  1. I am finding more to love in the recent rollouts than I have in a long time, and finally think that some long-time customer suggestions (full-length pants, leather shoes, more skirt options than mini) are being incorporated into the line. However, they still have a long way to go on quality (how about lining those full-length pants again?) and construction (if that classic v-neck cardigan had actually been wool/cashmere as advertised, I would've bought a few) before I would consider a full-price purchase. Here's hoping that they can keep getting back on track.

    1. I agree completely! I also think the styling is a lot less crazy and I actually found myself wanting to buy a couple full outfits this time around, which hasn't happened in forever.

    2. I agree. I do love the ankle length pants but was going to try a pair of the full length from this rollout. In the ended I decided not to because I refuse to buy unlined wool pants.

    3. silver_lining, Violet, & Luxette: I mentioned in another thread that I had read something about Somsack Sikhounmuong taking over as head of women's design at J.Crew. He was the head designer at Madewell for quite awhile, and we all know what an amazing job he did over there. If he truly is designing for the women's line at J.Crew now, it could be the reason for the recent changes, and also why the styles appear to be taking a turn for the better. I hadn't even looked at the website until very recently, but have been pleasantly surprised by how many of the items I actually like now. That has not happened for a very long time, either!

    4. He hasn't designed anything for JCrew yet, his first Collection will be Fall 16, I believe. This collection is actually be Mora's swan song. Not sure who designed SS 16...

    5. Thanks Ema! It will be very interesting to see what kind of changes take place when he does start designing. I definitely think it will be for the better.

    6. But everything at Madewell is so monochromatic (bar the autumn reds & plaid stuff). I really miss the EARLY Madewell aesthetic. Not a fan of Somsack.

    7. I went ahead and bought work slacks from Banana Republic this weekend online, because I can't get behind the everything that is skinny or straight leg must be ankle length. I don't know what they're doing. I understand it as an option, but it doesn't jive for me. It cuts my shorter frame off and it gives you cold ankles in the Fall. I also don't by their jeans anymore because there is no variation in the rise. It's a mid...which is a fairly mid-high and high rise. I understand many shoppers are older, but most brands have rise options for jeans.

  2. I placed an order for two different sizes of the Dulci Gingham Heels, and then called to ask about removing final sale from the order, which they did. Nothing beats their customer service. It's too bad they couldn't sell that to other companies. It does appear that they are listening but I've always suggested in those surveys that final sale should be removed, at least, for shoes. It makes no sense to me to sell online shoes this way.

    1. I agree their Customer Service is the best, in the past few weeks they have addressed all my requests without any issue. Removing final sale for items not available in store, getting additional discounts that stores won't apply.

    2. I'm going to chime in with my love of JC customer service too - I wrote to request a price adjustment on the Arquiste rollerball scents that I'd purchase about a week ago on sale (they're really a steal right now with an Extra 50% off sale price) and the person who replied said that as long as it was within a week they'd be happy to refund me the difference. Very gracious of JC I'd say. They're still my go-to brand and I hope to be their customer forever.
