Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  1. Very likely I will be.

    Some reviews here.

  2. I went to my B&M last night, the store was pretty empty considering the recent new arrivals, a lot of Martie pants and the turtlenecks, no Jackie or Cambridge Cable sweaters. Only a few dresses, even the sale section was sparse. It seemed like they had less merchandise spread out over a wider space. Also plenty of sweatshirts. They were running the 40% off sale but I noticed that some of the items which were already marked down online + 40% were not marked down in the store. They had their original price.

  3. I am heading back over to the clearance store tomorrow. I have not been to my local store in 2 weeks. That is a record for me. I usually stop in at least once a week just to see what's going on and check out the sale rack. There is just nothing there right now that I am willing to spend the money for. I am finding so many goodies at the clearance store that I am just not interested.

  4. I stopped in yesterday to see about the structured flutter-hem tee (c0770) - when I previously tried the black on in store it fit great, so I ordered the grey one online. When that one came, it had dropped shoulders and was HUGE. The online reviews mention that there are two "batches" of this item: the spring summer one with the fit issues and the fall one that's better. Unfortunately, they both have the same item number so if you place an order online, how do you know what you're going to get? I'm going to have to let that one go.

As I looked around the store, I felt a lot of the items (I remember Gigi talking about this way back when). When I started shopping there almost 10 years ago, I remember thinking how great the clothes felt and how I wished I could afford to shop there frequently because I wanted everything. Yesterday, there was so much slippery polyester, thin jeggings, rough jackets. The sweaters that were soft were that awful wool/nylon/viscose blend. I saw the metallic mixed-tweed dress (e1568) and it seemed like it did not belong in JC. The whole experience just bummed me out. Guess that means I don't need anything new! ; )

    1. @silver_lining I had the very same experience yesterday. I went to check out campbell blazer with the suede elbow patches, which is a lot more muted IRL, and really didnt like the feel of so many of the pieces. All of which were all at ridiculously high starting price points for what you are getting. Today I am wearing a collection tweed blazer from Fall 2012 and it feels so good! It has such beautiful buttons, gorgeous colours and wonderful fabric. I have been leaving empty handed on the last couple of trips and I am starting to think I need to stop wasting my time by even going!

    2. Agreed. I was bringing out my fall stuff the other day and found a bronzed ochre double-serge wool pencil skirt from Fall 2011 with the tags still on (I was 8 months PG at the time and bought is a backup to the one I got in '10). I wore it yesterday and it was fabulous. They just don't make them like that anymore.

    3. I haven't worn my Factory downtown field jacket in a while (it's probably 3-4 years old) and put it on today. The quality is great. Even Factory used to be good quality. I also have a couple of very nice winter coats from Factory from before J. Crew started the cost-cutting trend. Fabrics and construction have definitely changed.

    4. +1. Pulled my Harriet Coat out of the closet today while doing a winter closet inventory. Beautiful cashmere and exquisite pi pings and linings. It's five years old and pristine.

  5. OT: Did any JCAs manage to snag items from the Uniqlo-Lemaire collab? Almost everything was sold out already when I checked the site at 6am. So sad -- looked like there were some lovely pieces!

    1. No luck for me. The two things I wanted were completely sold out. :(

    2. I was able to grab the wool wrap sweater because I love a sweater that looks like a bathrobe. Everything else I was interested in was already gone. Very disappointing - I've had this rollout on my calendar ever since I first read about it.

    3. I've been refreshing religiously this evening since I read they'd be restocking various items. I'm *dying* for the belted dress in red or navy. I managed to snag a Milano Rib Skirt in black on restock, which was exactly what I wanted. Now if only I could nab that dress, too.

    4. They've been restocking the Lemaire but not at predictable intervals so I haven't yet caught the items I want. I'll keep trying. From the reviews I've heard the quality is great and the prices are very good. I would wear Lemaire's own if I could afford it!

    6. There's a refresh right now. Just nabbed a Lambswool Long Cardigan in navy (w/belt). This is really trying on the nerves; if I didn't want that belted dress so much, I wouldn't care.

  6. Just wanted to mention that I am wearing the khaki utility jacket today with some toothpicks, pink and blue plaid flannel boy shirt and my bluebird suede sloan d'orsays. I love all these pieces. If you can find the jacket, get it. Also, the shoes are awesome and so cute.I want the cabernet next!

  7. I will go this weekend, but it's just for online returns and price adjustments. Found some really good buys during the online sale this week @ 30% off and no final sale. I've previously mentioned that I continue to find really good buys @ J Crew if I just wait it out. Took advantage of several popbacks this week: cashmere rib trim scarf from Holiday 13, collection merino wool leather front sweatshirt Fall 14, Campbell pants with leather tuxedo stripe Fall 14, heather acorn wool pencil skirt Fall 14, strappy middy chambray dress (looove) and Collection Italian Chambray Popover (Alexis referenced this beauty during a summer roll out) and tassel sandals in black (so cute & have them in cognac too; despite reviews, no issues for me with fit). Everything fits well and was a great price; @ least 65% off or more. I wouldn't pay $250 for the chambray popover, but $85 for well constructed linen is a very good price. The items I purchased will get lots of wear and since it's still in the 80s where I live, summer wear is still an option.
OT, I will visit Last Call (Neiman Marcus' Outlet). It's not J Crew warehouse pricing, but really good buys can be found. There's an additional % off & you can combine with a $25 off $75 coupon in store or online today. Have a giftcard for my bday, so going to pick up a Vince pencil dress for less than $70 that retailed for $345 last year and a pair of Louboutin Paulina flats for $220 that retailed for $645. They also have 50, 60 & 75% off clearance items. So, if you don't mind shopping from old seasons, then you may want to check out this outlet.

    1. I love my strappy chambray midi dress. I didn't see anyone else mention it, but it sold out pretty quick. That linen popover is cute.

I find a lot of good buys, and hidden gems. Mostly online only stuff, but there's good things to be found at good prices. There's also a LOT of way overpriced, poor quality, boring, or overly-bejeweled and tacky duds, too!

    2. Yes that dress is amazing! I saw it in the rollout, but wasn't willing to pay full price. Most of my purchases are online because the selection and choice is so much better. Yep, J Crew's pricing & design leaves me SMH; just don't understand some of it.

    3. Where are you located and can we go shopping??! It's usually hit or miss for me :( Did you put the Vince and Louboutin flats on hold?

    5. Both, strappy midi chambray dress and the collection Italian chambray are absolutely amazing! Got skirt at initial 30% and wore it at least once a week, popover at 112 earlier this season - so worth it. If I get a back up in both my size, i definitely get it. This week I got the collection Japanese chambray denim dress @ 149 (just days away from last day to return the one I purchased for 249! :). Love it.

    6. I completely missed the chambray midi shirt and it looks to be sold out. What is the item number? TIA!

    7. Hi Sarah, yes, I called and placed the items on hold; I had noticed them the day before & didn't have time to try on. Grapevine Mills location will hold until closing. I'm on the email list & look for notices about Direct Shipments from Neimans & Bergdorf Goodman. Those are the items I'm most interested in because they didn't sell, even after the clearance sales. Those items typically arrive @ 65% off. With additional % off, these items can be a steal. Majority of items in the outlets (80% or more) are made for the outlet and I don't typically buy them.
Hi Anon, you're my kind of shopper! I pay attention to pricing as well. No point in paying more than you have to. I saw that Japanese chambray dress & it's very cute.
Hi Mack, if you're referencing the strappy chambray midi dress, style # is C8070.

  8. So, I stopped at my store on Thursday to make a return and tried the abominable teddy jacket (see my Insta pic) that was THE item that I really wanted to get this Fall. On the other hand, I loved the fit of the striped tee shirt with the suede shoulder patches and took it to the register thinking it would be included in the 30% off promo. But it wasn't. Come on, this was on sale the day it came out! Funny thing is there was another lady at the register with the same shirt and she didn't buy it either because of the exclusion. So they lost two sales just because of this promotion schizophrenia. I am sure this will end up on sale plus 50% off in no time. I am really tired of their games, as a result I went to Maje next door and blew $500!

    1. Yeah! I'm sure the clothes from Maje fits you, and doesn't give you linebacker shoulders like J.Crew does. :-D Did you get the tie-on cape?

The stuff does go on sale a lot faster than Spring/Summer merchandise, from what I noticed.

I'm done with this roll-out, and looking forward to the next one in two weeks..

  9. I agree with you, Ema.
I went in the other day, and bought the solid v-neck merino cardigan in the deep jade (shorter, thinner and snugger than I expected, but the color is pretty), on sale for $69.00 less 40%, minus my educator discount- final sale. The next day the e-mail read that the promo was for 40% off. What is the point?
Similarly, last night I went to Factory to return a necklace I had purchased a couple of weeks before. The day before I bought it, it was 50% off, the day I bought it it was 40% off, and the day I returned it it was 50% off....

  10. Finally scored a chateau parka at the clearance store. They had my size in black. I didn't really want black but for $90.00 just couldn't pass up. Now that I am home trying it back on, I love it in black. I think I am the only JCA that didn't have one. Also got a pair of New Balance 620 in cobalt blue with orange and white sole and a few other little goodies. My Nike waffle racers are shot, really excited to get these as a replacement.

    2. I do not have one....too short on me.

    3. @DD, I too, do not own one. I'd love to!.. But cannot bring myself to buy one at full price. And knowing that one can be found at a fraction of its asking price at the clearance center.. somehow I'm not lol.
Happy for you though:) Go DD!

  11. Went to make a return and fell in love with the cosmos cluster necklace and bracelet. Both were over priced ($148 and $98) but were 30% off, which brought them down to what they should be at regular full price. Like many of you, I do not like these pricing games - price things reasonably and I'm happy to buy. SA was great and the store was busy.
