This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)
If you are stopped by a J.Crew store this past weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SUMMER sale, or to see some new SUMMER & FALL arrivals {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!
Also, please let us know if your local store was/ is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

ReplyDeleteWent on Friday with my $25 rewards card. I was excited to go as I rarely get a chance to go to my local store which is an hour away.
ReplyDeleteIt was fun to look at the new arrivals but I did not buy anything. Did not see anything I had to have--shocker. First roll out this time of year that I did not buy anything in YEARS. Was looking forward to seeing the new velvet jacket (esp. in hunter green). Has anyone seen it at their local store? I know the Eden was out last year at this time. Maybe since I moved last fall and this store is smaller it doesn't carry it yet. Miss my larger B & M.

ReplyDeleteDidn't go to a B&M this weekend, but did oder a few more items off FS this morning.
ReplyDeleteGenny, I got carried away after the earlier JC email,
ReplyDeleteand ordered the green velvet jacket. Green velvet is a weakness of mine but this was a biiiig disappointment. I think it will be an early markdown. No tailoring, it just looked shapeless and floppy. The ribbon trim looked like hem tape (was forced to take home ec back in the Jurassic era and I blush to say my little bit of knowledge has stood me in good stead in judging how a garment will stand up). Anyway to be certain it wasn't just a question of sizing I clipped it up the back and closed it with its little hooks & eyes. This only made the collar crumple. When I brought it back SA told me I was not the first.
Genny, I haven't seen the Ruby jacket either. I think it"s catalog-only which is weird because it's not a classic style. Even the Collection store, that sometimes receives some catalog+only styles, didn't have it. If they receive it later and I see it I will report back.
ReplyDeleteI forgot to mention that I didn't buy any of the new arrivals but I got a Lollipop jacket in FS at the store for $69.99. I didn't buy it before because the color isn't very flattering on me normally but looked good with my tan and for that price it was a no brainer. By the way I tried it with the new cowlneck tee in blush stone and they looked smashing together. You may want to consider it if you habe the Lollipop.
ReplyDeleteI will post pics of the new arrivals later today or this evening for anyone who is interested.
Looks like there was a big sale update overnight, 1000+ items in Women. ...
ReplyDeletewellfedfred,
ReplyDeleteThanks for the post. VERY Good to know about the jacket. What is going on with JCrew and quality and styling????
By the way, I wanted to take sewing in HS but my father thought it a waste. Wish I had not listened to him. Even knowing a little would be nice:)
Visited both J.Crew and Madewell yesterday afternoon. Used my Rewards Card towards the Bayberry washed wool scarf in dark plum (can't resist J.Crew scarves!) and a pretty ruffle placket henley I do not see online that was on promo for $29.50 from $42.50. Wearing both today and very happy with my purchases :)
ReplyDeleteI was very surprised by my experience at Madewell... lots of lovely little fall goodies! Bought the rail straight jeans in madewell wash which may be the most perfect fitting jeans I have ever tried on (I was NOT there to buy jeans. oops.) and the striped cardigan in honeysuckle stripe which is gorgeous in person and super stretchy, comfortable and flattering. May have to pop in there more often!
Went to North Ave. Chicago store and noted in store promos (like $19) ALL in FALL colors: perfect-fit long sleeve tees; Vintage cotton tuxedo henley; and Vintage cotton V-neck tees; and new favorite tanks 2 for $20.
ReplyDeleteGenny and WellFedFred, I too was hoping to see the Ruby jacket in the store when I went last week, because I've had a thing for dark green velvet ever since Scarlett O'Hara's curtains! I was surprised not to see it there, because if Ruby is suppose to be the "it" jacket seems as though it should be out by now.
ReplyDeleteI have a feeling it won't work (and ITA about the bias hem tape belt) but that green is so tempting. Maybe as a ride-along if we ever get a 20% coupon . . .
Did anyone notice if the B&M's were still carrying the Vintage Bateau tops? I already own them in a size Medium, but I have been losing weight and would love to try it on in a Small. I am one of those people who are stuck in the dreaded
ReplyDeletein between sizes! I know they are still online, but would love to try the small on first before I jump in and buy them again online. They are one of my favorite shirts!! :)
Sounds like the Ruby jacket is indicative of j.crew’s tumble down the quality curve. Whatever it is about green velvet, I’ve got that bug, too, but I was wary of this jacket because I like my jackets structured. Thanks, WellfedFred, for taking one for team jca and warning us about its problems. Sounds like it’s more along the lines of something Hugh Hefner would wear as he’s popping viagra with his vodka. ... That said, hope it shows up at a store so I can try it on, and have a frame of reference should it drop dramatically in dollars.
ReplyDeleteI couldn't go this past weekend.
ReplyDeleteCan anyone give me feedback on how the Ruched V-neck jersey dress (26513) fits? Should I size down or order my normal tee size? TIA!
I saw the glen plaid Minnie at the Malibu store. Just got the happy email saying they found them in my size or what I hope will fit. They are different from the other new wool Minnies which I am the only person who doesn't love so I have high hopes!
ReplyDeletep.s. Christine I so feel your pain! I have to try everything on in at least two sizes...
Jcrewphd --- LOVE this dress! I have it in both Navy and Cement. I am in between a size small and medium and went with a small and it fits well. I would say probably sizing down would be best in my opinion. However, I do find after wearing it all day it does become a little loose on top. I just threw it in the wash and it seemed to go right back to shape.
ReplyDelete@Christine: Thanks for the sizing info...now I wonder if the length is in the short side...I'm 5'5".
ReplyDeleteI would say based on other jersey knit dresses I own from J.crew it is a bit on the shorter side. I am 5'3" and it comes just above my knees.
ReplyDeleteThank you Christine!
ReplyDeleteI visited the Asheville store and tried on lots...you can find my pics and thoughts here and here. Hope this helps some!

ReplyDeleteWhoops! *sub!* :)
ReplyDeleteWent to the Bellevue store yesterday. The SA told me that they just got in the velvet skirt that day that some JCAs have been posting pics of but that's not on the website. They have it in a reddish-brown color, though I thought there was at least another color, a greenish one, so I may try to see if it shows up on the website later. Also, some of the basic vintage and modal tees for fall are on sale, for more fitting prices (down from the ~40s) from 19.50-29.50. Since Bellevue is the smallest store (I think) in the Seattle area, I imagine the other two will match or better the new updates.

ReplyDeleteWhat was the price and lenght of the velvet skirt?
It was 78.00. On me it at a pretty decent length for a mini - around midthigh. It's this one, and here it is on Ema. I am short legged - I wear Petites in pants, but I also wear a 00, so maybe the length sizes up as well? And I retract my statement about the two colors, I guess it only comes in that brown. Hmm, I better decide quick whether I want it or not then since it may not come online.
ReplyDeleteOops, that first link didn't work. Here it is again:

Socialscientist,
ReplyDeleteThanks for the info!
Socialscientist, thanks for the link, I was about to chime in but you were faster;-). If the length if the skirt works for you I hope that you get it, the color is really amazing.
