Sought & Found: Did you visit J.Crew this {past} Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopped by a J.Crew store this past weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store was/ is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

  1. I went and browsed. I have to say I am having "trust" issues with J. Crew now. I like some things but I don't trust the quality and I don't trust that the price I pay will be fair. I also don't trust that Mickey et al really respects their customers.

My money went to Lands End this weekend. Ponte wrap dress, fisherman sweater, deep hunter green suede heels.

    1. I agree. I've seen a decline in the quality of a lot of J.Crew items this season. I'm only buying things that are well made and deserve the price tag.

I will say that I'm impressed with Factory's quality lately. Their sweaters are very soft and the excursion vests/jackets are on par with retail. I'm not seeing that huge gap in quality. Their prices are A LOT better too.

    3. I feel that it may be the same sentiments in JCAs lately. I remember when we were all very excited at new rollouts, there were many posts on the looking to sell with JCA's "sub"bing the posts and many looking to find, and many online reviews and posts of outfits. I feel that we are all losing the trust with JCrew and as a result moving and looking elsewhere. I have also ordered more from Factory lately too and actually bought some old school jcrew from eBay since the quality was better. I was hoping to get their cashmere sweaters on sale but after reading negative reviews on decline in quality compared to ones that others have owned in past, I balked too and wondered if price and quality were matching. Oh well- every retailers have their highs and lows. I hope they will get it together and get back to their pinnacle. (I'm not even liking our recently remodeled B&M- feels cramped and sparse inventory that it's deterred me from visiting) sorry this should be in a vent section!

    4. I'm wearing a yellow jacket from LE that always makes me feel great and it gets tons of compliments. LE has certainly improved and it worth a look for basics.

I'm moving more toward Anthro though - not everything is my taste but nothing is ho-hum. I'm really, really bored with J Crew. The last rollo-out showed incremental improvement, but the colors and prints just aren't there.

    5. A few years ago I read an article about "cost per wear" and started tracking my own purchases & wears. (#yesiamageek) With the exception of perfect-fit tees and wool no. 2 pencil skirts, I'm only getting 20-25 wears out of JC items, regardless of cost or material, before they self-destruct. BR Factory items are proving to be the best "value" for me recently.

  3. I went by the store for the first time in about 2 weeks. I picked up the merino v-neck cardigan that just went on sale in the lemon zest. I want this to layer under a blazer or a coat for just a little pop of color. When I took it to the desk, the SA said they just loved this cardigan because it was cotton. Hello....merino is wool not cotton. They actually didn't believe me and double checked the tag. Yes, I am right and Yes, I know your merchandise way better than you do!

    2. ha, that's so funny. Every time I go in a store I feel so much more educated about the merch than most of the SAs -- mostly because of all the great info I get here on JCA! I walk around and think in my head "oh, there's the dress that JCA X tried on" and "there's the sweater that JCA Y said was awful" etc etc.

  4. Ina mentioned new merch rolls out on the 19th at stores, but does anyone know when the online roll-out will be? I thought its next week, since it will be a month from the last roll-out...but I could be wrong.

  5. Went to my local store (Copley Boston) yesterday. They now have petites! Thank God. I tried on the donegal wool dress in P0 - it was too short for my taste (I'm 5-2), and it was a-line and not sheath-like on me. The 0 regular was a nice length but still a-line. I also tried on the rufflle hem fdress in burgundy- size 0 was very loose but the dress is so pretty and the fabric was nice.

This a big store - lots of cashmere on the sale rack. Tons of merch but only two things that were worth trying on for me. The jewelry was 30% off - and all so hideous!

    2. I know. It's all so tacky and uninspired. I don't even look anymore. Even the shoes, which used to be a staple for me have become really lackluster.

  6. I visited a store today on my lunch break. Saw a gorgeous new leopard Tippi that is calling my name. Not much else caught my eye, though. The sale section is overflowing with summer tees and tanks. They really need to get rid of that stuff. 30% off final sale is not moving the merchandise. I'll wait for the holiday roll out and continue to shop my closet.

  7. Visited my local store, which has been open for over a year now, but I've only been to a few times as it's not a convenient location for me. The sale section was small and crappy, mostly t-shirts and tanks as shopalot mentioned, and a few (as in 6) dresses. But the sad thing was, the same Ecru denim jacket from a month ago, still at $145 CAD, less the 30% off clearance. Really? When I tried it on in August, it was $145 with 40% or maybe even 50% off. Now, in October, I'm going to pay more for a spring/summer item? Sheesh! So, nothing for me today, not even anything I wanted to try on.
