Final Sale is Back {plus 25% off with TINSEL}

"Thanks!" to many of you, including Wendy (in this post), who let us know the following {sad} news from this morning.

With the Holidays in full swing, J.Crew thought it would be a good time to bring back Final Sale (click here to shop online). That means customers cannot return and exchange sale-priced items purchased online. I am not sure if brick & mortar (B&M) stores are switching over to Final Sale too (but they probably will soon). Ugh.

J.Crew is also offering a new promo for 25% off on any Final Sale purchase with promo code TINSEL. The offer expires Wednesday, December 26, 2012. The fine print of this offer includes:
*Offer valid on the purchase of sale items at jcrew.com from December 22, 2012, 12:01am ET through December 26, 2012, 11:59pm ET. Offer not valid in J.Crew or J.Crew Factory stores, at jcrewfactory.com or on phone orders. Offer does not apply to previous purchases or the purchase of gift cards and cannot be redeemed for cash or combined with any other promotion. To redeem, enter code TINSEL in the promo code box at checkout. Limit one promo code per order. Offer valid in the U.S. and Canada only. Terms of offer are subject to change.
Moreover, the Final Sale section (click here to shop online) had a whopper of an update this morning for Women (1500+ items) and Men (600+). There are a lot of older, thought-it-sold-out-already, items popping back too!

This offer is not as good as what we have been seeing the past few weeks from J.Crew. (They really brought out some amazing promos!) Maybe J.Crew will drastically reduce prices to move out merchandise. Let's hope anyways.

Honestly, I won't be buying anything on sale online for awhile. I purchased a lot recently (thanks to all those fabulous promotions!) and I am still waiting to receive a few packages. On a bright note, my wallet could use the break. ;)

Did you check out the Final Sale section today? Were you able to snag any amazing deals? If so, please share! :)

  1. Boo for Final Sale, especially before Christmas when people are still shopping for gifts! It's always nice to see another % off of course, but it would have been better if final sale wasn't back again. At least we still have the promo-priced items - the lists are here on my blog.

    1. yes. Many people are still buying gifts and Shop through the new year for Christmas gifts. Well I'm still holding strong and I think close to 2 and a half years of not buying a single final sale item online

    2. Boo indeed Final Sale! Of course my store was one that said the extra 30% off sale in store was final sale which also makes no sense right before Christmas.I won't do Final Sale anymore either. Even with great JCA reviews some things just don't work out and it is such a waste of money. At least if they were going back to Final Sale the least they could have done was an extra 50% off. Geez!

    3. FS before (and right after) Christmas is just wrong.

  2. I stopped by the J.Crew in Mall at Millenia yesterday, and didn't see any mention of Final Sale. The sale section was packed full of mainly sizes Small to XLarge, so if there is something you are looking for it might be worth giving them a call. I did see 3 of the Herringbone quilted vests is size XLarge, but they were still at full price, as were the snowcap quilted jackets, which they had in all colors, sizes Small-XLarge.

    Boo, hiss, grumble, and moan!

Yes, I checked out FS & promptly exited the site before I made a bad decision. I would like to be disciplined enough to not look at the website until 40% off, or when there is a new rollout.

In case anyone is interested, there is a beautiful
Collection cashmere boyfriend sweater in Hthr Beet in final sale.

  5. Man they should have made it 40% off at the time of introducing final sale, just to get us "excited."

  6. Is everything in the sale considered final sale? I noticed that some things say final sale but others don't. I just want to be sure because J. Crew is so hit or miss with their quality and sizing. I really wish if they are going to do final sale that they would allow reviews to be posted of their items. Do you know why they do not allow reviews? Thanks!

    1. Promo priced items that end in 00s as opposed to .99 etc. are included in the promo but if you see something click on it to be sure. :)

  8. I was at 2 J Crew stores on Wednesday and Thursday, and was told that everything I purchased from the 30% off sale section was final sale. It was marked that way on my receipt, so I can't imagine it would be any different now that sale is 25% off. I was a little surprised.
    Happy Holidays!

    1. My store has said that from the beginning of this extra 30% off sale...so I did not buy anything in the sale section!

  9. Looks like many "Extreme Popbacks" (stolen from another JCA) are in the inventory! Some of them are OLD! But doggonit, several things I have wanted finally popbacked. Has anyone tried the Lulu Frost Pedal necklace?

    1. I love this necklace-got it in blue. Bought it FP then got a PA and the salesperson accidentally knocked off another 30%. I love all Lulu Frost.

  10. I did end up with the one item I've been hoping for--the Hothouse Floral blouse. I wish I could have gotten it during the 30% and free ship, but oh well. I've been holding out on this blouse since it came out, and felt like I needed to take advantage of this pop-back.

Now I think I can say with confidence that I'm REALLY done. :)

  11. Does anyone know if the tipping sweater in cashmere is a thick blend or more on thinner side? I don't want to make the purchase if it is a thinner blend on final sale.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. The Tippi sweater in cashmere is not "thick" per say, but it is not thin like the featherweight cashmere. It is more of a mid-weight I would say, not "thick". I didn't find any of J Crew's sweaters to be "thick" this year. Anyone find a "thick" cashmere sweater?

      Delete
    2. The ribbed square-neck one is definitively a thick cashmere, at least a 7 gauge. Tippi is the same weight than the t-neck and tees. HTH!

    3. I could see my bra through the tippi cashmere sweater I just returned.

    4. Thanks Deneè, I will hold back on buying one.

  12. I am holding fast to my no final sale rule. Even things I've tried on are not good candidates since individual pieces can vary so much in sizing. Final sale is bah humbug!

  13. I re-bought a coat that I'm getting for Christmas (save another $70? yes, please) and was happy to get the Byzantine blue toothpicks that I missed the first time around. Jewelry section was a disappointment, though.

  14. Not a fan of final sale at all but I did end up getting a pair of stovepipe pants this morning in a color/size that sold out last week. They were even a bit cheaper today.

I think Final sale is the main reason I have so many multiples in my closet - I'm afraid to buy anything I haven't tried before!

  15. Tinsel worked on items that were not FS but this was not such a great sale since many items are the same price as they were for the 30% off and free shipping promotions. I was at a B&M last night bought some sale items, not FS and 30% off. Did purchase a beautiful tortoiseshell resin bracelet, can't find in online for $58 (code on tag 099102996056) with the 30% off. Assuming this is some promo item for Xmas. I am not a big fan of the gold that J Crew has been selling lately. I did get the Selvedge Shirt in an online delivery, in both S and XS but thinking I may need to size down to XXS. I am usually a 4 or 6 so this was a surprise, does this run large? or are you supposed to wear something under it???

    1. JRSConifer - I saw the tortoise bracelet. It's cute.

  16. Not sure if this is the place to post so if not, please remove but I was at J. Crew Factory today and sale was an add'l 50% off and then the SA gave us an add'l 20% off on top of that. Not sure why bc I didn't see any signage that stated the add'l discount but I scored some great finds (or the hubs scored some deals to put in my stocking!). I got a wool pencil skirt in purple for $20, a 3/4 sleeve sequin top in black for $15, same top in navy for $15 & two sequin luggage tags (one in black & one in gold for $4 a piece). Total haul w/tax about $62 & change! I was pretty happy though I'm not sure how the hubs will actually fit this in the stocking...

  17. I wouldn't do FS unless I'm completely sure the item fits and was something I've been stalking and hadn't gotten. But now, I'm so unsure of my new size, that there's no way I can take a chance.

  18. So is the 30% everything in stores final sale now? (I'm in Portland, OR). I was going to get a few more Christmas presents today but I will skip it if the items won't be returnable. It seems like giving a gift that is final sale is a little tacky...

    1. I ended up going yesterday and it wasn't final sale at my store.

  19. I am pretty much shopped out at JCrew at the moment and would not consider buying more even if they are not on final sale. From all the back to back sales, I pretty much got everything I wanted at lowest price available without final sale.

I thought they got rid of final sale for good. I could see final sale for store items, but it does not make any sense for final sale on online orders. I am wondering if their inventory is moving slower than expected this season.

    1. IMI - Final sale is a cyclical tradition at J Crew. They remove it for two periods during the year. Otherwise it's in effect at all times online.

  20. I was at the McLean VA store tonight and everything in store was 30% off. The signs in sale section stated 30% off and in teensy lettering stated final sale. There were three Herringbone Quilted Vests in size XS at full price and 30% off.

    1. None of the stores I have been to in NYC have final sale on the sale section, since the 30% off applies to the entire store. I have always verified when making a purchase. I think different stores in different areas are just doing whatever they feel like.

I bet JC stores are going to be inundated after xmas with people trying to return things without receipts, and it's going to be ugly since JC doesn't even give store credit anymore if you don't have a receipt! Poor gift recipients who end up with stuff that doesn't fit!

  21. When you purchase something at a store, where on your receipt does it say it's final sale?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. At my local B&M, receipts are stamped with "final sale" in red ink. Not sure if each store has their own different procedure for final sale.

      Delete
    2. Phoebe - Your receipt will have a line item that says 30% off final sale on the item it applies to. They have to have scanned the final sale bar code in order for it to show on there. Some stores back that by taking a physical red stamp that says final sale and marking the receipt, as described by Twiggly Wiggly. If you don't see the line item final sale and they did not physically stamp your receipt with final sale, you should be able to return the items.

      Delete
    3. Thanks guys. I know my store doesn't do the stamp. But I've already thrown away all of my Final Sale receipts (b/c you can't return it, right? ha) so I couldn't check to make sure this new receipt wasn't final sale.

It's not. But they told me it was.

  26. I purchased the double-cloth greatcoat that went on sale online. I was ready to purchase online and make it final sale because I had just tried it in store two days ago but the navy sold out in my size. Luckily I found one in store , probably the same that I had tried on (I put it on hold, then called to extend the hold but was told that at this time of the year they don't do it so I thought they had put it back on the floor and when I called again looking for it they couldn't find one in my size, but it turns out that it was still on hold for me). BTW, if you are in the city (NYC) and need a last-minute gift but you cannot physically go to a store you can buy it over the phone and have it sent to your home by courrier (it will cost you $8 but it is well worth it).

    1. Ema I bought this coat in my normal size before final sale hit. It would be cheaper now but I have not received it yet to try it on and the reorder at the cheaper price. How does it fit? What do you think of it?

      Delete
    2. It fits TTS to small. If you ordered your regular size you should be fine (I didn't size up but it just fit in the shoulders). It is super-flattering IMO (I am petite and didn't overwhelm me). It could look a bit little girlish but somehow manages to avoid that and look quite elegant. It is a dress coat, not sure how it looks with jeans (I bought it to wear occasionally with dresses, I never liked the lady-day personally). It isn't a superwarm coat, my stadium cloth Elements coat is much warmer. I will have more details tomorrow, maybe I will put up some pics if I have time. HTH!
