  1. A negative turned into a positive -- I ordered one of the white Applicata candlesticks on popback -- I had regretted not ordering a second, and had to have it shipped a US address in order to do so (shipping this item to Canada was not permitted). So, I finally picked it up this past weekend, and unfortunately, the candlestick had a huge gouge in the top. The packaging and shipping box were fine, so I knew it was a defective product. I didn't realize this until I got home to Canada. So I contacted CS, and they were extremely gracious -- they refunded me the entire amount, and told me to not bother shipping the item back, saying she hoped I could still use it, as the item is no longer available I thought this was a wonderful way to handle the situation, and I was really grateful for it. I won't be able to repair the candlestick, but I can still display it on a shelf, as it looks fine from a distance, which is better than nothing. Way to go on this one, J. Crew!

    1. There is a white applicata candlestick on popback in the home section right now, maybe you could exchange it for the defective one...hth!

  2. After missing the Lady Day in retro pink 2 years ago, I was excited when it popped up in the sale section a few days ago. So excited, in fact, that I forgot that I 100% NEED petite sizing in that coat, and ordered 2 of the coats in size 0, both for final sale (also had to get the dark camel- for $140, I couldn't pass it up). Well they arrived and they look ridiculous, just way too big. Then I noticed that retro pink was brought back in the petite sizing, for full price (I paid $202). I called and CS took the final sale off both of the size 0s, and then exchanged the retro pink for a P2 while honoring the price I paid, instead of the full price that was on the site at that time. It's backordered, but it was such a relief to get to return $342 worth of useless coat!

    1. What a relief, glad things worked out for you! J. Crew's customer service has been very accommodating with me the few times I've needed them, too. Incidentally, I'm actually in need of a day coat (my old trusted one from Banana is past its prime) and I like the colors the J Crew one comes in but was wondering about the fit so that's why I didn't buy it yesterday. Is your coat size the same as your dress size with J. Crew?

    2. No, I had to size up. I usually wear a petite 0 in dresses and in the lady day, I have to have a petite 2. This is with minimal layering as well. I have an older stadium cloth duffle coat that I use with sweatshirts on cold days, that's a P4. Well this year, when I went to get a similarly-styled wool melton toggle coat in P4, it looked huge. It's all kind of trial and error. But totally worth it- essentially my whole coat collection with the exception of a North Face puffer, are all J Crew.

    3. Really good to know, thanks for the detailed tips!! I'll know to size up (or order 2 different sizes.) I think the color i want is out of stock right now, but I'm adding it to my wishlist.
