JCA "Help Style Me!" Weekly Post

This is the weekly "Help Style Me!" post, where we can share items we are having trouble putting outfits together with. Elaine (in this post) says it best, "You know, that thing you bought because you love it and you keep pulling it out and then putting it away without wearing it?"

Please share your J.Crew item (either that you own or are thinking about getting) that you would love help creating an outfit with.

Also, please help out by offering your styling advice. Feel free to include links to your blog (where you incorporated that piece) or to Polyvore (where you showcased an outfit with that piece). Thanks in advance! :)

  1. It's starting to get chilly where I live, and I always find it a little more challenging to style shorter length pants when socks have to be involved. I just ordered the patio pant in blue stone, and am wondering if any JCAs can give their ideas for styling it, particularly from the knees down (i.e. footwear, socks? if so, .. what color?). I have no problem thinking of how to wear it with bare legs, but I'm not so sure what I will do once bare legs aren't an option. Thanks!

    1. I like the bare leg look even in winter, so I look for a good quality nude panty hose to get that natural look. I also wear loafers quite often as they are much warmer than heels or ballet flats, so even when it's freezing it's quite doable, I find.
I have been looking at the patio pant as I love that wide leg look. Wondering if they are light or mid weight quality wool? And that blue stone color looks beautiful!!

    2. I like the bare leg look too but we get lots of snow where I live so I wear a pair of boots into the office and then put my heels or flats on after I arrive. It means I have to bring a pair of shoes back and forth every day but I'm so used to it now that it doesn't phase me.

    3. Since the patio pants have a wide leg you could also wear them with a tight, dressy, knee high boot.

    4. I've also seen photos in magazines and on Net-a- Porter of the ankle booties with these pants. Just make sure there is a bit of leg showing, especially if you are on the shorter side. Also they look great with wedges

    6. Ditto what Luxette and fleur de lys said - I wear boots to/from the office and depending on how cold it is have no socks with my dress shoes or sheer hose. Wearing boots helps save my shoes from all of the winter salt as well :)

  3. I'm styling the Barbour coat from the J.Crew website on my blog today. I discussed sizing recommendations. I also styled the Factory striped boatneck shirt.
