"Thanks!" to many of you, including Irina, who shared the following email from J.Crew.
J.Crew Factory (click here to shop online) is open and they are offering up to 30% off select cardigans and jewelry in honor of Mother's Day.
As JCAs know... if you live near a Factory Store, check them out first. The B&M Factory Stores tend to have better promotions and sale prices.
What are your thoughts on J.Crew's Factory offerings? Will you check them out?
don't believe what you see. the yellow bubble necklace is not 30% off. guess i'll be buying one of those cheap ebay ones.
ReplyDeleteI am drawn to JC because although they have strayed in some areas (mostly tees and knits), they are one of the rare companies that still offers “real” quality materials. I dig my soft leather goods, fine comb cotton cafĂ© capris/trousers, silk camis, and perfect fit tees. All of those things are lost at the outlet. The bags are artificial leather just like the ballet flats, and the tees that resemble the perfect-fit are made with lower quality cotton that stretches out and loses its “crisp” look after one wash. I can say that I have picked up great jeans there, but besides that I only stop in to browse the clearance rack for returns from the retail store.

ReplyDelete- Stray cat — There's a JC Factory version of the Bubble necklace for a little bit less ($69.50). But don't hold your breath that it comes in a gift box, it will most likely arrive in bubble wrap (no pun intended)!
ReplyDeleteAnnoyed that they're advertising the Jackie, when they have none of them to sell...
ReplyDeleteThey have Jackie's at the outlet, they are 100% cotton. The jewelry was 30% off yesterday at the outlet.
DeleteThe factory bubble necklace is small, but it's nice. If you have a B&M nearby, go there to buy it because the jewelry is always on some sort of promo.
ReplyDeleteAlso, this is yet another instance of the e-mail not matching the prices online. Most of the jewelry is not 30% off... not on sale at all!
ReplyDeleteThis is just too ridiculous. I know that the email says up to 30% off, but like all of you have said, most of the jewelry is not 30% off.
ReplyDeleteOn the topic of Factory, has anyone bought the Factory short-sleeve polka-dot dress? Is it as cheap as it looks?
ReplyDeleteHas anyone tried the Factory Double Serge Pencil Skirts? True J Crew sizing or do they run small? And color...would like red...is the "poppy" red or coral? Would appreciate your help. Thanks!
ReplyDeleterdelayo - I've read reports of these skirts ripping on JCAs. I would do a search here in the blog. Hopefully some skirt owners will respond w/their experience.
Deleterdelayo, I have a review of the blue one here. In my opinion they run TTS and the 'poppy' is not coral, but true poppy colour. The 'neon rose' is closer to coral. HTH
DeleteYep, poppy is not coral, but it's not a true red either. It's an orange-red -- is that poppy red? Here, I just checked:
Deletehttp://www.colourlovers.com/color/E42F0C/poppy_red
so I guess the answer is as Rose said, a true poppy red.
It's pretty; I have it. I've had good luck with factory pencil skirts -- in fact, I am one of the ones who reported slits ripping recently, but for me, this happened on two of this season's retail double serge cotton pencil skirts, not the factory versions. And as for sizing, they run TTS (for JC sizing).

DeleteI got the natural factory pencil skirt. It fits TTS and basically same as last years pencil skirt from non factory
DeleteRedelayo - I just got two of the factory pencil skirts in the mail, one in natural and the other in neon rose. The neon rose is really pretty, definitely a coral-like color and not too neon :) They are really wrinkled right now but I'm hoping it's just from shipping. I also ordered a regular J Crew double serge pencil in the on-sale color, royal violet, which I did NOT like at all (it's looks bluish-purple on the site but it's way too purple for my taste in real life). I ordered size 8s and 10s in all of them (8 is my normal J Crew size) and found that the 8 fit me well from the regular store but I needed the 10s from the factory (I've found that the bottoms in the Factory store tend to run 1 size smaller than the regular store). The factory skirt has pockets and the fabric seems about as nice as the actual J Crew skirt :)
DeleteDoes anyone know if you call the factory store will they ship to you like the J Crew B&M will do??
ReplyDeleteHas anyone seen the bubble necklace IRL?
TIA
yes, they will.
DeleteCourtney,
ReplyDeleteMy daughter and husband have had very good luck with the Factory tees and little girls knit dresses. My husband has worn his JCrew Factory tees...he picks up about a dozen a year for the past 3 years and wears them A LOT. No holes and great quality. Just wanted to let everyone know the guys factory and girls factory items seem to be OK. I picked up my first factory items last summer and just this spring. The perfect fit knit tank seems fine so far.
Hey guys-- Just asked an online PS about the factory jewelry, she said:
ReplyDelete"You're welcome to place the order online and I can ensure that the discount be applied after the order ships, or you may place the order by phone and we can apply the correct price before submitting your order."
suh-weet!
Straycat and all, I have two of the "cheap ebay" Bubble Necklaces. I thought it was worth the risk to try them because I love the style but $150 for resin is, to me, beyond ridiculous.
ReplyDeleteI've carefully compared my ebay ones (I have turquoise and black) to the $150 Retail and the new Factory $69.50 ones. I don't know about all the "versions" out there on ebay, but mine are awesome and practically identical to Retail. The Factory version is definitely inferior, IMO ... quite a bit smaller and shorter, lighter in weight, and the metal is dull.
I usually have crappy luck on ebay but this was an exception. I can't tell you how many compliments I get when I wear them.
Would you mind sharing what seller you purchased from on eBay? I have thought about trying one, but would love to know a trusted seller to buy them from. Thanks :)
Deleteruffles....please let us know which ebay seller you bought your bubble necklaces from! and thank you for the review. I don't live very close to a factory store, and appreciate everyone's frank reviews of the factory items.
ReplyDeleteI don't see one piece of jewelry marked down! WTH?
ReplyDeletemy bad. I missed that it was Factory only.
DeleteStraycat and Wendy, I purchased my ebay Bubble Necklaces 3 or 4 months ago so I'm not certain of what's out there now ... but the seller was loveshop80.
ReplyDeleteI hope you all have good luck with the quality too!
Thanks, ruffles--just ordered one. At that price, I think it's a risk worth taking :)
ReplyDeleteOh my, I didn't realize that the Factory store has a bubble necklace!! I actually really like the fact that it's smaller than the original J Crew necklace...I've been loving the bubble necklace in turquoise for a while but it seemed a bit big for me (and definitely too expensive). I REALLY hope the Factory store by me has the turquoise one when I go next week; online it's back-ordered until the end of June :(
ReplyDeleteI know, I was so excited to see this, both for price and size reasons. I bought the factory bubble in yellow and the size is perfect for me. The retail version overwhelmed. My closest factory store didn't carry them, I had to order online.
DeleteHi I bought the bubble necklace in neon pink in the jc factory for $27 w tax i like it!
