"Thanks!" again to LizPoms, who also shared the following news/ tidbit with us:
I was shopping tonight at a local store, and an SA said "we're honoring tonight the promo that starts tomorrow--30% off the whole store through Christmas eve"...she didn't know if it would be online or not. But said full price and sale, basically 30% off any purchase.
That is pretty awesome if this promo continued in stores until Christmas... I love it!!! :)

I am loving all these promotions! This one is especially nice because there is no minimum and free shipping is included. Plus, it extends to brick and mortar stores.

I have to give credit to J.Crew, they brought out the best promotions this holiday season. :)

Lastly, the Sale Section (click here to shop online) had a nice update this morning for Women (1000+ items) and Men (430+). Definitely worth checking out as some items have been reduced from earlier this week. :)

Will you be taking advantage of this promotion? If so, what items are you planning to get? Please share! :)

  1. I was in a store late last night and an SA told me they were starting the promotion, and that it will run until Christmas Eve (at least in stores). Sort of surprising that they made a commitment to that promo for so long!

  2. I did order the cashmere tee dress (more to try on for size in case it goes super final sale, the sequin dot tee (trying to figure out cost per wear) and the discounted necklace tee b/c I think it's clever.

  3. Well, they got me this time. I got the piped trouser pants in the grey. I've been interested in them since they debuted months ago, and figure I can always return them if I don't like them.

  4. Argh! Gluttony, gluttony I tell you.

Alexis--is it normal to have so many sales? Did JCrew do this last year?

This morning I picked up another Collection Cashmere Turtleneck--all colors are now $99 online, and with the percentage off, are $70. I think that's amazing, as the cashmere is quite thick and the colors gorgeous. I don't think Uniqlo has cashmere this nice and affordable. I keep thinking I shouldn't buy, but then I remember that I don't know if we will see such promos again.

Thank you to the person who keeps beating me to the Fall Floral necklace early in the morning! I have now gotten over my desire to have one after missing it so many times in a row. If it's there tomorrow, I will look the other way . . .

I keep imagining who is up so early, like me (I'm up to exercise). Are you sitting there with a cup of coffee? Enjoying the quiet while everyone else sleeps? I am . . .

    5. Unknown: This is the first year that J.Crew is offering so many back-to-back promotions, including while other promotions are going on (e.g. 30% off outerwear, with 30% off sale). Normally, we would see one a week. But not consecutive like this (and not this good!) I talked to an in-store associate earlier this week who has been with the company for years, and even she could not believe how many promotions are being offered. Frankly, I am loving it!!! :)

P.S. The Floral Necklace keeps popping up. I believe you will not only get one, but get it for a great price!!! I got mine and it is gorgeous. :)

    6. I think they really missed the mark with this fall/winter collection (at least for women's) and now have to do so many promos to move merch. Great to pick up basics like coats and sweaters, but no real "wow" pieces like there have been in the past.

      Delete
    7. Cass-Such an interesting point. I wonder if we will see a change in the designer at the helm? Marissa Webb ran women's wear, right? So, perhaps there will be yet another changing of the guard.

Alexis--Thank you for the information! I feel guilty spending so much--on the other hand, I do feel like the quality is amazing. And I really had no cashmere until this fall. Actually, I had no basics to speak up. Roxy did such a lovely post on her blog about building a wardrobe, and I realized everything I owned came from a thrift store or a sample sale--and that I had no basics to work with. So, I've been trying to acquire those and JCrew has made it easy. Amazing how their stuff just goes with everything.

I will try again with the necklace! This morning the site didn't update at 6AM (yesterday it was updated a 6AM sharp). So, by the time I looked again at 6:30, midway through he olde Tracy Anderson moves, the site had updated, but the fall Floral necklace was gone.

      So many clothes . . . so few dollars . . .

    8. It was Jenna for a long time, then Marissa Webb, now Tom Mora. It should be interesting to see if we see anymore design changes. I think they overcorrected from the embellished stuff that people got tired of. Now everything is so plain and basic.

    9. I received the fall floral bracelet today and it was defective. There were two jewels laying in the box next to the bracelet. Then I picked it up to see it on my wrist and it broke in half. I also had received the Fall floral necklace a while back and it too broke in half when I put it on. I looked at it was missing one of the metal pieces connecting the jewels and it had been stuck back together. Needless to say it was very disappointing! I am tired of the quality issues.

    10. The Mall of America store (Bloomington, MN) has the fall floral necklace and bracelet. I also had to return one from a charge send due to missing crystal but the next one was ok. Hope that it holds up ok.

    1. just read the other comments and didn't realize the promo is going to last for so long. i'll be within a stones throw of the Georgetown JC in 2 days... maybe they'll have them both!

    2. I do not own a pair of the toothpick cord but I do have the toothpick garment dyed jean in shallow sea and I love it! However, I did have to go a size up (28) from my usual size (27). The sales associate told me that this style does run a little smaller/tighter. Overall, I'm loving this pair of jean! Being that I am 5'3, the length is perfect! The color is very nice and subtle. I'm hoping to grab a pair of the toothpick cords soon!

    3. No advice on those particular ones but it might be good to look in an actual store. The prices have been lower than the online prices. They had some as low as $29.99 (with an additional 30% off)!

      Delete
    4. Chiming in to say that I, too, had to size up in those particular toothpick cords. I'm pretty reliably a 26, but needed a 27 in those.

      Delete
    5. Marisa- sorry, reply didnt work this time. Life as a cat did a review on the pale turquoise cords when they came out, and so did tabitha. They were BRIGHT! Much brighter than they look online. The shallow sea ones are pretty well represented on the site, I think. So it depends on your preference I think. I have the shallow sea and love love them. Almost a neutral, just a lovely color for all year round, I think. And I'm usually a 4/27, but always go up to 28 in toothpicks. I went with a tall in the garment dyed ones, and they hit right at my ankles rather than being cropped, making them a bit more versatile for me. HTH!

  7. So since the stores are doing this promo, do you think they will honor the online price of any item plus the additional 30%? For example, I want the Toothpick jean in velvet in navy, but it is sold out in my size online. My B&M has them (as of Tuesday) but they wouldn't honor the online price of $89.50. Any suggestions?

My B&M has been weird about honoring online prices. They would honor the online price of the black watch plaid shirt, stating something like the navy was not on sale (which it was…but whatever). So I left the store without either cause I was frustrated.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. My VPS always honors online prices at the b&m if an item I want has sold out online, even if it's not on sale at the store. Do you have a VPS that you can go through? Or maybe you can have them do a store locator for the shirt, I've always had them honor the online sale price that way as well. Good luck!

      Delete
    2. Does anyone has the style number for the black watch plaid shirt? It was on sale online and now I can't find it and want to see if my B&M will match the online sale price. TIA

      Delete
    3. I did a google search and found style # 50134 for the Perfect Shirt in Blackwatch Plaid. Is this the one you are referring to?

      Delete
    4. I don't know if this will help but the item # is: 23696. I ordered it and returned it because it ran so small on me and I couldn't decide if I wanted to get another one. Also, my store has always honored the online price for me. I was in my store on Black Friday and the night before I had noticed a shirt I wanted was marked down. I asked about it since it was still full price in the store and they gave me the online price plus the 25% off!

      Delete
    5. JRSConifer: The page for the Perfect shirt in Black Watch is here. If it's the one you're looking for, then the item # is 23696.

    8. Thanks! :) I don’t have a VPS anymore. I’m going to run during lunch hopefully armed with online prices written down..so sad.

And the Black Watch Plaid is item 23696. It is sold out now online, but it was marked down to I believe briefly, $49.99 this morning or last night online.

    9. I do a "chat" while online, print out the chat, and take it to the store in case their own check of last sale price doesn't work. my store honors on line pricing but sometimes it seems hard for them to find it when it is sold out so i get the chat person to find last sale price!

      Delete
    10. Margaret, great minds think alike. I did just that since item search did not work and was told that the item is sold out in the distribution center, so last online price was $49.99. I have the shirt on hold at my B&M, I will work with them on the pricing once I try the shirt on. Thanks all JCAs for your help.

      Delete
    11. Back from my B&M and they honored the online prices, so thank you all! Having the printed out online prices really helped, especially with the Black Watch shirt. As already stated, it is sold out online, so it is not pulling up in their system if needing to do a price check. My store still has these (a lot) at full price.

What I've learned the past few days..print out everything from J.Crew to verify prices. Geez. I'm tired now.

      Delete
    12. I cannot believe how antiquated their system is. If the online chat can tell you the last price why can't they find out in store. Crazy.

  8. Ahhhh...make it stop! Ha ha. I'm loving all the promos and I've scored some great popbacks at great prices (honeycomb chiffon blouse, everly cap toe t-strap pumps, silk pintuck blouse, which I've been looking for in my size daily for months), some great classics (cashmere boyfriend cardigans, valentinas, collection mohair sweater in that beautiful purple color) and some fun stuff I've wanted for a while (denim vest) but I need to stop shopping for myself. Its hard to resist when everything is 30% off. I know its partly psychological to think that its such a deal, when most of it is marked too high to start with, but I still can't help myself.

  10. Can anyone comment on the fit of the Icon trench? Since these promos will probably end after Christmas I'm going to have my husband order my (February) birthday present now. :-) Should I get what I wear in a perfect shirt or go up a size? TIA!

    1. Icon trench in wool cashmere fitted like my regular coat size at JC (sz. 4) but was high waisted on me, so I returned it.

Also it is not really all wool and cashmere. It has about 20% nylon. The description is deceiving on the website.

      Delete
    2. I have the cotton Icon Trench in two colors from 2009 and I love them. I also bought the short version when they had it, I love these that much. I took my usual J.Crew jacket/coat/blazer size and it fit well. Then I ordered another a size up to layer a blazer underneath.

I have Burberry trenches and these are not quite the same but very comparable, especially for the price. The cotton is substantial, giving the coat structure and body. It's water-resistant, which is what you want. Waterproof means that moisture doesn't penetrate AT ALL and that means your perspiration will be trapped inside too. The belt can be buckled or tied and looks good either way. The styling features are classic and I think the Icon Trench is one of the best quality items that J.Crew offers, at least the 2009 version and the current version says it is made of Japanese cotton so should be good too.

HTH, it's a good investment on a classic coat.

  24. On the bright side (after talking to CS this morning and dealing with attitude) I stopped by my cute little B & M and picked up the Tippi in Garland (yes, they still had it!), the cupcake earrings (on sale with additional 30%), the green shiny lucite link necklace (also on sale with additional 30%) and the gold chain bracelet with the big gold heart charm. I didn't think I needed that one, but in person it's a stunner. I finally tried on the "Christmas pants" (the red plaid capris) and fortunately I like the plaid capris I got last year better. Didn't see much else I really needed. They were so happy to see me. I think they thought I moved away or something. I didn't tell them that it's just that I haven't liked much of the fall/winter line. Stopped in at American Eagle (for the first time) to try on a men's sweater that caught my eye. Bought it and a flannel plaid shirt too. The men's x-small/small fit great in both of those. Enough room for my big ole' man shoulders but nice and fitted in the body. I'm going to look more in the men's dept. for cute things.

  34. Twiggly Wiggly.....I think I saw the grey loomknit sweatshirt today. Here are the phone numbers of the stores I visited: 503-624-6386 and 503-598-7414. Good luck!

  35. I am so weak, I really need to stop buying for myself right now. I just couldn't resist the cashmere prices. Loving these promos, I wish I lived near a b&m because sizing inconsistencies are frustrating me!

  36. why am I thinking about the cat sweater? I read the fabric content, but IRL does it itch? does it pill? still thinking about it... any reviews yet?

    1. WFF, I hate to disappoint, but I saw the cat sweater today and the fabric did not feel very soft to the touch and I would bet that once on, it would be scratchy.

    2. Thanks, Louise, I'd rather know ahead of time!

    3. If it's made of the same material as the French bulldog sweater (I think it is?), I think that if you're sensitive to itchy sweaters, it will itch. But if you're not, the material does feel a tid bit scratchy, but it personally doesn't make me itchy. I also haven't experienced the pilling some JCA-ers on here have described either.

    4. Fred, review of the tabby sweater & the pear one in this post.

    5. Pear, La Parisienne, and tabby are all the same fit and fabric. They're a bit itchy so you'll want to wear something under them, but I don't think they'll pill...

  37. Pine Cashmere-medium green or dark and luscious blue/black/green?
The turtleneck looks boring medium green on my monitor, while the cardi looks divine and dark? Can some describe Pine IRL? TIA

  38. Just got home from my B&M. Lots of goodies in the sale section, but in many cases, the price is better online. Also, I saw many items at full price that are on sale online. So, definitely cross-check before making an in-store purchase!

I was excited to get the long-sleeve tweed dress ($129 + 30% off), along with the boy shirt in colorblock oxford (same as online), a blue patent belt ($10 before promo, $30 online), and the lobster keychain ($15 before promo, $25 online).

Also, my store usually stacks the student discount with other promos, but they wouldn't do it tonight.

    Happy shopping!

    1. Minneapolis area stores usually honor the educator discount on top of other promos but I was rejected at both the Mall of America store and the Roseville store today - SAs at both made the comment "Only one discount is allowed and we are having 30% and that's a better discount so I assume that's the one you want to use." It was quite rude and awkward.

    2. She shouldn't have been so rude, but she was right. I asked the same question recently, and a lovely JCA-er (gigiofca) told me the following:

"Phoebe - From my understanding, on 'global' promo where there is a blanket % off on everything the student/educator discount does not apply. Of course there are some employees who don't understand the rules or just don't care and have applied it to purchases. It depends on who you get, but it's supposed to be no in this case. I think the confusion comes because of items on sale/clearance. When there is an addtl 30% off, the discount is supposed to apply because it's not a 'global' promo. The employees think that the student discount doesn't apply and it's supposed to. Adding even more confusion is that it used to apply, they took it away and then reinstated it. I'm not surprised that everyone is confused."

    3. While on live chat earlier today, I was told that the student discount is valid on top of sale items only when there isn't a promotional code in use. Otherwise, during promotions such as the current one right now, the teacher/student discount will not be valid. :/

  39. I cleaned up at the Toronto Yorkdale store today - 3 pairs of shoes (!!) Excursion vest in pink, Collection lace trim blouse, and sequin bird stripe top. Totally burned out my credit card!! My justification is that I won't be going anywhere on Boxing Day and I would rather get these pieces now at what I think are decent prices, than have to expend a ridiculous amount of energy in January trying to hunt down the right size and colours that I want. The sequin bird stripe top was my one major splurge - I figure it will go on sale eventually but it is so cute, I couldn't resist.

  40. I wasn't even supposed to be looking for me...but went with a girlfriend to buy dress pants, suggested we hit up J Crew and there in the sale section on the bottom shelf was the Oversize Merino Pocket Sweater in what ever the orange color was called. Two of them, both small. I'd looked at it several times on line, tried in on once in the store, really like it, but just couldn't pull the trigger. Then it was gone from everywhere...but tonight, marked at $79.99 plus the 30% it came home with me for $57 and change. Totally worth it!!

  41. OMG, I HAVE to stop shopping!!! Once I finally scored the Excursion vest in warm bisque, I thought I was done stalking the early morning popbacks. Ended up being seduced by the Tippi sweater in celestial blue. It was a steal at $39.99 plus 30% off. But now I'm done. SERIOUSLY. I think.

  42. I got Schoolboy Blazer in grey, 1035 pants in grey and Cashmere Shawl sweater in pine. Not to mention all the other stuff I have bought with the previous promo codes....

  43. I purchased the men's wool walking coat at full price via a store search, the day before the 30% off in store happened. Do you think I have any chance of getting a price adjustment?

  44. Gigi......Sorry reply doesn't work for me. Yes, the gold heart charm bracelet was FP in the store. I got the last one they had and got 30% off. It's a really nice piece, very heavy and substantial feeling...which I like.

  46. Anyone having sale items come up final sale? I'm wondering if this is a glitch in the system...

    1. I bought "sale" items at the B&M (there was no additional sale discount -- they said it would be an extra 30 off store-wide)

They rang the sale items as "final sale"

    2. Yes I tried to order the heartthrob shirt online yesterday and it came up final sale so I dumped it from my basket jcews loss

  48. This promo is good...I can't pass the no minimum on purchase and free shipping so I ended up ordering the cashmere herringbone sweater in navy and the collection Nora calf hair ballet flats that is waist listed. I figure the damage I made by ordering the flats is not as bad since i won't be charged for the shoes till the expected ship date of February. If it ever goes on sale, I'm worried they'll run out of my size.

  49. I got the cashmere tippi in lilac and I got the cashmere tee dress in black. It was sold out last night but it popped back up this morning! I was so happy. :D :D!! You can't beat 30% off and free shipping. I hope they bring back at least one 40% off promo. I haven't seen one of those in forever!

I plan to go to the Lynchburg stores over Christmas break, since my grandparents live near there. Hopefully they'll have some good deals there too!

  50. Oops, I bit. Saw that the No 2 pencil in geometric print popped back in my size and couldn't resist.

  51. I an order with a couple new things today - I thought I'd review while the sale is still on.
I got the mirrored floral tee in size L (I go between a 10 and a 12) and it is too big. It is thin cotton but I love the print and the color. The background is ivory (very light creme) not white. It has about a 2" hem at the bottom that I wish they had skipped and just made the shirt a little longer as it runs short. I'm going to try a medium because the blue matches the celestial blue blazer and cashmere perfectly.
I also got the new mariner stripe boatneck tee item 38072. It also runs large - the medium fits me perfectly (the large is HUGE.) I have a ton of stripe shirts but this is very well made and different enough to keep. There is a narrow red stripe on each side of the blue stripe that I didn't see in the picture online. The fabric is very soft and substantial - it feels like the knit is a double layer. It is one of pieces that JCrew did a great job on. I wore it already tonight!

  52. There are some jackies on sale now - with free shipping, I couldn't resist to get a couple more colors: red currant and dublin green.

With the discount, the cardigans were $35 and $28, and given how useful I find these sweaters, I couldn't be happier.

  53. I broke down this a.m. when they lowered the priced on the selvedge chamray shirt and the chiffon blouse in pewter leopard - prices too good to pass up if they work. I also got thenavy polka dot skirt as a P8 finally popped back! I would wait for a sale off a sale price on that, but I think the dreaded final sale will rear its ugly head in January and i am not willing to go there!!!

  54. There are several new promo-priced items today, as well as some markdowns of previous promo items (Janey glitter flats, Calf hair clutch, and more). I've updated both the women's and men's list, which you can see here and here.

    Thanks!

  56. I did order the schoolboy blazer in "modern red". Shipping was so fast--I received it three days later. Anyway, as much as I truly love the blazer--and for 89.99 what a deal--right--I was slightly dissappointed in the description of the color--and online it was more of a true red. In reality, it is more of a flame, orangey red. I wanted to wear it for a Christmas Eve party, but it just isn't the proper "Christmas" Red. I will still wear it b/c it'll go well with jeans and any navy items I have but I do wish J. Crew would be more spot on when describing the colors AND when photographing the items! That's all:)

    1. I agree that the color was disappointing, even though I new "modern red" was red-orange. The website photo makes it look like tomato red.

  57. I visited today and I could not find anything interesting in the sale section. They marked down the bi- stretch Minnie pant but my size was not available and the item appears to be sold out. They marked down the polka dot sequin top in black (69.99) but the champagne is still at 89.99. I will move on it if they reduce it again before the holidays with the additional 30 percent off. I guess I will just wait patiently for the enamel link bracelet I ordered as a pop back last week. Anyway, happy shopping!

  58. OT: There are several colors of the Cambridge cable V-neck sweater marked to a promo-price of $26.50 this morning. It's more than likely a glitch and will go up in price in just a bit, so if you're considering one, you might want to order soon. Click here for the product page.
