JCA "Help Style Me!" Weekly Post

This is the weekly "Help Style Me!" post, where we can share items we are having trouble putting outfits together with. Elaine (in this post) says it best, "You know, that thing you bought because you love it and you keep pulling it out and then putting it away without wearing it?"

Please share your J.Crew item (either that you own or are thinking about getting) that you would love help creating an outfit with.

Also, please help out by offering your styling advice. Feel free to include links to your blog (where you incorporated that piece) or to Polyvore (where you showcased an outfit with that piece). Thanks in advance! :)

  1. If any of you ladies have any of the animal/heart/crazy lady/other intarsia sweaters...

(bulldog, hen, terrier, heart, puffin, pear, parisienne, etc. etc. etc.)

What have you been pairing them with? Just looking for some more ideas to go with my French bulldog sweater.

    1. I have paired my heart intarsia sweater from last year with the tweed skirt and with minnies. Pics on my blog ( search for heart me sweater).

I think that sweater might go well with a wool pencil skirt as well (heather acorn, crimson maple, heather charcoal).

    2. I've been wearing my hen with cuffed boyfriend jeans and Macalister wedges.

    2. I was able to use this on items still on promo under the Bundle promo....maybe because I am West Coast?

    3. I don't think the site tracks your IP address to your location. I think it all has to do with timing, not where you are.

    4. I was able to do the same thing and I'm on EST (Toronto), I just had to wait until after midnight!

  3. Just got the macalister wedge booties in black, but other than skinny jeans and cords, not sure what else to wear them with. Any suggestions? Thanks!

    1. I could see them with tights + dresses/skirts. I think they would look especially cute paired with a shift dress or a mini skirt.

  4. Frances and Pheobe: as luck would have it, i'm wearing both an animal sweater and the wedges today: bright blue sweater with aqua bird (from old navy a few years ago) with aqua plaid boy shirt, denim skirt, tights and the wedges.

some other ideas i had for my pear sweater and wedges: pair it with the chambray polka dot shirt, crimson sterling skirt, tights and wedges (or oxfords). the pear sweater under a blazer with denim/cord pants or skirt and the wedges. or the sweater with the antique white felted wool mini with the chambray shirt under it and tights (but probably with flats).

hope you think those are some good combos. i haven't tried them on yet... just more like eye-balling what i already have to try to come up with some outfits in my head (to justify keeping all my purchases). :)

  5. Phoebe: I've been pairing my navy French hen sweater with a royal blue pencil skirt (earlier in the fall a cotton one from the Crewlet and now a No. 2 wool) and the white Blythe blouse. The silk shirt and pencil skirt make the look work-appropriate, atleast for business-casual work environment. I definitely recommend a collared shirt under the animal sweaters, it gives them a smarter, polished edge.

  6. I styled the mauve blush pencil skirt (love this skirt!) with the grey and cream stripe merino scarf and grey factory tippi here: stethoscopes, style, & grace
All these items are on sale right now :)
