This is the weekly "J.Crew Reviews {straight from the JCAs}" post, to help each other share our reviews.
So if you have recently purchased, or stopped by a J.Crew store to try on an item (or two) from J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.
Also, this request is not just limited to clothes. Please feel free to discuss bags, shoes, jewelry, accessories, etc.
In particular, if you could mention a few of the noteworthy details like fit, size, fabric, and the like— that would be fantastic! Thanks in advance! :)
Reviewed the Jules Dress in Silk Stripe, Lucille in Cotton/Silk and an Embossed Cotton dress that's not yet online, plus posting an interview MD gave when he came to town to open our store, HERE.

Also reviewing the newer arrival Toothpick Denim in White. I've been looking for a good white pair for too long!
Kim
Also not sure where to put this, but Net-A-Porter just started their sale and there are some J Crew items in the sale like silk blouses, raindrop tee, tanks and more. Most marked 30% off, some 50%
DeleteHope this helps!
The Director dress, in bright dahlia, is on sale for $114 on net-a-porter. Woo hoo! :)
DeleteThanks for the heads up about net-a-porter, Kim! I rarely remember to check their site.
Absolutely! I'm glad you were able to grab that beautiful dress! The bright dahlia color is gorgeous. I have the cafe capri in that color and I love it!
DeleteWow! My Net-a-porter order arrived today! Lightning fast for free shipping. I just placed the order yesterday morning!
DeleteNet-A-Porter is pretty amazing in general. Can't wait to hear what you think of the director dress! Did you order anything else?
DeleteReview of the porcelain paisley pencil skirt in this post.
ReplyDeletei have a few reviews on my my blog(amie maxi dress and pyramid stretch bracelet)here
ReplyDeleteI have to echo Gigi and everyone else - the porcelain paisley is exquisite and is one of the nicest pieces in my closet for summer! I went for the petite size and am glad I did, as I want to be able to wear with flat sandals as well.
ReplyDeleteI actually sent back the petite cafe trousers in navy linen. They fit okay, but I found the linen very stiff - I have a similar pair from last summer that were much softer and my experience is that if the linen does not drape and feel lovely, I simply will avoid it in my closet. So back they went!
Thanks for the NAP sale heads up, Kim! I'm tempted by the tipped linen schoolboy blazer, but am resisting.

A review of the No. 2 Pencil Skirt in Porcelain Paisley HERE Like Gigi, I love this skirt! And, a review of the Double-Strand Seahorse Necklace HERE HTH!
ReplyDeleteLots of reviews today: silk bow cami (floral), heart tippi, jardin maxi, stripe slash henley, ribbon tee, and anchor mini.
ReplyDeleteAlso agree with everyone on the Porcelain Paisley skirt! GORGEOUS! It's got to be one of the best J. Crew items ever. I can't wait to wear it!
ReplyDeleteIn case anyone missed it, I posted in IRL pic of the Ella Dress in Porcelain Paisley on my blog HERE. I wore it last week to a cocktail reception for Rodarte, and got quite a few looks! I took the larger of my two dress sizes (i.e. size 6). I normally wear a 36B bra and the bust circumference on the size 6 is 35", so it's a good fit. This is definitely an "occasion" dress - there is an internal bodice with snaps, hooks and a zip, so it does take another person's help getting the dress done up. This was a pricey investment for me, but well worth it as the design and quality are very "old-school J. Crew" - it is the replacement for my strapless white and red poppy dress from 2000, which I am finally retiring after more than 10 years of happy use. I have a couple weddings to go to this summer and this is what I will be wearing!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to get my hands on the skirt version - it's on its way to me now!

DeleteJust got the Hilary dress in heather chartreuse from the LOVEIT promo. You can see my in-depth review with pics here.
ReplyDeleteAnyone try on the Attache dress in Seersucker. I want to know if it is see-through.
ReplyDeleteReview of some new items (more anchors!) HERE.
ReplyDeleteOT, just wanted to share a BR code that is good for today only. BREXTEND gets you 40% off one FP item. However, the code can be used on more than one order, so if you want more than one item, you can just place separate orders to get 40% off all of them. :) HTH someone!
ReplyDeletethanks Cass!
DeleteI went a little nuts and placed 5 separate orders for 2 prs of shorts, 2 tops and a pair of linen martin pants. Luckily I have the luxe credit card so shipping is always free.
DeleteI loved the Audra leather sandals, until I tried to wear them for a few hours walking around. They rubbed a hole in the top of my foot. I guess it could have been operator error, maybe I buckled in the wrong holes, but I don't generally have trouble with shoes or sandals hurting my feet. They are definitely the right size. Anyone else have this happen? Solutions?
ReplyDeleteYou can try a blister block stick like this. Rub it on the spot that gets blisters before you go out. It works.

DeleteCass and Mei, thank you so much! I didn't know about these. I hope one of them will work for me. I have a high arch so maybe that's why I had trouble with these sandals when I wore them longer. Thanks!!
DeleteIf anyone is curious about the Baggu for J.Crew bags I have a review on my blog HERE. In summary, I think these are nice reusable bags and reasonably priced. The colors got my interest me but the way they fold into a small pouch and that they are machine-washable are what sold me on them. Great for my own use and I'm picking up a few to have on hand for gifts.
ReplyDeleteHi. Check out my reviews of the Tessa Top in safari cat, Cafe Capris in safari cat, Gondola Stripe Top, and 5" Chino Shorts on my blog at www.beachchicstyle.blogspot.com.
ReplyDeleteReceived my Maritime Anchor dress today. Absolutely love it! This is my first maritime dress and I'm smitten. Ordered the smaller of my JC dress sizes (XS) and the fit is perfect. I'm 5'4", and on me it hits to about the knees. Love the anchor print and the side zippers at the hem. I find the silhouette to be very flattering. Heading to Cape Cod in a few weeks and this dress will be perfect. But it's perfect for everyday life too. It's laid-back and easy, but still chic and refined.
ReplyDeleteIn case anyone from J. Crew is listening…please make the back bow dress in colors other than white. It is perfection, but white dresses are so impractical! (Oh and maybe raise the back 2 inches or so…my bra strap was sticking out).
ReplyDeleteI had a chance to try it last weekend and almost bought it, despite its impracticality:
http://apackageaday.blogspot.com/2012/05/j-crew-fitting-room-reviews-part-i.html
Tried on the attache dress in linen-canvas over the weekend. Loved the coral color, but I thought the dress was very stiff - and way too wrinkly! I understand it had probably been tried on a bunch, plus it was on sale, but for such thick fabric, I did not expect the wrinkles! That pushed me over the edge on the side of not buying it.

DeleteThank you! We also sound alike on the phone, haha :)
DeleteI have the Factory Casbah print pencil skirt on in my blog post from today if anyone is thinking of ordering it still!

Silk square scarf (leopard with orange edge): I'm keeping this since I have it now, but I'd recommend that you wait for a sale on this one. It is not worth FP. I compared it to my 2007 JC library scarf, and the quality is miles apart. The silk twill is stiff and not as fine or sleek. The rolled hem is too thick and bulky. On the plus side, the orange should work with many of the JC oranges out there--it is true orange with just a touch of red. For example, it is less red than my poppy Biella loafers but more red than my Candace sweater jacket.
ReplyDeleteHexicon, it's on sale for $29.99 along w/the other 2 patterns.
DeleteIs that in the stores? Still FP online.
DeleteIn-store
DeleteHas anyone tried the classic mini in double serge cotton? I'm thinking it will look good with the anchor scoop neck blouse...but I'm not sure about dimensions/if it will stretch out! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteBrief review of the modern red perfect shirt in small gingham (one of yesterday's new arrivals) here:
ReplyDeletehttp://apackageaday.blogspot.com/2012/06/todays-outfit-modern-red.html
C, I tried it and it runs a bit small IMO. It isn't crazy short but it hit me well above the knee (I am petite). I will post pics soon.
