  1. Too many exclusions. Has anybody tried the wool boatneck sweater (e1383)? I like the neckline, but can't tell if the body is Tilly-short.

    1. I ordered it in the green color. I'll post a comment once I receive it. Good thing I ordered it during the 40% off promo for cardmembers, now its down to 30%.

    2. I bought the wool boatneck sweater in the navy and the sea salt. I returned the sea salt but kept the navy. Nothing wrong with the white version I just didn't love it... but the navy is a great basic to wear with dark denim and a scarf. The boatneck is not too pronounced, it doesn't extend over the bra strap area. I found the sleeves just long enough and I like the ribbing. I can't do a short sweater and this is the perfect hip length on me (I'm just under 5'7").
I ordered the xs and the fit is perfect, so I would say it is not oversized.
I am suspicious of how the seams will hold up as they look slightly messy on the interior, however the merino wool is a lovely knit, really soft and warm without being too bulky, but it's substantial.
I was planning to review it here after I wash it this weekend to see how it holds up. The wool seems very good quality however so I have high hopes.

    3. I can recommend the similar style, ribbed boatneck tunic (item e1382), if you're concerned about body length.
I found it to be rather oversized and had to size down to XXS (opposed to XS).
The body length was perfect and not short at all. As DaniBP noted, the boatneck is neither too large nor too small. It is cozy and definitely a keeper.

  2. OT: I'm looking for a new VPS. Mine was great but was recently promoted and I was assigned someone new who has not returned any of my emails... My closest B&M is over 2 hours away so I rely pretty heavily on my VPS. TIA

  4. I bit - I'd been looking for another burgundy flat as I've worn my Factory Anya pair to death & I really liked the looks of the Georgie loafer in cabernet. That + the jeweled front tee, both 40% off AND 6% ebates today... not too shabby!

    1. Taylor, I just got the Georgie in Cabernet, of course had to wait ages for them to ship and arrive. But totally worth the wait. They are true to size for me, comfortable right away, a big requirement for me. I wore them this morning, without socks and no issues at all. Hope u like them

    2. Yay, glad to hear it! I'm finding myself reaching for those cabernet Anya flats constantly so I am excited to have another option. I just love how loafers look with ankle pants.

  5. Another trek to the clearance store this morning and several good finds...Leopard Gemma (went up 1/2 size) Black Suede Sloan D'orsay ( I am obsessed with this shoe) Couple pair of statement earrings, two shirts and the utility vest from last year (b2820). The vest is sort of different, but I like it. I also got the striped jewel front tee today that I ordered this week on sale, that Taylor mentioned. It is fabulous, however the packaging was not. It came from a store naturally.

    1. Wow, another round of great finds! I "need" to get back to the Lynchburg store soon. So good to hear that the jeweled stripe tee is awesome! I feel like it will go with so much in my wardrobe.

    2. The jewels are fabulous but I haven't tried it on yet. Out of the bag, it is great. Hope you enjoy yours!!! Lynchburg always has a better selection than Arden, I bet you would find some good stuff. I was shocked at how many current shoes they had. The two I got were only $28.00 per pair. I just have no willpower but I have so many shoes, I need to quit.

    3. @DD and Taylor- I so wish I could visit a clearance store, I love hearing about your great finds!

    4. How are the black suede sloan d'orsay shoes at the clearance center when they are full price + 30% off with promo online retail? Don't even tell me what you paid for them, I might cry, lol!!

      Delete
    5. Never mind, I just saw you paid $28! Holy cow, what a deal!

    6. The clearance store is just hit and miss. This was the only pair of these they had and just happened to be my size. All the flat shoes are $40.00 no matter the retail, except Collection shoes are more. Everything is just a set price, then usually a discount. Shirts were $25.00, sweaters are $30.00, etc. Jewelry is awesome there. Earrings are $20.00 and statement necklaces are either $40.00 or $45.00 I think.

    7. DD and Taylor, just realized an upcoming trip will put me within three hours of the Arden store-do you think it's worth that drive? I don't usually buy JC jewelry, so it would be clothing only. I understand it could be a total bust, just curious for your opinions. :) Thanks!

    8. I usually always find more than I need. I really enjoy going, Asheville is right there and is an awesome town to visit in addition to the clearance store.

    9. Wendy - yes to what DD said. I've never been to the Arden store but Asheville is awesome! :)

  6. I received the Dulci Suede Kitten Heels but have a question for JCAs who own them - do you find they have a lot or too much toe cleavage? It's funny, toe cleavage has never bothered me on any other heels but I feel like it's a lot on these dulcis and can't remember if it was the same when I tried them in store. I bought the neon orchid which I love so I really want them to work, don't know if I'm just being silly or if they look weird on me? I took my usual size which is a tad long but they feel comfortable as 1/2 size down was uncomfortably tight across my toes.

    1. Hmmm, I know what you mean, jan. I tried them in a 6.5 and 7. The 6.5 were too squishy in the toes and had very noticeable toe cleavage. I sized up to a 7, and they were too big. If the 6.5 had felt comfortable, I could have put up with a little toe cleavage. The neon orchid is gorgeous.

    2. @IslandGirl, thank you for your input! I was wondering if I was the only one that seems to be between sizes. The lovely color has me drinking the crewlade and hoping they don't stretch in my regular size. :)

  7. there were a few items in my size this morning as I browsed the sale section. I phoned CS ....and told them I can't possibly do final sale as I have never tried these items.....they put me on hold . final sale waived. chances are 50/50 I will be returning so it was worth the try. C

  8. I'm really interested in the collection mini cable cashmere sweater but I don't want to buy a one-season sweater. Does anyone have any experience with it? Does it turn into a pill-laden mess after a couple of wears?

  9. The Banana Republic Aiden D'Orsday Flats in Black Rose ($98 + 40% off) are a good dupe for the Sloans in Cabernet. Side by side comparison pics here.

    1. I liked the Aidens when I saw them in store earlier today! The black rose color is pretty in person. Tried them on and found that they run a little big.

  10. Any JCAs try the new majesty coat? Very very split reviews and the reviewers seem to love or hate...

    1. I did yesterday and actually really liked it- I was a bit leery after reading all the bad reviews but it was nice! Fit seemed a little more streamlined and less boxy than the old version. The blue color was a-mazing and I have it wishlisted!

    2. I have mixed feelings about the majesty coat. The short answer is that I ended up returning it. I ordered grey and black. I already have navy and the black ended up being too close in color to justify keeping it.

I wish the grey was a little darker, but I was willing to keep it if the look was there. Those new, higher pockets they added is what turned me off. If you're busty, the pockets add visual weight -- depending on where they hit in relation to where your chest falls. They're functional and I might actually use them, but it was an unnecessary addition, imo. They should've made the flap pocket a dual pocket where you can slip your hands in the sides -- instead of adding slip pockets at the chest. Hope this makes sense without pics. I will try to put a review up. FWIW, I got it on super sale during a crossover and ended up not keeping it.

    3. thank you ladies; wanted to see if the new version, with the gorgeous color options, was worth trying with the pretty good sale price it's now at. After reading your comments, I'm thinking not. My biggest concern was with the pocket changes and for my body type (non-waisted, so a more fitted version is not a plus for me!), I agree with Gigi that the new pockets will just be less functional (new flap pockets) and unflattering (smaller higher pockets) for me... Thank you ladies; saved me a purchase and return!
