Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

    1. Hi Rose, thank you for posting the previews. I can't wait to see the November style guide.

    2. Items from the preview ( tired shell,back-zip sweater and cardi) reviewed on my IG.

    3. @InaMack, that would be the tiered shell, right? It would be sad to get a brand new but already tired shell:)

  2. For Canadian JCAs - I was just told that stores have increased their prices as of today to be in line either online prices. I haven't confirmed with a store yet. I've noticed that some items online changed to lower prices this past week or so (ie buffalo check boy shirt decreased from $130 to $118). However some online prices increased too such as the toothpick jeans in flint.
Shopping in a store def just got more expensive but at least some online prices came down to what looks like a fair price when you factor the crappy exchange rate.

    1. ^should say "to be in line with online"

    2. Yes prices have increased in my store in Ottawa. I was there today and noticed that items I purchased recently have all gone up in price. The lower part of the price tag was removed and a new sticker with the new price is attached on the tag.

The sale section was an additional 40% off and I only picked up the micro pleated skirt in navy. Then I went to Aritzia and spent a few hundred dollars on silk and wool items, all regular price. Only way j crew might get me back is with a return to high quality, because then I might not mind paying the higher prices.

    3. The nail in the coffin. Our prices were higher than the US ones even when our dollar was on par, so hiking them now just seems to add a whole new level of insult, financially speaking. I used to go in once a week, but that slipped to once a month this year, and now will probably become an unusual trip. The design and quality are overall just not worth the exorbitant CAD prices imo. I find I walk right by JCrew now as I am bored with their product and can get similar pieces elsewhere for less. Rather sad as I was a true fan.

    4. Okay....now I am seriously trying to curb my J Crew addiction. as said above our prices were always higher before the increase....J Crew is going to fail in Canada. Mark my words Mickey...we may be polite but were not stupid.

    5. I feel like US retailers need to be sensitive to what the market can bear. It's not like we suddenly got 30% richer since January!
Too high and you better have quality to match to have a hope of succeeding. J Crew isn't there.
I would have loved to add a few of the new Jackie colours to my wardrobe, but they're not worth it. With a recent promo of free shipping and 25% off they were still almost $80!
And I couldn't buy them in stores stateside. Dumb.

    6. Possibly the only thing J.Crew might take notice of is the connection between lower sales and the suddenly higher prices.

All of us understand that a retailer needs and wants to earn profits. But the successful ones give a strong sense of value for what we pay for. Over the past year J.Crew has created a climate of the regular price is not to be paid, wait for a sale. This tells the customer their items are over priced from the start. This added to some poor designs and changes in quality are causing troubles for them and us.

I'm thankful the men's side is strong but concerned that the poor performing women's will continue to cause difficulties.

  3. The NY stores are again withholding the new catalog, which seems to be available, at least on request, in many locations west of here. I've seen paint dry faster than the pics load on Pinterest. Thanks to the JCAs who posted pictures! I don't handle curiosity well.

    1. i get annoyed at the snail's pace they upload pics to pinterest. i mean, if other people are beating you to the upload, what's the point? you're not really generating desire at that point... you're just annoying your customers.

    2. Or why not load the women's first, how it is on the style guide. So lame JCrew.

    3. I was going to go yesterday during lunch but absolutely knew the store wouldn't give me a catalog, so I went to Gap instead. Whatever, JCrew.

    4. I would love to know who to follow for these new pics! JCREW is too slow for my tastes...

    5. @Jane, if you look at this past Thursday's "Looking to Love with J Crew' post, you can find silver_lining's post, which links to pix on her photos of the style issues that she posted on her IG. A sneak preview!

    6. I got mine in the mail today (Friday). I simply can not understand stores withholding it. Do you want us to shop (and buy) your merch or not?

      Delete
    7. Also since my catalog delivery is unreliable {after 20+ years why??} I can't imagine that I am the only one so why not share them in store if they are there. Stores like the Gap or Loft would probably staple them to me if I wanted one.

    8. I've had a similar experience - long time JC customer and catalogue subscriber and recently my catalogues have been MIA.
Kinda disappointing, as I really look forward to them every month.

  4. I did go by the store yesterday since I had not been to check out the latest markdowns. I bought the embroidered square scarf (c7361) in navy ivory that went down from $49.99 to $39.99 less 40%. I am wearing it today with a stripe tee and my cropped trench coat (so old, can't remember what season) dark skinnies and leopard gemmas. I copied the look from a blog, West Coast Capri. She has the best style and wears a lot of J.Crew and Madewell. Check it out, it will make you want to get the scarf, the tassels really make it!

    2. I wish, she has two and they are adorable. Last year, she had some adorable denim overalls in one of her posts and as it turned out, her aunt has a clothing truck. I ordered a pair from her and I love them.

  6. This is OT: I read a Hollywood gossip column (heh, don't judge me please) that occasionally solves its blind items. Here's an item that was "solved" this week.

    February 11, 2014

This A list designer from a brand everyone wears couldn’t get any top celebrities to appear at her show. She also got ticked off at reporters asking her questions about everything other than her designs and walked off and threw a water bottle when out of sight, but not out of hearing of the reporters.

    3. oh Jenna ....whats going on ? are you hanging on to a sinking ship (J Crew) abandon ship girl !!!

    4. I doubt that's Jenna acting like that. She's part of the CFDA committee. I'm sure she has to show some level of professionalism when being interviewed. Wouldn't want to upset Anna Wintour.

  8. I've been looking at army green chinos at the Crew and Factory but just hadn't ordered yet. Not sure of size or how they fit....so I just wasn't wanting the hassle. Yesterday I ran into Macy's to take advantage of the Clinique gift w/purchase and thought I check to see if they had any cute army green chinos. Score! Tommy Hilfiger. Perfect length, great fit, nice fabric. slim fit. Since I lost weight all my chinos were too big, so I bought green, khaki, a nice chestnut color that looks great with my Campbell tweed blazer and navy. They were normally $59.50 (already cheaper that the Crew), then 25% off, then I had a $40.00 Macy's cash card to spend. So in the end they were $23. 46 a pair. Yah. I love Macy's!

    1. This is a great tip, thank you, Stray Cat -- I, too, am in the market for new chinos, so this is great. I found 2 pairs that I liked at Loft, but their color selection is a bit limited and I'd really like a pair in army green. I tried the cargo pants on at J. Crew and while I love their colors (my favorite thing about JC is their color selections & variety), I wasn't crazy about the Petite fit. I work near a Macy's so will go on at lunch one of these days. They have great sales.

    2. Anthropologie Hyphen chinos are also nice, if you're still looking.

  9. This Gilt City voucher is making me go a little crazy... do you guys have any reviews for the following:
    factory double suede loafers
    factory metallic stacked heel loafers
    factory embroidered front tee
    factory pleated merino skirt

If only the voucher worked in stores too...I would take a drive to Woodbury Commons to try and score some other deals...

    1. I just used my voucher at a store no problem. I just had to print it off bit since there's no scan code I'm sure they could just get the code off your phone. Maybe if you call ahead and see if they will honor it?

    2. I've also used the Gilt city coupons in store with my phone. Does it say online only? Maybe call ahead like Violet suggested...

    3. Oh...I don't know... I thought it said one code at jcrewfactory.com. Glad you guys were able to use it in stores! I'm gonna call and check!

  12. Went to the clearance store this morning because I knew they had a pair of Cabarnet suede sloans. Also picked up the fresh strawberry suede d'orsay loafers (awesome) and earrings were dirt cheap. I also found the new Paillette necklace and it is gorgeous. I had not seen the wool Jackie but bought the parsley green for a song and I really like it.

  13. the patio pant....looks like (on pinterest ) JCrew is embracing them. new ones are in suede and the new large floral print. I tries the wool ones on recently. not for me. I am 5'5". they hit my leg at an odd part. really cuts me off. not very nice on me. I love them on the models....maybe heels are definitely required to pull off the look. C from Canada.

    1. They look nice on the models but the pair I tried on was too booty-grabbing. Unless they've changed them, it's another J. Crew pants trend I'm sitting out. I didn't mind the length (I'm a little shorter than you), but I think you're right about heels being better with them. A pointy flat should work too, if the pants length is right.

  14. so far on pinterest....my thoughts are
    - jewellery is not to my taste ( I do want to see the wide cuff IRL..might be good!
-a few new longer skirt ( yeh !
-at 5'5" a do not like the wide cropped pants on me...love them on taller ladies
    -dresses...with sleeves...were there any dresses?
-shoes, bags and boots...a few new colors and prints but same style if I am correct/
-a few smiling models (still messy hair is still in...I guess?)
I am getting better at not having such high expectations of J Crew at the new roll outs. But this one does have potential.I hope on line there is alot more to see...

If your looking for a new coat this year....definitely don't wait as long as I did.

    3. I've always wanted a minimal coat in a camel color. The topcoat they made this year is the Regent style. I might order it when its released this Tuesday. I hope it looks good enough to keep, regardless of the standing collar.

This is more my style... Grey/Camel = yum!
