Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the HOLIDAY sale, or to see some new WINTER arrivals {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  1. I am hoping to. Are the new arrivals in stores as well?

  2. Straycat, not sure if you're up, but there are three gateway green Excursion vests on stock!!! I know you already got the navy, but just in case you're still interested...

  4. I made a huge haul yesterday but will just share my favs right now. I picked up the nora blush cap toe chain ballet flat, on sale for 69.99 plus another 30% off with the promo so it was a great deal. They fit tts and are beautiful.
I picked up the scattered sequin sweater in red, size m. I tried my normal size of xs and s, they both fit loosely but were quite short in the waist (I'm 5'9"). I think wearing this sweater in a slouch fit makes it more modern, less likely to look like a kitschy holiday sweater.
The heathered maritime dress in stripe is amazing and a great price with the discount. I bought s as there was nothing smaller in my store and I liked the loose fit. It became much cuter when paired with the silver glitter belt to cinch in the waist. I can't wait to wear this with tights, it will be perfect for all of the long traveling I do. Comfy yet chic.
This doesn't begin to cover my favorites, I may post them later.

  5. Also, I noticed J crew's most recent denim seems to be of a much thinner fabric with more stretch. This seems for winter, especially since the summer denim was all quite stiff and thick. Personally, I prefer my denim to have a little stretch for both the comfort and fit factor. I recommend sizing down 1 or 2 sizes from your size in the thicker denim. I went from a 28 down to a 26 in most pants I tried yesterday.

  6. I posted a few days ago about seeing pave necklace for around $100. I didn't have any proof of the price and felt like I had misremembered or worse, misrepresented the situation, which made me feel bad . . .

But then last night I went to Rock Center (so many people, ugh) to do a PA, and there hanging on a little stand was a pave necklace, each link a square shape. The style number is 22284, the price was originally $118, and the whole thing was marked down to $70. I got the 30% off and the necklace came out to around $50. I think this may have been what I saw online--an older item that is out there. If you are interested you might do a search.

The PA was interesting, because I think the SA refunded me far too much money. Has that ever happened to you?

    1. That's awesome! You were right about the original pave necklace being about $115 that day, though, I saw it too. I might like the one you bought even better, though. Both are very pretty.

    2. I gotv that necklace too at Rockfeller Center and the matching bracelet. BTW the bracelet (on sale for $39.99) is great for the small-wristed ladies. I am often sized out of their bracelets but this one is fairly small.

    3. Would anyone happen to have a photo of the the pave necklace (22284)/bracelet that they might be able to email to me? I tried doing abit of detective work but I think it was in-store only so I haven't been able to find a photo! (flowingwithgrace at gmaildotcom)

Also, was it a one day thing that the classic pave went down to about $115 or are they still at that price in-store?

Thanks so much for all your help!

  7. I'm definitely planning on hitting the store this weekend; hoping to find some good buys!

This is off topic but there are a whole bunch of J Crew items featured in the January 2013 issue of "Lucky." The cover model is Jennifer Hudson and on the first page of her feature she is wearing the flame floral jacquard skirt.

  10. I'm gong to try to run in today before the afternoon rush to see if the Tippis are also on sale in store. Does anyone know? I managed to score a few online this morning after the update but someone beat me to my size in a few colors.

OT, but I'm always so curious as to what other JCAs get on popbacks expecially last week when there were so many good ones. I always go back to my best aquisitions in my mind and the feeling of pure undulated joy when you find something you wanted that was seemingly sold out.

  11. I've visited the store more in the past month than I have in maybe the six previous months and that's because of the great promos, but also because the stores are fully stocked, things are displayed well, and it has been a great shopping experience overall. So I'll likely hit the B&M again this weekend. For me, J Crew has really come through for the holiday season.

  15. I want visit my local SF Market St location to return the Bow coat that I ordered from the Black Friday promo. Still obsessing over owning a camel colored coat, but the size 2 I ordered did not feel right. The sleeves do not fall straight, and looks rumpled around the armpits, where the sleeves are sewn on to the shoulders. It just looked weird. Regardless of me having skinny arms, the sleeves should be sewn right to accommodate all arm sizes....

Hopefully it'll go on sale so I can reorder a size 0.

    1. JSR: If you are happy with the price you paid for the coat with the Black Friday promo, why don't you ask CS to exchange it for the size 0? They should swap it out at the price you paid and ship it for free, as well.

      Delete
    2. Hi FFM - I thought about that but wasn't sure if I should bother with the hassle.
      Thanks for the tip. :)

I did pay a good price for it. It was when they had the Bow coat on sale and I was able to apply the % promo, then they decide to switch it back to full price. Oh JCrew.

      Delete
    3. @JSR: funny that you are planning on returning the bow coat. I may return my as well. I got the cabernet in 2 and I think in terms of the size it fits perfectly. However, the funnel neck is really bothering me. If i wear a scarf it's fine but if i don't it's hitting my neck/cheek area and it's kind of irritating. And I thought I loved the bow but it looks little off when i have the coat opened like one side of the bow is standing up higher than the other size. At this point, I may stick with my green cocoon coat.

      Delete
    4. @ladybug007 - funny I did reorder the cocoon coat in Dublin green in size 00 and the fit is much better than a 0 and I too might just keep the cocoon.
I guess I shouldn't force myself to like the bow coat when it's not working out. There will be another fall season filled with camel coats to choose from...

      Delete
    5. @ladybug007 - I went to my B&M in downtown SF, they had the bow coat in size 0 but in the fuchsia color. I tried it on just to see how the size 0 would look, and it fit way better than the 2. I didn't have a problem with the sleeves bunching up around the pits area..
Now I'm back from feeling torn between the Bow Coat in camel or Cocoon Coat in green. I really like the Cocoon because its modern, and I love green, but i just don't want it to look too trendy that i may not like it a year after when it comes to wearing it again.
The Bow is a safer coat to own, its classic design will be timeless...
Both coats are cool, but I can decide on one. :( Ah what to do..

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. KLloves - I didn't care for the Jackie pullover. the material feels weird (synthetic-y) and it was oddly tight. I have a pic of one in this post. I almost kept it for the color only, but it had a snag in it. I'm glad I didn't because I prefer the Tippi in sandstone.

      Delete
    2. I love the Jackie pullovers, but they do run small. Size up. The material is odd, it is thick and really stretchy. If you squish it, it sort of feels like memory foam. That said, I really like them and I own just about every color!

      Delete
    3. I love both the Tippi and Jackie. A major plus for the Jackie is that it is not sheer - great for lighter colors. I agree with J.CrewJD about sizing up - I wear an xs in the Tippi and a small in the Jackie pullover. The length is a bit shorter than the Tippi and works perfectly with the no. 2 pencil skirts. I also find the sleeves to be more of a bracelet length, which I also really like a lot. I own nearly every color as well and wear them often. Well worth the amazing price they are with the promo right now.

    1. I agree, final sale is totally lame! Went in, tried what I wanted and walked out empty handed after finding out about the final sale.

    2. I would speak with a manager. It wasn't like that at my nearby store. In fact the final sale signs were gone. Nor does the online sale make mention all sale items are final sale. Perhaps your SA was misinformed.

      Delete
    3. There was no mention of final sale at Rockfeller Center. It is 30% off storewide, same promo on sale items and non sale items.

      Delete
    4. There were no final sale signs in the store I visited. I made a point of asking two SAs just in case the first was misinformed. They both told me that sale items, with 30% off, were final sale. After I pointed out that it wasn't final sale on the website, one whipped out an ipad thingy and proceeded to check the terms of the promo. All the SA could say was,"Sorry." Maybe it was just my bad luck to run into 2 misinformed SAs. It's only because I read JCA that I even thought to ask about final sale. I refuse to be ambushed in the middle of checkout with this final sale nonsense!

      Delete
    5. Thanks for everyone weighing in on this subject. There were no signs posted that said final sale. Two different SAs told me about the extra 30% off clearance being final sale and regular price items or those not ending in.99 were not final sale with 30% off. I discussed it with another customer purchasing items while I was making my returns. The customer, who decided to purchase a clearance item but waive the extra 30% because of FS, was standing right next to me while the manager was taking care of my return. I assume the manager heard the whole conversation. I just left without purchasing anything. Just be aware that a gift may not be able to be returned.

      Delete
    6. I have been told the same lame thing at my store ... you can waive the extra % if you want to avoid the final sale restriction on returns.

      Delete
    7. Let me preface my story with the fact that I find most of the staff at my local store nasty...so much so that I do most of my buying on-line. As a result, I treat my local store as a return center.

I went stopped in to the store last night in hopes of purchasing the metal pearl bracelet as a gift. They had it and when I asked the SA the price and she told me $68.00. I told her it was $49.99 on-line and I politely asked if she could match the price. She started to tell me no but a male SA told her to verify the price and if it was marked down to honor the price. After verifying the price the female SA told me it would be final sale w/ the 30%. I told the SA that there was no mention of final sale anywhere in the promos. Again the male SA jumped in and told me it would not be final sale and that I could have a gift receipt if I wanted. I thanked the male SA for all his help before I left. I just wonder why JCrew insists on making it so difficult on the customers...don't they know how important customer service is?

The icing on the cake...as I was leaving another woman was looking at the same bracelet and I tipped her off about the price and final sale nonsense....another SA overheard me (not either of the two I had worked with) and she gave me the stink eye and a extremely sarcastic THANKS! Sorry, JCrew but I'm going to help my fellow customer beat your ridiculous games.

The moral of this long tale....

Ask your store to match on-line pricing and tell them the final sale is bunk. Ask for a manager if you have to but remain polite and firm.

      Delete
    8. Come to think of it, there were no final sale signs at my store either, but my two purchases were final sale as well.

I didn't make a fuss about it b/c they were gifts, but still.

      Delete
    9. I checked my receipt from my purchase yesterday, I got the on line price adjustment and 30% off but receipt is not FS and item ended in .99. I know the 30% off a couple of weeks ago on sale items was FS but there was no mention during this promotion. I think each store is making their own decisions.

      Delete
    10. Just checked my receipt from last evening too. My sale purchases are not marked final sale. There was signage in the store stating that everything in store was 30% off and nowhere did it allude to sale purchases being final sale. I was prepared to march down to my local store this morning (on a holiday weekend, no less) to demand they return these items had they been marked as such. J. Crew really needs to have a consistent policy across all its B&M stores and website.

I bought myself a Cashmere V Neck in Tawny Ribbon and it came out to $94 before tax, and a Crewcut navy cords and a stripe sequin star cotton top for my little girl.

My SA told me that they're doing the 30% all the way through the 24th. Doubting myself if I heard that right, or if she meant the 30% will continue for sale items only, and not the full price items.

If I plan to go back again, I'll make sure to go during the weekday morning, and not during the weekend. Too crazy, especially now that we are one week and weekend away from Christmas.

  40. Can anyone comment on the fit of the Cece suede ballet flats? Are they narrow or tts? The last pair of ballet flats I bought from J Crew were the Marsala suede flats which were pretty narrow.

    1. Random Human - I love the Cece ballet flats. They're very, very comfortable. I find they run TTS. Since J Crew updated the fit on their flats, almost all of them now run TTS. This coming from someone who is a 7.5 and just about always takes an 8 in J Crew shoes. HTH

    2. RH I agree with GiGi, the Cece ballet flats are super comfortable. I find them TTS also (size 11).

  42. for those of you in NYC, would you suggest going to the b&m in rock center over flatiron? does one usually restock more/faster or have nicer SAs? just wondering! never thought to consider my options until now :) thanks!

  43. I prefer rock. Center but 5th avenue is okay too. Rock. Store has better service IMO
