I found a fix over at BR; 50% off sale and it shopped free.
